I'm sorry. Good evening and welcome to the September 2024 meeting of the Municipal Arts Commission. My name is Marissa Bowen. I'm the chairperson. Other board members with us here tonight are Melissa Rebe, Jane Walls and Anna Hounder Hernandez. From the Building Department we have Joe Gleermal and from the Department of Development we have Kevin Jimenez who will be reading our agenda. Good evening everyone. So this meeting will commence with a adjourned case. The first case is application number 630224 and application by Brian O'Connor to install two monument signs and two wall signs at one radison plaza. Good evening. My name is Brian O'Cottor, a rolling sign appearing tonight for Webster Bank. Webster Bank is rebranding their system and basically what they're proposing to do is to replace the four existing signs. There are two pile-on faces, one pile on faces, faces river road and the other faces, Rattasin Place, and they're going to be inserted in the existing frame. So there's no change in size or location as far as that. We're here tonight because the logo is larger than the 16 inches that's permitted. So that's the one sign. This is the second sign that's facing rats and plaza. Same size, same reason for our appearance tonight. We're just changing the insert on the sign itself. This sign is a wall sign that's facing river road. We're removing an existing cabinets and installing a new panel sign with illuminated channel letters on a non-illuminated panel. Again, we're here because the logo is a little bit larger than I pick at 23 inches versus what we're allowed is 16 inches. And then facing the side street, same thing, we're replacing existing cabinet up here with panel sign with illuminated channel letters. The panel is not illuminated and again we're here because the logo is larger than the 16 inches that's allowed. So it's four signs replacing four signs. Any questions? The first two, is there any change in lighting? Is it the same as the other two? The first two are blue, the background is blue and these two are silver. Correct. Yes. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. The next application is application number 652024. Application by Rebecca Peralman to install one painting here left at the Pfeclentere Place. I got better to go. I wasn't here the last time I watched the meeting. Sure. So I'm Terrence Malam here on behalf of Rebecca. I work for RXR. We own the Clinton Park Towers. I was here last month with the image at the bottom for approval, which had a buttery yellow background. We went through design intent and I think the decision was the background was a little dated kind of matched some of the more dated buildings in the area that we wanted to avoid. So last month we went back to our curator who spoke to the artist and she basically put three options together for us so I'm hoping we can come to a agreement on one of them. I think they're both really great. I think they have different benefits and they tie to different themes in the neighborhood but although And you know, it's very simple. It's a blue, a pink, and a green. So, the blue is going to steer us more towards the reflection of the sky. Obviously, the building is full of cool gray tones. This is, you know, it keeps things a little bit rich. We had a long discussion about matching the limestone here. We even put a rendering of it together and I think everyone on our side including the artist and curator agreed that it really pulled the artwork back too far into the background for a dark alleyway like this so the colors were something we wanted to stick to. So you've got the blue here and you've got a green option which is very similar more like a sea foamy minty green. This is I think the most vibrant option. It pops the most and then you have this blush color. It says blue here but this is supposed to be blush. This ties a little bit back to the pink tones that can be seen in some of the line zone. And it's a little bit warmer obviously but you know I think really here we're just trying to come to a feel with the groove. So I'm happy to go from image to image if we want to talk through them. They all look great thank you man. They really take the artist you know, take the couple easy choices. Until the artist picked a couple of easy choices for us. Until the artist thank you too, because I know it's been a really crazy idea. We're coming back with the public art to kind of say, could you change? But it's the game changer, I think. Yeah, that's great. I mean, my personal preference is I love the green. I mean, that's my favorite, but I think they're all pinks my Lisa, but I think they're all pinks by Lisa but I think they're all duable, I mean This is a holiday and next to it which does have green also It's a very tight I feel like the art actually pops the best of green. I think I agree with you I think some of the glass in the store front has you know green undertones as well I think it works. And we've got the big street lamp here. Just that's a little bit more cohesion than the other. I agree. Yeah, it's beautiful. Great. Motion to approve. Motion to approve using the green background. I think I'm OK. All in favor? I don't know. To the board members, to board members have joined us. We're going to be going to be going to be going to be going to be going to be going to be going to be going to be going to be going to be going to be going to be going to be going to be going to be going to be going to be going to be going to be going to be going to be going to be going to be going to be going to be going to be going to be going to be going to be going to be going to be going to be going to be going to be going to be going to be going to be going to be going to be going to be going to by Michael Santorraquito to install two wall signs at 25 industrial length. Good evening, Michael Santorraquito with Sant Signs at Onnames, Yachters, New York. Oh yeah, I know this one. Such a traditional shoulder top. I don't know how this one is. There was an idea, I actually made that. So we're here for a Simone development 25 industrial lane, otherwise 70 and 80 in our Dozy place. We've been in front of you several times