I'm sorry, green. Otherwise people on the phone and watching this live may not be able to hear us. Thank you. Before we go to public comments, is it okay if you could have our new member introduce himself? So we are blessed to have a new member, Ellen, Varghis, Ellen. Thank you and for joining the RPAG committee. We welcome you and if you could just take a few minutes, tell us about yourself. More importantly, tell us why RPAG, you know. And if you good, yes. It's tough to you to say that. Yeah, hi everyone, so I'm Alan Verghese. I've lived in John's Creek 26 years now, so moved here in 1998. She's a neighborhood called Shakerag. And it is like pastures in farmland and cows and horses and all things you don't see anymore around here. So I'm an electrical engineer by background. Panasonic used to have a wireless design center in Suwan, an electrical engineer by background and so moved down from North Carolina to join the design division. That's become a serially bakery now if you go upon 85 North, other companies have kind of taken over that business. But anyway, electrical engineering by background, I've got four kids, two, kind of like out of the house, two still in the neighborhood. But yeah, I've been on the board of Shakerag for seven years now. And so kind of very involved and interested in the neighborhood and community. I'm sort of passing that pattern on to other folks just so that, you know, other folks can bring a new perspective. So I thought it's a good time to kind of step into something new as I'm stepping out or something that I already was involved in. But I really love this. You know, when I moved here in John's Creek, I think the realtor kind of just showed me different places. I never knew this would turn out to be like, you know, number one suburb in the US, number one most affluent. I mean, really so much has happened. It's like my goodness, you know, looking back, what a good decision. They loved the city. I think I told a couple of you, so my two older sons are in cyber security, so I learn a lot about cyber security. So about a month back, I got a call saying, hey, Alan, this is Mayor John Bradbury of John's Creek, and I'm thinking, okay, you have to do a whole lot better than that to catch me off guard. So I ignored that. Two days again, this is John Bradbury Allen. Do give me a call back and I said, yeah, you know, how's it going in Nigeria or North Korea, where are we calling from? And then another week later, Pam Sutton of City Council called me and said, hey, Alan, John is really trying to reach you. He wants to ask you to join this council and I was like oh my goodness and so anyway that's where cyber security goes in the wrong direction but I guess I was too but anyway thank you and it's good to be here. Great thanks Alan and we are certainly looking forward to having you contribute towards our efforts. Maybe you had the magic ball to think about John's Creek when you moved here but with all the things that are coming up especially with the park activities We are just touring outside with all the work that's going on for Creek side park I believe all was think that the best days for John's Creek are yet to come so Happy to have you on board excited to have you share your thoughts and your passions to this particular committee Public comment shall I close that door? Okay. Do we have any public comment? All right. It looks like the topic may not be controversial tonight. So we have reports and presentations. So Eric, if you could please lead us in that. Really? Good evening, everyone. I'll walk you through our update from August. The year is just flying by. As always, Park Place is humming. Lots of great things going on there. One of the highlights was our cooking with chef Lynn all about seafood. If you haven't ever been over there, you should put your head in. They have a lot of great programs. The whole calendar of programming for the month is posted online. So if you know anybody that might be interested, check it out. We had one of our more heavily attending concerts, landslide, or tribute to Fleetwood Mac, about 3,000 people attended that. We also had the free art group fitness continues at Colley Creek Park and Newtown Park. Also we have seven teams playing adult softball, so that's a lot of fun. And we have our balanced bike program which continues. We've had that about monthly over at Colley Creek Park. So again, that's where little kids learn to ride bikes, so it's a wonderful little program. The fall is jam-packed with events. So if you see park staff say thanks for all the work you're doing because they're working really, really hard this fall. I want to point out a few items and then someone asked me to go into detail in one of them. Of course, this was prepared before a couple of things happened. We had our lovely Patriots Day ceremony at Newtown Amphitheater on September 11th. Papa Paloza was last weekend and the literary fair is upcoming on the 29th. We also have so later in October, looking ahead, we have the John's Kick Arts Festival on the 19th and 20th. We have trunker treat here at City Hall and then we have our dualli market on October 26 and 27th. So as you may recall, we've had two blow-out dualli celebrations in the city, one in 2022, one in 2023. They overwhelmed the places we had to host them. And so this year with this committee in ACE, we're really reformatting this idea of celebrating dualli for our community. So this is not a blowout party. This is a dualli market. So we have a great community that's come together to put together. It'll be here at City Hall. It's a two day market, noon to five, Saturday and Sunday. So we hope that that allows plenty of people to cycle it out, enjoy some food, enjoy the vendors that are here. So again, some market will have a lot of vendors selling all sorts of wonderful things for duoli. So people can gather all the things they want to decorate their homes and themselves for the celebration. And then