I'm going to go to the next room. I'm going to go to the next room. I'm going to go to the next room. I'm going to go to the next room. I'm going to go to the next room. I'm going to go to the next room. I'm going to go to the next room. I'm going to go to the next room. I'm going to go to the next room. I'm going to go to the next room. I'm going to go to the next room. I'm going to go to the next room. I'm going to go to the next room. I'm going to go to the next room. I Hi folks, my name is Luis. I'm, uh, can you give me okay? A little bit better. All right. My name is Luis. I'm coming here representing the, uh, the, also senior center. Um, also, I just came here to follow up with a lot of few things and certain topics. We have pending activities that are going to be coming up. We have just move your mouth just slightly and this thing doesn't catch anything. Wow. So we've got over a few things with the Senior Center as well as previous meetings in regards to some activities that we were planning that are actually in the works. One of the ones is the lessons for anti-scamming as we understand that a lot of our folks in the senior community fortunately targeted by, well, scammers basically. A lot of people are losing their money and stuch. This goes to co-instast with a little bit of education with how to use technology, cell phones, computers, things like that, but also to make seniors both and we're gonna try to see if we can have Peter's things like that, but also to make seniors both in, we're gonna try to see if we can have multiple languages to have knowledge about either with, how to recognize potential scam things like that. So these are some of the things that are in the work. Also, we were thinking about getting, setting up for movies in the senior center. There's something sort of activities also for our seniors in a community to enjoy. I just have some popcorn and joy some movies, things like that. Also, I received a few, like, one or two reports about the senior ball, but I think that's something else that's going to be coming down the line. So I can table that until we can just enter that comes into discussion. Okay, that's all. Thank you. All right, Mac, you're the chair. Sir, what's your name? Thank you. Thank you. The join us. It's great to have representation from the senior center. Yes, thank you. The joint and this is great to have representation from the senior center. Yes, thank you. So we're going to move on to all business and I see that there is none. So we're going to move right on to new business and starting with the introduction of the new committee members. Thank you, Chair. As of our August, Senior City Council meeting, we had two new members apply and they were approved by City Council, so I'd like to welcome them today. One is a former Senior Advisory Committee member, also participant on a number of other commissions and boards and activities. A court skinner, if you would like to say anything. Okay, that's all right. I can reach it. I'm told. It's just like you. Well, it's it's good to actually finally be officially on the Senior Advisory Committee. And I think we have we have a lot of work to do. So I'm looking forward to and I'm pleased to see such a fantastic turnout tonight because it has always been that way. And also, please, that we're all here together in real life and not just trying to figure out who's doing what on Zoom. So I hope we can keep on doing that. Thank you. Thank you, Court. All right. Thank you, Court. All right. Next up, we have Mrs. Mother Teresa Fernandez, who likes to be known as Cinerita. Hi, can I speak in English in Spanish? If I speak Spanish, I translate it. Okay. I'm not going to say that I'm not going to say that I'm not going to say that I'm not going to say that I'm not going to say that I'm not going to say that I'm not going to say that I'm not going to say that I'm not going to say that I'm not going to say that I'm not going to say that I'm not going to say that I'm not going to say that I'm not going to say that I'm not going to say that I'm not going to say Teresa Fernandez is going to bring the right to get the right to get the right to Thank you Maurice. Can you translate that please? And you translate what you said? She translated. Can I translate it? Although the system doesn't translate. I was thinking you were starting in Spanish and then you were going to... Oh, okay. Okay. My name is Maratresa Fernández. I'm new in this board. And the reason I got involved is because I'm very interested in working with the committee and the seniors in, especially. And I'm very happy to be here. And I want to work as hard as I can to make sure that the Latino community is in full and actively and be able to come to the meetings when we have them. So, and I'm happy. Thank you. I'm mad. I made Paris for Paris. I'm here. Okay. I just wanted to say that. I didn't say in Spanish, but I remember. Thank you, Senator Hernandez. Thank you. Another awesome. That is concludes the introductions of the new members. We are glad to have a question so normally. Is this an odd number so we have eight. So are we is there a ninth person or do we have alternate I'm just not familiar. How can you explain that to me so I know. Yes, good question chair. So I was just confirmed by a city clerk that our number is eight members with one alternate. So that gives us that odd number. the number of the number of the number of the number of the number of the number of the number of the number of the number of the number of the number of the number of the number of the number of the number of the number of the number of the number of the number of the number of the number of the number of the number of the number of the number of the number of the number of the number of the number of the number of the number of the and then also the parliamentarian as well. And then alternate. Okay, thank you. Well, we do that at the beginning of the window