Thank you. Thank you. Nation, thank you. Thank you. Seeing as there's no longer a chair per ten, I'd like to open up the nominations for a recommendation for a chair per ten for the Community Services Commission. I would like to nominate chairperson, not chairperson, but commissioner Ken Henderson as a chairperson per ten. I would like to second that nomination. Any discussion? All in favor? Hi. Hi. Congratulations, chair per ten. Thank you. You're welcome. I am going to turn this over to Deputy Director Buseur because we have a presentation it looks like from Erica Jennings. Yes, it is my pleasure. Tonight we have recreation coordinator Erica Jennings introducing a new event. Viva testin, so if you would like to come up to the podium. Good evening commissioners as Deputy Director Marilyn Bouchard said my name is Erica Jennings I'm the Recreation Coordinator at the Testin Family Youth Center located at Sikamore in Newport and this evening I will be discussing our Viva Testin event taking place on Friday, May 2, 2025 at Frontier Park. So the first thing you'll notice about this flyer besides the vibrancy in the color is that this is now titled Viva Testin. It was formally known as our Cinco de Mayo event and as you can see with Friday, May 2, that is not the 5th of May. So we decided to rebrand this event to Viva Testin as well as to celebrate our Hispanic culture in the city of Testin as well. So with that rebrand we wanted to create a brand new logo for the event and encapsulate what we really believe is such a vibrant community and Testin. One I would like to take a moment to recognize our sponsors and partners for this event. As of an hour ago, we got our ninth sponsor, so we're at $4,200 for this year's event. And really, these communities to a cold are just play such a vital role. And not only all of our events, but particularly with Viva Test-In. We're able to enhance our event in several different ways in it, with these sponsorships and with these partnerships that we connecting with, we're able to provide such excellent events with the City of Testin. With this event we have a variety of different components but I feel like the focal point really is our stage performances. You'll see such vibrant colors on the stage, some beautiful performers with their dresses and the musicians as well. So this year we're fortunate enough to be able to bring on a Mariachi band with OC Mariachi Company. They'll be performing for one hour with a seven piece Mariachi, which we're very excited for. We're also looking to book our dance performance groups as well. In the middle, you'll see our Kids Corner Preschool program who have been practicing for the past two months. There are three songs probably three times a day. So they're stuck in my head. They're going to be stuck in yours at the event. And so they're practicing and ready for you with their dance moves and their maracas. And again, that stage is really a focal point for the community. We encourage our participants to bring lawn chairs, bring blankets to really just be in the center of the event and to just engage with the performers because again everything is celebrating our Hispanic culture that we have in test in. Other components of the event include in the upper left-hand corner is going to be our raffle that we have. We have about 15 vendor booth spots at this time. We invite our sponsors to participate along with our community partners at the Test and Family Youth Center. So for example, we have our Phoenix House program. They provide mental and emotional health classes for families as well as our youth population. Falk ambulance services will be there, 2-1-1 will be there. So really, we wanted to invite the partners of the TUSD and Family Use Center and bring them to the center of this event as well. Again, really engaging the community on all aspects. So you'll receive a vendor passport at the event when you visit these vendor booths, you'll get a stamp and then you will enter to win some raffle prizes. So that ranges from some scooters and skateboards, along with helmets, because we are about safety at the Family Center and ranging from some parent prices as well. We do have three food vendors at this event. We have El Ranchero for our main food course, LPPNoLoco, which is gonna be selling fruit vendors and then we have the sweet stuff. That is their name, it's just the sweet stuff. They mainly sell churros, so they'll be at the event along with their commercial vendors. Now, there'll see in the bottom left-hand corner is going to be Luthoria. We've been doing this event series at the Testin Family Youth Center for the past few months and this is kind of the culmination of the event if you will. We'll have three staff. We're going to play about 20 different rounds of Luthoria. It's essentially Bingo and again more raffle prizes opportunities to win and take some free things home. And the bottom right hand corner, that's really an overview of the event. We are planning on having six different crafting game booths as well. We have a cactus ring toss, we have your own make your maracas set. So there's something for everyone at this event and again, just really wanted to highlight the vibrancy and how colorful everything is going to be at this event this year. With that, that is all I have for you. I'm here to answer any questions that you have. Through the chair. I don't have any questions, but it's a great event. I've great to see you growing from a little bit over at Youth Center and now it's from Frontier Park near every year. It seems like getting bigger and better. So congratulations on that. Thank you. Through the chair, Erica, the parking would be across the street at the school? Yes, yeah, best week elementary we have reserved. So parking will be available there. Okay, thank you. I just want to say thank you for a wonderful presentation. Love the rebranding, all the beautiful colors. Now will they also, I remember before they had like a little train that was going through as well, are they still planning on having that activity? Not for this year. Not for this year, okay. Looks like an amazing event. You guys did a really great job bringing in the vendors. And it's, I can't wait to go. Looks really. Thank you. Thank you Erica. That was a great presentation and like chairperson said I love the rebranding. It's very colorful and very vibrant. You mentioned there was nine sponsors who's the ninth