Good evening and welcome to the Wednesday, April 2nd, 2025 meeting of Municipal Arts Commission. I am Jane Walles this evening with me. We have Michael Moreiro, Eric Woodland, Alejandro Hernandez, Fred Spinoffs, and with the City Building Department, Joe Guillamo, and Department of Development, Kevin Emenis. Thank you, Jim. And we have no adjourned cases for this evening, so we'll start with new cases. The first case on the agenda is a case 082025, application by Ashley Andrews to install two wall signs at 1461 Weaver Street. So the application has pulled off and you can just navigate the photos and you can talk about what you're proposing to put this application. Just a brief introduction. The board is receiving. My name is Ashley Andrews. I am representing Verizon. They are requesting two signs where one is allowed. This box is existing. And then they want to add the one on the side just for better visibility They're both the same size. Yes. Which is what is the size of the litter? High of the B is 10 and a half. Oh, okay. They're here simply because two signs. And the various requested us just to add a two sign. Because there's another facade, but it's still one street frontage. So they're trying to get the attention by having like two signs on the floor. Can we go back to the building in this one or the side one? What is the side of the building face? Was it face residential? There, there's a gas station. A gas station. Okay. I mean, still face it. We were straight to the corner and we're going to do that job. So is there like corner or is it go like this like? Where Verizon and Center continues to the left? It's one building. It's one building. There's one building and it kind of goes around the corner and it's still the same facade and the same facade continues. Yep. Okay. Yeah. I think the karate place was the last one here for that child. Yeah. In check. Okay. Any other comments? Just to clarify, in your application, there are two sizes, 10 and a half inch and 12 inch letters Yeah, are you proposing? Both to be 10 and a half. Yeah, okay just a little more I'm okay. I'm okay with this Okay, do we have motion to approve? Okay, all in favor. Okay, motion passes. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Good night. Good night. The second application on the agenda 0992025, application by Ray Russo to install one for Satsang at 2A Palem Road. Good evening. Good evening. So we are proposing to install the main sign for Kenis on the water, which was previously patties. It's really pretty much in the same location that the patty sign was prior that was taken down. It's a little bit more to the right actually than the old patty side was. We brought it out because that turn there is kind of very hard. So we tried to bring it a little closer out towards the corner by a few inches as opposed to the Patsy's one to get a little better visibility coming around that turn. The sign is a complete custom push-through. So it's not a acrylic face like a standard light box. It's all welded, aluminum, routed out like a puzzle. This is how it's done. This is clear. The letters on there are white. So basically we route the acrylic and we route the aluminum face out. It starts as a mill finish aluminum. All that copy is routed out. The line is routed out. And the metal is then welded to the return. Paint it the dark navy blue. All the acrylic is routed out as you see there with the small hip. You push it through from the inside, push out so it so it gives you that edge and facelift. So none of the navy blue lights up. The little white copy lights up on the top, the little white copy on the bottom, on the water lights up, the inline which is this acrylic in white with a translucent metallic gold that goes on the face and it so lights that little line up in gold. The Kenny's lights up in white. The background also is going to cast a slight halo glow on the back of blue on the wall so you can actually obtain a little bit of a blue color at night as well. Everything else is pretty much what you see. So is it good to sit where those two umbrellas are? Yeah, yeah, exactly. That's the corner right there. Where you see in that photograph, that's exactly what we moved. We moved those umbrellas that are there. Just that they were just moving stuff around because of the construction going on. And they stuck that there. But that's exactly the location right there. Why don't they, it's still far in. I'm sorry. Why wouldn't they want to do a larger sign? Why wouldn't they? It's hard to see it on the turn. turn so it's a quick turn. Sign is 4 feet high. I'll go bigger. I'm sure they wouldn't mind going bigger. I'll go bigger. That's played it on the safe side. It seems they definitely do. The white horror is on to all. That's just the side. That's the side. Yeah, that's the side. Right now it's like you're putting it in no way. It's like an almond color right now, yellowish almond color. It's depending that all the sightings getting changed. Peter White. It's like an almond color right now, yellowish almond color, depending on the old deciding is getting changed paint of white. And is that