when we do that. It'll be a gen dies for the next meeting in November. Okay, thank you. So we want to talk about the. Seniors, the sneaker ball recap. We met as a, there was some of us that were on the subcommittee for the senior advice, for the senior prom, which happened two weeks ago. It was very much of a success. However, there are always room and opportunities for improvement. So I just want to come back to you and share with Ms. Ruth and Don if you can kind of share your thoughts, but I'll just share what we talked about in our subcommittee meeting and we met last week. So some of the things that came out of feedback and mother Teresa, she was instrumental in getting feedback as well. So we documented that, which our conversation, so I just have it here too. So one of the things that they talked about was the highlights of the event was definitely a success, the setting, the music, and the food. But notice there was issues with the buffet etiquette and multi-generational attendance. And we kind of talked about that. There were some individuals out there that were minors. But we kind of talked about the reason that they were there. And you know, was the staff members, child or whatever. And she needed to work and that was okay. We talked about the sit down dinner to be able to manage the food portions better. So that was definitely a learning opportunity for us to be able to do that differently. And they talked about the need for shuttle services because some seniors, they don't drive at night. So we didn't have that in place. So that was definitely well noted. And we have to improve our ticket sales process and our kind of our advertising. So we did advertise on a Facebook page and we know everybody's not technically savvy but we did have flyers at the senior center. We have flyers at EHP and Donna miss Ruth and Sierra, they sold tickets at the senior center so people were there. So we're trying to go to the places to we know where seniors are, but everybody doesn't go to the senior center. So it's going to take everybody collectively to be able to work moving forward on next year. But these were definitely some opportunities. We oversold tickets. So it was a little crowded. So we did go over budget a little bit. But thank you to Marie and city staff and Melv and they kind of rectified that situation. But Vincent had a great suggestion next time is whenever, because a lot of people are so used to doing things in person. So when we do the ticket sales in person, actually we could have someone there with maybe an iPad or something that could do the electronic ticket sales, like the event right. And then we could keep calculating, keep count of those numbers and those tickets and we won't oversell. It won't oversell. So that was something Vincent brought to us as well as next time because people were calling at the last minute trying to get tickets. And this was a paid event. Everybody, it was $25. Most people paid. Some people didn't, but that was OK. We did have some sponsorships, but due to the location of the event, they kinda talked about maybe charging a little bit more for the tickets next time. So there was a tier system, maybe a early bird, maybe in between, and then a late, so we're still kinda collecting. So that was also a recommendation or suggestion as well. And also what was a good point is we need communication as far as Spanish speaking guest. So we have some some translation services mother Teresa graciously stepped in we we need to make sure that it's it's it's handled ahead of time as well as some of the music so more diverse music and we tried but the DJ we hadn't given her the playlist ahead of time to download all the music that needed to happen and what else transportation miss Ruth miss Donna anything to add did I did I miss anything? No, I think you summed it up It's for me I just said no, I think you summed it up. What's wrong? You didn't know anything. Now, anyone else that was in attendance there, would you like to get feedback on if we didn't touch on everything? I know marketing was a, some people said that they didn't know, but we do our best. We need everybody. We need everybody. We need everybody. So, but that's definitely something that's needed. You have a suggestion? Yes, I do. Well, not suggestion, but I would like to do is do that because I interview more people after we talk. And I couldn't get that information to you. And there more it has to do with the, can I just go with the number, with the ones that I have a few? I need, okay. Thank you. Okay. Erison, okay, okay. Okay. All right. All right. All right. Okay. I'm going to go with my list because I interview all the people in the EPA, including Bridget. So, be the girl, be the girl, but you recognize that day it would be nice if she will be recognizing you with a gift. That's what I was mentioned to me. It also seniors mean that when it's a senior event, seniors need to be the priority in sitting and be a big ones who have the best seats, more than the salvation seats. That's what I think. And also, people like to me to know what was in the oldest senior in the room and to be recognized. And yeah, that's a very good good feedback. You talk about the music, the multi-raise population music. The Hispanic representation was a big group. There were like almost three tables. And the music you talk about the music. The music was so important. Some of them left early because of lacking Spanish music. Also the service was a little bit noisy for them because they didn't understand what happened with the translation. I was unable to translate everything about the time so they didn't hear much. I'm so glad I saw it in terms of what's going on. So I feel very bad because I'm not an interpreter. I'm just happy to be my legal. I had to find for the microphone. Also they saw that there was somebody new, a new staff in the senior, at the senior, she's a new advisor for member as well. And she