one. Um there's still a pending right now but it's Toro transportation. Also named Erica as well. She was great to speak with. So they'll be coming on board. Um probably tomorrow. Thank you Erica. Thank you very much. Thank you. Great job. For at this time, members of the public may submit comments and writing to address the Community Services Commission. Are Katrina, are there any public comments at this time? Yeah, I'm not. Okay, thank you. And so now we're onto the consent calendar. We only have two items on the consent calendar, and so I want to call for a motion to approve those two items on the consent calendar. I'll make a motion to approve those two items on the consent calendar. I'll second the motion. I have a question about one of the flyers. One of the flyers? Yes. We have an active motion right now. Is that we will put this under discussion? Yes. Okay. Oh, okay, I'm sorry. The one of the questions I have on the flyer is this palette project. Is the art workshop? The palette project? Yeah, it's second Saturday of every month. My question is, is there any fee to this? And also, is there any age limit? I want to look at it, Amy. But there is no fee. I can answer that. There is no fee. And while it's offered at the senior center, typically we would target seniors, but there is no age limit. I'm sorry, no fee and no fee and while we would typically target seniors because it is offered at the senior center, there is no age limit. Oh, okay. Thank you. Thank you. Yes, so I can go. Mm-hmm. Okay. No. Is there any more discussion before we make a move to approve the consent calendar or receive and file the consent calendar. No. Okay, all in favor? Yeah, all in favor. Aye. Aye. Aye. Aye. Okay. On to the regular business. The California Parks and Recreation Society conference review? Is that deputy director of Bucer? I can assist you with that. For the new commissioners, we have a yearly conference, a California Parks and Recreation Society, and we, it's either usually held in Sacramento, San Diego, Palm Springs, Long Beach, this past year it was in Sacramento. And three of our commissioners went. And so we just asked them to share anything they may have learned or anything they got out of it. Just if there's more of a sharing thing after. So you can ask among. Just anyone have anything to share? I'm about their experience or anything. Yeah, I got. Yeah, I was able to attend it. It was a great great conference. A lot of educational courses. I attended most of a few with commission or Nakamoto here on senior centers, senior centers and being going things like that. And when you went to Expo. It's a great expo to have hundreds of vendors there with all types of playground equipment. And so that's always a lot of fun. We've been able in the past, pick out, check out the equipment and it ends up in our parks here in the community. So that's been real nice. And you get to meet different commissioners and people from different cities and bond with the people that you work with here here. So it's a great event. I always look forward to it and look forward to next year, which you'll be in Long Beach. Long Beach next year. Oh yeah, through it, Jared. Yeah, I agree with Commissioner Henderson. It's a fun place to go to. You learn a lot from the educational sessions and also the expo is a really fun place to visit because that's where you see different playground equipment and get some ideas of what you want to bring over to our parks. So something that folks should attend if you can. Next year, Commissioner Henderson said it's going to be in Long Beach, so it's very close by. So we should all go. And I wasn't able to attend for the entire conference, but I did attend a couple of days and really, so Deputy Director Bussier and I attended a seminar or session on inclusive elements at parks. I was really impressed with that and also that we are doing a lot of those things kind of organically at our parks, but there's definitely, it definitely gave me some ideas for some things and I know Deputy Director Buccher as well, some ideas for how we can incorporate more inclusive aspects into all of our parks. So that was something that really stood out to me as a highlight as well, the sessions and the exhibition exhibition hall as well. Okay, that was a great conference and looking forward to it being in Long Beach a little bit closer. So this is a receiving file so can I have a nominee's motion to receive and file? Are California Parks and Recreations conference for you? I'll make a motion to receive and file of California Parks and Recreations conference review? I'll make a motion to receive and file the California Parks and Recreations conference. Second. All in favor? Aye. Okay. The next item is the special event review for the Youth Track Me and Community Arts sale. I was unable to attend, where did it was there anyone who was able to attend them, I could share. I was unable to attend too. But I think you, Mr. Dr. Motto, I attended the Youth Track. Feel event. I think the staff did a very good job, you know, with all those kids there and all the events there. I think everything went well. I do have some suggestions or some ideas that I would like to talk to either the staff or the committee members later on. For yard sale or? No, for the tracking track. Yes. We can set that up. I'm sorry. We can set that up. Yeah. Okay. Thanks. Some comments on tracking. Any on yard sale. Okay. And because you are the you are the representative. I right. I we had a booth there from the the Senior advisor board the City of Tustin senior center and We did pretty good. I think a lot of vendors there did good this year from what I heard We made a little over $600. I mean that's pretty good selling just that dollar items, you know, and we look forward to the next yard sale would It's going to be in September and it's going to be sponsored by the senior center I don't know the exact date, but I think September 12 or something Well, I've had the at the senior center or the library. At the senior center. Through the chair, the community art sale is a Parks and Recreation as a whole event. Miriam Garcia, she's one of our newer recreation coordinators. She did a great job. And Miles Garvin, also a newer recreation coordinator, organized track meet for the first time. So that's a big, big task. And the community are at sale. We had a DJ, so there was music, food trucks. I was really impressed with