We will start with the report. We will start with the report. We will start with the report. We will start with the report. We will start with the report. We will start with the report. We will start with staff report. Yes. You agree to the conditions on the staff report? Yes. Do you want to give us a presentation or you just want to answer questions? Answer questions. Okay. Thank you. Remember the board has questions for the applicant. We will. Any member of the public has questions for the applicant? Yes. We will. Any member of the public has questions for this applicant? No speaker forms, Ms. Helmne. Okay. At that, we were closed to public hearing group who move on toward deliberation. And who would like to begin? It's Sandia. So could you tell us what changes you made? Remember we discussed the roof. Yeah, the drawings. So the roof is now extends back to meet the existing roof to try to deal with the, or to address the issues with water that were raised. And then, trying to find the right page. Yeah. I think that's the primary change. Um, those are anything else. I'm going to put it on the table. If I could just to interject your first one minute. Just. Someone can you pull up. This page here number eight of the staff report. Just want to make sure the board understands some of the modifications. Now go up. So there's some of the changes. Sorry, we have a little bit of technical difficulty. Some of the changes also include some reconfiguration of windows that were the board. You may recall the board asked for some simplification of windows that windows were a little large and sort of unbalanced. So the windows have been, have been balanced a little bit. The form has also been cleaned up as it goes on the north side, even though the north side is not really visible from the alley very much. But there was some concern, I think, about a step, a step in the roof over there. There we go. There we go. So you can see here the windows top is the previous one, the bottom is the new one. So the windows are just kind of look a little bit more like the house than they did before. And I think I don't think I'm missing anything. I think that's most of it. Just kind of simplified the room form. And I think made the windows, yeah, there you go. That's the previous one. And then you can see where it has become more simplified. So I just wanted to point out some of the modifications. Thank you, and we can act clear for us, Mr. Colkey. Any other board members or comments? I appreciate your working with staffed. I think it's a much nicer submission. And the roof is tied in nicely. I think it'll be a nice addition. Well, they were a big help. Yeah. Good. I would say the same that we appreciate you having the patients to work with staff and to get this, I don't mean that in a comical way, Mr. Conkey. And work with staff and try and making this, it is a much nicer renovation. And so I appreciate all the hard work you guys have put into this. Thank you. I don't believe I was at the meeting when we considered it last time. So I reviewed the application as it is now and I think it looks nice. So I'm inclined to support it. Right, thank you. Ms. Sandion, would you like to have a make-emotion party, please? Sure. Same here. I move to approve Paris staff recommendations. Is there a second? A second? Mr. Colchie? Yes, sir. Sorry, two many pieces, too many pieces of paper flying around here. Okay. Miss Sandion. Hi. Mr. Scott? Hi. Miss O'Neil? Hi. Mr. Spencer? Hi. Congratulations. Thank you. So now we move on to new business tonight First item of new business item number 10 and 11 First is BAR 2024-00266. Parker Gray, excuse me, request for alterations at 1008 or Noko Street. Applicant is Cody Stadler, Stadler Design LSE. And BAR 2024-00295, Parker Gray. Requests for partial demolition and encapsulation at 1008 or Noko Street, Applicant Cody stoutler stoutler design LLC Applicant or the representative here to speak on behalf of the project Welcome, please stage name and address for the record please. Hi evening. I'm Cody stoutler my address is 9207 volunteer drive Alexandria address is 9207 volunteer drive, Alexandria. Have you read staff recommendations? I have. Do you agree with staff recommendations? Yes. OK. Would you like to make a presentation or just answer questions? I can just answer questions. OK. I see. Remember the board has questions for this applicant. Looking at your section, it looks like your new gapal roof is basically on top of the existing CMU, right? You're not really raising the side walls higher than the highest CMU point. Correct. Yeah, the CMU is currently misaligned, so bringing up one side is blocking to align it and then building on top of that. Okay, that sounds good, and then you're going to be facing the CMU with flag stone. Yes, yes. Okay, and then how does that, what is that condition of the corner? Is there a corner piece for the flag stone or is that? I think the intention is that we'll find corner pieces for the flagstone so that we don't have an ugly but joint turning the corner. Okay. Any other questions from the board? Seeing none, you know, in the remaining room, the public that would like to speak or ask questions whether it's applicant. Any speakers for them to tell them that we'll close the public hearing and move on to board deliberations. Mr. Scott, Mr. Vice Chair, would you like to begin? Um, yeah, I mean, I think it looks fine. My only question is this, um, the treatment on the exterior is that all flagstone there or is it, is it that lattice that we see in the photo now? It's all flagstone. It's the the texture the way the texture renders. Yeah, it'll all be a flagstone. And orange a large format facing flagstone not a stack. Is it a natural stone or a natural not simulated? Okay, thank you. Miss Sandion, do you have any comments? Is the door the existing location and is that why it's not centered on the window? That's on the best elevation. Yeah, it can probably be cleaned up to the center on the dormer