City clerk, please call the roll. Maya Irwin Jessica Perkis Abby MacArthur here Piper Lyman here Kyla Kavanaugh here Peyton Elkheim here and Aiden Brumel Thank you if there are any citizens who wish to speak on matters pertinent to the city, please approach the podium. You will have three minutes to address youth council during this time. I've never been on this end of the day. So I just wanted to come introduce myself and welcome you all here in this role. Thanks for doing this. It's pretty cool, pretty cool program and pretty cool to get to sit up there. So congratulations for that. So how much time do I have? Madam, the customary three minutes or is it worth it? If you go over, we'll be okay. You can introduce your name and who you are. Well, I just thought I'd spend a few minutes with you and tell you about what, you know, what my day looks like as city manager and a little bit about how I got to where I am. So I'll probably run over the three minutes if that's okay. But my name is Kevin. Last name is CalPAR. And I am the New Smurno Beach City Manager. I've been in this position for about six months now. So I'm brand new, I'm the least knowledgeable person about New Smirno Beach in this room. So that's kind of scary, right? But it's a wonderful, wonderful community has a tremendous quality of life, and obviously a lot of people want to be here. Whether that's living and working or just visiting and we've got to accommodate all of that. So I never was sitting in your seat in high school thinking to myself, I'm gonna be a city manager one day, that's my goal, that's my destiny. I graduated high school, went to college, went on and got a master's degree in city planning, and that's where I started my career as a city planner, doing planning and zoning and land development, all those kind of things, and loved what I was doing and had a great time doing that for about 15 years, but at some point in my career, I began to understand that the city planner doesn't have the authority really to make all this stuff happen. The city manager has all of that authority, and if you really want to make stuff happen that's where you got to be so That's when I started transitioning from city planning into city management and I've been doing this for You know about 30 years plus professionally now so I've been a Planner I've been a Planning Director, I've been a Community Development Director, I've been a planner. I've been a planning director. I've been a community development director. I've been an assistant city manager and I've been a city manager. So I've just kind of progressed through my career. But in local government, the city manager a form of Government is a form of government, most like you would run a business enterprise. So the City Commission, they are the elected board, the Marin City Commissioners. They are a policy making board and they hire a City Manager to run the day-to-day operations of the city such as a company would hire a CEO to do the same thing. So the city commissioners, they hire me, they also hire the city attorney and I have the the duty to run the day-to-day operations of the city. So we have 350-plus employees and a bunch of departments that operate the city ranging from police and firemen that keep us safe to our planning and building code people that inspect the buildings when they're being built and make sure everything's safe. We have engineers that work with our roads and bridges. We have maintenance folks that make sure that the grass is cut. We have huge recreation programs to make sure that our leisure is taken care of. We are a full service city and do a lot of activities, most of which are public safety or quality of life oriented. So the city with 350 employees, we have a lot of people out there doing worker stuff. We have a leadership team that oversees all those programs. So we have about 10 or 12 different departments. Each of those has a department head that's in charge and responsible for their departments. And I feel like we do a pretty darn good job. People here are happy, right? People want to keep moving to our community. And really our job is to keep it as great as we can possibly keep it. And that's kind of the message I give to our employees all the time is you're tasked with keeping people happy. And I say, people should be happy. You live at the beach for heaven, say, right? Not everybody gets to live at the beach and do fun stuff. And we do a lot of quality life programs for festivals and different events. And I'm sure you've been to a lot of those. And that's a lot of fun. But you probably don't notice the behind the scene things that are happening to keep you safe when you're at that event. There's a lot of police and fire going on behind the event. There's a lot of maintenance, public works type things going on behind the scenes to put out the garbage cans, pick up the garbage cans and put out the barriers and make sure all of those little things happen. And if you don't see it happening, that's great. We're doing our jobs because that's behind the scenes stuff. So that's kind of what my day looks like just coordinating all of those activities and I work for five people, the mayor and the four city commissioners. And if they like what I'm doing, I keep my job and if they don't like what I'm doing, they move me along somewhere else, right? That wouldn't be any fun. But I work directly for them and I have to kind of work them collaboratively together so I can figure out from five different people one direction to go in. And