it. I thought you did an excellent job. But I wasn't at the other bank, so I was out of town. But I'm so happy to hear that the senior center did so well. And the one in September is sponsored strictly by the senior center. So the senior center staff. And so the proceeds from that event will go directly to the Senior Center did so well and the one in September sponsored strictly by the Senior Center. So the Senior Center staff. And so the proceeds from that event will go directly to the Senior Center. We hope you join us for that one in the fall. Okay, so items five and six, Deputy Director Pusher, can you? Okay, let me get on here. Oh, participation at Viva. We heard all about Viva Testin. It's a beautiful event. We would love your participation. In the staff report, there's information on Viva Testin and Memorial Day. We'll start with Viva Testin. Where bright colors, if you can. Or if you guys decide to wear your community, your commission or shirts. You guys can decide closer to you. That will be colorful. Yeah, colorful. So it probably the community shirt. Okay, where are your polos? Okay. The polos that you guys received at the, and we will introduce you on the stage. There's information in your invite. I believe it's 310. And then you can work in the information booth and help assist with the passports and so that you have things to do and engage. But it's a great event. So we look forward to our new commissioners coming out. I know Lori has been to lots of our events, but Greg, you are experiencing it for the first time. And this is a new event because of the branding. And I'm really looking forward to that. So that will be happening on May 2nd. If you would let Katrina know if you're coming. If you know you're coming now, you can let her know right now. I'll be there, Katrina. Viva, we have four yeses. Possibly. I'm tenant, but I'm in tenant. so we have three yeses and two tenant. And you can reach out to her later, and she'll correspond with you, but sometimes we'll get you here. And then Memorial Day is another big event that we have at the Veterans Sports Park. If you have an attendant, it's beautiful. And your role would be the same thing. You would be at the information booth and assist. We have a walkway with all the information about the people that have been killed in action. We would just help people when it comes to finding pavers and just seeing the amenities and sharing in what we have to offer about the veterans that we honor and test and so it's a really beautiful event. It has a 21 gun so usually by the American Legion. Thank you. American Legion, I was going to say the wrong thing. It's beautiful. So we hope you can attend that. We'll send you guys invites. You don't have to hold feet to the fire right now, but we'll send you the invites and that's a really, it's an honor to be at it. It's beautiful. And Viva Tessons, of course organized by Erica Jennings and Miriam Garcia will be organizing the Memorial Day event because she's at the Annex and oversees the Annex and Veteran Sports Park. So we just want to get that on your calendar and this is for you guys to review and approve details. Chairperson, question. We, well, first I want to say thank you for sharing the information and any of any questions or about these upcoming events. And I know we did tentatively for those who could attend said they for Viva Testin, but I don't know about for the Memorial Day. Is anyone able to? Should be. Through the chair, yeah, I think I can attend. I can attend as well. Okay. Yeah, I can. And I'm planning on being there as well. So, just to be a motion. For a review and a proof. To review and approve the details. Okay. So, let's make a motion. Yeah. I don't have a make a motion to review and approve the details of participation in Viva Testant and Memorial Day Remembrance events. I'll make a motion to approve the two events coming forward coming up. Second. Thank you. All in favor. All right. All right. Okay. So motion carries. And then the next item again is for Deputy Director Boucher. Options for the June 2025 and July 2025 regular commission meeting. All right. This one's a little more extensive. Okay. So we have in June,'s a staff conflict we have to attend a Citizens Academy event that evening of your regular June 18th meeting and we've done different things in the past because it's also concerts in the park. So we have chosen to cancel the June meeting. And if you chose to cancel it, that means you would meet in May. You would be dark in June. And then you'd meet in July. We're dark every August and you'd meet in September. So there's some consistency with it. You know, summer, summer vacations. There's plenty to keep you busy. I'll all summer along with us. But as far as the meeting schedule, that's option one. Or if you want to keep your June meeting, we could look at meeting on a Monday at 6 p.m. And the two dates that are open in here in the chambers are the same week of the regular meeting would be Monday June 16th. So if you look at your calendars, you guys can discuss it. the following week, June 23rd is open. So those are options for you to consider. And then you could hold the regular meeting on July 16th. That's a concert night. What we've done in the past generally on the July is we try to go fairly quickly. So we save parking spots because everybody loves to go to concerts. And you also participate at the concerts and help with the booth. But if you wanted to keep the June on a Monday and cancel a little July one, you could do that. You could keep both. It's just for it's at the pleasure of the commission to discuss. So that's on the table to discuss. So my thought, my input is to cancel the June 18th meeting and have our regular meeting on July 16th, but I'm open to whatever the commission decides or thinks this past or wants to do. Yeah, through the show. I like that idea too because I don't like to go dark in July and we're dark in August. Dark two months in a row. So, and we tried changing last year. People have things on Monday. We had conflicts on Monday last year. So I'm for that, but you canceled June and hold our July meeting. I agree. I agree with that. Yeah, yeah. Do we need to make a motion? So we need to make a motion to cancel the June 18th regular meeting and to hold the regular meeting on July 16th as scheduled. Make a motion that we canceled the June 16th and hold the July meeting. And amend the motion so that's