was learning and she was sitting with the people from the civil. And people have been brought in, they were members, they were ignored. They felt ignored. And then all the kids, they didn't know what was going on about the rifle. So none of the financials picking people won nothing. They didn't get no turnages to win nothing. And they were not happy about it. They felt very bad. And then the reason I'd say say that they were not overseas. Also the tickets, there were some people that they got to my backpack and they went from times to the tickets and you talk about the tickets, but they told me even today and I say, you don't get to want me that. That the tickets, they were not at the place where they supposed to be when they were there. So they need to do three rounds to get the tickets. And I guess that's it. That's it. That's the extra feedback that I received after I talk to you and with Maurice. So thank you. So can I just ask a couple of clarifying questions just to make sure that I understand. So you said oldest senior to, we should recognize the oldest senior in the room. That was good. And then you also said the seniors, so no reserve seats that they should, the seniors should have. So what do you mean? Right. What it means, if they were telling me, if it's for seniors, we all seniors, doesn't matter if they are work for the city or not, but seniors, because it was a lot of people from the city that they were reserved places. And these seniors, according to the, because they couldn't understand, they felt that we're seniors and we're here and we were invited. Finally, we decided because they weren't coming. And they said, but yeah, they felt like they need to be focused on seniors. The priority. Okay, got it. And you said, felt, so they didn't understand how the gift raffle was. Yeah, I couldn't translate none of that. So they were, they saw that they were giving gifts and somebody, you know, won these and they didn't know. I was, I was upfront trying to, to, to, to, to, to, to it's playing what was going on, but I couldn't. And, and, and yeah, they felt like everybody got something. We didn't get nothing. Okay. Okay. That's good. That's good to know. Now that was that was for the raffle. For the raffle. For the raffle. No, did they receive a raffle ticket and they just didn't. That I don't ID. Not that ID. Not that because they were so upset, but they knew that was a raffle. I'll be good. Somebody will. Some of them. I understand I'll leave it. Okay. Okay. Yeah. Okay. And I will ask for that. Okay. Well, no, I mean, it's good. I just want to make sure we understand and we capture that for the next time. Did anybody else that attended? Help. Yeah. Yes. Yes. Turn yours on. Oh. Oh. My name is Purley, young Rainer, okay? Hope you're on the wire. But I was just concerned about the program itself. Did you, did you, this program itself. Did you, did you, this poor lady had, was, to me, she was over, over, over, like, she's on program so many times. And I was just wondering, did you reach out to get somebody to help this lady? Tell me. Yeah, you will own program. Several places. Well, I know good world. I'm not the only one that notices it. Okay, if I may. Can you turn that on? Yes, please. So the committee met several times and everybody that were participating at the time knew that certain people had to be in certain places like to do the welcome. We have the interpreter. We have the president of the senior advisory committee. And so the reason I was up there to do the welcome is because. Ruth had to do the registration. So I was called in to replace her. So I really didn't have any say because I'm not going to not do it if the need is there. So that was the only time I was up there. But then what happened was the person that was supposed to introduce the MC Didn't make it so I was asked to do that since I was up there so you know, I don't Everything should be if the folks were in place like they should have been I wouldn't have been up there like that Somebody had to do it. I don't think some people can't just be asked to do something on a spur of the moment because they get a little anxiety of what have you. That's the only reason I was up there and I don't think I was up there many times, but I was up there to do too. I was up there to do two tasks and I did my task and if you feel like I was up there too much, I don't know what to say. We got it done. Thank you. I want to share with you as far as the committee is concerned the program had been planned. This was nothing that we just came up with at the last minute. We had been meeting weekly to be sure that we had all of our ducks in a row before this event. May I? It's just an idea about it, there's that I wanted to know, and just like replacing people and doing like that, well, see, there wasn't a fault. Somebody needs to do it and the job was done. But it was to me, if you have other, if you had planned your program, and you had everybody in their place, she would not have to do what she did. Okay, it's not helpful. Okay, I just wanted to say that. And I don't know about your meetings that you have, but I don't think I missed that many. Okay, so let me speak to that. So the meetings are like we meet here like the first Wednesday of the month. So out of that meeting, we ask people to participate in a subcommittee because we didn't want to do senior prom planning in this meeting. So people volunteered to help in the meeting, but we would definitely like to expand it, but we were meeting every Friday for the like the last four months or so, but I do agree because it was, you know, Ms. Don, she just kind of stepped in because we didn't, you know, we didn't have anybody else to do or was there and then we, or we have somebody on the spot and then they don't feel comfortable, you know, so, so your point is definitely well taken and we'll, we'll note that. Through the chair. Also, the reason, originally, the reason why there