before for LA fitness, PXG, my salon, Ashley, so forth, so on. Delarusel Laser Vision is another company building into our complex. We're proposing a set of child letters on the parking lot side, which you see here. Those channel letters are face illumination. Those letters are mounted to a rail system, not a raceway. That rail system is painted same color as the building with the intent for it to disappear while the wiring is behind the wall. As you see within the cut sheet here, letter height are called out that logo is at 78 inches but it is proportionate with this 60 foot opening as well as this is 90 inches here from the top that I laid in the bottom of those bands so it's kind of a proportion to that. That's sign one. Sign two as we're coming down from Home Depot in the diner this Hitchhune set of channel letters all staying in tune with the same color cans same color faces internally illuminated channel letters once again mounted to that rail system and then the power supplies will be inside the stairwell. Letter height trickle out there with a 48 inch logo and Finally for There's a reface Which you'll see here which is a two foot by 48 on the existing pile on sign which By zoom in you can see the existing pile on sign here And here's where she's going to be in the host same colors once again We've stayed very consistent. Everything will be blue. Actually, we had no choice. They already had a lease in place, so we had a key gun brown. But this will be blue. Actually, yeah. Actually. So you're room for one more star? One more star. Is the on the right side of LA Fitness, is that a retail location? No, that's all LA Fitness. That's all I can do. This was just divided this way because we didn't know who we were going to get. There's just no sign going on there. Because now that and the possibility of Ashley now relocating, that's going to be a lot of space. So then once again, this may get divided. And obviously we'll be in front of you again. Can you go back to the first slide? Sure. Questions? I'm going to wash it. It's all right. Okay. Do you still not be able to see what the relief is? I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm thing though. I'm next to you. So we're going to move on to the next application, which is application number 702024, application by Michael Santa Lequeiro to install one law sign and approve, to install three, excuse me, three signs and approved lettering at 600 North Avenue. Michael Santillipano, once again, with sand signs and onings, yonkers, we're here representing Toastique for three wall signs. Well, one wall sign. And you see this sign is, it has a non-aluminating background panel and then has channel letters mounted to it. The only illumination will be here will be these faces This logo branding there power two will be eliminated. Double face push through a public laid sign. Where's that located compared to the... Okay, I see it there. If you see it, as Oscar... I was rooming for you. I'm sorry. No, no, it's okay, I got it here. I didn't prepare these plans myself, but you'll see it's here and it'll stay above. We'll keep it above the seven foot six minimum clearance that's required required even though that lines at the wrong spot. This is this is not depicted properly because this store phone is extremely tall. So seven foot six is probably realistically here as you see this is a seven foot door. Here's the top of the door. Okay so this probably is depicted properly but it's's out of scale. In this rendering, yeah, it looks very, it's oversized, but we'll keep it at that seven foot six and the landlord and the owner are within the, are at the meeting present as well, if need be. But here you see the night, aluminum, the night shot of it. So once again, just the letters and the logo will have a nice hue to it. There's another circle sign across the streets in that other building. How does that size compare to that? This is large. This is bigger. This is three feet. And how much is it one across the street? I don't think it's for the business. Right, it's for the purpose. But I'm just thinking of purporting. We're going across the street, Bob. It's like a sign for the other two, like the other one. Yeah, it's just a parking. You know how big that is by the chance? It's really straight key. You know what I'm saying? It just is very disproportionate. ever going on North and he has that huge sign. And he had the parking, it just went, but my concern with this is that this is the path of hundreds of high school students and the afternoon on the way home. And this is a target for jumping. They're gonna, I wouldn't want to. It's just, is it high enough to I can't answer that question before yeah There's a lot of kids that pass by on the way home. Yeah, but they're there that's something that Obviously, we'll have to be you know Contented with with I guess the police department if that does become, but this, this sign is, I don't care if your hands are going to touch it and nothing's going to happen to it. It's a well little lumen and frame. It's a bolted into the wall with a poxy, a healthy poxy. So I can't see that anybody's in unless they were able to jump onto the top of the side and hang on it So at seven foot six that means they got to get to ten foot six. Is it possible? Yeah, it certainly is but I mean I'm the likelihood I don't think so I'm concerned I'm concerned If I may say something to that the arc display sticks out a little bit so that the walking traffic would have to kind of... All the showcasing in those. If you look at that drawing, the art is kind of sticks out there from the bedroom. It just goes down. Right, right there. Oh yeah. So this punches out. And the art display has been pretty favorable with the nice concern. People walking out of the street sometimes because they're half-stopping looking. How far does that artist place the counter-proximate from the building? It's probably at least three to half feet. Okay, so that's almost going to be parallel. It's almost going to be hidden as we're coming towards where we are currently. Well, that's fine, but you have a bus. I've been sort of at the size of it. I think it's really