Do we have any speakers? Yes, we have in-person and online speakers. We'll go to the first in-person speaker that will be Ray Bobbitt. First of all, I just wanted to thank you very much to the Honorable Board of Supervisors for allowing me to speak and for conducting the session. My name is Ray Bobbitt, I'm an ASEG. I'm here to offer support for the stay in litigation. It's a very critical piece as we have just transacted with the city for the 50% interest of the Coliseum site. We are engaged in an acquisition agreement with the athletics to engage in there in the disposition. And so we are very, very excited about this process, and we realize that it's important for us to have an opportunity to resolve and look at the litigation with respect to a legal and financial analysis. We understand that there could be other impacts with respect to the county, but our goal is to make sure we have a right time to properly analyze this process. In addition to that, we don't think that there will be any fundamental impact in the merits of the case of the litigation. We don't think that there will be any concerns. We believe that this would be the equivalent of a judge saying we don't have courtrooms and giving it a simple extension of stay, which could potentially happen. We need that amount of time in order to properly prepare ourselves for the worst case scenario with respect to the litigation. We are very excited about the prospects of the development of the Coliseum side. It's been something that has been worked on for many years. And we're really grateful that the county has been supportive of this process. We believe that this will create incredible tax base for the county. We believe that it will start a new chapter within this community and within this region. And so we just wanted to come, and I wanted to thank you, and I wanted to certainly just indicate that we are in support of a state of the litigation. Thank you. Colle, you're on the line. You have two minutes to speak. Can folks hear me? No. Please speak up. A little louder. Hello. Can you hear me? No, please speak up. A little louder. Hello, can you hear me? Can you hear me? Hello? Can you? Hello speaker, can you turn up your volume on your device? We're not able to hear you loudly enough. Okay, I this is all I can do. Oh, that's great. We hear you very loud and clear now. So start from the beginning Start from the beginning we hear you very loud and clear now Are you speaking? American sports and entertainment group and this this hello can you hear me? Yes start over please. Okay. Can you start over at hydrant. Can you start over at hydrant. Can you start over at hydrant. This is Andreas Kluber's Secretary Treasurer, I'll meet a county building trades council and we're here in support of the state and in strong support of the African American Sports and Entertainment group or a transformative project for Oakland and the region in the Coliseum complex. This is a developer deeply rooted in this community, deeply rooted in the African-American community. And not only that, also with a very, very strong commitment to labor and to actually ensuring that local residents, both on the operational construction job are going to get good union jobs as a result. So we strongly urge you to stay for the stay to give the developer time to process and to move the project forward and help transform our region. Thank you very much. We hope that the Superfighters will agree with us, and keep the state in motion. Appreciate it very much. Thank you. Colle, you're online. You have two minutes to speak. Thank you. Caller, your online. You have two minutes to speak. Thank you so much. My name is Septina McDonald and I respectfully ask the county to consider joining the stay of proceedings that has already been agreed to by the community for a better environment and the A's so that ASCG has the needed time to be able to be able to be able to be able to be able to be able to be able to be able to be able to be able to be able to be able to be able to be able to be able to be able to be able to be able to be able to be able to be able to be able to be able to be able to be able to be able to be able to be able to be able to in person we have Dr. Jones I'm going to go to the committee. Members of the Elimita County Board of Supervisors, my name is Dr. Gerons and I'm the CEO of RM seeking the investment limited and also the founder of Merit's own associates. And today I stand before you for you in support of the Oakland A's remaining in Oakland, particularly in the light of the pending purchase led by the African-American Sports and Entertainment Group. This is a historic moment for the community with the tremendous potential for growth, inclusion, and revitalization. I understand today's topic, including potential and existing litigation surrounding the future of the team and the Coliseum. However, these challenges should not deter us from recognizing the opportunity that be able to recognize the opportunity to recognize the opportunity to recognize the opportunity to recognize the opportunity to recognize the opportunity to recognize the opportunity to recognize the opportunity to recognize the opportunity to recognize the opportunity to recognize the opportunity to recognize the opportunity to recognize the opportunity to recognize the opportunity to recognize the opportunity to recognize the opportunity to recognize the opportunity to recognize the opportunity to recognize the opportunity to recognize the opportunity to recognize the opportunity to than a business deal. It's a pathway to economic empowerment and the community restoration. We cannot afford to lose sight of what at the state. Keeping the A's in Oakland is about preserving our identity, sustaining jobs, and providing hope in the time when our community needed the most. This is our opportunity to upload East Oakland, to create generational wealth, and also to ensure that our legacy is one of the resilience of the transformation. As we move forward, I urge the board to stand with AACG and the Oakland A's and to work towards the resolution that benefits not only the stakeholders, but also the broader of the community. Together, we can secure a future where Oakland drives both economically and also culturally. Thank you for your time today. Collar, you're