so you've got, just as you guys are, you've got different opinions and attitudes about things, and you think different things. We should spend money on, not spend money on. And so I've kind of got to pull all that together and figure out the direction to go. And that's fun. But I'll leave it at that. I'm proud that you're here. Thanks for taking your time to do this. And I'm happy if you've got any questions for me to things. You guys have any questions? Thank you. Thanks a bunch. Have fun doing this. Okay. Thank you. Have a good day. Okay. so now we're gonna go ahead and transition into our new business for this year. Gonna go over the duties, responsibility, and purpose of this task force. So, city clerk, do you have a report on that? I do, so we're gonna just go over some of the responsibilities for the committee. A lot of you are all been here last year, so this is more for the new. So the ordinance that was set for the youth council is to review and evaluate problems facing the youth in the city to facilitate neighborhood meetings with the youth to discuss problems, needs, suggestions, and improvements to the community. To meet with the mayor and the city commission to share discussed ideas, concerns, and improvements. And then you're going to present those recommendation improvements to the city commission and the manager, the city managers who you just met. That meeting will be the first Tuesday, or second Tuesday in May, where you guys will sit like you did last year with the commission, and you'll sit and lead meeting all the way up and two will stop at the consent and you'll also give your presentation and your recommendations to the commission. And that is the list of you guys who are participants will briefly go over some of the past recommendations for the youth council. So they developed a mentoring program at the middle school and high school. We also had a gentleman who provided money for one of the youth programs. The shark statues were also done and then you guys also improved the shark statues to be placed for the previous Youth Council. These are some Youth Council achievements for 2023. One of the big ones was how they added two more members to the council and they also changed a couple of the roles for the chair. The last year's youth council, which most of you served on were the implementation of the little lending libraries at these four locations and we'll discuss that in a bit and we implemented a group placements for the city own locations. And finally, we selected the five shark statute locations for the city that were already in existence with the other shark statute. So those are just a couple of the achievements and ideas of what you can do as ideas for your group. This year is what you want to present to the commission and their meeting. So we'll go over that in a bit, but now I also have the deputy city attorney. Move over there. Good afternoon, everyone. How are you with? As you said, my name is Chamber Curdy. I'm a deputy city attorney here. I'm going to talk to you a little bit about Florida's sunshine law. I'll tell you a little bit about our duties and responsibilities attorneys here. been on this council before, probably remember it, but basically the flora's sunshine law is pretty simple. But it's one of the most people have the problem complying with because it's easy to violate. So all meetings have to be out in the open and accessible to the public. You have to give reasonable notice for the meeting and minutes of every meeting must be recorded. So as you can see here, we are out in the open. The meeting is being recorded and we gave notice for it. The biggest question is what defines a meeting, right? So a meeting is defined by two or more members of the same commission meeting and discussing a topic that is reasonably foreseeable to be on the agenda. For example, if you have to pick the vice chair and you're going to discuss who's going to be the vice chair, you must do that in the open while it's being recorded with notice. Any conversations done at the Dias sidebar, or something like that, as we would call it, that's not being captured by these microphones and out in the open could potentially be a violation of the Sunshine Law. On top of that you and your friends are in school and you meet and you start talking about something that is on the agenda coming up That would be a violation of the sunshine law. So just be aware that the reason Florida, you know, we're called the sunshine state Everything with the government should be out in the open so that people there's transparency and everybody can hear it. So that's the basic nitty gritty of the sunshine law. It is, can be punishable as a misdemeanor, a second degree misdemeanor up to 60 days in jail and a $500 fine. Those are your serious violations, right? Very blatant violations that we have seen throughout the state of Florida, but just be aware of it. So I'll just talk to you a little bit. If you're interested in what we do here at the City Attorney's Office, our role is to advise the city. The city is our client per se. We advise different departments. We advise different, the City Attorney advises the council on different things that come up. We let them know about different changes in the law. We answer any questions about, say, a contract or an issue. So we have vast duties throughout the city. Part of our job is to know a lot of different areas of law. So we'll go anywhere from contract law to sunshine law, to public record law, to procurement, to public