Good morning, good morning. Good morning. Good morning. Good morning. Good morning. Good morning. Good morning. Good morning. Good morning. Good morning. Good morning. Good morning. Good morning. Good morning. Good morning. Good morning. Good morning. Good morning. Good morning. Good morning. Good morning. Good morning. Good morning. Good morning. Good morning. You have again before you, your Florida Heartway, the judge is out, he's acquiring his judicial hours that's needed so you will have the Florida Heartway as I call it. And with that, Commissioner Kerry Erickson, precinct number two will do the invocation, Commissioner Brandon Willis, precinct number one, will do the pledge of allegiance. If you don't mind, please rise. Our God and our Father, we thank you for another glorious day of Duquingo. We thank you for many blessings that you've bestowed on this county, on this state, on this nation. Before we ask your divine wisdom and guidance on this court and throw it like an official's in the United States States. They may use the wisdom and the discernment that you give them to do what's best for the people of this nation, this state, and this county. Thank you for all that you did for us. We ask that you leave this in guidance and forgive us what we feel. And you're not in the front. I mean, amen. Call the equipment to our victim. The equipment is two to fly. I'll do you an out of the states of America and to the Republic for which it stands. One nation under God, individual, who will liberty and justice for all. And at this time, if there's anyone in the courtroom that wishes to have a brief discussion on any item that's on the agenda, this is a time in anyone online, this is the time to do that. Here and now moving, we will go out of order this morning. I don't think we have Mr. David Flin here. He's not here but we will go to the Sheriff's Department and under the Sheriff Department a, considering possible approved resolution, recognizing Bruce P. Mentor for 32 years of service to Jefferson County Sheriff Office, correction facility, and wish him will in retirement. I'm hoping for a motion. So moved. Second. And a second. In discussion. Here and then all the favor say aye. Aye. Aye. Can't do that. Can't do that. All in favor say hi. Any opposed? No. Got it again. But it's unanimous decision without a doubt. And with that we ask Commissioner Kerry Erickson to read this resolution please. Sure. Whereas Peagminter has devoted 32 years of his life serving the people of Jefferson County with pride and professionalism, where as Bruce Peagminter has dedicated his talents and services as a corrections officer in the correctional facility for the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, and where as Bruce Peagminter has pledged his services as a corrections officer, Sergeant, Lieutenant, and Captain, he has worked many positions including dorm officer booking, releases, visitation, training supervisor, and records and technology supervisor. He has served as a pepper ball instructor, honor guard commander, firearm instructor, defensive tactics instructor and T. Colt Instructor at the Jefferson County Correctional Facility, which includes following policies, procedures, rules and regulations for the care and custody of inmates, also responding to many emergency situations involving the evacuation of inmates for several hurricanes for the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office. And, whereas through hard work and commitment to excellence, Bruce P. Mentor has earned a respect of his colleagues in the Citizens of Jefferson County. And, whereas having made a significant contribution to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, Bruce P. Mentor is recognized for his unselfish devotion to the common good and welfare of the citizens of Jefferson County and will always be missed by his friends and co-workers. Now therefore be it resolved that the Jefferson County Commissioner's Court does hereby honor and commend Bruce P. Minner for his dedicated service as a valuable employer of Jefferson County and wishes him well in his retirement. Seems like I'm up here every week now. We're cycling through that age group and this is another very difficult moment for us while I'm happy for Bruce and his family that he gets to go retire and spend time with his family. It's hard for us to replace somebody like him. Carrie, you just read all the things that he has done over his tenure at the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office. That's just a few things. We couldn't list all the things and how important he is to the operations today. Bruce is a guy that's been tasked most recently with reviewing video and one of the things that things that Kathleen Bragg's about let me knock on wood is fewer cases that we have to litigate from liability. It's because of people like Bruce who are doing their jobs every day in collaboration with John and I and Major Gillery making sure that not only the citizens of Jefferson County are safe but also also those inmates are safe. We forget about that sometime. We have a responsibility to keep them safe until they have their day