a cancel the June 18th meeting and hold the regular meeting on July 16th. Do we have a second? A second. All in favor? Hi. Okay, motion carries. Thank you, Deputy Director Rackenpuser. Okay, so now item number seven is our the Commissioner Park visit reports, noting that we do have vacancies for several of our parks and we will we will address that at our may meeting. Commissioner Henderson? Unfortunately I was real busy the last couple of weeks and I wasn't not able to visit the parks. Commissioner Nathamoto. I have a question. I know that there is work on the beams at CT. Is there anything going on there? Yes, the CT shelter. Outpicked. Not picking a shelter. The shelter attached to the building where the summer camp kids go. And you will have a tour in September. Great. So you'll get to meet all of the different facilities. But at the Columbus Test and Recreation Center, the beams were unsafe. So the public works is going to be taking the beams off and we're going to have some temporary and then we're going to replace it with the new structure. So that's what's happening there. Okay, you're right. I think I gave a report saying that the beams were kind of termite and, you know, worn out. Okay, thank you. And Pintry Park, I spoke to a grandmother there. And she says that she takes her granddaughter there maybe once a week because they really like the park there. And the Peppertree Park, whenever I go to the senior center, there's always people at the park. I mean, the two parks pine tree and Peppertree are being used a lot And I was able to visit Camino Rial and test and sports parks and tenials still being worked on. I'll start with test and sports park. There they. A couple of what I think are tripping hazards and the way I think that's what I think is the way I think is the way I think is the way I think is the way I think is the way I think is the way I think is the way I think is the way I think is the way I think is the way I think is the way I think is the way I think is the way I think is the way I think is the way I think is the way I think is the fields are. But where the playground meets the concrete, there are several areas that are just big huge divots so that you could trip or even fall in the sidewalk. In the sidewalk where the sidewalk meets the playground, so the, you know, the phone part of the playground. So where the playground is a phone part and then the sidewalk, I have pictures I can show you after. And there's just big divots and basically the concrete is missing. So that's a tripping hazard. Also, and I had mentioned this at the last meeting, next to the dumpsters closest to the parking lot, there are these two yellow beams that are kind of sitting next to the dumpsters. And I think they're supposed to go in the concrete because there's two holes in the concrete. And so we looked at that as well. And Miles said that he was going to try and get that taken care of. I think we should get it taken care of before Saturday because again, that's another tripping hazard because you can just like even a little kid could just drop their foot in there. And so for my last park report for Test and Sports Park, they did fix the flags. And then the last thing, and again, I was able to talk to Miles about this, is that there's a big green, it's like foam casing next to one of the light poles, and it's all ripped apart, and he said they've ordered until we're gonna get a new one for that. So it was great to talk, see Miles and talk to him and kind of walk him through and then he and so he's going to also meet with park services and there was a little bit of graffiti as well and so we both took pictures of that and he said he'll get that taken care of. Camino Rial, they replaced the basketball nets that were torn so that made me very happy. The awnings look great, everything looks great. The only thing is the, I guess the bulletin board where the glass, the board is, there's nothing in there and I thought it would be really nice to have a flyer about even the upcoming Easter egg hunt or it's just blank there's nothing in there so I you know those I forget the name of them those boxes. Yes, it's nice to have. We have on Friday so okay so I will follow up and be sure that there's something in there this Friday. Yeah okay and those are my two repart reports moving on to item eight of the Commissioner Liaison reports. Commissioner Henderson. Yes, thank you. We had our meeting last week. It's partly a zoom call now and some people do attend. It's a hybrid meeting. It used to be we used to all attend before before COVID in person and then during COVID for four years it was all Zoom and now it's kind of transitioning to part Zoom part in person. So what's going on the old time test and legacy historic preservation week is scheduled for May 12 to May 19th and then I did mention that sunset market was coming up for you guys okay so I got to plug that in for you. At the district spring cocktail tour is going on through April so you guys might want to look into that. The Earth Day celebration is Saturday the 26th going on at Tussussin Unified School District, Dr. Grant Liffin talked about robotics competition. Tussin probably sent 16 students to compete. And also there's AI security system that they're installing in the schools to enhance the security system in the schools. And then there's, they're having summer internship summer internship programs 80 hours worth so that's coming up and and then it's a touch on your historical society is living history garden party is scheduled for Saturday the May 17th and then going on with the chamber they got a coffee mob coming up and that's going to be April the 23rd at Eat Fantastics. That's that restaurant over on First Street. It's a multi-chamber mixture. It's going to be Thursday, April 24th. I think that's with orange. I don't have it in the notes here, but believe it it's with orange. And then there we go, have 25 best awards, 20, 25 best of awards, so now it's coming soon. And so that's pretty much what was discussed at the meeting. Thank you. Commissioner Nakamoto. Nakamoto. From the senior center. The meals on wheels served 1,358 meals on February and in March they served 1,558. Get fit week is scheduled for April 28 to May 2nd. April birthday celebration is scheduled for Tuesday, April 29th, from 12 to 1pm. And then they have a... April Birthday Celebration is scheduled for Tuesday, April 29th, from 12 to 