there will be some entertainment and dancing going on as well up here. So I'm happy to answer any questions on that because this is a reformatting of the event, but that's the plan so far. I've got a quick question. Yes sir. Sorry. Thank you. The former change was done because of the war-warming nature that we faced last time, last two times. I know I was there. Correct. So, I mean, it was, it's broken down to two days now instead of one event. Yes. And, you know, what, whereas the previous event had big shows at the end. Yeah, so this is not intended to be that thing. This is a different format entirely. So I mean, that posted a reason then. Yes, unfortunately it was just too, too great, too awesome for all the places. Oh, exactly close to mess. It was definitely just that set up for things of that size. Yes, exactly. But this should be lovely. Hope you all can join us. So, Erica, I do have a couple of questions. More of logistic questions. Sure. Knowing the history of what has happened. The word is going to get out that there's the wealthy market in John's creed. Last time, I think we had close to what, 20,000 people? I was the estimate. Right. Even if we end up getting one fourth of that, what's our plan for parking arrangement and transporting people? Absolutely. Because if you're going to use this whole area of majority of this parking lot for the market, we do have adjacent parking and all that, but even accommodating 5,000 people or 4,000 people or two-day period of time can become a challenging process. Sure, yeah. So, fortunately, we actually had a parking study for this town center area. So we actually know that we, as a whole, have a fair amount of parking in and around. It's not, you know, it's not owned by us, but most of these businesses are offices. So what we're working is working on is having three primary lots that are actually managed parking. When I say manage, there's going to be folks. And we're going to have some communication that's going to be like a green lot, a blue lot, and an orange lot, right? And so that way we can have folks, you know, come and go. There's going to be people stacking them in, you know, and making sure we park efficiently when the law is closed. They'll close it down. We'll push that out. You know, the blue lot is closed. Go park in the orange lot or the green lot. So we're going to do our best we can. And again, this is intended to be a market. So as you can see, we have a lot of space here. It's not an obscene amount of space. So you can probably see all the things within 60 to 90 minutes. Enjoy some performances, stick around for a little while, and then you've kind of seen what there is to see. So we hope that people will cycle through. We're going to do the best we can with the resources we have. Okay. Another question as far as parking attendees are concerned. Historically, whenever we do event across from the athletic club, we have the Boy Scouts at Mald. Right? They use it as an opportunity to serve the community, but also do some fun reason. What is the plan for this kind of parking arrangement? Are we going to get them engaged or is it going to be city staff or how are we doing it? That's a very good question. With all due respect to the Boy Scouts, we are going to have professionals, like literally a professional parking company come in here with their staff that are trained to be around vehicles because we just want to make sure our business safe. They're gonna all walk you talking up, so we're literally hiring a parking company to help us manage this parking situation. So that is part of the budget and all that? This part of the cost of the event. Yes. All right. Any other questions regarding this event? Yeah. I'm going to roll back to the softball. Is that seven teams? Is that all John's Creek teams? And the adult softball? All John's Creek residents? Yeah. Oh, it's just like is it all seven John's Creek teams? Or are you guys playing like other cities? I believe that's seven John's Creek teams. And they play the OC? and they played OC. Is there any plans? We don't have a youth softball team for the- We do not. We have had some back a year or two ago, we had some clinics to try to do up and the program kind of died off. We had some clinics to try to raise interest and they peed it out. So we do not currently have a softball program. And Adam, based on my personal experience, I know leadership, John Screek, at one time you said, was softball team in that league. It's not always that everyone is John Screek, but you paid non-John Screek residents fee to be part of the team that you're playing. I just want to help. Yeah, if it was all just how much interest there was on that. So it was fun. Thanks. So, there's a lot of things. Yeah, I don't have the particular detail, but, so we can get it. I have one question. Are we, I know at one point we had talked about charging to get into Dwalli, but now that it's a market, there is no cost to get in. It's correct. Three admission. Correct, yes. I guess charging admission opens a lot of complications, and so it was determined that, especially with the event like this, being a market. Right, I think the only reason we were trying to charge was because maybe we could have given, if it had stayed at the old location, John's Creek residents, one rate, and then tried to manage it a little bit better than just everybody coming from all over. Unfortunately, the first location was not open to us anymore. I got the question back to Diwali. I mean, I do like the way you guys are thinking of two days, which is it'll drag the crowds out, which is good. And the location, because those were right on the main artery and that just blocked 14 41 completely the last one. Would we have still have like a prime time events? The drone show was big hit last time. No, no, no, there are no prime time events. Because we cannot hold, we cannot have that many people here at that time. At the same time. So sweet, this is