Good morning everyone. Morning. I'd like to welcome you all. To the Tuesday May 13th, 2025 meeting, the Denton County Commissioner's Court. We're glad to have you all here in person and those of you who are tuning in. Good morning. At this time, I'd like to welcome forward our very own share of Tracy Murphrey and he is going to lead us in our invocation. And on our pledges will be led by our county auditor, Mr. Jeff May. If you'll please stand on the matter, please turn up your cell phones. We pray with me, please. Our gracious Heavenly Father, Lord, thank you for another day, another day, not promise God that you're giving us. We thank you for that opportunity, an opportunity to serve you, to serve our fellow man. God, this morning I lift up Bobby Mitchell, her family to you, Lord. Father, pray you continue to wrap your arms around her and to give her healing and to give her peace, Father, and send her back to us healthy. But Father, as we begin this police memorial, we ask you to lift up the families of our fallen brothers and sisters, father, that you would wrap your arms around them, God. In your word, you tell us that blessed are the peacemakers. And you also tell us, Lord, that the faith, hope, and love, the greatest of these is love. And you tell us that no greater love is a man that would lay down his life for a friend, a father, and I ask that those words give those families comfort that they can know that their loved ones who made the ultimate sacrifice did so and love and in service of their fellow man. Father, lift up this court and that they would seek your direction and seek your word and seek your wisdom. Jesus name up, Ray. Amen. Amen. Thank you, Sheriff. Mr. Mayor. Please join me in the pledge to our great nation. I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation under God, individual with liberty and justice for all. And now, to our great state, honor the Texas flag, a pledge allegiance to the Texas, one state under God, one in the individual. Okay. Thank you, Sheriff. Thank you, Mr. May. All right. Sheriff, you don't mind coming back forward. We were going to go ahead and do our item 3a, which is approval of a Proclamation Recognizing National Police Week and National Police Memorial Day. And good morning, sir. Good morning. We have this Proclamation today. Do you want to discuss this at all before we get started, sir? Yes, sir, I do. Thank you guys for doing this. And you see the men and women standing behind me are out there every single day willing to give their life for a stranger. And it's a unique fraternity that I'm extremely proud to have been a part of for almost 40 years. And it's, you know, we go through difficult times on hiring people and people who want to get involved in law enforcement. And we've gone through some very hard times in the last few years. But I've always said that as frustrated as I have become and they were still coming. Maybe not in great numbers, but there were still people who are willing to serve. They're willing to put their lives on the line every single day and willing to do those things for not just friends and not just family, but like I said said complete strangers. And for those of us who have lost friends in the line of duty, this week means a little bit more and we do appreciate that it's an appreciation week but I can can tell you that men with a stent of a high mirror much more focused on the losses that we have suffered throughout the year, throughout our careers. And I'm just, I'm thankful that they're here. They're willing to serve a level and for it and I appreciate this recognition. Thank you guys. Thank you and chef. I'll echo your comments and I'd honor to get to go to the to Washington DC a few years ago to the National Police Memorial events and I remember getting looking at being there in the mall that evening at a candlelight vigil and looking through the program. And I kept thinking this must be a cumulative list of everyone that is all the police officers, but it was just that year. It was just that year. And it's very moving to see the families there, the survivors, the law enforcement from the agencies that lost someone that are represented from across the United States and had an opportunity to visit with an officer from Germany who came over to pay his respects because he knew some of the agents that he had worked with and he wanted to come over and it was just, it was actually an international event. They're in Washington DC but it's really down to the national, it's a national event but it's really down to the individual agencies in each individual community. And I know that we have, in addition to the ceremony there, that will be there this week. They have the memorial. And I encourage people, if you have not been to the memorial, to go to the memorial there in Washington, see it's just north of them all. And I also have a museum there as well, which is very moving to see all the different individuals that are memorialized there and learn more about their lives and their individual sacrifices and their contributions to a civil society. So I encourage people to attend that ceremony nationally and also here locally. And so I do want to remind people as we, before I read this, that the public is invited to the 29th Annual Ditton County following Officer's Memorial on Wednesday, May the 14th tomorrow, from 10 to 11 here at our Ditton County Ampitheater Memorial Park here at one courthouse drive. So if you're watching this, would like to come out and pay your respects. very solemn ceremony and it's an important thing that we do here to show appreciation to those individuals and I will say that the county, we place reeds with the florists there locally in D.C. every year during this week. And so if you go to Washington, see we, although we're here locally, we are honoring from afar our officers there that represent our agency. So we're very, very respectful of their sacrifice to this day. I'd like to read this core proclamation recognizing National Police Week and National Police Memorial Day made the 11th through the 17th 2025 and whereas Congress and the President of the United States have designated May the 15th as National Police Memorial Day and the week in which May 15th falls as National Police Week and Residant members of law enforcement agencies throughout didn't county play an essential role in safeguarding their rights and freedoms of Ditton County, Texas. Whereas it is important that all citizens know and understand the duties, responsibilities, hazards, and sacrifices are their law enforcement agencies. And that members of our law enforcement agencies recognize their duty to serve the people by safeguarding life and property by protecting them against violence and disorder and by protecting the innocent against deception and the weak against oppression. Whereas the men and women of the law enforcement agencies throughout Dyn County unseasonally provide a vital public service. And now therefore be resolved the Dyn County Commission's court calls upon all citizens of Dyn County and all patriotic civic and educational organizations to observe the week of May 11th through the 17th, 2025. As National Police Week, we invite everyone to participate in the Dint County Sheriff's Office Fall and Officer Memorial on Wednesday, May the 14th, 2025 at the Dint County Ampitheater Memorial Park located at one courthouse drive, didn't Texas, to honor law enforcement officers, both past and present, by their faithful and loyal devotion to their duties, have rendered a dedicated service to their communities, and in so doing, have established for themselves an inviable and enduring reputation for preserving the rights and security of all citizens. Further be resolved that the Dyncanny Commissioners Court calls upon all citizens to observe May 15, 2025 as National Police Memorial Day and honor those law enforcement officers who through their courageous deeds have made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their community and have become disabled in the performance of duty. And let us recognize and pay respect to the survivors of our fallen heroes.