was only three members was because in you going up to four members would violate the Brown Act so that you guys technically can't meet with more than four members of the Senior Advisory Committee. So it's when you form a subcommittee, it then has to be less than three people or less than a certain number of people over who are part of the total. That would be part of the original reason. Okay. So I would like to get a new,'ll just need city staff's direction on this. I would Louise had some recommendations or suggestions from the senior center. So how do we get his, should he just handle to you? How does he do that at this point? Yeah, normally there's a public comment card on a specific item, but as a chair, you can allow him to come up and speak. Yeah, because we definitely want his feedback. But following any members of the. Oh, awesome. I'll committee who want to say something. Okay. Any other members of the committee that wants to give me back to the. Boy, this is This is difficult. I forgot what I was. And they want me to bring my chair to the middle. So everybody kind of move over. And I can. I can be here. Okay. Just a quick observation. If three people is not enough of a subcommittee to get the job done, then we might be able to just recruit some people that aren't on the Senior Advisory Committee to participate in that particular subcommittee. Because I'm sure there are a lot of people that would be happy to help on a focus activity for seniors. I can't do that. Okay, we're good. We're out to hear. Thank you. But you're absolutely right. The more collaboration, the better, because it takes the heat off of the three or four. Okay. Just hold. Does anybody have any comments? I want to give him an opportunity. Louise. It's actually fantastic. You mentioned that because apart from working with the East Paul to Senior Center, I also represent the California cosplay ball, Gala. So, and one of the things we do is set up dances. So, that's really the main thing for that group. So, I did get some feedback as well from some of the seniors. A lot of it had to do with, like Ms. Donia Fernandez. Okay. Mother Teresa. All right. To go on with, she stated as well, is that there was issues with bilingual. Being able to communicate, they said that she was there, she was trying, but she was having difficulty doing the translations live or anything, and so a lot of books were just kind of looking around, didn't know what was going on, what was the raffle or anything. Unfortunately, I actually did wanna go to the event, but I wasn't able Unfortunately, I actually did want to go to the event, but I wasn't able to, I had a wedding to go to, unfortunately, out of state. But, because I would easily help with that, I have experience being an MC. But also, I did hear from a lot of the seniors about how the senior arrangements were kind of a thing. They became an issue. They said that as was stated before about reserves. When I asked them about how the setup was, that's one of the things that they also brought up. That there was a lot of separation about the fact that there was a stage in the middle and folks were on the right and folks were on the left. And how it was kind of confusing about how maybe musicians were going over to one area playing for folks over there and everybody else kind of felt left out. So that's definitely something that you may want to consider in the future. It's like the A-Typical set up for a stage presentation or a Gallaud dance ball or whatever you want to call it, is usually a stage dance area, places where people can sit down like the tables. This coincides with everybody. So it's everybody's pushed into the same area and every single section has things like that. I, as you were speaking, as a Mr. Schiller brought up, that if you need any outside sources, I feel free to reach out to me. I can go ahead and get you in contact with folks that have been doing this for years setting up dances and everything. I mean, one of the things I needed to talk to Marias was about using cooling landing because we are thinking of actually moving the gala here to East Palo Alto. And as it's something that has been growing, and unfortunately, the last venue we had is no longer, may no longer be suitable as we have too many people that are actually coming to the events, which is a fantastic problem to have. And for what it sounds like, you know, you guys had a lot of people show up, unfortunately, like I said, that wasn't there. But overselling, that's a great problem to have, usually. But so my main things that I heard from our seniors, like I said, was an issue by linguism. Basically, people are speaking Spanish. They don't understand English very well, so they were misinformed about what is going on in the situation. Other things, like even in the flyers, some folks were like, are we supposed to be wearing tennis shoes or others? We don't know about prizes or anything, so maybe just a little bit more information might have been helpful also. They also let me know about, they did feel, one of the major things was about the reserve tables. They did feel very left out. Some of them were like, oh, you know why some folks over here and we can't go over there or whatever, or you guys, you guys are over here and they get to go over there or something like that. So, like I said, I don't know if it was something that's caddy or not, but it is, um, has, you know, there, it was definitely some sort of sentiment that felt that way amongst some of the seniors. So it'd be good to have a little bit more feedback. Uh, like you guys had stated, music and selections, food and stuff like that. I'm fortunate I don't have any personal feedback. Only what I heard and I didn't hear too much about that. So mainly was maybe having a MC that is either bilingual or have two MCs, one that is announcing things that is a, you know, an English and then if the and to give the other person the opportunity to go