window above. Yeah. That would be good. I think that's all for me. Mr. Doninho, do you have any additional comments? If not, would you like to make a motion? I'm motion to approve this application with staff recommendations. Is there a second? Second. All those in favor? Say aye. Aye. Aye. Aye. I think there's demolition. Your demolition Mr. Colpy. Sorry I was trying to get to my button. Sorry there's demolition. Oh the roof, right? Thank you though. Thank you Mr. Scott for catching up on. I was just talking to my button here. Yeah. It's all you struggling. I thought I can get it through without you. LAUGHTER So. I'm not sure if you can see the comments. Yeah, right. Exactly. Okay. Miss Andion. Hi. Mr. Scott. Hi. Mr. Nioh. Hi. Congratulations, sir. Mr. Conkey, what's next on the new business stock it. So next time on the darkest night is actually one that we'd like to defer. So I'd like to get the ask the board to vote under deferral. We push that to the end. The very last item. We can't, it's not the applicant is not here tonight. Yeah. I know we just do that at the very end. Okay. We can do that. So it can get through the rest of the dark at items. Sure. Absolutely. Thank you. Okay, so then that puts us to number 13 and 14. This is BAR 2024-00280 Oldenstort District. Request for addition and alterations at 622 and a half South St. Aces Street. Applicant is Michael A. Mitchell Construction LLC. And BAR 2024-00307. Oldenstort District request for partial demolition and encapsulation at 62 and a half south St. Aces Street, applicant is Michael A. Mitchell Construction LLC. Welcome. Thank you. Please take your name and address for the record, please. Michael Mitchell, 61-03 Kirk, and the court in Springfield, Virginia. And the occupation is the city of California. I'm a member of the city of California. I'm a member of the city of California. I'm a member of the city of California. I'm a member of the city of California. I'm a member of the city of California. I'm a member of the city of California. I'm a member of the city of California. I'm a member of the city of answer questions. Okay. All right. Who has questions from this applicant from the board? This Sandy looks like you're ready to push your button. One question. So I understand that this is going to have a flat-roof correct tipio. Are you going to bring the gutter up all the way? The existing gutter. I see there's a line, the pipe basically, to, is that what you're gonna use? Yeah, you need to mash up the gutter. Same one, okay. That was all my question. I have a question. Seeing, it looks like this structure of the roof that you're playing on this is a flat roof for the most part. Yes. How is it draining? Which way is it sloping? To the back of the house. Sloping so it's going to all slope towards the back of the house right over the doorway area. To when drain that's there? Yes. Okay. And how does it tie into the other roof? Or does it not? It ties in under the soft. The height of it. Up above on the second floor. The second floor, yes. Oh, it'll tie right back in there. The gutter gets cut and the rafters will go back in onto the wall, directly, system wall. And then it'll be a TPO roof on top of that. OK. Is downing you? You own questions? I'm going to bring up the side elevation, I think, we'll help to clarify what you're talking about. PJT. I'm sorry, that didn't clarify anything for me. It's not shown there, but it's in the picture of the gutter. I think it just goes up. Yeah. Yeah. That's why I had to question because I looked at that drawing. It doesn't clarify anything for me. It's drawing shows that, so is that I think the condition that you're referring to the best that we have saw. Yes, I understand. Mm-hmm. I was having to read. Should we have any questions, Miss? The one in you? I didn't. No. Okay. I just had a couple of questions. It's so it looks like your addition will have someone of a little bit of a cantilever over the back door. Is that right? Do you have a trim detail at the bottom there? Or is it just going to be siding above a soft that how are you going to do that treatment at the bottom edge of the addition? Yeah. I mean on the outside edge that projects beyond the door. Okay, and. Okay, so painted the same. And in terms of the board thickness is that the same as what you have on the rear the existing rear addition of the house. Okay, the profile, the existing rear addition of the house? Okay, a profile of the board. Okay, thank you. So you know, the question is, is there any member of the public that has questions for this application? Seeing none, we would close the public hearing and go on to board deliberation. And I will call on Ms. Downinho, would you like to make a motion to approve this application with the San Fracament Dations. Is there a second? Second. Mr. Conkey. Yes, sir. Ms. Andian. Aye. Mr. Scott? Aye. Miss El Nguyen? Yes, sir. Ms. Andion. I. Mr. Scott. I. Miss El Nguyen. I. Mr. Spencer. I. Congratulations. Thank you for coming out. What's next, Mr. Conkey? Would you like to make a presentation or just answer questions? I was just willing to answer the questions this was all done by architects and the engineering people and we're in closing a porch or a balcony porch exactly like the other seven that are in the eight unit. And so I know I'm not an expert at the engineering. I'm not an expert in anything other than this has been approved by the condominium management people and if my 97 neighbors and the condominium are happy with it, I'm happy with it. I just want to get it in close so that it will look and be as appealing as the others. Thank you, sir. Have you read the staff recommendations? Have you read the staff recommendations? I said it. Yes, I have. You agree to staff recommendations? I did. Thank you. Does anyone remember the board has questions for the applicant? Is there any member of the public who has questions for the applicant? Is there any member of the public has questions for the applicant? Is the applicant or the representative here to speak on behalf of the project. Let's push it to the back of the counter. We have one item left still. We will do that and then circle back. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Have you read this staff recommendations? Yes, I have. You agree to staff recommendations? I do, including the recommendations of archaeology, I'll extend. Would you like to give a presentation or just answer questions? Happy to answer questions. OK. Any member of the board has questions for the applicant? Any member of the public has questions for the applicant? Tell him another, and he speaks for him. I'm sure he does. He just wants to answer questions. Okay, that being said, we will close the public forum and go on to board deliberation. May I have a motion from someone or would someone like to begin the deliberation? I can't make a motion if no comments. I motion to approve for staff recommendations. Is there a second? I'll second that. Mr. Comkey. Is there a second? I'll second that. Mr. Colkey. Yes, sir, and this is demolition, but it's just one thing, so. Just complimenting the chair on his observation that it's a walk-off vote. Okay. Thank you, sir. I'll take that. This is Andy and... I. Mr. Antioch. I. Mr. Scott. Yes. Stundino. I. I. Congratulations. Thank you very much. Mr. Con Katie looks like we may have two items we may have to defer. The board can hit the board. The applicant does not have to be here in order to hear the case. So for number 17. That one, yes, that would be, that would be, the staff is asking for the referral for that. So we'll need you to vote on that one. Yes, I know that one. Yeah, but 17, I mean, they aren't here, they have not requested a referral. So we can move forward with the, all right, easy if you can do that. I'm not sure if you can do that. Um, they aren't here. They have not requested a deferral. So we can move forward with the. All right. If you'd like. Or if you have the staff report. Or members feel comfortable without the client without the applicant being here. I'm comfortable that I did have a question though for Mr. Kongy about the window standards. And just as an FYI, I don't recall if it was this case or not, but somebody was in touch with staff, with another staff member, and whoever it was was told, oh, your case is deep into the docket, you don't need to get there right at seven. So again, I don't know if it was this case or not, but just as an FYI, somebody may be thinking, oh, I'm number 17 on the docket, I don't need to get there till 930. I don't need to. Anyway. Okay. My only question was these are double pain windows or double not single pain windows. That's correct. The application is for double pain windows. Yes. So is that why it's before the board? That is why it's before the board because this is as we noted in the application, I'm sorry, in the staff report. It is technically an early building built 19 to 19 to 11, 19 21. The staff report notes the 1974 major renovation that changed the style of the building. And that's why staff is recommending approval based on the 1974 date for the change. But the reason that it is before the board is because it is technically an early building. So, I mean, policy doesn't allow for double-pain. So the historical facade that dates to the 19 teens has been modified, such that it's not really recognizable as an early building? Correct. I mean, if you look at this picture here, you can see the picture on the left is what it looked like prior to 1974. And then you can see in 1974, it was dramatically altered. Windows were, when the styles were changed, the Ruseb divided it into? No, no, no, it was still, it was a twin. But no, it didn't change the footprint of it. They just dramatically changed it to a game of roof. As we say, they colonialized it in 1974. And so that's a dramatic difference in the style. That's why staff was saying, while it is technically an early building, we believe that it's really significantly 1974. So the logic to why we would want a historical looking window, a single pin window on an early building, may not apply in this instance. That's the opinion of staff? Yeah. Okay. I mean, I can live with that, but I'm interested in that. But it's ultimately our decision. Yeah. Of course, yes. That's why it's here at the board tonight and not with a administrative approval. Right and I think what you know what we were thinking you know for buildings that haven't been altered as much that would encourage them to even though they may have modern windows to go back to a single plane so that we can, you know, bring the building back to its original condition, but... All right, who would like to begin the deliberation? Is Sandion? I moved to approve with the staff recommendation. Is there a second? I second. Sorry. Mr. Nia. No, I was just coughing. I think that came across as a second. You guys move fast tonight. You guys are making their heart on me. No, I can second that. Okay. Thank you. Were you coughed? All right, Mr. Conkey. Reserve the right to uh make that be a cough. Um this is not demolition so this is not a roll call for. No removing the windows. No, this is a window replacement so it would become a demolition if the uh windows were becoming larger. Okay, the wall area was getting removed, but it's just a replacement window. All right, just being a little conservative. All right, so, got a second. All those in favor say aye. Aye. I oppose a nay. I as havoc, congratulations. What's next under other business, Mr. Comkey sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. We have the motion to accept the request. I move to approve the deferral request. Second. All those in favour say aye. Aye. Any opposed say nay. I have it. It's next under other business. Mr. Cullin. That is all we have tonight. It's remarkably under other business, Mr. Cullin. I'm sorry. That is all we have tonight, guys. It's remarkably fast for a long docket. Thank you, guys. That's a turn. I said that to my mom. Wow.