on the line. You have two minutes to speak. Good morning to the esteemed council, excuse me, County Board of Supervisors. Thank you for allowing me to speak. I'm calling and support of the AASDG as well as the motion to stay litigation. I think it's very important that we take note of what we're observant right now and that is a unity in our region behind the ASG and behind the transformation of the Coliseum Project. And this is a unity we haven't seen in a very long time. I think everybody is finally on the same page about the importance of this project. That includes the city of Oakland, the county of Alameda, CBE and the Oakland A's. And so by staying the litigation, as many have mentioned before, it's going to allow all the parties involved to come together to continue discussing the best way to make this project a reality. And I think we don't want to do anything that can hurt that momentum, the excitement in the community, the excitement in our region. So I think that was the time for us to coalesce behind synergies and behind common goals and common interests. And let's work together and let's take this additional time so that we can come together and talk and move past any underlying things that maybe have been in the way in the past. Let's come together and talk and figure it out. And that's what this stay will allow all parties to do. The fact that everyone is in support of that stay, I think is also important. CBE, the A's and the AACG. So let's use this opportunity to unite and continue to move our region forward. Thank you. In person we have Tommy Sandoval. I'm going to ask the board to support a temporary stay on the communities for a better environment. Sir, I have no material impact on the case. It will not change the outcome in any way. It won't change the merits of the case. If it stays not granted and the hearing is set for September 20th, the board will be able to provide the support for the community for a better environment. no material impact on the case, it will not change the outcome in any way and it won't change the merits of the case. If it stays not granted and the hearing is set for September 24th, 2024 moves forward, whichever side loses will appeal. This could potentially result in no resolution for at least another year will have a huge impact on whether the A's will transact the AASCG. This is a historic opportunity that can lead to many good pain jobs for Alameda County residents. Let's take this harmless simple step to support the process. Thank you. Zoom user, you're on the line. Please state your name. You have two minutes to speak. Hello. Yes, thank you board supervisors for giving me the opportunity to speak. My name is Desmond Gums, and I am the director of athletics at Lincoln University. I like the previous call. They're recognized as that all stakeholders are together on this. And this is a tremendous opportunity, not only for AESCG, but just a community of Oakland. All of our athletes live in Oakland, and the dreams of having the opportunity to have housing at the Oakland Coliseum, and potentially playing it, and one day is monumental. And I'm sure that everyone has eyeballs on this, and I'm in support of the state and given opportunity for ASG to move forward. Thank you very much. and John Jones. Good morning, Honorable Supervisors and Department His. My name is John Jones III and I firmly, firmly encourage you to vote yes for this day. And that's needed for two key reasons. The first is what you all have continued to provide in that sub-leadership. To me, the qualities, the attributes of leadership really requires wisdom, it requires empathy, but above all, it requires vision. It's easy to be reactive. It's easy, it's easier to criticize than it is to create. This is a wonderful opportunity here. As you're hearing so many people are on the same page. And I will go further. This is not just historic. This is her story. This is their story. This is our story. And I will submit this. The future will look back on us on every one of us in this moment. And they will judge us by the things that we have done and they will also judge us by the things we have not done. We have an opportunity to in the words of Gertrys theme put a there back there. I remember the there right the warriors gone, raiders gone, Malibu, Grand Prix, right? The castle, the surrounding areas, these things are gone, and I understood what Gertrude meant. She couldn't recognize her hometown because the landmarks, right, that remind us of the joy we're gone. We have opportunity to put something back there. So in the day, I want to really, really thank you for what you do, and I want you to really think about this stay because it's so important. Because this isn't just a matter when we say stay, not just from a legal perspective, but stay from the standpoint of a quality of life. Because everyone here in Oakland, now let me be the county deserve the highest quality of life that we all can collaboratively provide. So thank you so so much. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. a part of AACG in support of the state. And what kind of ring bill to me is unified, unity, unified. We haven't had that in Oakland in the Bay Area for a long time. And what this project is gonna do is gonna unify the Bay and not just the city, the county, but also the region. So that's one of the reasons or many of the reasons why I am in support of the state. I think we should move forward. And I think the way John Jill and she's kind of said it out, I don't remember Oakland being, you know, what it is today. I want to go back to what, how I was raised. I can't raise my children here with all those things that I was brought up with because we don't have access to it. And so I am totally in support of the stay. and I hope you guys go this board countless times. It's absolutely amazing for board appointments, reapportionment, DA appointments. It's been absolutely a whirlwind. I was once an old man, or a young man, but now I'm old and not once have I seen the righteous forsaken. And toward that end, I want to say that I'm here in support of granting us day in the litigation. The Coliseum development is the most important for this collective opportunity of our community and I trust on this day that we appear together in our stance. And thank