not going to be the Super Bowl at the moment. And yeah, that's what I was thinking. It's not a fortillity. Last time it was a Super Bowl, unfortunately we may have a WNBA championship here for now. We are hoping to create an event that we can keep going with. Of course. So, trying out this new format. Before we move on, can you just briefly talk about the trunk code treat because I know it's one of our biggest events, especially for the youth, because I know the Johns Creek Public Safety Foundation spends thousands of dollars for candy and all that, and why it has become such a big event for our youth and all that. If you could just spend a few minutes because I think some of us may not have attended that event in the past. And if you have not, we would highly, highly encourage you. You will see more kids below the age of 10. And this is a competition between the various so-called sections or groups within the police department to see who puts up the best showcase out there. So, if you could spend a couple of minutes on that. Yes, so I will say we put it on our parks list. Trunkertree is actually a police event that we support. It is what they do is on behalf of the Public Safety Foundation, the police department and other departments as well, set up in the parking lot here and there's any number of booths that children can come. Usually there's some fun thing, they get candy. If you're thinking this is going to be all the cars lined up with their trunks open, that's not what this is. It is much more exciting than that. The police they do, they go all out to create fun experiences. So I think we have, I mean, speaking of thousands of people, like easily 3,500 people in this parking lot, kids in costume, and it's just, it's a big deal right here on that night. So I believe it starts at, I feel like it starts at 6, but I may be mistating, but people start coming. Five people. Yeah, they're ready to come, ready to join us. But so yes. I had a question about Diwali too. So I do the social events, you know, I said my bold specific responsibility in many of what is social events. So I remember last year people said do not coordinate, do not do anything during that the valley festival because everyone was talking about that. I think the blowout last year was because no other neighboring towns, the Alfredas, Roswells, none of them were doing at the valley. Do we have any sense of any of them planning the value of John's Creek still? I know people came all the way from Sandy's Prinks in order to the valley festival because there was nothing else. So since they are a new event for this area, I will even also sort of draw a parallel to even Juneteenth. There used to be only maybe one or two Juneteenths and now more communities are having Juneteenth celebrations. The scale of ours I will say I've heard that it actually is a little bit hard for other neighboring communities to be like, oh, we want to do that because it was so big and it was prohibitive in that format. That's why we really are trying this different format. And hopefully if we find one that a format that works here, hopefully other communities will also do something similar. So this is all about sales vendors coming in selling stuff? Yes. We don't want it to be the other extreme of not successful at all either, right? We want a middle ground. Absolutely. We want a middle ground. Yes. Any other questions about events? Any other questions? Jillian, thank you for joining us, I know. We were just talking about the calendar of events. Let's move on. Yeah, a couple more touch points here. So we're still rocking a roll on projects as well. The Colle Creek Maker space is out to bid and the Colleague Creek overflow parking, which was funded in the fiscal 25 budget, is in construction documents. So we really hope to get that under construction as soon as we can because we know we need more parking over a Colleague Creek Park. A couple things. Please keep an eye on your email because we have some good things upcoming for like ribbon cuttings. Audrey Mell, Nature Preserve Ampitheater, is like this close to being finished. So we're hoping to have a ribbon cutting round the end of the first week in October. We don't have that pinned down quite yet, but that'll come quickly. And soon after will be the playful passages over at Morton Road Park. So we've got the footers poured, the artist has to come install the actual sculpture, but we'll ribbon cut that one soon thereafter. And then the tennis courts at Newtown will be taken out of service for renovations starting in October, going through December. So that'll be a nice upgrade for those courts. Also, since we discussed it in here, the naming for the park back here, Council heard y'all suggestion tweaked it slightly, so we're going to be opening up a survey soon for the community to give us proposed names for the new park outback. What Council, what you all said was like then staff would bring you all a short list and you would recommend one to council. Well, instead, we're going to bring you all of them. And together with staff, we as a group are going to select five to ten names to give to council for final decision. So that, we'll push that survey out to you guys as soon as it's open so that you can keep push it out and Then we will gather probably in the November meeting to I think we're really open for about a month and then we'll together go through all the names and pick five to ten for Councils Yeah, so that's that okay. That's all I got Thank you, Erica Any other questions regarding the things are coming over? All right, so that's you have a question, a quick question. I know the budget was passed. Was there anything in there that you all got that you wanted? The parking at Colleague Park. Yeah, just in general. That is the thing I want. I think you want it, okay? But just in general, was rather than, that is the thing I want. I'm sorry, I should have also said the quad lights at OC Park. Yes, across