1pm. And then they have a pilot program called ChairFit. It will be held every Thursday from 10 to 11am. And we are planning for our first bingo night starting with just schedule for Friday, June 27th. And we're working hard to get our flyers out and trying to get bingo players come over and have fun. That's it. Thank you, Commissioner Nakamoto liaison report is with the testing community foundation. We've actually added quite a few new board members including former council member Becky Gomez, Colleen Lumberd, and a couple of new people that their names escaped me, but we've actually added some people to the board, so that's really exciting. They, the Test and Community Foundation, will have the pancake breakfast at the Easter egg hunt, this upcoming Saturday and very excited to partner again with the city with the sunset markets. So I'm thrilled about that. And that's all I have for the Tuscan Community Foundation. I might be leaving some things out, but we're on the move for doing a lot of different things because that's very exciting that we've added new board members. And so that's what that's my commission liaison report. With that, I'm going to turn it over for the director's report, Deputy Director Bucer. All right. Thank you. microphone. OK. We have a slide here, the Hope Guide Me. Easter celebration and egg hunt. Excuse me. I believe we have RSVP from all five of you. We had RSVP from all five public art commissions. So we are 100% participating in this event. So congratulations. And it's going to be a fabulous event. You guys will help pass out candy to the kids that are upset because they missed the egg hunt that lasts about 25 seconds maybe 30 but we look forward to the event the pancake breakfast Jessica Castro is a recreation coordinator leading it for the first time we have a lot of of new people. It's nice to have fresh ideas. She's been with the city a long time. She was one of the key players in moving it indoors last year when it rained and it ended up being quite beautiful inside of Columbus, Tuston, Jim. I don't know how that came out so beautiful. Just her attention to detail. So I'm really looking forward to it. We'll have the Easter Bunny there. We'll have trains there. Who was asking about the trains? You were asking about the trains. We will have a train there. Animals, the whole gamut. So look forward to being there. Please arrive early because at 9 o'clock, we'd like you to be able to be with us when we go to introduce and start the event. So I would get there between 8.30 to 8.45 at the very latest. And Katrina, we'll be getting your parking passes to you by Friday. And if you have any questions, you can email her directly and she will help you, but we look forward to that event. So I will see you there. Next, we have sunset market. My baby and love this Vanessa Osborne. Our recreation supervisor is organizing our second year this year, so she's bringing some fresh ideas. Some of them include, we had dog pet adoptions last year. We have a cat adoption center this year. So something different. That's great. I need a cat. See? Cat in your cat. So that's kind of the fun things. There's always new with our events where I try to do new things. The band will be guilty pleasure makers. It'll be a mix of pop rock and dance music. And again, the band's really just sort of a side thing, not too loud, but it does bring joy and excitement to the event. There is a lot going on with this first one. While it's happening, it's public works week. So the public works are bringing all their vehicles. And if you didn't go last year, it's kind of cool. For some of us who've never sat in a police car, hopefully you never. Just a back at me. Just a back at me. Just a back at me. Oh, I can't jump for a teasing. coming back at me. You can sit in the car, you can sit in the big trucks, you can go into the, you can ask the field service guys all kinds of questions. It's just really cool stuff. So that's just a big aspect of it. On top of the shopping for the farmers market and the dreamers market and their vendors and the nonprofits that are there and just a community Foundation sells beer and wine and LaSanda is one of their lead volunteers and on top of that there's also the mayor celebration which will be a later slide. There's just a lot going on so I would plan on being an old town on the 15th of May unless you have something pressing going. I think you'll all be there and Sunset Market is just fabulous. The partners for those that are new, Tesson Community Foundation, Tesson Community Bank, Foothill Community Association, Orange County Farm Bureau, Tesson Chamber of Commerce, Tesson Public Library and Dreamers Market, and it's a collaboration. It's not just on the city staff to make this happen. So we will see you there. Oh, and there's free face painting this year. And last year we had a face painter that charged, which was great, but Mariners Church is doing it for free. So that's another little fun, did it? Is it Rainer Shine? It's Rainer Shine. It hasn't rained yet. That's not Rainier yet, right? Hopefully it doesn't, but it's Rainer Shine. It does. Rainer Shine. I certainly hope not, because there's a block going on. Okay, so Tess and Citizens Academy, we host a night, and we're inviting you. You don't have to go, but we would love you to go on May 7th. We have our parks and rec night. That's where we share with the candidates and the participants about what we do. And it's really exciting because we have such a great team here. We're full of awesome. Our theme this year, we're doing a Lego theme. So, Lego theme is symbolic like Legels. Our department is made of unique pieces. Staff, volunteers, programs, and services. Each piece serves an important purpose on its own and built together. We build something great for the community. So there'll be a legal aspect to it and some building and also education to all of the candidates. We'd love you to be a part of it. We'll give you, you can assist us with it. You can talk to the participants. It's not required. We do give you dinner if you go, so you just have to let us know if you would like to attend. And we just share with the community about what we do. It's not required. We do give you dinner if you go so you just have to let us know if you would like to attend And we just share with the the community about what we do and We make it kind of fun There might be some building of a Lego and a little