record, different police legal advising as something that I do myself, which involves Fourth Amendment, Fifth Amendment, civil citations, employment law. So we kind of touch on a little bit of everything that we do. And we try to advise the city in what new legislation that has come through the state. So right now I believe the state is starting their legislative session very soon. We keep an eye on all the bills that are being passed, how they affect the city, how they may affect our different departments. One department that typically gets very effective is our planning and zoning department. There's a lot of legislative changes that can happen with land use, which is your zoning regulations, what can be built, how it can be built, or something like that. And we try to keep an eye on all those laws that are being passed and advised our different departments as to how it's gonna affect their daily business, or if we need to change an ordinance or update something. So we kinda have a little bit of a gambit of everything going on. Do you guys have any questions? no? All right have fun. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. All right so now we are going to talk about appointing a chair and a vice chair to serve during the school year. City Clerk, do you have a report? Yes. At this time we're going to take nominations for chair so does someone would like to nominate themselves or a member of the Youth Council for the Chair of 2425 Academic School Year? I would. Okay. I would like to nominate Piper Laman. Piper. I second. I don't know if we for chair I apologize. Are there any other nominations for the chair? So one of the rules that were written into the resolution was updated was that there had to be a one year of the person being on the board. So they when they stepped into the chair position, they'd be available. And I know that that Miss Piper served last year. Yes. Is there anybody else that would like to be nominated for chair? No. Okay. So I'm going to call the role and if you agree to the motion of nominating Miss Piper for chair you can signify by saying yes. So Maya Urban? Yes, I agree. Jessica Perkis? Yes. Abby MacArthur? Yes. Piper Lyman? Yes. Kyla Kavanaugh? Yes. Peyton O'Kline? Yes. Congratulations. Thank you. Okay, before you move, we're going to do the nomination for a vice chair. There is no parameter for a vice chair. don't have to have any previous experience. So do we have any nominations for Vice Chair? I would like to... the nomination for vice chair. There is no parameter for vice chair. You don't have to have any previous experience. So do we have any nominations for vice chair? I would like if I'm able to nominate myself for vice chair. Yes. And is there a second? A second. And is there anyone else who would like to nominate someone for a vice chair? No, all right. This time I will call role. And if you agree, you signify by saying yes. Miss Maya Irwin. Yes. Jessica Perkis. Yes. Abby MacArthur. Yes. Piper Lyman. Yes. Kayla Kavanaugh. Yes. And Peyton O'Clin., congratulations. Now at this time we'll take a moment and we'll switch positions. And you're going to finish out the meeting. Kayla has the script for you. Oh, sorry. Yes. Here we go. There. Let's do this. OK. We're going to be real fast. I'm going to do a game project. Okay. At this time we will open the meeting for the project discussion. Is there any member of the task force that has an idea for our project they would like to discuss? I do. This is, we obviously have to see if it's like even possible to do because I'm not sure if it would like fall into more of a county Regulation that we'd propose or like if we'd have to talk to the sheriff office or anything like that, but I was thinking of Obviously like as spring break is getting like more I guess rowdy of a sense in New Sumana. I was wondering if there was a way that we could like, create more of a regulation because for youth, obviously like it is fun for everyone to go to the beach and everything, but we have seen like more accounts of violence or like underage alcohol and drug use. And I was wondering if there is possibly a way that we could reach out to like parks with the Lucia and see if I know that they have implemented like that we can use our license plate rather than like the sticker on our vehicles. And if there's a way that we could work with the Sheriff's Office or the police office in Department of News Marina and Valuesha to see if there's like after a certain amount of misdemeanors and like certain I guess like violations of law that you like can lose that like the privilege of being able to have beach access if that makes sense. Like if there's a way to track that with like the privilege of being able to have beach access, if that makes sense. Like if there's a way to track that with like the youth more, so because obviously there, I mean, I know that there's like, I'll be walking on the beach and I'll see a bunch of kids like, like drinking or like being like very like disruptive to the quality of life. And it just creates like a danger because obviously I don't want to be driving on the road during the summer or spring break and have to fear that I'm going to get injured by a kid or like youth that is like participating in like illegal driving practices. So I was wondering if there's a way we could like- So that would have been a great question for Deputy City Attorney. She works directly with our police department but what I can do is I can bring her back and potentially, it'll be after spring