I'd like to call on Councillor Wilson to lead us in an invocation and then Councillor M Sutton to lead us in the pleasure of allegiance to the Auckland Police stand. Please join me in prayer. Father God, thank you for this day and for the blessings you've bestowed upon this community and this city. Well, thank you for bringing us together tonight to do the business of our city. And thank you for the privilege of public service and for those who give so much to the betterment of our community in our city. Forgive us for where we value. We ask this in Christ's name. Amen. Amen. I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands. One nation under the law in the dismal river one and the one and the one and the one and the one and the one and Uh. next on the agenda is our formal announcements recognition presentations and reports that may be discussed. There's not only agenda tonight, so we'll move on to city council comments inserting items of community interest that may or may not be discussed and I'll start with council and Bethel. No comments tonight. That's cool. I don't have anything to put out. No comments. Just one. Just want to, you know, shout out to the Sint Marya. Hopefully they can get all the wildfires under control. Get those extinguished quickly before it does too much for damage. Other than that, nothing. I actually have a couple of things tonight. You know, one, I'd like you, the public, and those of you out there to put their prayers out and thoughts to Jim Huddleton. He's a formal councilman here in the city of Portland that passed away on Monday or Saturday. I'm sorry. His family's moved up the curvil and I'm the services and things I'm sure will be up in that area but please keep them in your thoughts and your prayers as we move forward. This morning I had the privilege of attending the employee recognition breakfast. It's always a great event every year and seeing all the employees come in. Staff serving them and seeing the smiles and the hungry people in there is really great to see. So thank you staff and for what you all do and what you all put together. It's really a great event. I know the employees appreciate it. I appreciate it being there just watching. And the last thing I have is just a shout out to the school board, Councilman Wilson, myself and Mayor Scarot were able to attend the school board meeting or went to the school board meeting a week ago Monday. And the school board recognized us for city council of the year. So it was quite an event for us. And many thanks goes out to the school board for that recognition. And that's about all I have. Just a quick shout Harris for O she's up and also an advocate for us so that's the reason why she's not here tonight so move on to the city manager right? Mayor thank you just a few things and just to kind of talk a little bit more about the area of fires we've got we've got a lot going around the area right now. Sitten has lost a number of structures that fire is not under control. There are fires in Jim Wells County out in Cal Island and the Western and Corpus Christi area out in the island. These high winds and dry conditions are combined to really create a real dangerous condition. The National Weather Service has issued a shelter in place for people in San Francisco County because of the high levels of smoke that are in the air for people that are compromised, respiratory compromise, they need to be very careful. So hopefully we'll get those under control. Our fire department did respond to the sitting area, to assist, and I think that I'm not sure if they're still up there or not, but I know they've still got some real issues going on up there. I want to let you know that we are within about 500 meters of completing the meter change-on program, which is really good. We're really looking forward to getting that done and getting all the software in line and getting our customer portal up and working. Right now, the Tomacca Group, which is the subcontractors that are actually doing the meter replacements are out doing meter box replacements for the, there's about 500 meter boxes, and this is more of a more major change in just pulling the meter out and changing. They're installing new boxes, replacing old boxes, and they're doing that in clusters of streets. Right now, they're in the Chiltopin, Fulton, Granby, Markham, Poesta, Trinity area and then once they finish that, they'll take about a week. They'll move to another area and there's about five different areas of town that they're moving into. So our residents can expect to see a lot of employees from Tomaca. In the neighborhood, we're going to put up signs in the neighborhood. We're putting door hangers on to let people know. Obviously we want our citizens to know that these folks are out there working for us trying to get these measures done. But if they have any questions at all, please, if they're suspicious of any person who they all should have name tags on and be clearly identifiable. But if there's any question whatsoever, we encourage them to call the police department, call the public worst department if they have questions and we can, we'll take care of those. It's just about it. Thanks Mayor. Just a question for you. Any expected outages with the box change outs? I know some of them the way they're configured off the main truck line coming into them. Just curious. I think in general every time they change out of meter, you're looking at it probably anywhere from 10 minutes to 20 minutes where they have to pull the meter out and replace it. And during that time, yes, there's going to be some outage individually at home, but that's the purpose of going up and trying to contact the owners to make sure if they're there to give them notice that they're going to change the meter and the water can be off for a few minutes. If that's an inconvenient time, then they'll reschedule. They'll come back another time. Thank you, Mr. Wright. I see next item on the agenda is the public comments. Do I have any member of the audience wishing to make public comment? Any member of the audience wishing to make public comment? Mm-hmm. All right. Thank you, Miss Hall. Did we have any by mail or email? There were no comments received. All right. Thank you, Miss Hall. All right. Moving on. First item on the agenda is the minutes of previous minutes. Those minutes have been presented before you. Consider. The council will consider approval of the minutes of the February 18th, 2025 workshop and regular meeting. Any comments? I approve the minutes as. All right. I've got a motion by Councilman Wilson and a second by Councilman Sutton. Let's see. We move on to vote. We'll start with Councilman Sutton. Four. Four. Four. Four. Motion passes 5-0. the motion. Motion passes 5 0. I'm a little behind on my notes. Okay, the next item on the agenda is the cancellation of the May 3, 2025 general election City Council consider approving the certification of unopposed candidates and also a cancellation for the May 3rd 2025 general election. Miss Hall. Good evening. On February the 4th, the City Council adopted resolution 926, ordering the May 3rd 2025 general election to elect four council members to two year terms. All the filing dates have been met. Four candidates have filed for a place on the ballot and are unopposed. They are as follows. John F. Green, John G. Sutton Jr. Bill T. Wilson II and Martha Ruiz. Further election code in order to initiate the cancellation process, the City Council must first receive and accept the certification of unopposed candidates and issue an order of cancellation. The order of cancellation declares the election canceled and the unopposed candidates elected. Candidates cannot take their oath until the campus period has passed. The swearing in will take place on May 6th. And a copy of the order will be posted as required at the community center on election day. All right, thank you, Mrs. Hall. So what's the announcement pleasure? Motion that we accept the certification of unopposed candidates and adopt the order of cancellation, which declares the May 3rd, 2025 general election canceled, and the unopposed candidates elected. Second. Motion by Councilman Moore, and the second by Councilman Sutton. Moved to vote. Are any further comments? Should I ask that first, I guess? All right, we'll move on to vote councilman Bethel or four or four motion carries five zero all right next item on the agenda is the executive session city council will conduct an executive session according to the government code is authorized by the Texas government code sections 551.071 consultation with attorney 551.072 deliberation regarding real property 551.073 deliberation regarding prospective gifts 551.074 personnel matters 551.076 deliberation regarding security devices and 551.7, deliberation regarding economic development. I believe we are going to have an executive session tonight, but I do not believe that we'll have an action as a result of the executive session. That's correct, Mr. Wright? That's correct, sir. All right, then we'll call this meeting. We will come back and close the meeting. We will come come back online. So I want to call this leading over.
