So I may... ...clock. You may know I'm a clock. It's not. Anyway, I'm from theandra Fox. Perfect. Yeah, thank you. You're right there. Oh, yes. Good morning. Grand Rising. I am Andrea Berry. And I am a Cassandra Fox descendant. My grandfather is Tipford Berry. My grandmother is Vamaberry. And my mother was the last owner of the African American Museum here, and the Himbrew family, and also my family also. Good. I am direct descendant. Well good, well great, thank you. Who else do we get everybody? I want to get all of our guests. We're all good. Yeah, we're good. Okay, we're good. Okay, we all come forward here and we want to honor y'all today. This is a court proclamation, honoring the Cassandra Fox family as pioneers and pillars of Ditton County. Whereas the Fox family has been an integral part of Ditton County's history for nearly two centuries with their roots tracing back to the early 1800s. Whereas the family's matriarch Cassandra Fox was brought from the Caribbean Islands and despite the hardships of slavery laid the foundation for a lineage that would significantly contribute to the cultural and social fabric of our community. Norris Cassandra Fox and her descendants became one of the earliest families to settle in what is now Hickory Creek, Texas, with their presence extending across Louisville and other communities here within Ditton County. Norris Cassandra Fox's descendants have played pivotal roles in establishing a nurturing institution such as the Lane Chapel, Color to Methodist Episcopal Church in Louisville, which began with six dedicated members, Idaho Fox, Henry, Dick and Ella McKinsey, John and Maddie Bush and Jack Sanders all formerly enslaved people. And as the Fox Hingry Cemetery established in 1845, and officially acquired by the Fox Family in 1895, serves as a lasting testament to the family's enduring presence and commitment to preserving their heritage in Ditton County. And raise the Fox Family's legacy is characterized by resilience, community leadership, and steadfast dedication to enriching the lives of those in Ditton County through civic, through various civic, and cultural endeavors. Now therefore be it resolved the commissioners court of Ditton County does hear by recognize and honor the Cassandra Fox Family for the remarkable legacy and acknowledge their invaluable contributions to the history, culture, and community of Ditton County. Done in open court, this is the 25th day of March 20th, 25 upon a motion made by Commissioner Mitchell, second by the chair in the discussion. Well, I want to say thank you so much to the family members for being here today. Thank you for being part of our county history and culture and y'all's contributions are duly noted. And to me, as I've heard about the Fox family and to him, Bruce, my whole life growing up in Old Town, Louisville and being from a family who's been here quite a while too. And so it's great to get to meet y'all here today. And I appreciate y'all's contributions to the county. I really do. Commissioner Mitchell. Well, I've been knowing May after for many years. Been in many years when I moved to Louisville in 71. May has been an activist on the ground fighting for everybody to have a right to sit at the table. And she's made sure that all of us knew what the Fox Henry history was all about. And so I've been on her a long time and I met the other young people at the Hickory Creek town council and Hickory Creek recognized the Fox Hymnry family. I want to thank you for all that you do. You know, a lot of times we have a lot of people that have lived in the county but all of the family members are gone so you never get to know the family members. But the Hymnry Fox family has been here for a long time and has been participating with the woodland chapel in the cemetery all these many years and doing everything they can to let people know that history is important. No matter what history is, history is important and we all need to know. I don't have a lot of history and so I'm glad to know that there are still people that have history. You know, Judge is always talking about him being a fifth generation, then county person. It's nice to know that we have people that are carrying on the legacy that our forefathers have left for us. And so I just appreciate you being here this morning. I appreciate you calling our attention to the legacy that the Fox, Henry family has left for us. And so we'll have some kind of guide book to go by. It's nice to know where you're being if you're going anywhere. Thank you so much for being here. Yes. All the proclamations that we have received will be placed in the African American Denton Museum in what is that area there in the square so they're gonna place all of them up there for generations to see. Good good good yeah that's one of our favorite projects at the counties our historical park and so we're gonna we're glad to have be glad to have the be part of our archives, educational purposes, and for all the public and the school kids, especially to come see. All right, any other comments? All right, we have a motion to second. All in favor say aye. Aye. Any opposed? Motion carries unanimously. Thank you for being here. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. I'm going to put it on the top. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. You. Here we go. This is getting better. Yeah. I'm pretty good at it. Come on. I'm pretty good at it. Come on. I'm pretty good at it. Come on. I'm pretty good at it. I'm pretty good at it. I'm pretty good at it. I appreciate it. I'm pretty good at it. I'm pretty good at it. Okay, wait. Okay, I know Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. I'm going to go to the bathroom. I'm going to go to the bathroom. I'm going to go to the bathroom. I'm going to go to the bathroom. I'm going to go to the bathroom. I'm going to go to the bathroom. I'm going to go to the bathroom. I'm going to go to the bathroom. I'm going to go to the bathroom. I'm going to go to the bathroom. I'm going to go to the bathroom. Hey, guess I'm pretty sure. Absolutely. Oh, mercy. All right, we're speaking of history and legacies in the county. I'd like to next go to item 3B and Kelsey if you'll come forward and Jill if you'll come forward. This is a approval of a resolution recognizing a minor and gesture PC as a didn't county heritage business in any appropriate action. So, oh good we got folks from the firm here. Perfect, perfect. Go ahead, Kelsey. Awesome. Well, thank you so much. I'm representing the Denton County Office of History and Culture. Today we are recognizing minor and gesture as one of our Denton County Heritage businesses. This is a program that we started in 2015 to recognize businesses in the county that have been in operation for 50 years or more. So minor ingestors at 58 years, I believe. So we're really excited to recognize them and thank them so much for their service to Denton County residents. Perfect, thank you. All right. do you want us anything before we get started? Well, I just, man, first of all, that's a hard act to follow. The Fox family earlier in all of the history and contributions they've made to our community. I just want to thank the County commissioners, the County judge, and I also want to thank Kelsey in the office of history and culture for this recognition. History means a lot to us. My law partner, Chris Henry and I, were both born at Flow Hospital. Wow. You're dating yourself, Jill. You know what, can we rewind that? Is that possible? Like I do in sports ball, you know, where they go back? No, but history has been very important to us. And Fred Miner started practicing law here in 1918. At some point in time, Wild Knight joined him. But my father, Tom Jester, joined him in 1967. Wow. We were both trained by Tom Jester, both Chris Henry and I, and we are very honored to carry forward the commitment to doing the right thing, the commitment to contributing to our community, recognizing how look we are to be here in the great state of Texas and in the best county, Denton County, and City of Denton. So thank you so very much for this honor. It means a lot to us and we pledge to carry on the tradition that was set by Fred Miner and Tom Jester and then Chris Inruin myself. Thank you so much. I know you will. Good, good. Did you want to say anything? Okay, you're good. The yields are plowing. The yields are big for us. All right, this is a resolution recognizing that didn't count the heritage of. The Ditton County Commissioners Court Ditton County, Texas during a regular session on the 25th day of March 2025, considered a following resolution. And whereas the Office of History and Culture wishes to recognize businesses that have been in operation for over 50 years with the title of Ditton County Heritage Business. Whereas in 1967, Tom Jester joined the law firm of Fred Miner and formed a partnership that became minor in gesture PC. Today the firm continues its legacy of serving the community, offering services and business law, bankruptcy, probate, real estate law, and estate planning here in Ditton County. And as partners Fred Meiner and Tom Jester were equally strong proponents of community service, both serving on many boards and in leadership positions, including the Ditton City Council, Ditt Independent School Board of Education, the Ditton Chamber of Commerce, and the Ditton County Bar Association respectively. Whereas in 2009, Christopher Henry joined the firm in Jill Jester, the daughter of Tom Jester joined in 2010. As the firm's current partners, they carry on the legacy of commitment to both their clients and their community. Now therefore, it will be resolved that the commission's Court of Ditton County that's here by recognize minor and gesture PC is at Ditton County Heritage Business for their continued dedication in service to Ditton County. Done an open court this a 25th day of March 2025 upon a motion by the chair. Second. Second by Commissioner Edminton. Well I love the fact that our office of history and culture honors businesses like yourself. It's amazing. I was just talking to our team this morning about the different business closures that are going on right now in retail across our county and across Texas and across America and other other establishments that have been closing and it just kind of highlights the fact of some businesses are here to stay and have been here in our county for many decades and minor and gestures. The perfect example of that and I want to thank you off for that doesn't just happen right you're you're in the customer service business you may be practicing law but ultimately You're in the customer service business, you may be practicing law, but ultimately you're in the customer service business and helping people with those wonderful business transactions. Sometimes they're positive, sometimes they're not, but you have to help people through the legal system here in the county. And I just wanna thank you off of what you do. Thank you for helping people. Your skills and dedication is what helps people businesses succeed in individuals. The rest are having to make take and make tough decisions. They need advice and counsel from qualified people. And that Yoss firm is known for that. And so I just want to thank you all for helping, be part of the fabric of this county. Helping