big. Yeah I hope so we would like to see a little bit small. Three teeth. Like a lot. So what are we saying? Two feet, 30 inches. And what's the cause for such? If the sign for the parking, I think this is drawn wrong and forgive me. But I think it appears to be larger than it really is going to be. And if that parking sign is three feet across the street and we've already have an approval within that same, wouldn't it make sense that we keep it consistent? No, I agree with you, but I think this is bigger. I do think this is bigger than the parking side. I agree. I mean, my more of consistency, and if that's three feet, I think this is bigger than three feet. Or if this is three feet, I think it's smaller than three feet. Yeah, but I agree with you. I think they should imagine there should almost be something, some sort of consistency. Exactly. With through it. Exactly. So that's why I'm trying to pull the picture. But we don't know what they're cause. Let me just pull it up here. I don't think it's that far off. If you look at the door that's seven feet high and you just take that circle and move it into the seventh foot doorway I think it's pretty close. I don't think it's that far off in terms of rendering. Yeah, just because of the perspective though, it throws it off. So it's next impossible to give it a true depiction. Yeah, but we all know it's a very thing. That's right, big. Yeah. But remember that three feet is also including the arm and the surround so that time panel within it is not Three feet because they have that decorative arm Here's the sign right there. And that's 8 or 10 inches deep. That's... If we count the bricks... What we're drawing says the disk is 36 inches. So that's... The arm is 3 foot 3-5. The arm is 3 foot 3-5. Sorry, sorry. Yeah, sorry, 6 feet. Huh? Is it about 36 inches? 36 inches, just the disc, and then it has a decorative arm outside it's an old 3-ampage. It's about it. And that's signs 3 feet or greater that that existing one right there. You count those amount of bricks 3.5 inches per brick. I mean, you have a half inches per brick. You have the next gauge right? It's high-conjured driving. It's kind of an instrument. I would like to compare it because I feel like we need some consistency. Do you want to have him start from here doing the next one too? You can listen. I'll go down the street. I'll measure it and come back. I'm surprised that he's out there. Are we still here? I would say this thing is good. Based on the bricks. If I let her in, I think it's what counts as 20 or 21. So I would love to come here for that. So let her in bigger than this one. On the slow pass. To be the slow pass is like apples and oranges. Yeah. Because this is a circle and that is a circle. And you're not right across, but you're kind of right across. So that's where I'm like, that's why I mean, it could be that everything's three feet, that it's like it's just more, it's a proportion, but that's why I just want to compare and say. I agree with you. The Toe Steak sign, you're going to present the Top of Project next, which is the same building. You have very different type of signs. They're two different businesses. I would like them to see the sign you're talking about. Okay. Okay. Well, we're on hold for this, but you can't stand it. Okay. So we're going to go into the next one. Yes. So we're going to go over. You know what's going on? You're going to get up and go over. It's very different. So we're going into application number 712024, application by Michael Sanzo-Lucuito to install one wall sign and approve design and lettering at 600 North Avenue. We're going to have that. The Taco Project letter is similar to the illustrators. Correct. to be able to illustrate. Correct, and so is to go back to Tostique. So is Tostique. The difference is Tostique is on a black background, a light-failure striker is. Whereas the Taco Project is individual mounted letters directly to the wall. And the difference is here is that these letters were going to light forward and backwards. So they're facelift, and halo-lit. It really is the prettiest of all signs, and probably the most costly, that someone could make and invest in their business. We did the same project for them in Stanford, and it really looks beautiful on top. Is there a reason why you didn't go with that size expense, but that look on the other side? The Toastique is a national chain. And their sign manufacturer is in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. They manufacture all of them around the country. They have their brand-new expects, but they must follow. And is it the dark background as part of the branding set or correct It has to be in everyone they buy don't I don't have that answer for you Yes, it has to be in every we do we do have the owner of toasty Fridge I see and that's We can't change it. That's Laura's son company. Uh-huh Bring over and it's that's this presentation. So they all have to look the same. Right. The interior, everything about as to look like a few longer is we're going to be the first post-deacon New York and the closest one is her boat in New Jersey and if you go with that one and you come in the mine they look very, you know, like it would be hard to tell the difference except you know depending on the size. Right. I mean, I don't care about all the black bags around the other ones. I'm just thinking about this building. Here's consistency. Oh, and here's one on this, uh, put out the background. Here is one? Yes. Which one's that one? Oh, that's exactly what you're thinking. There is one in Denver. Denver Colorado. It does have the logo, but it does not. It doesn't have a wrap crown. Can you go on Google to a steep Denver? It's a stiff and old aluminum for the rest of the cannot. Let's get that one. It's kind of disservice. So I don't know why we would even consider that with- Because it's consistently within the direct sense of the building. It looks exactly like the illustrator though. No, because you have illustrator, you have a black background in the middle, and then you have now this taco project that has white, and then you have this. And then you have another one of