break, potentially one of the admin staff from our police department so they can speak to you guys about what's the best course or what programs that they do have in place and you see how we can build or create something along the lines. I think they would appreciate that. Yeah. Yeah. I think the one regulation that has been places the curfew. And I'm not sure if that is a city curfew or the sheriff has administered that particular curfew. So I think it would be like something to expand on that to ensure safety. Yeah, that is a city curfew. That is right. Because even like implementing, I know there's like, I mean, I wouldn't know personally how that works if you're getting trouble for any of that. But I know kids get right ups and their parents will have to come pick them up. And a lot of kids from orange county and those areas sometimes do tend to get stuck in New Sumerna because their parents have to drive over to pick them up. But if there's a way to regulate it by using the plates, if they have this many instances where they have violated these laws that they just can't drive on the beach or bring their car Like if that makes any sense I don't know if that So the beaches are controlled by the county. Yeah, yeah, so that would definitely be something that we would have to look into But that's definitely something that we can discuss Yeah, but the beaches are controlled by the kind the parking lots are controlled summer by the city But the beach access on to the is the county. Yeah Okay. It's a good idea. We'll definitely add that for the next meeting is anybody else having a project they want to discuss I had more of a question about our little libraries from last year I was just kind of wondering on like a progress check from that or just any updates so So I actually talked to David Ray, our maintenance ops director and he said that they are go for to do the little libraries. I just wanted to discuss with you guys the locations again to see if that was something that you wanted to continue to pursue with this board. Yeah. I think that sounds good. Okay. Also, I think that we were, I don't know if we were still planning on doing this, but having like artists, like art classes around the county, like our elementary schoolers kind of decorate the little libraries for us. I don't know if we were planning on still trying to do that, but I was wondering if that was still a possibility. So what we can do is we can partner with our leisure services department. They do have an after school group. So maybe they can help with the decorating of the little libraries. That's a great idea. So we can invite them to come and speak to you guys about, we'll do the locations and then how we can integrate the youth at Babe James our after school program to help decorate those libraries. So yeah, that's a fantastic idea. Thank you. Santa? Sorry, I have a question. Well, I know it's implemented the voter safety day last year and we were talking about implementing the voter safety course at the high school or at like a local institution. I guess do we have any progress on that? So I haven't heard any progress on that but we have a fantastic mayor who is in touch with a fantastic sailing person at the yacht club that we may be able to interact with in a getting teaching and I remember at a last commission meeting that she mentioned that she does do teaching for students in the area so that's definitely a contact that we can reach out and see how we can implement like a class for the young I remember that someone mentioned like the boating license right a fishing boat Bishop Bright? Yes. So that's definitely one route that we can find and how we can implement that. I know that they did used to have, you used to be able to get your boating license at the Nierston-Murder Beach Middle School, but I think that they ended up getting rid of the course. So I think that somehow, I think that would be a good idea. Yeah, because obviously like Jessica and Maya, you guys were here, but the whole idea was because we have so much water activity and that week of May 18th or May 17th around that time is voter safety week. So we were trying to implement a course at the high school, almost like drivers' ed where people can get their voters' license since that is such a big activity. Yeah, even if we could even just like have, I know we could be able to facilitate it at the school. It wouldn't be an official license issued by a document, but we could even like have a card that says, was like a first responder type card where it says, you know, I've cleared protocol to understand the rules of the waterways because like each green sign means something and orange sign means something in no-way zones and it would even, because I know like the new summer to be each one, I was growing up here, there used to be an etiquette card for golf. And the new Sumerna Municipal Golf Course used to allow you to go through, take an official test, and you'd be given the, I'm a junior golfer of new Sumerna Beach, and I've got the etiquette. And you would show that, and then local new municipal would let you kind of like golf or free, as there but something even like an etiquette card where the kids could have on their person even if they were on the boat. Because you know going to course you'd have to kind of have the regulations of I believe the Coast Guard that is in charge of that but even if there was something you guys would be interested in facilitating where we've been produced etiquette cards and so I understand the protocol