from there. So I've got one question before we move on to the next. The quality creek maker space out of the bit. I know last time we had some challenges. How is it looking this time? We are getting a lot of interest, a lot of questions, which is what you want to see. Because that means people are diving into the documents and asking questions so they can put together. We have confidence, we're going to get some. Okay, fantastic, awesome. All right. Park Association reports. Do we have any park association reports? No. Chair update, first and foremost, again, Alan, welcome to our, looking forward to you having you on an ongoing basis. One thing we discussed last time was how can we go out and visit our parks, right? And not use it as a substitute for our meeting, but make some extra time. So Ed was kind enough to speak to a significant other who or sees Audrey Mill. There's a lot of good stuff going on, as I already mentioned. There's a ribbon cutting coming up for the amphitheater there. So there are a couple of dates that have been proposed. One is because our original meeting was scheduled for October 23. We moved it to October 9th because of the Trunkotreat event. October 30th, 23rd is one of the options that has been proposed. Because we want to make it convenient for the team over there to host us. Because the idea would be we go, you know, have a tour, learn more about the facility, check it out, but then also spend some time, you know, socializing, if possible, right? So October 23rd, I'm sorry, October 23rd is that option. Now, my recommendation would be that if we pick that date, then we do it in a manner where it can also give us the opportunity to come here because I think it'll be a very nice Gathering for trunk of tree so we can combine a couple of things together if we decide to use that date The other date that is proposed is October 17th, right? I believe both of these dates are Thursday and Wednesday, right? So please share your thoughts, which date do we want to go? Personally, I know I have a conflict with the 23rd because I'll be doing some work in Jamaica with my cricket team, so that is going to be a conflict. But, yeah. But again, let's nail this down if we can. Is it okay, Madame Secretary, if we can just get some sort of consensus, what would work or should we do that? Yeah, that would be good because I will have to notice this because you'll have a quorum. So I just need to know for sure when you're going. Okay. Quick question, Schuffick. Why is the Wednesday, the 16th, I miss that. Why is that date not good? No, no. So we have Thursday the 17th as one option. Right. But why are we moving it from the 16th? Because we're in the 16th. We are not. We are not. We are not made to the 23rd. So maybe we take a show of hands as a means of trying to figure out what would work best. So those who are in favor of the 17th, raise your hand please. Yes, the goal would be that we make it convenient for people so that they can join. And again, I know it may not be 100% participation, but we'll try our best. So 17th, show of hand. Yeah, one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight. So I guess 17th is it. All right. Or. I'm sorry, you said it was at 630. The same time as your normal meeting. I mean, six mean 6, okay. All because of that they start to get dark. And I want you to have a little subject to that. Okay, no problem. I will notice it for the 19th or 17th at 6,000. Thank you. Fantastic again. Thank you very much and will inform those who are not here tonight to be. 17, that is correct, 6 p.m. Right? Thank you, Ed, for coordinating that. Any old business that we have? No old business, let's move on to the new business. First is the consideration of the minutes from the August 28 meeting. Can we have a motion to accept the minute as presented? I'm mentioned to. All right, Sandra, I'm motioning to accept them. Christi, second, all those in favor, please raise your hand. All right, so the minutes are approved. August 28th, let's move on. Last few weeks we've been talking about master plans for the various parks. This week our park is OC Park. I think Jillian you are close to OC, am I correct? A little bit. A little bit, all right. Okay, fantastic. So nothing different than what we have done last couple of weeks. So Eric, if you could please take us through the process. And then more importantly, one of the things that I think was asked, in terms of what has been approved and what has not been approved, I think Sandra, you had asked that question. The way Eric presented the so-called spreadsheet last time around, there are no so-called new projects that were really approved in 2024. Correct me if I'm wrong, Ericka. The parking lot was the main one for Colleague Creek. So pretty much all the projects that you see for the parks are going to be 2025 and beyond. Some of them are going to be in the refresh category. Some of them are going to be in the so-called project category. Right? So the only thing that has been so-called approved for 20 for this coming cycle is the Collie Creek extension of the parking lot nearby the entrance. Right? So, Erica, please take us through. Yeah, and you all have had some really good just to tack on to that. Some good questions about the funding and when things are going to be funded. I do want to just say that our discussion tonight is ultimately about the master plan for it. So while the wind and the is important, I mean, ultimately the master plan sets the path. So and the wins follow that. So just to put that in perspective. Okay. So OC Park is our primarily our baseball park. And I do want to spend some time with you all on this one because I've found even when I was putting the memo together that the master plan and the items listed and what has been done over the past few years, they don't jive quite as well as some of our previous conversations, so I want to walk through them in a fair amount of detail. Projects that were