It is August 26th. Welcome to the Lafayette Historic Preservation Commission meeting. It is 7 o'clock. We'll go ahead and get started. Has everyone had a chance to review the minutes from our July meeting? Okay. Do I need to restart? No. Okay. Can I get a motion to approve those minutes? Get a second. All second. Okay. All those in favor say aye. Aye. All those opposed. All right. On to new business. Did the public relations committee meet? No, we did not. Did the district committee meet? We did not. And the COA committee did meet. We have one item on here. This is for a storefront window and door at 2.09 North 5th Street. The petitioners are here now. If you would like to tell us about this exciting project Sure do you mind? No pressure So It's kind of the same as last time we were here. We're working on opening our arcade and bar at two and nine north to street We need to remove a window and replace it with an emergency exit It will match the existing door except it will have less metal so it will look more like a window. We are leaving the brick masonry underneath the side light so that that continues to match the rest of the building. And I forgot to scroll to show you all that. That was a say. I'm sure you all saw it, but so all right. There we go. So this is, well let me show you, I should have put this first. This is where the door was approved last month or two months ago I think, here. And it's actually going to go here, okay? Because it has to be as far away from the other exit as possible or something like that. And this is the contractors rendering of one of them. We added the little brick at the bottom because that's what they're going to keep based on feedback from Dan Kaiser, who is not going to be here tonight obviously. That's where the entrance will be. They have the screens up there, that's called showing. There's the door. Yeah, like why are they so scared? It'll look similar to that door, except that it won't have hardware. And were you able to get it a little bit narrower around you? Yeah, and so the metal will be a little thinner than the width is shown here, again, based on feedback from Dan because he wanted, he preferred that this look more like a window than a door and so they were able to do that. So that's kind of what it will look like when it's done. Okay. And our committee did recommend approval. Anything from the commission? I'm going to stay in since I'm the listing agent. approval anything from the commission? I'm going to stay in since I'm the listing agent. Oh, oh, good idea. Good idea. In anything else? All right. Hearing none, can I hear a motion for approval? I'll motion. I get a second. Second. All those in favor say aye. Aye. All those opposed. All right. Have your COA. Thank you. You can stay for the rest of it, but it's not as interesting. Yeah, I was going to say there is nothing else. Yeah, the 30 seconds. The next 30 seconds. I'll try to do it at least on the agenda. Some sub-properations. Okay. Anything from staff? Just quickly. the annual conference, I can't remember the name of it even, I'm so bad. I didn't bring anything with me. The preserving historic places conference, that's it. That they provide for us every year for Historic Preservation Commission. Is there anyone interested in Historic Preservation? Is going to be in little town on the Ohio River Madison? Madison, thank you. See, teamwork. This is good. It's like charades. Perforated. That's what we're doing so much faith in the system right now. It's in October of course, stupidly. I don't have the dates again for you but I will let you know if anyone's interested in attending let me know honestly we've already missed the deadline for the scholarship for the so if anyone wants to go, we might have to pay. But more important than the conference itself is the one day camp, which is a counseling for historic preservation commissioners that gives you all the background on the laws, the support, historic preservation commissions in the state of Indiana. It's very informative and very helpful. If anyone would like to go to that, it'll, you'd have to travel down to Madison for it, which is quite a long trip, but it's worthwhile. It I think goes from like eight in the morning until four in the afternoon. It's only like 25 bucks if anybody wants to go. It's a beautiful town. And Madison is a beautiful town. If anyone is really really interested in attending the conference let me know and I'll see if I can still potentially get somebody in. Unfortunately since I missed last month and I wasn't aware that I was going to miss it until the last minute. I was going to share all this then and I forgot. And I forgot to share it with the folks who were here so I didn't get to tell you in advance. We're just going to be as going to be at that. They've restored that old mill. Oh, is that, I hope, tell them that. It might be. I don't recall the exact, and they typically have it in multiple locations, you know, in a town like that where they may not have facilities for everything all in one spot. So if anyone is interested please let me know ASAP because I'm already late or passed the deadline officially for so let us know by by by October very busy. Yeah okay yeah I will send an email tomorrow. Comiles will you remind me to do that. Okay, that's all I have. Thank you. Any comments from the public? When do the steps open up? Anybody in the other? Public statement. All right. All right. All right. Can we get a motion to adjourn? So moved. Can we get a second? I'll second. All those in favor say aye. Aye. Aye. So moved. We get a second all those in favor say aye. We are a pepper. Any thank you? It's words are hard