ahead and announce things in Spanish. This may be something that might not be a bad idea to carry on into any of the future dances as we have more than just Hispanic and folks that are English. We do have a community here that speaks a lot of Mandarin or Cantonese or other languages that some folks just don't understand. Even though we don't know how much the populace of the dance is going to be for that, it might be something to consider in the future. Yeah, and that's really it. But if you guys have any feedback for me that I can pass on to them, let me know that these things are going to be worked on. And they'll be happy to pass that over to the senior center as well as the rest of the folks over there. Thank you so much. And I just want to speak to just a couple of points, just a clarification. Clarity, we were oversold. I just want to speak to a couple of points, just a clarifying, clarification, clarity. We were oversold. So the seating capacity was 250. The way that the room was set up, we had worked specifically with the four seasons staff and she did have to change the setup. And it was a lot, so it did probably seem like isolated because the stage was in the middle where both sides could see as well as the dance floor where both sides could see. But the reserve tables, there was only two. And it was open city. So I think definitely translation is definitely going to be important. So that's not lost. But all your points are definitely well taken, and we will reach out to the senior center, and we would love to have you guys, you know, partner with us for next year. Okay, thank you. Actually, can I add something on there? So when it came to, when I was just hearing you out right now, it's, I think it has to do a little bit with the preparation as well as work with the hotel staff on that because if it was oversold and if it's a 250 capacity, I gotta ask how many folks actually showed up? I don't think you the city staff can speak to that. Yeah, so originally the venue held 250, but we had only anticipated selling 100 tickets that number did go up to 150 not including the elected officials who were supposed to be sitting in the reserve seats and then only the other the only other reserve space was for the seat and advisory committee members so that might have spoke to that. However, once the things got rearranged and we tried to accommodate, I think we had about 125 to 130 of those 150 people show up. Okay, so we have about 130, 150 people, but the room is set up for 250. No, the room was not set up for 250. Okay, so that's what I'm trying to figure out. If it's set up for 250, this should not be an issue. No, the room wasn't set up at 250. Okay, see that's what I'm trying to figure out. If it's set up at 250, this should not be an issue. No, the room was set up at 250. What it is is that you have a standing room, you have a dancing area, you have a sitting area, and eating area. So it's different dynamics to everything. So I think that's one of the things. Like I said, we've been working on these sort of things. So if anybody has any questions or anything, like I said, I work with a lot of folks that set up dances and I have no problem either passing the information onto those folks, get you guys in contact with them. So that these things can slide a lot more smooth there next time. Madam Chair, one thing that I want to share with you in September 28, 2017 is when we held our first senior prom. The purpose of holding the senior prom was to give seniors an opportunity to dress up and be out, have dinner out or whatever. And this had continued on 17, 18, 19, 20 COVID came in and shut it down. We didn't come back to have a senior prom again until I think it was 22. And when we had the senior prom in 22, there were so many events going on that we had a very, very few people. We had it at Cooley Landing. This year, we decided that we would open up and give seniors an opportunity to branch out and see you would be surprised as how many seniors I talked to that had never been over the four seasons hotel and they were elated to have the opportunity to have dinner to have a dance in that hotel. Most of the Hispanic, Latino people that I spoke to that I sold tickets to, I let them know everything that was going on as far as the sneaker ball, the purpose of the sneaker ball, that we were going to have a contest. All of these things were related to them. This wasn't anything that some of them, maybe they didn't get the information, but most of the people that I came in contact with, I gave them the information. Thank you. Okay. Yes. And then after you're going to move on, because we have about 20 minutes, 18 minutes. Well, the information, like myself, I do know about things that happened at night. For instance, first of all, I couldn't translate because we need to fight for the microphone. But I didn't know that was going to be a competition about the tennis shoes. When you explain that, I couldn't translate that. So we were, I was not aware, so I couldn't explain because I held very much and, and, and because I understand this is something that I've been doing for my life. It's not the first time that I'm working with people, coordinating and making sure that they have an interpreter, not a bilingual person, but interpreter. Somebody that knows how to deal with that. I couldn't explain. And as I didn't know, we didn't know about that. We didn't know they knew they were going to be gifts or no. That raffles, but they didn't know about the contest. When you call people, they were like, and I couldn't translate. So my God, I was far from the microphone. And then they were give, they couldn't even see who won with the tennis shoes. For them was like something new out of the blue. And they felt very bad, me too. So, and it's important that you know that piece that even myself, you know, so I told them what you said, there were raffles, it's going to be fun. It's going to be all got