funded by the park bond specifically include a construction of soft surface trails around the back of the park, which you can actually see on the master plan in letter Bc around in the wooded area. And a new picnic pavilion near the tennis courts. There were a lot of other projects done at OC in the last, you know, nine years that were part of the general fund. So I think what I'll do, what I'd like to do is I'd like to, if you can bring this master plan in front of you. I'm going to walk down the list of projects because what was completed, this was a guideline, but they weren't exactly what's shown here. So let me just walk down there. So item A, restroom for the lower fields, that was constructed. That's item A, if you can see there, sort of in the page south of your page. The master plan talked about converting basketball courts to sand volleyball. However, it was determined in the past that really the basketball courts were used. We already had sand volleyball, so instead the basketball courts were renovated. So the fences were taken down, it looks a lot nicer, so they were renovated. That is kind of what they did with that item. General funds were used to renovate the playground, which is shown, and items see there. So that was a general fund project that was completed. And under item, it says convert tennis courts to pickleball courts. Instead of fully converting them to pickleball courts, what the department did is add pickleball stripes onto the courts. So they were not converted, they're due purpose. So they had a temporary net, then usually you need to do that. Unless they're still, so the lines were set up, so you're playing still the one net in the middle. Yes, that's right. Yes. They're also, let's see here, so item F is actually not on the plan at all. Another restroom, but we did do the shade structure over there by the tennis courts behind the little field E. And there has been landscaping done. The Tier 2 projects, it was determined that an adult and child adventure playground that was not funded by, that was not a priority funded. So that has been funded. We did do this off surface trail through the woods. In terms of amenities, there are benches back there. Park signage, that is part of our wayfinding signs that we're rolling out. That's the next park that will receive them. And then the lighting control upgrade, so redoing the lighting in the quad, of course, that's the one I mentioned is funded in fiscal year 25. So this is the master plan as it stands from the 2016 park plan. If there's, I know one of the comments we've talked about from the New Town and Shake Rack is sort of globally to add shade structures to all of our parks. But beyond that, or comment on that, this is a good place we also like shade structures, but tell me what else isn't on here that should be, or if this is, if we're heading the right direction with this plan. So Ergol start out. I know F is not described here in the drawing. Very ZF. Like where would it fall? So the shade structure we added, I'm sorry, I'm duplicating with the picnic shelter. We added a picnic shelter between Field 5 and the tennis courts. We have not added the shade structure at, it's not on the map. Okay. So, and the reason why I'm asking you if our goal is to cover any play area with shade, should ping pong area be in the same category or because, or is that something that is not as often used by you, does? I would say it's not as often used. Okay. Simon, what about field drainage? There seems to be definitely a field drainage issue on the two fields that Okay. Chairman. What about field drainage? There seems to be definitely a field drainage issue on the two fields that face, let's say, oh, closer to the smaller baseball side fields that the A and B. Back here? The A and B? Yeah, there's a lot of standing water and it's pretty muddy and I would say, you know, we're not playing older kids there, so it's not a big deal now. That'd be a huge deal if we were, but the problem is it goes so further in that our little guys are helping in the center field and it's just a mud. It's almost standing water's not, but you know, it's definitely a drainage issue that I feel that's... And we have talked about actually with the Association and previous staff members the possibility of adding more synthetic turf on those fields which could take care of some of those drainage issues. So if that's something that you all think might be appropriate, we can talk about adding that to the plan. How many synthetic fields do we have right now, out of the four? We have synthetic infields in the quad. Synthetic infields, grass outfields. Got it. Then field five, which is the little one, item E there, that is fully full synthetic turf. So, the drainage issue is in the outfield issue? Yes, it's awfully flat back here. And so, when you grade baseball fields, it all runs out. Right, so there's not much in the way of drainage. Like it, there's no places to pick up the water between those two fields. So it all runs down to lower fields and gets soggy. I feel also one last thing about the outside wall of the big wall. And I feel I feel which one is that too? If you're getting rid of those. I want the big wall. the big wall. And I feel I feel which one is that too? If you're getting rid of those. Oh, with the big wall. Yes, too. Yeah, that area behind it, you know, most it's primarily used for other teams to warm up before. Oh, yeah. Yeah, back behind there, it's right behind the wall. Right there. On the north side? Right here, you know what the big wall is? Oh, yes. Yeah, I'll see like two little diamonds from a little time. I got you back a few years. They're specifically used for warming up and things like that. I think there's, you know, if you're going to turf something or redesign them a little bit without spending a ton of money, you could definitely kind of make it a little bit more friendly for warming up for baseball, whether it's just, you know, baselines