and etiquettes of both are safety. That's something that we could really handle on campus too. Oh, that's, yeah, I have a good idea. Yeah, I know when the Coast Guard Exilery came also, they were very insightful with different tips that they could do for us. But I think if I'm not mistaken, they said that they might be able to do something out our school more directly. So that kids would have to like go somewhere for the course. and it's something that they might be able to sign up for like to do the whole course in one day or like split it up into two days or something like that. Yeah, like an eight hour course on a Saturday or a few days after school on Wednesdays. I also think it would be nice if we could almost maybe if they're able to almost personalize the course to new Samarna specifically like our boat ramps and where to get fuel and stuff because just so they know more general information and it's kind of specialized towards the city. Yeah, I agree. Okay. Just taking a little notes, yeah, I think that's an excellent idea. So this did not happen last year that you guys aware of? It was just a discussion. We got the proclamation was made. Yes. But I think we actually plan to do something toward the end of last year, but it didn't end up happening. So possibly we could just carry over that idea and do something. I think now that we have the proclamation, it might be easier to actually organize something. You're nice on the, and since I feel like we kind of were closer to the date of the week last year when we kind of decided actually what we wanted to do So it might be something that we could try to do This year now that we actually have old yes more details and started a little earlier and actually planning out That's a good and you said may 18 Was I think it's like the the 12 through the 18's something like that. And it was, I can't remember if it was a specific date was voter safety day or a specific day of that week was voter safety. I don't think so. There was a designated youth voting day. Yeah, I think we did the proclamation for like this specific day. I can't remember. It was our own voting safety weeks then we had had so it kind of all fluid like it was either the start or the end I remember that it's like on the very end of it. Yeah, we should probably find that day. Yeah Okay, that's awesome. We can definitely reach out to the Coast Guard because we do a proclamation for them every year So we can definitely invite him back And so we can start on it earlier this year so we can get it like installed and done with this the high school and it's a great idea. Absolutely. Does anybody else have any ideas? You guys are great and you've been here a couple minutes and we've got four ideas. Yeah. Trying to think. I have a question. Sure. The city manager, he mentioned that we work like you guys, or I guess we know, we throw parades or like festivals for people. Do we partner with other like surrounding businesses? Because there's the Black Heritage Museum by Pettis Park and they started the Black Heritage Foundation festival that I went to are able to like part, learn with them again to throw more. Yes, like that. The city does partner with a lot of the small businesses in museums to have parades. They do a lot of events with them so yeah we can absolutely partner with pretty much any business. With the city, we do our leisure services department. Generally, handles all of our events for this city and they have good connections and contacts with most of the local businesses within the city. So if you want to partner with the business, that is something that we can look into. And I'm actually inviting the leisure services department next week to discuss the little libraries and having the babe James young kids paint so we can bring that up when they come in next week. Yeah, do you have a specific event or Parade is that you're thinking of or well initially my question was just to know if I could do that But do you guys have any suggestions? I mean maybe since we are youth council, we could do something more directed towards youth and kind of get the Bay of Jane's center involved and maybe the hub since it's an art and it can kind of increase creativity and stuff we can partner with them, but we could honestly partner with anyone but I think doing something that highlight to youth is nice because that's kind of our purpose and mission statement. Maybe even if it's not a parade, but like a little festival on canal or something like that with the hub, we can invite events out and it could kind of be like a kid's own sort of idea. I know they do the hub host Razzle Dazzle and it's like a fashion club, so I'm sure even just getting them involved would be a good idea as well. There's a lot of youth stuff we can get involved. Yeah, I agree with getting the youth involved especially because I mean art to me is like such a crucial part of like New Samaritan helps us keep that more of like a small town feel even as obviously we are expanding as like a town in a city like it's nice to keep like more of like the are like small town like little aspects to really just stimulate that. Yeah I think. Oh sorry. I think something at Riverside Park would be good because we do images there, we, the black heritage, we just did there and they do a lot of events. So I feel like that would be, and those always get so much foot traffic and stuff. So I feel like it would be a good location to host something at. Yeah. I think, like, kind of like you were saying about, like, something