I got it, but not other things and make it big impact in the community. That's all. Thank you. I just want to say that it was unfortunate. Yes, that every, everything that happened wasn't translated at the time. And I did try to get the attention of the person with the mic. But I think in the moment, the excitement and everything that was going on, they totally forgot that they needed to stop and let you translate. I'm sorry about that. And it wasn an intentional. And I think that, you know, we know how to do things here in this community. This is not our first rodeo. And so, and I appreciate Luis, your comments. We need more help. And I would say that in most events, you have a table set for dignitaries who come to the event because that's acknowledging them and their presence to support whatever it is. It's not to separate people or to make people feel left out. That's not what it's about. And I know that everybody doesn't know this. Everybody. So next time we do it, it'll be better. We will have worked on these little quirks. Please don't take it personal because that's been a thorn in our side in this community. When something happens, it goes really way and left feel when it wasn't the intent. So I'm glad we had this and I'm glad that my mother andin-law did win the tennis contest. She's 94 years old and that's a wonderful thing. She didn't plan on doing that, but it was a highlight to her evening. And next time whoever has the next tennis that are blinged out, they'll win and they'll be happy too. So I got all positive feedback, all positive out here, anything negative and so it'll be better the next time and we will be clear on how many tickets we can sell. Okay, so because I didn't, you know, the more the mirror is what I say. Yes. Thank you. Okay. Thank you. Thank you for all the comments and feedback. And we just got to do better next time. It was our first time out the gate and us cheering it and hosting and, you know, it was, we have work to do, but it was a, in my opinion was a success and everybody everybody. It was good. Let me just say that people I told you about the things that that they were important, but, and that is important to put it within the feedback. Okay. Perfect. Thank you. Okay. Last comment. Yes. Last comment. I'm sorry, but I was really excited. I'm telling you, everything we know wasn't perfect the way it went, you know, but as far as I was concerned to dress up and to go over into the full season and places and to do things that I never jumped before, it was to me gratifying. That's all I want to say. Did a good job. I think it was good. Thank you. And to be honest, whenever I made the ask to Maurice, this is our community, right? We pay taxes here. We've been living here. And it was just important to me, to me, that we experienced that there. And they embraced us. The four-season staff, they were really awesome to be able to work with. But I mean, a lot of people hadn't been there before. So in order just to have that opportunity to be in that space, that was that warm, that warm, my heart. And we're going back. Okay. So next, the feedback that I got was that it was really nice. And I'm not sure who felt left out at that time, but I walked around and I waited on every senior that I came across. I asked did they need anything that there were seniors at my table, there were seniors all around me and it was like, Hey, what do you guys need? What do you guys need? How can I help? Do you have any questions? And so I think again, we should not take things so personal and we have to speak up. Speak up and let each other know when you need help if you need help. Thank you. Oh, and are you guys taking these notes of, I'm sure of, of feedback? Yes, this, this means me recording. Oh, okay. So I want to add one last thing that I just thought about too is for individuals that like you said, cue that maybe were mobility challenge. I think we might definitely need to have service because we had to go out because it was a buffet We had to switch to the buffet that we need to have servers be able to serve them. So that's something that could be added Okay, so on to the next item Town hall eight town of aging town hall of aging recap and that's for city staff Yes Yeah, so I can speak to the event But also we had some senior advisory committee members and attendants. We had Miss Perley Young Rainer, we had Miss Rutherford, and we had Mother Teresa there as well as CUP was able to attend. So please, if you guys would like to speak to it first, how you felt about the actual town hall on aging event, and then I can go into further detail. Due to time, I'll let you go ahead into the report. I can just say that it was exceptional in regards to seeing that the county is coming together and recognizing that we have an issue with aging and they're working on it as well as isolation and as a team effort, I can see it only getting better and edifying and educating our communities on such issues. And I'm looking forward to continuing to meet my neighbors. And I even passed out some of the flyers and brochures that I received yesterday to some of my neighbors. Fortunately, I'm happy that I know a whole lot more than six that are around me, but it was a great, great morning. I'd like to say, speaking of town hall on Agents, that was a great program. And to me, to be able to have been heard, like I mentioned, I have this one for a reason that I want you all to know the vision for. But anyway, what was brought out to me was more than anything else is for seniors to be heard. And you be in scene and you be in heard. Somebody listening to you, you know? You being seen and you being heard, somebody listening to you, you know? A lot of times seniors are being used. And these are areas that Ashley will able to come out and on that brochure, on that everything that's, and I didn't realize it until actually when I went going through it, I could see I said, well, Lord, have mercy. It