warming up while the other teams on the field. And they've gotten so big they use them for practices now because there's no room. Yeah, that is true. There is no room. We squeeze them in. It's brutal. To go back there when you have a story about 11 or 12. We've just gotten too big. The program has just gotten too big. Which is a good thing. That is outside of the full-size field. It turns into a lake. Back there. Yes, it does. Behind this wall, I know it's hard to see from the church. Right, right. I see the space that almost turns into a lake. Under water, lake. And then it starts draining in the boat. If the kids down here are in the mud. So Erick, I think it might be worth while just looking at this water issue. Absolutely. Right? Because, I mean, we don't get that many days of rain, but we still get a lot of rain. We do, yeah. And I will say, drainage upgrades that really fix the problem tend to be, they're, you have to dig up a lot of things. So that is, you know, certainly a big project to really make the drainage work. Can you, when you look at that situation, can you also look at it from a short term solution perspective? Because obviously, it's a capital expense and it's a huge time frame and commitment. But maybe there are certain things we could do on a short-term basis, because if it gets flooded, I don't think it's good for you to play in that area, but maybe there's a short-term solution or something that could be used. You certainly can look into it, yes. Any other observation? Paul, go ahead. I've brought this up before. Is there any discussion? I know I keep harping on it. And that's putting nets up between the quad. Nets up between the quad. Oh, for a pop line. Yeah, you're just waiting for an accident. Especially from, let me get this right, one. Three and four are bad. And one is bad because you have your back. It's your the concession. And the balls come right over the top and you have people standing there like this because they come, they come over and see that would be one. They come over the back of one right over the top of the net and most parks they put nets in between the quads. Right. To prevent them to get hit. Is there any discussion or I personally think we need them but. It's the perfect but. Perfect. Okay. Awesome. Thank you. Any other thoughts, co-observation because again this is a time to give our input. Everything that we mentioned doesn't guarantee it's going to get done but Erdogan team needs input so please, Jillian. Yeah, thank you. Of course, I'm fond of OC. So there were a couple of observations that we've made when the kids are playing the games, right? We're sitting in the bleachers specifically on field three. The netting is open. There's a huge gap between the metal poles and the netting. And I don't know, Rhonda, we're going to talk about having netting over the top if there's a way for them to inspect that area because we're seeing some of those foul balls are coming through the holes. It's a hole. It's a hole like it. Like there's a hole in the net, but the net is not connected to the metal pole. So the balls are coming obviously through there and the parents are like, oh, my god, I'm going to die. Okay. Right. So I would assume that if it's on field three, which is where I spend the most time, it's likely the situation on the other fields that have the netting. Obviously we're thankful for the netting. But so that's one I know we talked last time about the area between the new Concrete that's been laid and the fencing right and the huge gaps that are there So I think that's covered already Yes, so I hope it's been completed if not I will work on getting it completed So I'll check on that one haven't seen it yet. Yeah, okay And then something that I noticed and I don't know. I haven't seen it yet. I've got it. Yeah. Okay. And then something that I noticed and many parents who probably resonate with this is we have a lot of little that come out behind the concessions restroom right that main building and right because we had to fix the door. The door had been bent and then opened. And so that's been fixed. But would it be interesting for us to consider something fun there for the kiddos that are they're going to throw their little tennis balls and everything against the wall of that concession building no matter what you do. But what if we had something interesting there like painted targets, I mean, unless you're going to stop them or you want them to stop, they're not going to stop. But would it be fun, right? That there are all these little guys in Gauss, right? All these little ones are out there running around and they're throwing the ball and bouncing and it's hitting and they're trying to see what they can do and the other ones catching it and then they're all running around. I think they could be used that space and I really I don't know. Yeah, and actually I almost think that could be a really great like leadership project to. Yeah, exactly. I probably from this I probably would not encourage kids to throw things at my buildings. So but taking that idea is another direction and maybe onto the asphalt and like doing some things on that way. Perfect. Something like that. I know like if in Leogs right we painted the grounds with you know different things where the kids can interact. So I don't know if there's something we could do there. They're going to throw these balls at the wall no matter what you do. Right, right, they might find a guess. And if it's, you know, if we maybe we just say, hey, can you use tennis balls and not the baseballs or, you know, sometimes they have soccer balls. But anyway, offering that up is just a fun thing for the kiddos. Maybe I'll summarize that as add some little kid. Activities behind the concession building. Yeah. Baseball. Baseball. Yeah. Yeah. They just have fun right. They're throwing the tennis balls and they're bouncing and it goes and it hits the wall. And I can only. I mean, baseball hit