the black background. Yeah, but it's individuality for each business. Each business has its own font image. It's shown font. It has its own color. It has its own logo. I mean, my guess is these buildings here probably have the same issue with the consistency just based on looking at the buildings? So this is different here in regards to they're sitting on awnings. And to stick is a one line setup and the joint chiropractor that you're looking at right now is a multi line setup so they had no way to attach the other joint and chiropractor in one, whereas a one line set up the grill, but put it on a raceway. Yeah, I'm looking at at least three different ones. One and over, one and a half outer springs. Look at this one. This one's silver. This one's silver. It is possible to go ahead and do it. And if it is, we have to go back to the client. But with the gold returns, we're not going to have any contrast on that building. Where is one that's all white? That's a chestache. And there's several ones where they don't have a black background and they have different colors. They didn't do it. You have a contrasting off the facade of the building. If we go back to, I don't know what this is because it's too steep linked in. You have to steep and you see it's a lighter background with the white lettering, which I mean it's probably similar to that, is this and it makes, and it actually breaks the logo pop out. I don't know, but I can't read read which is showing me from the contrast point. No I didn't really mean to see it I meant to say from a readability point of view. You can't see read what that is. There's no contrast between the faces and the wall. But we're looking big picture though I guess that's what it's a busy street of snorke Avenue if there's black... So Steve is not looking at the big picture. So Steve wants their name to be red. But we are. I understand, but there has to be a happy medium that you're doing a disservice to the people who are paying taxes here. That doesn't make sense. Well, I think we look at Taco Project also. We're looking at the whole building. It's one building. If it was next door, it's a different building than I think, but we're looking at a big building. We're looking at one big building and having to have consistency. And I understand there's different businesses there, but the whole thing, this whole group has been wanting to be consistent. We have turned down other signs because it wasn't consistent. And people actually paint buildings for consistency. So that's the only thing. So we want to work with you and we want to understand. I know I understand and I've always worked with you for 30 years. Right. But as my client is sitting here, I guess we could pose this question to him if he is willing to go ahead and entertain such. The other side of the other side of the head, you go back to that. Which one of the other side of the other side of the head. Can we go back to that? Which one? Yeah, to go back to the inside. To top of our truck and the taco. Oh, yeah, just look at taco again. Good, sure, here. And my phone please. Oh, I was gonna put it in my pocket as a fact. Trust me, you know what I do? The front of the sliders are white. I got enough problems. I don't need your phone. The water still contains the elimination. You know, that tax sign is very legible, very readable. It's better looking than the other one. But to have them on either side of the main entrance with some consistency, it's something we're looking at. Okay, but this has black cans though. This was brought out by us because of the contrasts with the building. Instead of doing the three-inch can, I believe we did a five-inch deep can to give us more girth. So if you have more black here, then you have that contrast that I'm looking for. I hear you saying, but I can listen to you and hear your creativity. Creativity, putting it on the other side of the same entrance. What can you do to make it look more balanced, more similar without being the same? Well, what I would have to do is make it a five inch deep can, remove the backer panel. Separate the logo. Well, it wouldn't have the backer panel, then it would turn into a remote application like Taco Projectis. That would be the Taco Project individual letters, the illustrator individual letters, and then toastyk in individual letters. The only difference would be is that illustrator is facelift, flexi, sir? Eric? So I disagree. You have illustrator to seek with consistency with the black or brown backdrop and it's actually in the framework, the little classy taco project in white. It goes against, it goes with what you're saying. It blends in with the wall. I guess your lights go to project more, but I would go with the framework of illustrator and to stick with the white letters in the black or brown backdrop. And then you have three that are consistent, but putting to stick in the white letters doesn't make sense to me. Three say you would change to taco project. White? Yeah, the white blends would take the project. From this angle or image you are looking at, you may think such, but with a 5 inch deep can that is black, this will have contrast in the day and in the night and especially at night it will be far superior to the others and in this instance we would have to we it would be this backer panel would be substantially bigger than illustrator and substantially bigger than to sneak so now now if you start pushing backer panels then you have backer heights that would be inconsistent so I would think from an overall perspective looking at the building I'm envisioning it right now that I think that would be worse off and be more weighted that you would have too heavy over here and Too white over here Whereas if the letters are individual Even if they're bigger or wider and they take up more height, it's kind of more consistent. Personally, I would leave everything like it. I'm just saying to our unions that you have consistency with the two. Why don't they just open it up? But you know, they're all three individuals. But it's one building though. How about something like this? Just to stick. Yeah, and like they're using a darker can. You see what once they're using a darker can, which goes back to what I was saying to you before with with the taco project. So they're giving a contrast. It's still there colors. It still has some color. Oh, the logo is separate. Do we want to go back to the projecting signs since Joe's. No, you can finish that one. Okay. Finish this one. Okay. Only because there was the same outlook and I figured, okay. Yes, you are. Okay. Then I got the wrong folder the first time. How about you would take a picture? No, no, no, no, I went to get the folder of the addresses there. It's not consistent. Okay. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no I said I didn't necessarily agree with you and I think the other thing that's going to happen too is that we're going to increase the size of the lettering on Toastie and the logo to fit better in that band and be more consistent with Taco Project to the other side. So we're going to take it even to the next step. Something like this can happen. Possibly. Remember, I'm third party now. I still got to go back to branding and Southeast sign. So I'm still the sub here, but we work to a lot of work with him. So I mean, I think you hear what I was saying, because I think you're saying, OK, if we take this out and we put the white letters, we're going to have to make the letters bigger to be consistent with it. That's fun. I mean, again, I think part of it is looking at it and making sure it's consistent. It's branded, but it's, because we, again, this group has done, has denied other buildings, smaller buildings, we're not being consistent. And so I think we have to be consistent with what our messaging is. I'll mine your side. Yeah. So I mean, if it has to be bigger in order to be weighed correctly, then it does. I mean, I rise in the vast more important. And if these two applications were at the same time because they weren't, you would have seen this as one shot. Which means we, the other one, would prime head been better traveled when we were taking advantage of that. If it was done, we didn't do it. But you know what I mean? You didn't go on representing both. We didn't design both. Right, right. But I'm saying like if some of the movie's gonna be like that, we just spoke over there. I think we're all kind of thinking that if we wait this. Yeah. Okay. We're going on the top of the project. Tosique, you're going to come back? You want a Geron Tosique or... Yeah, you can bring the owner up. The owner can come up. Do we want to... Do we want to... Do we want to join it? Because they want to try to open November. So what you can do to... That would take a bit of the assignment. Yeah, but October means the first week of October. No, they have to advocate the thing. I mean, I guess we could do with amendment, but then the amendments, you can't go against the amendment. You know what I mean? It's going to be very difficult without a rendering. It's going to be very difficult without a rendering and they will allow you to open up with the temporary signs. That's a snow-covered achievement. So what are they saying for those details? Limit the back propanel and just make it match the talk to the project. So what he's saying is you can lim make the letters bigger which as long as it's proportionate it's weighted then that makes sense. You don't want this to be big and it's very small. That's the same issue that we're out of here. But if it's consistent you're looking at it and actually makes a little straighter pop up Even more because that's kind of the center or that's the main part The tricky part is if they go bigger the notices incorrect because now the letters may not be compliant 16 I think the T is 16, so that means that the lower case letter is 10. So they say the same signs? No, the T is really a big thing. No, the hard to keep it up. What they're trying to negotiate to you is if you were to move, the wedding is trying to say is if you were to remove the back of the panel and leave it as is, they wouldn't have to send out notices to people and say, you're going to end up doing yourself a disservice. It's too small. It's too small. It's too small. It's too small. How I'm going to take the parking garage across the way. I don't make a report. What do you have? You have the block sign. I don't know. I mean, is there any way, Joe, if you have to change the lettering size? Can I have the arm approval, arm approved, or make that, at least give them that sign? Well, hold on. I need to file a whole new application. I know, I know it's pretty easy for you. How much is the parking? Again, it may not be an issue. So the neighboring parking time across the street is a little bit more than three feet. And just put it inside. Give it the exact number just to be precise. So it's on all the way downstairs. Give it the exact number just to be precise. So I'm going to hold it out there for you. The difference is when I'm going on that now. No, but you must be okay. So the retail parking across the street, 38 and 3-quarter inches in diameter, it projects off the building 4-foot-4 inches, and the thickness of the overall of the sign is 10 inches. So I think the Toastyieke was only 6 inches. It's about the same size, it's a few inches smaller, but they have that retail parking that stretches out that full projection. So the diameter of the circle is 38 inches and 38 3 1r. So that's out. It sticks out. It sticks out. It sticks out. It sticks out. It sticks out. It sticks out. It sticks out. It sticks out. It sticks out. It sticks out. It sticks out. It sticks out. It sticks out. It sticks out. It sticks out. It sticks out. It sticks out. It sticks out. So I'm not going to go. So that's me next. I'm not paying attention to that picture, but it makes it look funky. Okay. So we're going to go to the top of project. And we're going to go on this circle. We can't. Because it's a quiet area. As much as I really want to say yes to you, I give back. It's not going to let me. So just just to be clear, we're going to, we're going to go on application 7-1-2024. That is, that is the talk of the talk of Roger Jess. Yes. Okay. So, Steve, you want to adjourn? You'll send him a ring? Yeah, we have