you so much for your leadership as far on this project. Next in person speaker, Alan Dome. Thank you. My name is Alan Dome. I'd like to start by expressing profound appreciation to the board members that have agreed to hold this special meeting and recognize in the urgency of this important matter. I'd like to thank the public that's shown up to support the stay and the interest of moving forward with this historic project. I'd really like to express my appreciation to CBE for having the courage and the wherewithal and the organizational capabilities to move the way they did to make sure that this precious land is treated with the utmost of respect and honoring the community that has been so imperiled by the inequality over the way land has been developed in this city historically. I'd like to thank them for being the group that will continue going forward to hold our team accountable in the sports metaphor. If you consider the last inning to be just before the ground breaks, we're in the metaphorical first inning, a long game with this, we'll be starting. There will be many times where we will have to be back before this body in order for this project to happen. There'll be many times before we will have, before we, or before we will have to be in front of our community. And I for one, feel gratitude for the fact that there will be people there to hold us accountable for the decisions we make and not to let this process co-off the rails and make sure that when this project happens it reflects the total manifestation of the best interest of the people of this community that deserve to have the opportunity to equitably participate. Thank you. In person is Cortez. My name is Gunn Cortez. I play quarterback for Lincoln University We're in support of the stand litigation and we're excited about the opportunity to maybe play in the costume Howard are you Howard? Yes Good morning Firstly, I'd like to thank you guys for your time and allowing us a chance to speak my name is Dreylon Howard I also play quarterback at Lincoln University. And I'm here to not only represent my team, but also the youth. We all support the state of litigation. And we are excited about the plan for affordable housing and student housing. Not only that, but we are also excited for the chance to plan the college, seeum and have collegiate home games and to be able to experience that as well. And I'm also excited for the chance for the teams and people who are involved in this to not only experience that as well, but to work together. Thank you guys for your time. Pastor Langford? I'm going to ask you to ask the mayor for the mayor for the mayor for the mayor for the mayor for the mayor for the mayor for the mayor for the mayor for the mayor for the mayor for the mayor for the mayor for the mayor for the mayor for the mayor for the mayor for the mayor for the CEO of the Oakland Private Industry Council. I'm also a 62 year resident of Oakland. I was born at Highland Hospital April 24, 1962. My mother, who's 87 years old, who my care for, is a 65 year patient of Highland Hospital. I am here to support the state litigation. I support all parties working together to move this process forward. I myself benefited from the Oakland Coliseum Arena in 1980. I played for Fremont High School. We won the T.O.C. the Terminant of Champions. And Oakland Unified School District is renowned for bringing forward the greatest athletes in American history that has created one of the greatest sports arena in the world in the NBA, the Major League Baseball, the NFL, track, tennis, and other sports. I'm so excited that the City of Oakland and the County of Alabama have partnered with the African-American sports entertainment group to keep the vitality, to keep hope, and opportunity alive for so many young people as myself, 40 plus years ago, Miss Marquesque. So I'm real thankful that this committee is listening and hearing this body, and I'm appreciative of an opportunity. As a pastor, I have buried over 100 lives of young people who've been murdered in Oakland. And I don't want to continue to do that. I want to see young people have an opportunity to live, to job trainings, to employment, and to fund an entertainment of which the AASIG is going to do for the seat of Oakland. Thank you, thank you to AASIG, and thank you to the TLC. Let me hear you say it. TLC. Let me hear you say it. TLC. That was the last speaker. All right, I want to thank all the speakers to the board of now recess in the closed session. Okay. All right. We're going to take the wrong. Okay. All right. We're going to take the role. Supervisor Halbert, excuse. Supervisor Marquez, President. Supervisor Tam. President. Supervisor Carson, excuse. President Miley. Yeah. Right. I'll pour you back forlause Session, County Council. Thank you. I will now announce out of closed session. In the matter of Esther Goolsbee at all, the county of Alameda at all, Superior Court of California, County of Alameda case number 21CV002126, the board was unable to take an action today. This a matter will appear on the agenda on September 17th for further discussion. However, the board requests that AASCG provide as soon as possible a written and detailed offer to purchase to provide clarity regarding the proposed terms of a purchase deal. The board believes receipt of a proposal will help to move this discussion forward. With a reasonable offer in hand, the board may be prepared to take a public action to initiate negotiations with AASCG. We understand that AASCG has been interested in the purchase for months, so this request is reasonable. With respect to the matter of Castro Valley Investment Group, LLC, the Castro Valley Marketplace, LLC, at all. Alameda County Superior Court Case Number 2-4-CV-07-5116, the board authorized County Council to retain Burke Williams and Sorenson as legal counsel to represent the county in this litigation and any related mediation and authorize the county to execute that retention agreement. The retention agreement has been exercised and this action ratifies the exercise ratifies that retention agreement. So that's the end of my announcement. Oh the vote on the second item was 3-0. And the direction provided by the board was by consensus in the first item. Okay. Right. So the board, 24 is now adjourned. Recording stopped.