succeed in their lives, their business lives in a personal life. So I want to thank you all for being a key part of that. So thank you all. Congratulations on what on this award today. Anyone else want to say anything? Commissioner Abbott said. Hi, Jill. I know your dad. I know your mom. And I'm so proud of you for now being on City Council, kind of carrying on that family tradition. So it's really a pleasure to know someone with the high ethics morals and integrity that you have and I'm sure your law partner does as well. So thanks for all you've done and you're not through girl, keep on. That's right. That's right. Any other comments? I just want to say congratulations to all of you. 50 plus years. You have the opportunity to do business in any other county. I know you started in Den County, but you could go somewhere else if you'd like. I appreciate the fact that you decided to stay here in Den County. History is important. And when we see someone that has a 50 year law firm, that kind of says that, oh, they're doing pretty good. I can trust them, and I can take my business there. And that's why we like history because history let us know that I've been here, I've done the job, and I can continue to do the job. Thank you for being inIN County. I appreciate everything you do and keep up to good work. Thank you. Thank you so much. We appreciate everything you do. All right, very good. These are all free. I have a judge of love. Yes, thank you, Judge. First of all, here in Denton, we're going to have an exciting event called Rhythms of Change, an 80s tribute to Black History that will be the 27th of 530 PM and it's going to have a celebration of Black History with music, dance, and stories from the 1980s. And then the senior center will be having a spring bizarre on the 29th from 10 to 2. And it's the first ever time that they've done this. So you all stop by and help them out with this. In Ponder, there's going to be Frontier Days on March 29th at 9 a.m. This will bring together businesses and the community. And the New Fairview is still having their tire collection. I have to tell you, my husband and I drove over to East Texas over the weekend and there was a place that had four tires along the side of the road but he would not stop so that I could pick those up and take them over to Newfair. Please don't. Well, he has no sense of community problem. We have enough and didn't count. Anyway, they're still collecting them if anybody else has any. Thank you, Judge. Perfect. Thank you. I wanted to give a shout out to our didn't noon, Kioon Kiwanis. They're having a taste of North Texas. Thursday the 27th, you'll take place up of the Ditton Triangle Mall. The Golden Triangle Mall, it's starting at 6 p.m., so this event offers excellent food from local restaurants and beverage establishments. Tickets can be purchased online or in advance, or they're at. So that's going to be super fun. So I wanted to mention that. And I also want to mention that today is National Medal of Honor Day. And I had the real privilege of getting to attend the National Medal of Honor Museum that opens officially today in Arlington. And so it was great to be able to be there. There are so many different financial partners across our region and the state and across the country. We don't make that a reality. And one of the committees on the Regional Transportation Council was one of the financial partners. So, very pleased to get to represent the county there. But the national, the Medal of Honor was created by Congress back during the Civil War in 1861. And it was the highest military honor in most prestigious. And you can see the very first medal that was presented at Jacob Parrott back in 1863 and that metal is there and I will tell you it was so great to be in the presence of true heroes or so many living awardees that were there and to get to thank them for their service was a real treat, very special. So I encourage everybody to go. It's right there between the Convention Center and the Bob Park and Arlington is a very, very special place. And so put that on your list because it's very moving and touching to get to be, to see those exhibits. It's the greatest, some great sacrifices for Americans for freedom. All right, let's go to, yes, ma'am. Can I piggyback on the interesting? Yes, ma'am, please. For years, the town of Gainesville, not in Ditton County, but just North in Cook County, has had a long weekend on the Battle of Honor winners. That's the wrong term. They didn't win against the recipients of Battle of Honor. and they fly into DFW and then they're escorted by and winners, that's the wrong term. They didn't win it. It's a recipients of honor. And they fly into DFW and then they're escorted by, in this case, Council of Precinct 4 all the way up on I-35 to Gainesville and all along the way, people stand and wave flags. The fire departments get on the bridges and put their fire ladders up and hang flags from it. It's just the most moving thing. And I was delighted to learn that even though we now have this wonderful museum, we're still going to have the Gainesville celebrations. And I'd invite any of you who are interested, we'll be putting out the exact time that you can look for this parade to come past your place on I-35W. Stand out, wave your flags, feel proud of being an American and thanking these people because truly, we are the home of the free because of the brave. That's right. Thank you, Diane. Yeah, that's been a part of that for many years and it's very moving to see all the folks lined up. I'll look at the one 14 at 35, 35W. So all right, let's proceed to executive session. I have a few things today.