the roof. So mean, what you're saying is less if you're going to have them being busy, let them make good at being busy. All right. Off-trafficer, I had a summarize that in words. Fun experience, right? One question I have is I know because OC Park Athletic Association Overseas Park for Athletic Activities. The situations like the open net kind of thing, you know, how often do they observe? Because obviously it is a hazardous situation if someone does get hurt. Do they, you know, on a monthly basis, go walk around and say, hey, you know what, maybe this is something you want to bring to the parks department attention. They do bring it to our attention. Also, I just want to remind everybody that there's JC now, which is a super great app on your phone that you can download. It's also a portal on the website. So if you're in the park and you see an issue, you can snap a picture and say it's recreation on parks and it literally comes right to our staff. And it's a work order system and we can track it and it gets done so it's really easy as issues come up even if it's a hornet's nest and a pavilion I mean just snap a picture and we get to take care of it so we appreciate people that do that honestly it's helpful. Oh I didn't know we could do that so that's... Totally can do that, JC now I think actually I noticed that our social team put it out on I think Instagram just reminding everybody that it exists but that's awesome. It's wonderful. Yeah. It's awesome. Great. Is the OPA responsible for the scoreboards? I mean, I know they've been retrofitted, but the boards themselves seem pretty old. So we have, yes, we've been working on that over the past year. We had to replace several of them. So they are, I mean, they're a hard, very amenity. So we own them. Okay. So when they need to be fixed, it's us that fixes them. But we replaced the controllers, right? But the board structures and the lights are still the same original ones, right? I believe we replaced the controllers. I can get back to the particulars. I know we replaced two whole boards, and we took the control panel out of one of those and used it for a third. So we've been working with those a lot, and I did get a JC now or email from someone that's basically that one isn't working again. So yeah, I think another year of that might have the natives restless. Yeah, they it's yes. Yes. Any other question? Because that OC Park is our baseball park and it is a busy park for a variety of ages. And I think it's going to remain busy. So Erica, in regards to this particular diagram, we are good, right? You got enough input from folks on this diagram? Yes. And what I really heard was that in terms of overall, this is a good plan. However, amenities such as nets over the quad addressing gaps in the netting, field drainage, upgrades, field drain improvements, and potentially something for small children in the quad. That's what I heard, which doesn't overall affect the site plan per se, just had some... Right. And in terms of the right of you, obviously, have some light fixture updates that you're going to be doing. So can we just spend a few minutes on that just to help people understand what's coming, because there seems to be a lot of upgrade in light. Yes, that's a great yes. Thank you for letting me speak on that. So in our part I mean, because there seems to be a lot of great in lights. That is a great yes. Thank you for letting me speak on that. So in our part plan, in the capital project, the tenure capital project, we thought that we would attack this in chunks, like do the lights for this field and then this field and then this field and this field because it's a big chunk of change. But there are economies of scale, and we have enough in the maintenance or cruel account to fund the lighting of the whole quad in fiscal year 25. So you can see field one, two, three, and four. Those will all be done in fiscal year 25. Fantastic. Any questions in regards to that? Because that will be a huge improvement. And actually that item should be going on council agenda for approval. I will say the lead time is really long, so we expect the lights. If it gets approved by council in the next month, we don't expect that we could install the lights before, say, February, honestly. So it's a 2025 first half of the year kind of? Yes, yes. Paul, go ahead. Is there any discussion? I was there any discussion of putting lights on field E, the one in the front? Oh, field five? Yeah. Not at this time. Okay. That is a future project. Which, oh, that's the field to the right. Yeah. Okay. It's the E. It's field 5 with the E down here. What age group is that for? Yes. T-Ball. It's like four and five year olds. So they, I mean, they might correct that normally and their normal school day time, they would not be there in the evening. Probably, yeah. Right? Yeah. So I'm just trying to figure out priority-wise, does it really make sense to push for that or not? Okay. All right. Fantastic. Any other questions? I think the lighting is going to be tremendous. And, and, and, Erica, because we have homes nearby, the new technology is good enough for us that no issue whatsoever. The new technology is amazing. It has cut-offs and mostly I said down, actually the interesting thing about the newer technology is so much of the light is pointed down at the field that they actually have to add a light up. So because the pop ball can go out of the field of light and back in, so just that just tells you how contained the light spill is With the new technology Fantastic any other questions having been going to that park for 10 11 years. It's wonderful now It's perfect except for these little things that are needed so they've done a great job with that park over the years I've seen it just like I mean just the bathrooms alone and nicer than mine Even the improvements we have done in Shake Rack Park and all that I mean the restrooms are really really nice All right, it matters even my daughter