I'm going to put it in the fridge. I'm going to put it in the fridge. I'm going to put it in the fridge. I'm going to put it in the fridge. I was feeling very, very optimistic. I'm sorry. All right. Call the order to the Council of the City of Thomasville, regular meeting for Monday, March 10, 2025. Please stand for the implication by the Councilmember Lucinda Brown. It pledge allegiance by Mayor Pro Temppteresha. As we come together Lord, I pray that you help and help us to make the right decisions for our city, our communities and our town. Help us to be able to help those who are in need. Lord, take care of everyone up here. We are really in need of prayer all the time. And everyone who is here with us and all over this city. Thank you, Jesus, for hearing what we wanted to say today. Thank you. I've played a dedctions to the flag of United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation under God in the middle of the month with liberty and justice for all. All right, okay, you know, motion a second for the approval of the regular meeting minutes of February 24, 2025. Some move. Motion by Mr. Scott. Second. Second by Mr. Chastain. In discussion, all in favor say aye. Aye. It is unanimous. Next is recognition of the Cyberslingers, Gold and Blue Robot Please come forward. Oh, I don't know what you're doing. Oh, I don't know what you're doing. All right, these are team members from the Golden Blue team from the Cypress Seniors at Central, coached by Brian Bellamy and I'll let you go ahead and introduce them and talk about their accolades. So here we have members of both our Golden Blue Cypress Stinger State who have qualified for the World championship this year in Houston, Texas next month. We have from the goal team, we have Clayton Slusher, he's our team captain, Landon McMullod, Chaston Harrison, and that's all a goal team that we have with us tonight. They have a total of seven members now, because they added one just recently. And then for blue team we have our team captain on very end there, Mawn Patel, and then next to him is Jared Castillo, Rudra Patel, and Alex Hankins. And we were lucky enough, several engineer and operations guys, Eric Britt, Jeremy Tre and I were able to mentor these guys. So we really enjoy working with you and getting to know the youngsters here. So we're so proud of them that they're going. Can I ask what will they be doing at work? So each team will be traveling with their robots, their equipment, they'll set up. There's three major aspects to what they do in their competition. And is the Roblox performance where they compete in five matches and then try to qualify for playoffs at the end of the competition. And then the matches they ally with other teams from this place around the world at the George State Championship is from around Georgia and there. They also, another major aspect is the way they connect with science technology and engineering in the community around them, above learning and sharing. And so that's been a major part of their season, and the city was a huge help with that. This year, the big part of their accomplishments, and then a third component is they are put together in engineering portfolio that can be more than 15 pages that demonstrates everything they've done through their design, their outreach, their business plan and everything. And they have managed to, both teams have managed to design two of the best portfolios I've seen in the entire nation, but it's less in our local competitions this year. And so that also was a big part of their company. I got a chance to see them in the Rotary Meaghan. Man, it was amazing. I mean, the robots, I mean, the controlling everything. So y'all did an amazing job. I was well pleased with what y'all did there. So I commend y'all for what y'all have done. I wish y'all the best luck and success. Yeah, so I was there. I'd love to see the road box one day. They're themselves. We'll be qualified for the... So I did not expect in my entire career to necessarily ever have one team qualified to go into this competition that we qualified for, because out of the state of Jordan, we had about 170 teams now in the state of Georgia. Only four did the go to the board. Yeah, yeah. And so we're two of the four teams that made the mom the state of Georgia today. One first place, in essence, what they won this year is first place for the state of Georgia, the state championship, and fourth place. And so they, uh, they've been winning. Which team's going win to blew it the goal? Hehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehe if y'all want to stick around for the rest of the meeting y'all can if you don't then you are free to leave. Thank you all again. I know a lot of hard work went into that, a lot of afternoon after school hours. May it was amazing be hard, remember, since you have three minutes in our attorney, Mr. Sanders will keep the time. First is Jackie Leatherman, Scott will introduce her. Jackie? Yeah. Is Jackie where is she going? She stepped back. She's in that for you there. Okay. Before the love of the speaker, I just wanted to do a quick introduction. I'm the chair of the tourism authority over the past two years and as everybody will counsel those who have been going through a transition which included a strategic plan. We've had new contracts with the city, may some of the limits to some of our biolols. And our tourism authority gets 3.5% of the 8% of the total motel tax to promote and market our destination. And the combination of all that work is really the ability to hire a new president, CEO of the authority. And we're excited to have Jacky Leatherman here. She started last week and so she wanted to come and just meet you guys and just kind of herself so jack out once you do that but thank you. Thank you council member and mayor council thank you so much for this opportunity to stay a few words. It's an honor to be here and to help continue the foundation that the city has set for the positive economic impact of tourism in the county and here at Thomasville. They were just grabbing their contact information because I think it would be great to be able to figure out how to incorporate their robots and a community demonstration for everybody to see and enjoy. So I look forward to working with the city and to the county government. So thank you and we're here for you. Thank you, Mr. Lether. We're glad to have you. I know you've already started working because I've seen you out. Yes, I'm trying to be everywhere. Alright, next is Miss Candy Henderson, 1453 Ag and Butter Road. Right. Okay, I'm back. My mission is 100% where you're wondering if go by 2035, but not just going to give a shout out to the citizens Academy. I don't know if y'all have done it. Maybe it is really interesting in the midst of it right now. And so one thing I want you to, Mike, the students in this Academy manager and he and the County Court of Re, rather than sitting together and it's really, it's