no choice. We'll send you a ring ring. I'll them next or I'll expedite it if I have I should have all in well your journey So you automatically on the next meeting? Okay, so Sure, well, some reason you get the lane needed get it a little extra bit of banner permit for you, if you need it. Yeah, off to over the November, it's possible. Wait real quick, is the new white sign match the circular sign? Does that all come up next? You guys will say one doesn't match the other. So really, you should look at that too. Does your sign that comes out of the wall? Do you want to bring that to a side? I see you get a white up and then we'll officially adjourn and I want to go back and go back on the show. Yeah, so see if the top change is to the white letter. Does it? Do you agree that the sign, the circular sign matches? I don't know. I've come back in December. Oh, oh. Oh. You guys have to be black. Yeah, I think that's not going to be a black background. I'll just make this here. Yeah. Good point though. Good point. Yeah, this is it. I don't want to come back three times. Yeah, no. But do you understand something like this is what we're thinking. Right? Everyone sees it. The camera sees it. Alright, so let's make a motion on Application 71-2024. First 70-2024. Make a motion to adjourn it. So make a motion to adjourn. Jane, motion to adjourn. 70-2024. Okay. Second. Second. All in favor? Okay. adjourned. Okay. A motion to approve application 71-2024. Jane's second. Second. Second. All in favor? Aye. Thank you. Thank Hi. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. I'll see you next month. I'm good. We'll be here. Appreciate you, Hal. Look around. Okay. The next application on the agenda is Application 7-2-02-4. Application by Deborah Mustage to approve one wall sign of legalized design and lettering at 705 Main Street. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. All right, this guy blew it up. If you wish yourself first. Yeah. America, I have my group. Okay, what do we have to say about this thing? So this sign was installed without an application? Yeah, so the history of this is an individual, took out a building permit, opened up a restaurant there. Got pretty far along from what I understand and decided not to open and a new business owner took over and went ahead and changed the name, installed the sign, and didn't file for it first. So obviously the letters are too tall, it projects above the parapet wall. What else? The area exceeds the maximum permitted. Those are a few issues. There's the neighboring. Are these individual buildings? No. Is one building over the businesses? Is the street came there? It's on the corner of Beachwood. Yes. It's the... Yeah, I think the cone of the homes was here all the way. The cones are top to here also. Here's my concern before we start talking about it. Is we just went through a whole or someone did it right. They applied for the permit. They're having to go back and change everything. They're having to make it because we're again, you know, that's we were trying to get consistent. You have someone who goes row, who just puts it up and I know it's expensive to bring it down and it's expensive, but we're kind of, I don't want to reinforce bad behavior because then you're going to get people just panpsing and be like, oh sorry. So just so that's where I'm, I feel horrible because it looks like a very expensive sign and it looks like you know you took over a business but my, we just went through a big pain about consistency and I just feel like it's not fair for someone who did follow the rules and versus someone who did follow the rules And first of all, he was on the rules Well, just to reinforce that there is a legalization fee of $600 for any sign that's installed without a permit So that goes on top of all the other permafee's So by the grants, I thought that was something You got absolutely the picture So the signal bad man, so the top tier Top tier incoinded? The one that stood out? I believe so. I don't believe they appeared before the board. But then sometimes you don't have to, unless it's... Right. Top tier has a double store front, storefront so they have more area. The sign is way too big. You've got a palm tree that's sticking over the edge. It's not the look that we're trying to achieve for our little city. It's very big for that small storefront. It's a great logo. Great look. It's a liquor fee. It's great. It's easy to do. It's a small, cheap, cheap store. It's like a drink in a drink. It's like a drink in a drink. It's like a drink in a drink. It's like a drink in a drink. It's like a drink in the dryer. Yeah, exactly what? Wash it hot water for the dryer. I know you're not the installer, but can you speak on the construction of an old to them? Is it easy to find a channel lettering on a backer board? Yeah, and I mean is it possible to backboard is the channel lettering? Yeah, I don't know I would have talked to him and see what he wants to do with that The backer board is nice. I like it. You know, it just he did overwhelming with the lettering We're looking at Approximately almost 31 inches on the out because of the angle that it has. What is the size of the lower case letters? The lower case letters? Like the peak. Could they reduce the element of the case? The C is 26, so I mean we're looking probably half the distance of that part 13 inches. So where I'm going is change the capitals and see whether we can work with the low case letters and the potty. Yeah, that part three is not a complete region. Yeah, and then the potty has to be re-planted to the world. They'll be able to see if we bring the boundary down. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. But it's about five inches above. Right. And what point does the landlord get responsible? And maybe he should pay the $600. Yeah, right? Yeah. Yeah. I'll have Jesus. Jesus. I have to say something. Clearly leaving that and changing the capitals I'm not a big pumped pink thing but okay. The pumped drink needs to be the same size and scale as the capital letters what they're turned into. Yeah, I agree. So everything is uniform. I'm not even sure the palm tree is really in a hand thing any of that, but it's not enough. The word itself tells you the nature of the business. Yeah. I don't know if everyone can increase the number of days. I'm working on it. She put it back in the curriculum. Yes. Of course it's not. I'm working on it. She put it back in the curriculum. Yes. So we're thinking we're doing this case and come back. So we're moving the palm tree, making it smaller or just a capital letters be smaller. You could speak to your client, you know submit the revised drawings two weeks before the next meeting. So the board has time to review it. And if the referral has to be updated, you know, you have time to update the referral before the next meeting. Okay, so we're at 31. So, all right. Two cap of letters, the first two letters, the palm tree, all the same size. That's good savings. Very good compromise. Could we give them the amount of inches for the capital letters? Well, he's going to go back and measure the other ones that could be the number. And the detail, yeah. And put them in our proportions. I mean, I know it's supposed to be 16 inches. Yeah. There you go. So maybe you can do that with the caps. Okay. So maybe you can do that with the caps. They'll still look like a capital letter, even if they're 60. Yeah. I guess it's the first little box. And I do think that's the hell. Yeah. And they ain't. I think if you do that, and he really wants to keep the palm tree, and I think it's small, I don't think the palm tree's going to look so. I think it'll all look proportionate or ship with a bomb that can stick out as much. Okay, and then then. Yeah. Okay. Okay. Any more questions to the board? Really table, yeah. No. I guess go back to him, talk to him, and see what he says. Motion to adjourn. Okay. Like I said, just email me the rendering. Step in, rendering. Okay. We're not going to share. email me the rendering step and rendering. Kevin. So this is the next portion of the agenda. We're moving into administrative items, artist certifications. The first individual that we have presenting is Attiana Barnes. Yes, please. Yes, please. Please. Thank you. Good afternoon, everyone. Hi. How are you? Good. Good evening. Hello. Hi. How are you? I want to thank you. Oh. Much better now, first. Oh, yes. So I'm going to put two minute timer, and then it will just give you an opportunity to talk about who you are, why you're applying to be a certified artist. And even if you want to display some of your work that's here, you can also do that as well. And we reviewed your packaging. So you're not going to have to do it. So you don't do everything here. You're just something, you know, anything that you really want to display. And then the board will ask you a question at the time. Well, like a second evening, one of my name is ASEANO GORNJONES. I'm originally from Union's El New York. I located to a show on a I'm in Roe College, the Honors College. I graduated in April and I'm looking to apply for an apartment. I think this certificate will just strengthen my opportunity to look for your apartment. You know, everybody wants to live comfortably and etc. I've been dancing for about 10 years, teaching, I've done a couple of music videos. I've done a lot in the city of Nourishal, aside from being the major red captain of the Monroe College of Dance Line, I have taught children at the Pre-Dur-Bray Sea Foundation, which is on Main Street. It's the building. Is that the picture that is in your application? Yes, it's the one I don't know which is exactly what it is. It's not sure. It's a real cute picture. I love it. Yeah. It's like on the top I think. Oh, so this was in high school. This was the last performance I did for my high school packing in New New York for graduation. Tristan's also in the New New New New High School. It was in New New New New New. This is me teaching. This is, again, in New New New New New. These are babies. I love ballet. That's so cute. Yeah. These are my babies. This is me at the college last year for a homecoming game. So this is for Miss Dibert alongside Miss J. She owns New Begin's dance studio and she offered an opportunity as her lead role as Miss Singleton. Miss Singleton is a character who she experiences a lot of anxiety and sorry. She goes through a lot of drinking bombs and etc. Because she just feel like she's, you know, by herself. So I got to embody this character through acting and the gift of dance and then which is some remarkable experience. Right. Thank you. Do I speak or do I? Shall I don't know? So we'll review and then the board will vote independently, collectively, and then I'll send you an email with a decision. That's more than any questions. Any other questions? Yes, I have a question. Have you looked at any of the buildings in the research? Yes. Which one are you looking at? I think it's called the Renaissance. Okay. Yeah, I looked into that one. There's one close to my school. I'm not sure what's the name of it. I also looked at the Stella as well. Given that the proximity of my school, I'm studying human services and with that I want to be a school guidance counselor or admissions or something in the nature of education. So, you know, it would be nice to live closer to the school as I would like to work for the school after graduate. Thank you everyone for listening. You have posted to the school as I applied to go to school after graduate Next application for an artist certification is Vane Dottry. Hello everyone how you doing today? Good morning. So my name is Val in Dottry. I'm here to apply for the Artistic certification. I did bring some physical portfolios. You guys can pass them around and physically look through a measure wish. Just give me one second to pull them out. So the first tool I'm pulling out is it has some of my process work in it so you can just see how I've got how I kind of just work out my ideas and get them to a finishing product. This next portfolio has some work that I submitted in the application. This work that's here has images from a series of personal projects that I've been working on for some time now That encompasses black icons and teaching the community These portraits here all