creative, it could be kind of like, do you guys know that? I think it's, we host an art festival, right? On like Canal near the hub, kind of like you're saying, it could be something with like Black Heritage and like an art festival. And I think that would be cool if you were looking for like specific ideas of something that we could do. And we could like have like a, like you're saying a kid's zone where they can all like color and stuff. I think that would be cool. If we want to tie it into also the purpose of um sorry voter safety we could do it try to start doing that maybe that week and we could also partner with marine discovery center and the Coast Guard if they wanted to have like a stand or anything because I know the Marine Discovery Center is very involved with the children in the community. Right. I like that. Do you like any of those ideas Jessica? I know it's kind of your idea. Talking to them, I guess, kind of nerve wracking. But I agree. I think the leisure part of it was important because at least personally, I haven't been able to many areas where children or like the youth in general can hang out outside of like mandated, not mandated, but like areas where like their parents like just like a center like where they're just stopped up after school. But having something that is purposely fun like outside that can encourage not just like the younger elementary school middle school, but high schoolers as well. I think it also benefits like you were saying like how they are or into like not illegal practices but having a place where like an outlet where people can hang out and enjoy themselves like a festival or a like area by the park where they can hang out with their friends, I feel like it would be a very important part. I agree. Sorry, sorry to have any. Maybe another activity that we could sort of add into that is I know that one of the art festivals, I'm not exactly sure which one. I know that they have the like sidewalk chalk contest where each person like gets an individual square. So maybe a way that we could incorporate the arts into it could just be like one element, that the schools in New Sumerna could possibly like cement art pieces from the art classes or some sort of like competition that people could participate in, just if we wanted to add like another element to the festival or something. I like the idea of doing something to really just bring cohesion to obviously everything that we do is like maybe like trying to do it somewhat around like boating safety so we're able to implement like youth voting safety as well as like bringing art into it you Mr. Mayor you said you do like ascend off for voting safety I remember that last year like it's like a first day thing like maybe if we can incorporate that around the day of the, if we want to do a festival incorporating that around it, because I know a lot of the artists do take our obviously fishing nature into their art. And maybe just bringing that to be a whole big community thing and bringing more aspects to reach out to the youth and the art of New Samaritan as well. I like that idea. And another thing that would come off from that is if a lot of the festivals centering around things that we're doing, we could even have a little stand for the youth council specifically where we can advertise all the things that we're doing and maybe encourage other people to just, like, personally for me, I know I didn't know about this until Mr. Woodard mentioned it to me. So I think that that's probably the case for a lot of people and they don't really realize that they can get involved in their government. So maybe it would kind of just be like a little expo that we could just add in addition to everything else. At our stand, we could also take a book, leave a book, you know, kind of to go with the lending libraries. And then maybe even something to promote recycling and keeping the lending libraries. And then maybe even something to promote recycling and keeping like the waterways clean because I feel like that's a good habit to start when you're young. Yeah, I think. And even if like reaching into like a stand, I know at the farmer's market you can like get a table, isn't that right? Like maybe if we like want to like to slowly reach into that, just to start, because obviously the festival is a very big event to plan, and we might not be able to go through it with this year depending on how planning goes, but maybe if we pick just to start off a farmer's market one weekend, no Saturday that we can all go, just to fully open like open ourselves to like the public like obviously it is recorded and like it is accessible to the public but a lot of the public might not know, especially if they don't go to the high school because obviously we have like burns or kids who commute to Spruce Creek or wherever, like maybe just reaching out to like the full public and like putting our cell phone display so they're able to like come to us if they have like maybe like I don't know like other youth might have interest or you know I definitely like the idea of getting more involved in the community because I know that last year like even we we did the little libraries and those are getting put up but maybe if use council can actually go and like help decorate with the little kids and get more involved and get that hands-on experience, I feel like it would just spread more of the word of what we do. Right. We're not just sitting here, planning stuff, but we're actually getting involved with it. I like it. That