in court. And so again, for Bruce, I've known him, I don't know how many years, over 30 years now, and he's gonna be, I got off the elevator, and Catherine Leane said, who are y'all gonna replace him with? And I'm like, I have no idea at this point. And so, thank you Bruce for all your dedicated service. Thank you for dealing with me when sometimes I know it wasn't easy because we're changing processes. But we've become a family. He's got my husband into the idea that they're ghosts out there. And Bruce likes to go look for ghosts and haunted houses and stuff. So the little secrets that you find out when you work with people about, I think those are the things that make them special, the personal relationships that you develop over years. And so I'm going to sincerely miss them. Thank you for everything. We're going to give you a Rolex in just a second. But I want, you know, certainly you want to say something. Don't cry. Sorry. 32 years has been a long time. I've always tried to do the best for the county and the Sheriff's Department. I've strived to make my job available to protect our inmates and protect our officers. This is not an easy job. People that don't know what corrections is like cannot fathom what we go through on a daily basis. We are the unsung heroes and I'm honored to have worked for the county. Thank you. Hey. And with that Bruce Hull on just a second, we have Commissioner Willis will come down and present him with the flag, please. Would introduce his family. Sure. This is my loud anthem. All right. I'm Senator Riven. I'm old, hold him in my best friend's home. All right. And they better not be crying either. You know what, Bruce? Bruce, come on, my Bruce. Real quick, Bruce, do you know a max men? How do you know max? I'm gonna call my purse. Real quick, bros, do you know a max minute? How do you know max? Excuse me. Okay, I play ball with him in T-Jack. Okay, oh, that's scary. No. Come on up. Come on up. So we don't have a Rolex. No, we don't have a Rolex. It is. Bruce, you got a weight on it, man. Congratulations. Guys, if you guys want to leave, you have to save you can leave this time but you're welcome to stay doing the Commissioner's Court. And so we're going to hopefully get her down there and hopefully she'll have some success come back home and do well. And they will cover the cost for every three months. Travel? Is it any elected official, anyone in elected official that have anything they like to bring to the attention? Commissioner, I just like to remind everybody that the South Texas State Fair starts this week. Thursday I believe is the first night and there have been some changes for safety purposes. My suggestion to you is to go to the YBL website. One of the biggest is that you have to have clear bags. You can't bring any backpacks or anything like that in. There's a number of changes for safety purposes that everybody needs to take a look at so that you're not disappointed or have to run back to your car when you get there. So we want everybody to have fun, be safe. If you're going to try to arrive early, or try to arrive early for things, because traffic will be crazy. And the freeways are still under construction. We've been getting updates. They were closed this weekend, which caused wrecks and backups of, I still have the same expectation, this coming week and weekend. And so if you can take an alternate route to get to the fair, major drive, and come across the back way, or 124, Fennette Road. And, Chef, we appreciate the PSAs you've been doing with Commissioner XC, it's a wh a wholesome place. We just want to make sure everybody's safe. Anything else? Yes, of course. And I want to thank Michelle for bringing in Fred for a project that the A.A. What does it say? Our funds, our fund is which is that Papa Holmes Park, and it's to replace some trip hazards at the courthouse that was causing people issues that the sidewalks were failing, but also we did attach a memorial brick type lining where it is to it, where people can purchase bricks. The bricks will be $50.00. The money will go back to the county to replace other trip hazards around the courthouse. Because we probably won't get those awful funds again, maybe hopefully we will. But the bricks will be $50.00. And it goes directly to the county for future construction and there's a brick you, you can purchase where you put an emblem on it, but it takes up to old brick, it would be $75. All funds are being utilized to pay for the brick and the installment of your brick when it comes in. That's why we got that price from. Thank you, Michelle. Thank you, Fran. I think it was $100,000. We got it. We used $65,000. And it's a beautiful project. Should be finished. It will, it's being cleaned up now. But if you get a chance, come by and look at it. And purchase a brick. I will be purchasing three. And it's called in memory of an honor or of our just recalls. Put it in memory of a deceased relative, an honor or a person, or just because you love me, put my name in the words. Written in the words. Thank you. Newly ones got stopped. Okay, with that, have a blessed week. Thank you for having come to the court.