Kenny's, with the sighting as a proportion, is it to scale with the building? Yeah. Okay. Yeah, that's actually to scale with the sighting. We had to put the white slats in there to turn it white, otherwise it would look yellow. It's currently like a yellow cream color. And you see the Patsy sign was there too, right there? The Patsy sign was same location. About six inches. You could see it behind the umbrella. Six inches, yeah. Was still there. Yeah.. Well, it was two patchy signs. It was a horizontal sign and there was also a push through it. I made the patchy sign. Okay. So the patchy sign I made was exactly the same type of construction, just green and white. What about the size thing size? No, the Patsy's, the Patsy's size was actually, I knew we were gonna have to, 38 inches high by 54 wide. It was two inches wider, but it was, 18 inch shorter? No, it was 10 inches in height shorter, and that was the problem, nobody could see it. Right, it was, you know, not that nobody could see it, but it's such a hard turn. You'd have to get in there to notice it, they said. So we went, you know, four feet on the height with this. We went 10 inches larger on the height. Patsy's was more horizontal. It was more like an oval. So it was a 50. I vaguely remember you used to do a little one. Yeah, it was 54 inches in width and this time is Not a perfect circle because of the bump outs on the K and the S so it's I'm sorry, all the night in No, I'm with yeah because yeah Just let us off so it's 52 inches wise I need to go down to slow down. Sorry. I need to mention something. Sorry, yeah. Oh, okay. I got the tires controlled on that. So yeah, so the circle is 48 inches, circle. But then you have those two bump outs for the K and the S that give you that extra, you know, six inches, a inches, sorry. Any further questions? And what's the height of the sign from the ground, from the ground, a feet? No, 36 inches. Okay, so that from the, okay, so the bottom of the, uh, the sign that you're that's 36 inches. Yeah, it's about 36.4 inches off the ground to the bottom of the sight. Yeah. That's three feet that area right there. Because the green drops, it's a walkway. And it only stands off six inches in total because it's a five inch deep cabinet and a one-inch spacer standing off the wall. We're going to see this section. Yeah, on this section detail you'll see that. So you have the spacer and that halo, you know, that creates a halo. We put a backer plate on the wall. We put a white trace out plate on the wall first because you have that slatted So we create a flat plumb surface, shaped exactly like the sign, that goes on the wall first because you have that slatted siding. So we create a flat plumb surface shaped exactly like the sign that goes on the siding first then the sign goes on that on top of that so it sits plumb. Okay. Any further questions? Motion to approve. Motion to approve. Okay. Thank you. I'm gonna take it all. Okay. I'm gonna speak up to him. for I'm going to do it again. I'm going to do it again. I'm going to do it again. I'm going to do it again. I'm going to do it again. I'm going to do it again. I'm going to do it again. I'm going to do it again. I'm going to do it again. I'm going to do it again. I'm going to do it again. I'm going to do it again. I'm sorry, I searched You know what I mean? Okay. That's a mixed sense. I never paid such a thing. I wonder if her name is actually Cadillac. So that's why the truth is that's... That's an application by... Application 10, that's why the port is a huge, that's why the port is a huge, that's why the port is a huge, that's why the port is a huge, that's why the port is a huge, that's why the port is a huge, that's why the port is a huge, that's why the port is a huge, that's why the port is a huge, that's why the port is a huge, that's why the port is a huge, that's why the port is a huge, So it's not these two. Bring the extra copies. I brought one. We can share. Because you said maybe you know today. You might have probably been suddenly there. You guys. That's mine. Yeah. Got one more. So send that to that side of the board. Sure. I know enough of it. Some of this has my notes on it. You have one there. Here's this one here. But we're all going to have to share this one. Which is the sign rendered on the building with the other two, which you requested the last time we were in front of you so we can see them all in light. As you know, well first off, Michael Santeliquita with Sand Science, representing touch these along another tenant in this building. Obviously we're following suit with the white channel letters. Within the sign band, same projection, black end, white faces. The D does have gold in it, which matches the gold in Toast D as well. So we did tie that in. She had a different gold, it was so close. We just made this suggestion and it would play off well. The difference is here, 45 inches in height. But that little topper of the D is four inches. When I look at it as at a smaller size, it tends to get lost next to Toast D, Kentucky and Taco Project due to the stroke of the font. Once you decrease the D or the T, then