idea. And also to talk about Abbey Washing, the vendor part, I really feel like that's a big part of festivals, especially just the peruse, even if people aren't buying. I go to the farmer's market on the Saturday mornings a lot, and people are very eager to get out and get their business out. I feel like if you said walk around there and present our ideas to them, they would be happy to help. Kind of along that vein, maybe this is kind of far reached because I don't know any examples of this off the top of my head, but maybe some of you guys do. If we're trying to keep it centered around the youth and we're having vendors, I think it'd be really cool if there are any kids themselves who have anything that they sell or that they make or that they want to put out there, just so that they themselves could participate and actively have a stand or something to show off what they do. I don't know anybody who would do that, but sorry for that. Yeah, I know a couple people my friend she bakes cakes and she could sell them and then I know some people create jewelry to sell. Things like that. I think it would be a good idea. The last time I went to one of the like events on Canal I saw a couple stands that looked like the kids were primarily the ones that were making the items. I think there was one that was 3D printing stuff and it looked like a kid was doing all the 3D printing. So we could maybe put out some sort of flyer to the community and just kind of see how many people and the feedback we get From that and kind of plan based on that we could do like a kids farmers market where it's all just like the youth. I like that. I know, um, Jana knows someone because the hub, she does the Rosadazzle at, does a lot of stuff at images and they were selling stuff there so I can ask Jana, it's just one of our friends at school, um, if she knows anyone, but then also I think a good idea would be having the stand at the farmer's market and maybe having flyers about the event and just being like, if you have a business or you know someone in the youth community that has a business and just kind of give them a flyer to tell them what it's about. So then not only are we getting youth councils name out there and we're actually meeting people, we're drawing people into the event so that we're still getting a lot of coverage. I like it. I think that's a good idea. And even like bringing in lending libraries, like how you said, we could do the give a book, like take a book, give a book, we could do that at like a far more market as well. Just because, I mean, obviously like Jessica, I do go to the far more market a lot. I like to like walk around and like see everyone because I feel like we do have a very active like strong community of people who like to be out around the town and obviously Canal is a very active and strong community of people who like to be out around the town. And obviously, Canal is a very, like, central point of the town. If we do want to do a farmer's market, like, at least like a stand, we could do, like, we can bring in Linda Book of a book and like, potentially, like, obvious, like, we might have, like, be able to have people who, like, will support us or like, have more support for what we do and being more open with the public about what we do if they have ideas or if they have obviously implementations that they might think. Just getting more perspective from the community of how maybe we can progress with our projects. I think also if we have a stand-up of the farmers market, we also can talk to the other vendors and they'd be more likely to join in on the event for the youth because I go to the farmers market a lot and there's a lady who sells cookies and we are best friends now. So I'm sure she would be, have you had those cookies? They're so good, they're good. Anyways, so we not only make connections with the youth and get some coverage of our event, we'd also be able to maybe partner with other vendors who are always there on Saturday so they would be willing to already give up their Saturday or Sunday for the event. Right. Speaking of that, I'm sorry. At the library, there are writers who come in and they're able to teach literacy classes or just writing tips and prompts. And I feel like if we're going to have it centered around creativity at the festival, we could invite some of those people as well to speak and give tips because some people are like artists and people like to write. That's a really good idea. And kind of along the point of what Abby was saying, this would be a really specific detail, but just something that I'm thinking, if we're having a booth that's specifically for Youth Council, where we're just exposing the public to what we do, what our mission is, and you mentioned that they could possibly come to us if they have any suggestions. We don't really get a lot of public participation most of the time. It's just whoever we plan to invite. So I think it would be cool if we had some sort of like, I don't know if this is a lot actually, then maybe something we have to keep here. But if we could have some sort of like box or something where people could leave suggestions or questions and just to like have a collection of things from the community because they might not come here. so we could kind of go to them and say, I do think, kind of like you're saying, like we could have like a survey or something or like maybe like try and advertise like that we're going to be here and that students are youth in the community can leave suggestions I