really, really well done. Her replay for eights, 10 weeks, always at first in nights for three hours, you know her. So anybody hearing this, the interested in doing it is. That's it. But the thing I wanted to point out was something my students and shared with us in the very first night. And he said probably, or I've been saying probably the most important piece of information through the first session of Citizens Academy with these three dynamic characteristics of public sector organizations. And it kind of gives you the difference between what you all do and what a corporation might do as far as managing that is concerned. The first one he says, we deliver as a public sector. We deliver services vital to the health and safety of the community. The second, we deliver services, the private sector will not provide. And the third, we mandate collective payment for services provided, taxes. OK. And to me, this is what states government is apart from corporate management. And to me, this is what is democracy. I mean, this is democracy, it's the most basic. And that's why I'm doing the assistance cabinet. That's why I come here all because we need to promote local democracy so that maybe the people above us will also follow the democratic rules. Thank you. Thank you, Miss Seniors. Glad to see you here tonight. All right, next on the agenda is the adopted agenda. Could they get a motion of a second adopt the agenda? Some motion by Mr. Chastain. Second. Second by Mr. Baker. Any discussion? All in favor say aye. Aye. It is unanimous. First on the agenda is old business. Executive Director of inspections and engineering Mark Harman. He said it on its to demolish unfit structures in Townsville, Georgia, second reading of it on its to demolish an unfit structure located at 509 West Clay Street. Thank you, Mr. Mayor Council. Nothing has changed in this package for either of these structures since I spoke to you a little over two weeks ago initially. All right, the first one, 509 West Clay Street, can I get a motion and a second? Some move motion by Mr. Scott. Second. Second by Ms. Brown in discussion. All in favor say aye. Aye. It is unanimous. The second one is the second reading that of ordinance to demolish an unfit structure located at 821 Oak Street. Gonna get a motion and a second. Some move motion by Mr. Scott. Second by Mr. Baker in discussion. All in favor say aye. Aye. It is unanimous. Thank you. All right next is Newgbiz the city attorney Timothy Sanders. First all the audits to accept 8,758 square feet of real property adjacent to fire station number two. Good evening, Mayor and Council. I'm just going to work out Wednesday. It's concerned we're going to work out the real property that's adjacent to fire 2. This would be a convey from a former member of 1720, South Country Boulevard. The horse that you see on the ride is Fire Station 2. Of course on the left is 1720. And this next slide to it. The dash that you see is running in your right left or is on the right right, outlines this very near as sliver. It's about 21 feet as wide as point where it fronts contrary to the lower and the runs. For a very long narrow triangle, the back of the property. As I said on Wednesday, this will clear up basically a title issue where both legal descriptions overlap each other, barely sell or willing to give this to the city to clean up. It kind of squares up the properties. Yes, it does. All right, can you get a motion in a second? So moved. Motion by Mr. Jess Thane. Second. Second by Mr. Brown in discussion. All in favor say aye. Aye. It is unanimous. I would be chief financial officer Ashley Kason. Resolutions to distribute local option sales tax loss funds for recreation to the cities of Boston, Coolidge, Megs, O'Claughtney and Paybub. Good evening, May I have been counsel. There is no new information since last week. You are familiar with this item. We issue $5,000 to the surrounding returns and to use for recreational purposes only. We don't have any questions. I request the Council to consider a resolution for the distribution of lost funds of 5,000 each to the cities of Barrickic, Boston, Coolidge, Mego. And it makes a continent in Payton. I recommend 20 purposes. All right, kid, get a motion in a second. It's a little motion by Miss Brown. Exactly. Second by Miss Scott in discussion. All the favor say aye. Aye. It is unanimous. Next again, the Executive Director of the Inspections Engineering Mark Harmon, Resolution to Awarded, Beared for Phase 2, for 233 West Jackson Street, Gateway to the Effort Theatre Project. Thank you again, Mayor. The Council, nothing has changed since the presentation from the end of the last week. We glad to hear from you, Mayor. Can I get a motion in a second? So moved. Motion motion, just a second. Second, we're going to Scott in discussion. All in favor say aye. Aye. It is your name. Thank you, Mayor and Calcutta. Item D. Grants at Minnesota Palm Shop. All in favour say is you know it's good I get a that ends all the printed agenda is see me you have anything miss Kason miss Sanders there's white there's not this even miss Scott, Scott? No, sir. Is Chess staying? I just wanted to take an opportunity. I don't think I got to, during the workshop, to introduce my honorary council member of the web, Miss Lauren Arwood. She's been serving on the DTBA, the tourism authority board over the past two years, or this and going over her second year. And it's been very helpful in that process bringing a lot of time and effort and helping with that and she expressed some interest in learning a little bit more about other parts of the city so I was like here's my opportunity be careful what you asked for but thank you for joining us if you want to say a little bit about yourself or anything like that keep it quick Lauren Arway like you mentioned I'm originally from from Telehassee, moved here with my family, the Arweids, some of y'all might know them, my mother and all especially. anything like that? Keep it quick. Lauren Arwood, like you mentioned, I'm originally from Telehassy, I moved to you with my family, the Arwoods, some of y'all might know them, my mother and all, especially Michelle Arwood. My background is in hospitality and tourism. I, you know, made my way with that in the agency world for quite some time, and of course, tried to bring that expertise here to Thomas Fowland and we're very grateful to have the opportunity to set up here with you guys. So thank you. Thank you Miss Awe, for being here. Miss Brown? No, not really. Just thank you all for coming. Mr. Baker. Appreciate everybody coming out here. I enjoyed the workshop where we all got to spend a little time learning about the water treatment facility. So I appreciate all the members of the city who had a helping hand in that. I learned a few things there as always. So fun stuff. All right, thank you for all of the came out tonight. Thank you to the council members for all of us working together to do what we need to do.