have Augments reality So yes, so in addition to being a local artist in the Rochelle I am on the committee of the Rotunda Gallery and we just had an exhibition called Speaking To Out Ancestors and myself in this Linhoney set we carried a communicative with some artists in the local area and we had an exhibit here. In addition to that, I'm also a teaching artist. I'm a mirrorless. My last project went up in Yonkers in partnership with Yonkers Hearts in partnership with the Metro North and the MTA. We did a sign that just represents Yonkers and I collaborated with the LVN8CJFrease. I did some animation and some augmented reality components. I do have some more work on my website if you guys like. I can pull that up. One of the reasons why I'm applying for the certification is because I've been working out of the second bedroom in my house for some time now. I'm a new dad as a January. I'm a great awake for being a new dad. So yeah, those are traditional and digital. So those are traditional and the sizes are roughly around 36 by 26 and then what I do is I photograph them, scan them and then I kind of touch them up so that I can have prints to sell. So additional to being a new dad that second bedroom is now nursery and all of my artwork is kind of now in storage. I do work at the Fashion Institute of Technology. I'm a program counselor with the Education Opportunity Program Office. I have a ton of kids that I'm responsible for. Tonight was Art Lab, so we do a art therapy session where we kind of help some of our students kind of deal with art blocks. This message just started. In addition to that, I just thought of my master's degree. So I'm doing MFA in illustration and I'm juggling everything right now. I think that this would be a benefit to my creative process. I've been, since I've been in New York Shell, I've been building community. I'm on the board of organization in Yonkers, called We Are One. And we partnered with the Atelier, which is one of the new buildings that just went up. We partnered and we did Artists Mixer, where I contacted a ton of local artists here at New York Shell and it was all on the dime of the until the year. And there was a gentleman that was a part of this office. I would assume that came out and gave a speech about the artist certificate. And we also had to reserve from New York Council with the arts. She came and she spoke and gave some information to the local artists. So, in addition to being an artist and being a student and being an educator, I loved to build community within the arts. So, with that being said, I'll show some images from a website if you guys are interested. How long have you been teaching at FIT? I've been at FIT now for five years. I started out as an assistant part history professor. And now I'm a program counselor. I'm great going to the masters. I'm going to FIT. So a part of working at FIT is that you get tuition exemption. And easy commute. Amazing. Yeah, so right after leaving the office, I just had across the street and a start classes. Okay. So, this is my website. This is kind of my graphic logo that I've been working on trying to feed. This is a project. So this section right here is called My Sketchbook. I think it's important to show your process. People are really interested in your process and how you make things and get your ideas flushed out. So I'll click here since this is the first image. So with this is a pizza rat I was dealing with building world and I have a thing with Star Wars and I had this idea if the empire comes to New York and they drain New York of all of its resources all of our kind of rodents and pests kind of mutate and they become one. So I coined this guy, Peter Rat, and these are just all ideas, combining squirrels and pigeons and rats and flushing it out. You know sometimes some of them looked a little too friendly, some of them looked like Pokemon and I kind of wanted to continue working it out, and this is kind of what I showed you guys here in this portfolio that I brought with me today, and then we got to use all of the sketches, and then we get to a final, and this is some of my kind of illustrative work. And I'll keep going. This here is the Yonkers Arts and Mirro that I just mentioned to you guys. And this is the animation that I was responsible for. The next station is 122 Street. So um, I like your tag, right? Thank you, it's great. So um, the mirror has augmented reality, so if you have your tablet or your phone, you can put it up to the mirror and then this animation plays. So I would love to partner with, I'm mirrorless myself, but if I can have the opportunity to collaborate with an artist here in the Rochelle, where we can, you know, bring one of our mirrors to life, that's kind of one of my secret projects, I'm just gonna do someone's mirror contact them and see if we can collaborate. I'm so sick of it anymore. I've been talking to Teresa about it. She thinks it's a wonderful lot. Yeah, it's great. You know, our fest is coming up and we just had a gentleman speak about installing a mirror. And I get excited about the beautification. Murrow Sheldon's coming through this Renaissance. You know, he got all these buildings coming in, all these new people coming in the neighborhood. And I think if I could be a part part that, I think that would be great. I just need to go to one last thing. Okay, okay. These are just some of the images from the mirror, so I'm just going to show you some of the images of the letters and things like that. That's kind of it. Very nice. Thank you. Any questions from me, anything? That's fine. All right. So we're following that. That's good. I'm kind of in my house. I'm going to free you in. Well, thank you for having me. I appreciate your gifts. I appreciate your return. Let me be a female within the next week or two. OK. Thank you. Thank you very much. Thank you. I think you can squirrels in my backyard. Every tomato. Mine you might sunflower. I'm going to go on this cust. Yeah. Kevin, are there any other? No, that's bad. We'll be the end of today's meeting. And the future? The future? That's an old vehicle. I have to pay you the chance and I need one. Thank you.