is the truth. It so much goes on and seniors are not included. So much goes on that if they are included in it they are used and we don't want a senior to feel that those that they are being used. They want to feel that I want to feel like I'm a part of it. And that's the most important thing is to let them, it makes no difference where they came from, where they're going, where you know, they're being they go, that doesn't matter. As long as they feel like they are a part of the solution, a part of the plan. And so to me, I enjoyed it. And to be able to do some things and to speak out, listen, nobody never know how you feel. And you speak out and let them know how you feel. And then after all, everybody has a thought. And we are seniors, should I feel just like, you know, I'm isolated just because now I'm not, I'm not able to drive, I'm not able to do this, I'm not able to go this place, I'm not able to do this. I'm not able to go this place. I'm not able to do this. I can't dance. I can't see no more nobody don't want to hear me. We don't want no one to get into that type of a position. Includes. And this is something that actually I enjoy town hall on Asian recapping it. Oh, yes. Thank you, sister Bo right here long. Because to me, I really did everything that I'm involved in now, I put myself in it. And how you know how I feel is that I let you know how I feel. Thank you. Thank you. I enjoyed participating in the town hall. I don't think there was enough time because when we were speaking on specific topics or needs that were not met in the community, we really didn't have, I felt we didn't have enough time to expound on them. So it was kind of rushed because we only had so much time and our group was rather large and there was a lot of very engaging people that shared life experiences and this and that. And so maybe the time should have been monitored where you, you know, you have two minutes or three minutes to say what you need to say and then let someone else because everybody did want to contribute to what they felt on the specific topic. So I would say that's the only drawback was not enough time, but it was well attended and I think there will be a follow up at some point and the information that our facilitator took down. I'm sure she's going to transcribe it and get it to Maurice and then we'll get a copy also so that we can review it again and go forward for the next town hall. Thank you. I did Cynthia dissend out a recap, but when will they have the final report because I'll be interested in, and those are some areas I guess we can look at and we can maybe for 2025 we can look at doing some of those things that are apart on that report. Do you know when she'll have that? Yeah, so the plan is for this item to we're in the process of compiling the full action plan. So that'll take through the holidays. Okay, thanks. All right, all the great feedback. I appreciate it. Oh, sorry, I'm on the treason. You were there as well. I just want to make clear. The tongue holder you that we're discussing in here is the one that happened at the YMCA? Okay, yeah, and that I participate on that. And yes, I just want to let you know, I wanted to make sure with that was the one. Yeah, the table I agree with it. It was good. A lot of people participate. We were not able to discuss. We were able just to say what the issue was, just because that was the purpose. They wanted to know the issues first, because they want to review in them and then give us a result. So in the table that I was, there was very good things. And I took notes, I didn't bring them, but the experience was good. A lot of people went, all the tables were VC and everybody was excited. Of course, the individual has different issues maybe, but it was a good thing. Also, I would like to know when the responses you already gave to that. Thank you. Okay. Thank you. Can we move on to the technology? I'm trying to be time sensitive. Can we move on to the technology training update? Yes, yeah, just wanted to inform everyone as this has been an item that has been very top of mind for a lot of this senior advisory committee. And then also it was brought up quite frequently during the town hall on aging that we will be bringing an item or we will be having asked Kevin and again that company to come back and speak at the November Senior Advisory Committee meeting as well. If there are any recommendations other recommendations that the committee has to have come speak. Please let us know. The offer will go out to our local organizations as well like street code and others. So, they will be back in November. Okay, thank you. Any committee reports? Well, we did the senior recap. We spent a lot of time on that. Any, and it says now, and can we move on to staff reports? Item eight, please. Yes, thank you, Chair. and can we move on to staff reports, item eight please? Yes, thank you chair. So just to follow up on this, the responses that you were all seeking and information you're trying to get from the town hall on aging, that was just one piece of our goals towards completing an age-friendly action plan for the city. There are eight domains of livability that we focused on during that meeting. So there was quite a bit of information to cover and I do understand that time maybe we look at in the future splitting those up between meetings so that there is more time to discuss and or have comments on them. But I do appreciate all of your feedback on that. Just to give you a status update, our H friendly task force meets quarterly and then so we will be in the final phases of completing the action plan with Cafe the Center for H friendly excellence. So that is coming down the pipe. And I would like you guys to know that all the information that you have provided the center for age-friendly excellence. So that is coming down the pipe and I would like you guys to know that all the information that you have provided will be somehow added