competition and some prizes for the teams because we're gonna break up the candidates and Different teams and make it fun And so we really hope that you can make it to that May 7th if you're in town at veteran sports park and the time I believe is six 3, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2, 1 Tess and May celebration. We like to support the Tess and Community Foundation whenever we can, we attend several events. You guys are invited. The city will pay for your ticket. You will just need to email Katrina that you want to go because she will secure it. I don't know if this one sells out, but the breakfast does. So just a warning for my new in November that breakfast will sell out. So. I can speak to that. It hasn't sold out, but getting close. Yes, so if you know you want to go, you can let Katrina know tonight, and she can order those tickets ASAP for all of us. You're going to be there anyways, because you're not going to miss sunset market, and you're not going to miss public works night. So I just assume that you will want to go to this as well. But if you don't go, it's okay, it's voluntary, but we will pick up your ticket if you decide to go. So that is a great event. Next. Oh, did I wait? I'm looking at the wrong thing. Finally, finally, we are doing our Tessence Sports Park Ball Field No. 3. Tessence Sports Park is a beautiful park, but there's a lot of grading issues and a lot of holes in the field. So it's quite dangerous and we are fixing it. One field at a time. We would love to close all three fields at once and get it done, but then I think you'd get a lot of people upset because they couldn't play baseball. It's a six months project, so we are doing one field at a time over the next three years and spreading it out. Field number three first, we'll be regrading new irrigation and getting it where it won't have a lip anymore because there won't be a hill and it will be a beautiful field. We're putting in new to Homa 31 ballpark blend grass that Dodger Steatham uses. So I just found that out. So I'm cut for the Dodger fans, Chad's a Dodger fan. That will be happening. We're going out too bid. It got approved by City Council last night. So we're going out to bid tomorrow. We open the bidding process and the bids are due May 20th. And the project will probably by the time it's approved by City Council and the contract sign start mid-July and finish mid-January because it's six months so that baseball will open with a brand new field and there will be some dirt that soil that's exported that will be putting on the site because it's very expensive to export soil and bring it back because you have to do all kinds of things to it. And it's very costly. So we're doing field number three, then one, then two, and the net of the dirt will end up in two. So there's a reason why we're doing in the fields. In case somebody asks you why we have a pile of dirt for a year, and then we have another pile of dirt for a year, is A, it saves the city a lot of money, and then we will take that and use it in our own field. So that will be happening, use it in our own field. So that will be happening. So it's one of our projects. Next, Centennial Park Renovation. I can safely say we will be reopening before July 4th. So there will be many happy Centennial Park Tess and Meadow residents. These playgrounds, this commission picked out, the one on your So there will be many happy Centennial Park, a Tuscany Meadow residents. These playgrounds, this commission picked out. The one on your left is in the rounders. That's a top lot. It does not have the poor in place yet. We took out all of the wood chips of the entire park. So they will all have, all the playgrounds will have poor in place, which is safer and better than ADA compliant, where the wood chips are ADA compliant, but they're really not. They just are, but they're not. So whenever we can put poor in place, we are and we were able to do this. We got grant funding from Senator Min's office, so we were able to do the whole park. The sod is in, the grading was done, everything is beautiful, the field looks great. So we're happy about that. And then the next picture is the fitness equipment that is in there, that was where the horseshoe area was. And we went to the community and the community asked for fitness equipment, so there's their fitness equipment. And then the other picture, it's a little bit smaller, is the older taught older older, sorry, older playground that the commission picked. And for our new commissioners, we bring concepts to you from different companies. And they couldn't decide, and they picked two different manufacturers. So one is landscape structures, and one is game time. And that's never happened. And it was kind of exciting because they like different parts from different people and you guys make those decisions and here we go and we did save the turtle. That I just don't have a picture but the turtle, I saw the turtle today and so the turtle is fine. So the turtle is saving. So more to follow when we get the grand opening date, we'll invite you as commissioners and recognize you at that Grand Opening when we get that date confirmed with the mayor. Next up this is really exciting Elissa Rojas is going to talk about our communication boards. They are finally installed. We have let Caroline show know that her vision has come to life. We have the three communication boards at Heritage Park, Citrus Ranch and Cedar Grove and they went in this week with a huge amazing shout out to public works because Tempodel and Andy Green have done amazing work. They went above and beyond and I cannot say enough amazing things about how much they did for this project that was not theirs, that was completely ours and yet they took it on. So I cannot say enough amazing things about them. But they are officially in and so I'm sure that everybody in those three parks is communicating effectively. Do you want to share for the new members what the the boards are about and they're in English and Spanish, correct? So we had a high school, I think she was a junior at the time, she's a senior now, her name was Caroline and she came to us with the idea of communication boards for those who don't have typical communication styles. So they have these buttons, if you will, for anybody to be able to communicate effectively no matter what type of communication style they use. So there's letters on one side. There's