likes the rest Great great job the red. Okay. Great. Great job. So today we covered O.C. Park in the past. We have covered Shake Rack Park. We have done Newtown Park. We have done Colley Creek Park. So this is a great way for us to continue to give input. Just keep one thing in mind. As Eric guys mentioned, just because something is on the so-called timeline for capital expenditures doesn't mean it will always get done in the year that was originally planned for. Other priorities may come about, but that doesn't mean that that particular capital project is forgotten. It's just it may go onto the next cycle. But in addition to the capital projects, refresh opportunities, normal maintenance, situations like nets being torn or whatever it is. Again, JC, you know, app is a wonderful way of communicating. So let's continue to look at small, small increment improvements. There will be times when we will spend a lot of money, like the drainage issue, could be a significant expenditure. But maybe there's an opportunity we could do something for the time being and so. So Erica, I just wanna say on behalf of the team, thank you very much for bringing these master plan details pocket at time. And then more importantly, giving us the opportunity to share some input. Because I think people use the parks, people live near the parks and they certainly haven't put to get, you know. Any other questions for Erica before we move on on the agenda? So Madame Secretary, other business, I don't think we have any other business the only thing I would recommend is since we agreed upon the date for our Audrey Mill get together at 6 p.m. Let's just communicate with everyone and we may need to just coordinate with you just to make sure where we meet and as far as the other refreshments and other things are concerned I Will take the lead on it and then we'll figure things out Sounds good and Erica you are welcome to join And other members of the parks team are welcome to join as well, right? Any other business any other comments from anyone? I have a comment. I was not aware of the JC now at, but since Erica mentioned it, I did just put it on my phone. It is fantastic. I honestly would recommend anybody in here to get it and then be able to look at it. So I just pulled it up, went to calendars, go to October 9th, it has our RPEC meeting on there. I mean it's just a great way for us to see what's going on on a day-to-day basis, but also when our own meetings are and other meetings that we might also want to participate in. So Erica, thank you for bringing that up. That was just, that's a great way for us to know about it so we can share it with our community. Absolutely. And the other, the other thing I will say is in addition to us meeting here and discussing park activities, we do have the opportunity to attend City Council meetings. There is an opportunity to make public comment. It would be nice that, you know, now now and then we do go and take those three minutes and share our thoughts with the council. Many of them do watch the recording of this meeting, but more importantly, it's an opportunity in the public forum to just share your thoughts. And it's no harm saying, hey, I'm Sandra and I'm a member of the R-PAC and just want to say thank you for all the things our parks team is doing and council is doing because sometimes it's always good to let the council know in front of others that the parks are important to us. So please if you could make time attend the meeting and share a few words and that would be also good. So with that in mind, I think we are ready to adjourn. Oh, we went a little over, we went 51 minutes. Oh, do we, I'm sorry. Sure, please. Two questions actually. One, how long will it be fixed? I'd like to be closed. Uh-huh. And the other one is, are there any plans for a disc golf course in any other parks, particularly in the Valley Creek? Does it think it has more space in the area? Okay, so because of the fact that people may not be able to hear you, the question is, how long will Creekside Park, or the space is not park yet? Or the space behind City Hall will be closed for the construction of Creekside Park? And then disc golf as a sport. Are there any plans, whether it's Colleague Creek or other locations? Am I correct? Yes. Okay. Creekside Park is an 18-month project just kicked off so I expect roughly 18 months from two weeks ago. We do not currently have any disc golf courses. I think it's part of the master plan for Colleague Park, but it's not funded at this time. Okay. Does it mean it's obvious it's a very fast-growing sport and the courses around here. Do it great. You know, are well used. So, yeah, when I first was calling for a bar, I walked around and I thought, oh, well, we could go like a chart on a level course here. And it would be very welcome. Yeah, and these are perfect things for the public comment period. That's literally what it's for. So anytime you have that ability in a succession, that's your time to say that piece because it gets recorded. Things like that. Yes. So you can download JC now, look at the calendar when the council meetings are and there are two opportunities during the meeting in the beginning and towards the end to make your public comments and you can take three minutes at each of the areas. Thank you all for all the again, our goal is very simple. We have a new parks department. We have a wonderful team that leads that particular department. And we want to remain to be an exception city. And parks is a key, key part of our quality of life. So please, always join us, share your thoughts. Any other comments before we adjourn? So again, my goal has always been before an hour's time. We should be done. I'm happy we are going to be done. So can I have a motion to adjourn, please? Motion. All right. I'm going to move on that side. Paul, can I have a second? Our second. Gillian, all right. All those in favor, raise your hand. All right. Thank you very much.