think that it would be good to get new perspectives on things that we could do So you can definitely have a suggestion box as long as we discuss the suggestions in public And then here yes, you can definitely have a suggestions box. That's a very good idea Yeah, that's something simple and easy that you can set up and get suggestions and surveys absolutely Yeah, thank you Okay, else have any ideas? You guys did really great. You have a lot of notes for our next meeting. There is one thing I wanna do with part of the Youth Council. The city encompasses so much similar to what the city manager says and there's a lot of different aspects of the city. So my goal is to invite different employees to come in during public participation. So you can meet them and see what their role is for the city, like our next meeting I'm inviting Ms. Ava. Hannah, who is the PIO for Fire and Police, and she is also helping the city commission. She's gonna speak to you guys about her role with the city. So that's also gonna introduce you to people and give you connections and see how they can potentially help. She's fantastic with social media. So if you can help out and we can get public city for the Youth Council and get all these great things accomplished. So that is one of the goals that I want to do for you guys to expose you to. I would love for you. Yeah. I think that'll be really helpful. Yes, absolutely. Furthermore, you said, are we inviting the leisure department as well? For the next meeting, yes. Would that be like someone that we would reach out to if we were to implement a festival? Yes. OK, yes, absolutely, absolutely. And they have a lot of connections within the city, so they're a great, great service. They are fantastic with that stuff. So yeah. And then just thinking about other things that we've discussed, if we were to reach out to the Coast Guard for voting safety, would we be able to meet with them in the next? If I can get him to come out, yes, I will. And I have another contact. Hopefully that'll be able to come out to teach about the voting safety as well. So yes, we can invite people to speak to you guys in public. So yeah, and you can have a discussion and ask them, and hopefully they can give you ideas and the best way to execute some of the projects that you have. Yes. Yeah. Does anybody else have any questions? Mr. Wooder, do you have anything you want to add? Oh, no, it sounds like they've been bottled up with plenty of information. It does. It does. I do have a question. Sure. Yeah. So the stuff we've talked about in here after this meeting has ended, it's no more talking into the next meeting. So you guys can't discuss it amongst yourselves. So you can talk to your other friends who are not a part of the board, but you can't discuss it against yourself. So no texting, no emailing, no discussion. But to other people to invite them to come, absolutely, you can do that. Oh, okay. Yes. Yes. Does that include? That's a good question. Just a curiously. Is that include, like, say I thought of a new idea that wasn't discussed here and I was texted Peyton and said I think I'm going to enter like say something is that no okay I just want to make sure so what you can do is you can email Mr. Woodard okay and then he can email me here and I was texted Peyton and said I think I'm going to enter like say so. Is that no? OK, I just want to make sure. So what you can do is you can email Mr. Woodard. OK. And then he can email me. And then we can distribute it to you guys. But you can't discuss it amongst yourselves. OK. Sounds good. Yeah. That's a great question. Very good question. I guess I do have one more piece. Have the future dates been posted yet online? They are on that website under where we list all of our meetings. All of your meetings have been posted and listed there. Okay. And then I'll find out and disseminate that with full URL. Say that again. I'll just pass that along to you there. Yes, yes. All the postings have been on the city website. On the city website. I'll see if I can get it up for you. There we go. So this is our city landing page. When it loads. And then if you come here, these are all of the public city meetings that we have. And you can see this is in progress. So you guys are being livestreamed right now. If we click it, you can see yourselves. There you are. And then if you come down you'll see your you counsel here. So the next meeting we have a meeting on March 27th. I thought we have one before then I'll double check that and then you have one in April 3rd. So these are all our meetings. So if you want to watch our commission meeting you can come here and it'll have the same view where it says in progress you can click on that and all of our meetings are live stream so this is where you can come to find all your meetings and then if you want to go back and watch your meeting, let's go down a little bit further and this is you counsel of previous years and these are all the videos that you can come back they're all archived where you guys can see yourselves on video. Here. Be scared. Be sure. Nice to see you. Nice to see you. So yes, this is all of our meeting portal where you can see everything that you guys have done in the past. So everything should be here if you guys want to peek to see what's coming up with the city and your meeting dates and times. Okay. Thank you. Great questions. Anybody else have any other questions? Okay. Miss Piper? As there is no further business to discuss, this meeting is adjourned at 4.53pm. Great job. Yeah.