things that you would typically be able, or want to communicate in a park. So stop, help, tired, anything like that, that you potentially want to communicate. And so there's these different buttons that people can point to and be able to communicate with their feeling or thinking or wanting to communicate to an adult or another child if they don't communicate in a typical way. Was it constructive at all? That would be a fantastic question for the people a printed it for us. But it is a heavy, it's half metal, it's a special, I really wish I could tell you that, but I am not a board printer. So it is a heavy board. Well, it'd be nice if you guys, when you do your park visits to go check them out. Yeah. And that's why we coordinated with public works is when we originally agreed to the concept, we were talking about, would it be, I mean, obviously, a phone board wouldn't work, but we can't put anything that would potentially be a hazard to anybody in the park, so it can't be you know anything that would be dangerous to people that are there, but it has to be sturdy, it has to hold up, it has to hold up against any type of weather, any, so it's a, it's a, it's a board that was recommended to us by public, which we coordinated with and by quick signs who printed the sign. So as not a board expert by any stretch of the imagination, I cannot tell you the exact material that we printed the board on, but that was what they recommended to us. So, and if I could just add when Chair Pro Tem, Weson and I attended that inclusive, This inclusive, these are all kind of like little, we have a lot of little things in our parks, whenever we can add to be more inclusive, and this really meets that child that has trouble communicating or that adult. So it's a thrill. So it's exciting. And it came from a young girl who came to us, just came to you guys, and we embraced it. So it's nice to see the fruition. So thank you, Alyssa. Thank you, Caroline. She was very happy to see that it was, we were able to follow through before. You had a first year of year. And you're up next. And this is our temporary emergency shelter locker mural project. They'll be starting tomorrow. It'll be approximately two weeks that they will be painting and outlining and designing the lockers at the temporary shelter off of Baronka. And so we will come back to you hopefully next month's meeting with a fully painted set of lockers. And these are completed by students and Tusson Unified School District and they came up with the concepts and the leader of the the art teachers name is Isabel. Isabel. She's the yes. So this was a project that Chad and Elisa worked on and it's I we're excited about it. We're really excited. So that came from the Public Art Commission. Where are these lockers? They're at the temporary emergency homeless shelter, so it's off of Baronka over by the district. Oh, I see it. So they're inside the actual shelter itself. So this concept came to us from Jerry Craig from Economic Development and got's what the lockers used to look like. They don't look like that currently. They are painted white. They're primed and ready to go for the painting of this water concept, if you will. But they were in pretty poor shape. I mean, they served their purpose as lockers. But all the residents of the shelter get a locker. And that's what they put their valuables in. And the shelter came to Jerry and Jerry came to us saying, we would like to do something to bring a little life, a little, you know, a little love to the shelter. Do you think that you could help us out? And so we went to the Public Art Commission by Wee Amy Chad. Chad went to the Public Art Commission and asked for, you know, do we, is this a project we want to take on? And of course, they embraced it wholeheartedly. And so this is the concept that Isabel and the school district came up with. They sent out the call tardis for their middle school and high school students. And so Isabel was able to incorporate a lot of different elements. We got probably 40 or so concepts from a bunch of middle school and high school students and so rather than picking one concept because there were so many great ones, she decided to incorporate a little bit of almost all 40 into this water design. That looks good. It does. Yeah, nice. Through the chair. Do they have to recondition those lockers before they put the paint on those? They primed them, public works primed them. So they are all ready to go. So when they start tomorrow, they're going to start actually designing with that water concept. They're going to start the outline of their final design. And then they'll start with the color and everything after they outline each of the banks of lockers. But they're all white right now. That's an older picture. Okay. Sorry, you might have said, but when are this, they will be completed? Their approximate time line is about two weeks. So they work in the afternoons. They work from about four o'clock on to about seven because so they work after school hours and then they'll work from about nine to four or so on the weekends. Because they're all students who are painting everything. Good for them. So this is our first feel good public art. And our next feel good public art is our latest mural was finished and today that picture is hot off the press today. And Sophie Gade did a tribute to our military history at Veterans Sports Park and its outstanding. It looks great. It's really beautiful. I love those blamps. So those are some of our art commissioners and Katrina in there. We're out there today taking pictures. So when you go to Veterans' Forts Park and when you go on May 7th because you'll be going to our hopefully your citizens academy, Lego Knight, you'll see it and that'll be a real treasure. So that is the next art piece that just finished two day. The artist just left to go back home. Oh, pardon me, tonight. At so much happening tonight at the public art meeting, they passed, it hasn't gone to City Council yet, but they passed their first public art sculpture. So at Centennial Park, it won't be done in time for the opening. We didn't plan on that happening, but in a section in Centennial Park we are going to be putting up the Seth Johnson was chosen and it's basically kind of a, you can see you can understand it better when you look at it on right-hand side, that'll be standing up and it'll be a photo op for people near the playground and just its