into this action plan as well. And when the action plan is complete it will become widely publicized as we will become one of the 13 or 14 cities in the city and in the peninsula to complete it. So that is our age-friendly action of plan updates. Okay, you want to discuss thank you the senior advisory brochure. Yes. So in front of all of our senior, all of you right now in your packets, you should see a Senior Advisory brochure that lays out, if not Vincent, can get that to you. That lays out just a brief information on what it is to be a member of the Senior Advisory Committee and something that we wanna get your feedback on if you would like to mass produce or produce a few of these so that you can hand them out and they will be translated into Spanish as well but first we need to approve the language for English. Do we need with a decision tonight, but the hope is that we can get back to us either via email or at the November meeting. Okay. People say, do they need time to process, think about it, what's the feedback? Are there extras in the back? Are there extras in the back? Yeah, just to get it now. Thank you. What are you asking? Are there extras in the back? Yeah, just to give now. Thank you. Is it do you want to make a decision if on this brochure, do you want time to think about it and process it additional information that needs to be at? OK, so it said the consensus. Do I need to take a vote on that? No, you just need a majority has to say that they would like to review this at the or agenda is this for the next meeting. Okay. Okay. So they'll have a decision at the next meeting for. Thank you. That we need to add. Oh, sorry. All in favor. I thank you. Thank you, Court. So we'll have, we'll put on the agenda for November meeting and they can have it and give feedback. Okay. Cool. Leadership vacancies? Yes. Sorry. That wasn't an item that was publicized. So we're not, we'll go ahead and skip that to the next meeting. Okay. Any announcements? So I have an announcement so I will be traveling in November and December for the next meeting. Next two meetings so I can have an agenda ready for November and then from the November meeting, there'll need to be a you guys have to set an agenda for the December meeting, but we need somebody to run the meeting and we don't have a vice chair which normally would, I guess, run the meeting. So we would have to decide if anyone would please like to step up and run the November meeting, please, because I will be traveling. I'll be out of town the first week in November and the first week in December. I'll soon Madam Chair do you need that? Not right now not right now, but just something to put on your mind that we just definitely need to something we need to think about because what day is the next meeting November yeah six. Correct November six. And then we from the July meeting we didn't have no is the next meeting November? Yeah, six. Yep. Correct. November six. And then we from the July meeting, we didn't have no, not July meeting. What meeting did we not have? We did not have September meeting September meeting. Okay. Q did. She she volunteered to so just if we can just you can send us an email and let us know, but we need a representation on the November and December meeting. Please. To run the meeting. Oh, okay. To run the meeting. November and December. Okay. And any other announcements? About it again. Oh, oh, any events coming up. So I know we're planning the. I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry did the senior walk for health. So it's gonna be centered around that. That's November 1st, and then November 30th, and we had those flyers at the senior sneaker ball is we're doing the holiday light train. And what that is is down in Santa Cruz, they have a local mode of train, and we got a coach for our seniors to go inside the train, go inside the coach and ride the train. So it's going to be about an hour. We're going to look at transportation and different things like that. So that's going to be on November 30th. So that's the weekend of Thanksgiving after Thanksgiving. So that's the Saturday after Thanksgiving. I know that's coming up. Those two things that I missed anything else. Future. Yes, we're also gonna be having hosting the Veterans Day event. November 11th at Cooley Landing, it's a brunch where we will plan to feed the first 100 veterans and based on availability, the veteran will be able to bring guests or one or more guests. So that event would be taking place. It should be in your packet as well. How do they sign up for that? The RSVP number is, you'll be contacting events in our recreation coordinator who's running around here. But yeah, he will be taking reservations for this. Repeat that for me, please. Yeah, I sure can. So November 1st, so which is a Friday from 11 a.m. to 4 a.m. A senior health fair at Bloomhouse. Bloomhouse right on Pugeth Bloomhouse. Bloomhouse. And November 30th from probably four to eight, eight, thirty. I'm thinking we're going to have a holiday life train. So we're going to go to Santa Cruz and ride the train. Holiday lights, L-I-G-H-T-S, yes. Lights train. Don't do that, Chair. It's basically an event where you know where you would drive down Christmas tree lanes of you all the Christmas trees and the different lights except for you will be driving, you'll be on a train. Thank you. Thank you. We have to get to Santa Cruz though, right? We have to get to Santa Cruz. You want to get to Santa Cruz? Yes. Yes. I would like to suggest that when we have announcements, if we have them printed out so that we can just get them so that we don't have to take a lot of time because it's just being considerate. You know, these things going to happen, listen and give them to us please. Yep. Thank you. Okay. So we're going to move on with a journey in the meeting. Please. Thank you. Great feedback. All right. Thank you, Chair. The time is 7-0-7-0-8 and this meeting is adjourned.