medical spot becomes so small. the channel letters all remote power supplies behind the wall exactly like you see left and right no arm sign here either Possibly in the future we already have a rendering for Tuco project and there is a rendering for this location as well budgetary constraints So we'll maybe come back to you next time. Any questions? It just seems a little lower than the other signs, not the the you see it's like yeah it is. It's like it's like the touch maybe wants to be more centered between the two lines but then it might conflict with the medical spa. I don't think that was done intentionally. I saw that as well and if you look to a sneak is is kept higher and whereas taco project because of the two lines of copy we split it on that line for legibility and splitting that line with copy. So those kind of both of those were taken into effect here although I do agree with you I think the sign could move up a touch. You know at least as we're looking at the rendering you have a larger blowup of it on the filter. This is a spike, right? This is not real. Oh yeah, it's already up on the wall. Oh, it's already up in here. Oh, okay. No, I'm not. Okay. Yeah, you see here, it shows a little differently. Yeah, you look at it at both of them, but that could be adjusted in one way, shape, or form. But if you look at it on the blow-up as opposed to here, you'll see it in two different fashions. Right. Right. Well, I think that's proper. Where a remedical spa book, where that line kind of breaks the two lines of copy. And not thinking of these, forget about these are not the same businesses. I mean, they're kind of in the same plane. They're kind of they're in the same sign band. Perseid. But from a function point of view, I just think where it's currently located is proper. This is the one in time. Correct. Correct. Correct. And that was just on for legibility purposes. Keep it within that band. But if you adjusted, if I pulled to a steep down, we would all have an issue with that. Because now you'd have that descender into that dark spot. You'd have part of the logo into the dark spot and it wouldn't read well. So we'd be talking about a different problem right now So I think keeping them all in the same plane Is it mistake And if we look at them individually, I think this works well We put a lot of thought into the entire building hence why the landlord is constantly having us come back We'll be back for the fourth location as well, I'm sure. I think Taco Project looks amazing at night and Toastique is just beautiful. But you Taco Project is the front back, little letters are just phenomenal. I understand what you're saying you can't leave medical spa by itself by raising touched touch up a little bit more to meet the toastyk Yeah, because the line the dark line would be going right through medical spa Or just leaving medical spa. Let's like and then you have his gap now you have another gap between it and what you're what you're What you just described? We looked at yeah, we changed her logo to a certain extent by keeping it so we could make fabricate the sign. The medical spa letters were too thin, too small, where we had to increase them. And it was arduous to actually get to where we are and then satisfy the landlord as well. And once again, we're here to go ahead and appease the board as usual. But like I said, taking into account all three signs and then a fourth sign and the line, I mean, I actually said I think someone who ever designed the building didn't think of signage with that line being there. It was a mistake. Because I'm playing around with it for the third time. And if that was the case, if that line wasn't there, this would be moved. Because every sign would be centered within that band. So he has to sign band the entire, I don't know, for 52 inches, or is it the top section? Yeah. It's good to know the landlord's concerned about the setting as well. Yeah, driven by me and my concern for it from the onset. And I think that's why we kept going with the plan. once the, once, Sockle Project was in there, and then we sized the letters to fit that, because they were the first ones, and they were saying, OK, we've got to work around this consistently. We brought it up to the landlord, because when a tenant wants to come in and do extra work, we're saying you can't, but who to be the one you're actually trying to be the voice of a lamb, but I also want to make this set. That's actually the idea to shift that up. To shift that up, and then shift that up all the way. Well, that's what they did here. Yeah. Yeah. It's like that means we shifted up just a little more because of that. but then if you do that then it conflicts with the right that it conflicts with the line because then that will But then if you do that, then it conflicts with the right that it conflicts with the line. Because then that will follow the on it. Not perfectly. But given all these circumstances? Yeah, it's reasonable. Yeah, it's done. It's done. It's done. Yeah. You're limited. You know, the parameters. Before we come and waste for time, And we try to think it through in every scenario possible and come up with the most logical functional way that's as close to code as we possibly can. Not in the font of all, very different also. So it's not like it's, if it were like the same font, you know, that it would make sense, but it's very unique. It each is very unique. So And there's gonna be a fourth one here coming up over here This store front here right there Any further questions do we have a motion to approve? Oh Yep, so I've motion motion. There's second all in favor Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Sorry about that. No, thank you. Do I have motion work? Do I have a second? All in favor? Aye. Motion passes. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Sorry about that. No. Do you need these? I don't. You don't know. I'll take them though. This one was the final move. Yeah, absolutely. This one was mine. OK. Yeah. I'll just take the extra patient. you getting from dollaroo so on a regular basis? Um, yeah probably every other day I told you, you mean the top-all dot, okay? They're getting closer. I can't imagine that that's taking that bet and it's all on them, right? That's what I said. So our final that concludes the cake, the new cases on the agenda. We're moving on to administrative items. We have one application. It's an artist ratification by Mark Royal. Hi everybody. Hello. I want to put a sign of my cell phone the highway. Get through that. No. So you can just, you know, take these next two minutes or so, I'm just giving us a brief overview about who you are, why you've applied for the art certification. And then also there's the files here that you've been shown to the board. And yeah. Well, hi. My name is Marko Veracansi, I go by Mark Fala-Wayow. I'm a freshman dancer for the last 33 now. first job job was on the 16th. So it's 20-30 years now. I've been a very different kind of dancer, plus as men. It's coming now, wonderful or fine, but I'm no longer so long to inspire people, it's quite different generations to this sort. I work with Ms. Jay. I'm a new beginning dance studio, I'm here in the workshop. I'm known her for a few years and she told me about the artist's grades here. And I love increasing her right now and I drive to the Bronx every day but an hour and 45 minutes to go and teach in high school and then teach in mid-town as well to drive back home and night, another hour and some change. You get out to Queens, so I was just like, there's a great opportunity to the Multinorill Show, be in different environment, work with her more closely, because I work with her wherever we can as well. And come on, that's a great opportunity to Multinatal Shell be in different environment work with her more closely because I work wherever we can as well um and And there's a problem as well. So just talking about this. I didn't know about this part of it. It's kind of cool to present myself um, I can show you guys my I have reference letters here. Um, so you just don't work No problem. So um, so I have I have a dance resume. I think it's more better for you guys to see actual visual representation of what I do versus your singing on paper. But as you can see I've done music videos, TV performances, world tours, work with Samsung, hip hop awards on Navy, on BitBoy Australia, but around the world, I work with some celebrities like Tate's Burgers, Nallie LaRose, but a few different things to do on paper. If I could just pull up my dance reel, which I don't know where that would be. I'm sure I can do opening the other five. Or would it be like to this? I think it's an e-map, but like... Which I don't know where that would be Um, is there way you can access it on the internet? Yes, absolutely. We'll just give one minute just so that we can see the... Yeah, no problem. No problem. I'm just gonna put up my dance rope so you guys can see that real quick. You're gonna try to see me in action and see what I do. And hopefully you like it. So you're allowed in this or? It's good. I don't feel like you know you don't feel like you know you don't feel like you know you don't feel like you know you don't feel like you know you don't feel like you know you don't feel like you know you don't feel like you know you don't feel like you know you don't feel like you know you don't feel like you know you don't feel like you know you don't feel like you know you don't feel like you know you don't feel like you know you don't feel like you know you don't feel like you know you don't feel like you I'm gonna play a little bit of the live. I work on the cruise ships during the summer, sometimes. Depending on honestly if I want to go or not, because that's a lot of different things. And I'm still working dancers on book-alternated jobs even to this day as well. I did it via VMAs, I just bet I was with Eminem. Yeah. Okay. Okay. So, I just passed with them. So I'll send you all the links because I know there was some other things that you sent as well. You can just consider classes and projects and more insights of who he is and then we'll follow up with you within the week. Okay, no problem. All right, so thank you. All right, appreciate it.