first public art sculpture. So they pick that tonight and it's a nice beautiful bright color to go into near a playground. And it's the first sculpture we learned a lot from it. They did a call for artists and still a learning process on how sculptures are. Because one of the goals of the public art is to have a sculpture walk in the Tusson Lagancy. But this one, when we built the park, a Centennial Park, we built it with some pads to know that we wanted to put some sculptures in. So this is their first sculpture in a park. So this will have more on the one that gets put in later. It still has to go to City Council. But. sculptures in. So this is their first sculpture in a park. So this will have more on the one that gets put in later. It still has to go to City Council. But two nights it just got approved. So that was exciting. So that's coming. And this is for you. Save the day if you can. I know many of us work. We do a park tour and a meeting on the 17th of September. And usually we come in here and meet around 10 o'clock. Could be 10.30. I could have it wrong, but it's 10 a.m. 10.30. We have a quick meeting and official meeting and then we go on a park tour. And this is where we look at potential CIPs. We look at what's going right in our parks. we look at, oh, what's going wrong in our parks. We have a scribe. One of you will be a scribe and take notes. And then we take those notes back. And we try to follow up on all the items that we find. It kind of helps shape some of the strategic planning for our CIPs. We have a CIP, which is a capital improvement project list, that we change it every year because because it'll be something that's at the top of the list, and it might go down further, because something else is more important, depending on the money that we have. We try to replace playgrounds around 15, 20 years, at the most some playgrounds last longer, some don't. So these are things we look at, the condition of the parks and what might be happening. So, test and community, I can't speak, Columbus test and recreation center, we weren't aware that we were in need of that new structure until we found out that they had some termite damage. So that one kind of went up ahead of some other things. So sometimes things happen, but you guys are the drivers that help us pick what we, what our priorities are. So that is something that, that tour is really important. Plus it's bonding, we're together all day and it's, it's really good. And we go to lunch. That's always fun too. It's from 10 to what? 10 to about three. So it's a day. It's pretty much a day of work. We do it. What date of the week is that? It's the same day as a commission. I'll be a one to say. So we? Yes, I know that. I've only gone every year. So, yeah, that's right, because we have public art commission at four. So for sure, we have to be back by three so that we can prep for that night. So please save the date. That is the one time that we change the meaning so that you guys can spend the day with us and see our parks. But any of our new commissioners, if you want to see parks on the side, you need to reach out to our department as well. Okay, so next, let me see. I think we're getting closer to you guys. We are your first meeting. That's it. Thank you, Deputy Degrees. Thank you, and every Director's Report. So I'd like to open it up for Commissioner Comet at this time. You want to start with me? Sure, Commissioner. Oh, I understand. Well, I'd like to welcome our two new commissioners to the commission. I'm looking forward to working with both of you. If you have any questions, give me a call. I'll be here. If I can help you. You'll be soon. I'll help you. And great job tonight. chair lesson on your first chair and your first event and Deputy director of future I heard that name a lot of times tonight congratulations. He's a good job tonight And that with that I'm just looking forward for spring and all our events coming up and looking forward to working them Congratulations Commissioner of Los Angeles Wesson for being our chairperson for the year. Welcome, Laurie. Welcome, Jeff. It's a really fun Jeff. Greg. Why did I say Jeff? Oh, well. Greg. Yeah. It looks like a church. Welcome, anyway. It's a, we are. You just have to be careful of that one there, because you know, he's one of the troublemakers. But anyway, we really enjoy ourselves at all these events, and I know you will too. And congratulations for being a Chair Portem. Thank you, Shirley. Thank you. So, Commissioner Shimomura and my same era. Shimomura, any comments? First off, congratulations also on being the Chairperson and congratulations on being pro-tem over there. Thank you. For short, if I stumble, I'm just going to end up calling you guys a commission. Yes, fine. That's okay. And just, it's an honor to be on this commission. I've been wanting to do this for many years and it's finally come to fruition. So I hope I don't disappoint. I'm sure I won't. But I'm so happy to be here and I look forward to all the events and these future meetings. Thank you. Congratulations all. Everyone said this is the fun commission, and you can tell by the events that are already out there. This is going to be great. It's not like, oh, I have to go to these things. I want to go to these things. I want to be a part of this. So really looking forward to to assisting participating and helping you all support the community. It's a great place to live and be. So continue with that theme. Thank you. I also want to welcome you to the commission. It is the funding commission. And Commissioner Nakamoto is actually the chief troublemaker. I'm sorry. I want to say thank you for- He found that out. He found that before everybody else. Let's end in the door. A long time ago. And thank you for pointing me as the chair for this cycle. Deputy Director Busscher, you did an amazing job, so thank you for your help and assistance in running this meeting. And just for all of the work that the city is continuing to do to support the residents, I'm excited about the upcoming events, the Easter eggs celebration, the sunset markers, the mayor celebration, There's so much. And then we know it's, we haven't even talked about the summer activities, but thank you for all of your hard work with everything that you do. And Katrina, thank you. And Alyssa, appreciate it. And there are no other comments. This meeting is now adjourned. Hey, good job. Hey, good morning. Good.
