Next on the agenda is summary of City Council actions. Thank you commissioners. We did have two hearings between our last PNZ meeting and tonight's meeting. That's the February 24th and the March 3rd meeting. At that point in time, we did hear a zoning case that's CC 24008, which is on a property on 287 in between 287 and Mitchell just south of the HEB site that we just saw. This case was remanded to the Planning and Zoning Commission to consider future land use base rezoning. If you recall, this was a case that was, at the time it came to the commission, it came as a SOMA based case at its first and second hearing. Council did look at alternative zoning and remanded it so that the commission could hear that. When there are updates on that case, staff will be sure to provide you with those and keep you in the loop on them. But that was the only case that was heard on those two dates. Thank you, sir. Do you have any questions for Mr. Rodriguez? I do. Yes. What was the purpose behind the request to rezone? The original purpose? Yeah, I'm just curious, maybe some more details on council's actions for this. So the original purpose was to provide for a mixed use style development. That mixed use style development would have had commercial and residential uses mixed on the entire properties area. I think Council wanted to look at further considerations looking at what the future land use designates the area as, which is retail and office. Because of that, I think we're trying to have a discussion on what the most appropriate zoning is. But again, we're having those discussions with the developer as we speak to make sure that we can do something in line with the city's vision. All right thanks already. Other questions from Mr. Rodriguez? Commissioners I would ask that I believe that there's a possibility that this particular gen item could be on our meeting in April. Our first meeting in April, I believe is scheduled for April the 7th. Is that correct, Mr. Rodriguez? We're still continuing discussions with the developer and we'll provide updates as we get those time frames nailed down. I think that's all I can provide it. And that is fine. The only reason I bring it up is that I was just asked that we try to do all we can for the next couple of meetings to make sure that we're all in attendance as this particular item comes up on the agenda. Thank you so much. Thank you. Next, our Commissioner announcements. Commissioner Thompson. Well, we all know that the pickle parade is coming up. So make sure that you mark your calendars. And it's only on Main Street. They changed the route this year for the parade for the construction and all that fun stuff. But it is fun, it's a family event, and then also the music alley. Music alley is coming up too, so that's always a good time. And I'm very happy that the sun is out now. Don't have to ride home in the dark. Vice Chairman Axon? Yeah, I just want to, first of all, thank the city for allowing us to attend the focus north Texas conference. I think Dave and I had a pretty good time enjoying to hear the speakers and the presentations. A lot of interesting data out there on what other cities are facing around north Texas and then the overall growth of our region. It also gave us a little bit of time to spend with our new planning executive, Mr. Clayton Comstock. So that's all I got to not but I wanted to appreciate the staff for inviting us to go to that. I found it very informational. Great. All right, Commissioner Bennett. Good. Commissioner Godden. I'd like to also say thank you for that. It was a great imitation. It was great meeting you there. And I thought it was very interesting because the city that we're participating in this focus group are going through exactly what we're going through. And it's interesting to see how their path and what they're taking to make sure their path is correct. I think the most interesting part of it, when I finished and reflected back on it, is looking at what our city staff is doing, look at what the city council is doing, and just sitting back and saying, you know what, we're heading in the right direction. We're doing the right things, and I think we should be so proud of what our city's doing, plus what we're doing. As we review all these main issues that come for us, how we are taking this so seriously and how we're moving our city forward, I think everybody should just be so happy with the things that's going on. So that's what I have. Thank you. Thank you, sir. Commissioner Moses? Yes, sir. I want to welcome Mr. Clayton Comstock to the greatest city in the very image of God. So welcome. I don't know if I want to follow that. As well done, sir. Welcome, sir. We're glad to have you. I do want to share with you. I had an opportunity this past week to be a part of what's called Panther DIN. It is a contest that takes place in the DFW area where there are teams that come together, people from different walks of their particular careers, they have architects, engineers, planners, they get together and they work on a planning design for a specific city for a specific piece of land. This year they selected the land that is on Heritage Parkway for us and they came up with some great designs for that particular project. I tell you, they really thought outside the box. Somebody wanted to bring back the Kyle Bell stadium and a whole lot of other things, but I would tell you just to watch, they're all young people, just to watch them put on display their talents and their thought process around how they came up with the different ideas. It really, really was exciting. We did have some representatives from the City of Mansfield that were on that group as well. Jason Moore was there, he and I were a part of the judges, and it was something great to be a part of, so I really do appreciate the city giving me that opportunity. And don't know if any of those designs will ever come to fruition in Mansfield, but the one that did win, did really did a great job, and there was some lot of thought put into that. So, certainly a great experience, a great time to be a part of that. We really do appreciate it. Okay, staff announcements? First, I'm gonna take a little bit of an opportunity. Also let Clayton come up and introduce himself. I know some of y'all have met him. Yeah, thank you, Mr. Chairman. Thank you, Commission for welcoming me. Welcome to the evening. I'm happy and blessed to be part of the city of Mansfield. I've been watching Planning and Zoning Commission meetings and City Council meetings for the past couple of months in preparation for starting this position. So I kind of understand some of the kind of nuances and intricacies of Planning and Zoning Commission and City Council meetings so far. But so my name is Clayton Comstock. As you all have mentioned, I'm the new executive director of planning development for the city and man's field. I've spent the last about nearly 20 years in northeast Tarant County between two different cities. Got here as soon as I could. Sorry, it took so long. But you guys are doing some wonderful, amazing things in man's field and I wanted to be part of it. So I'm blessed and happy to be here. I also serve as some of you have already seen and mentioned as the director of the Midwest section of the Texas Chapter of American Planning Association, or Texas APA Midwest section. So I kind of have a front row seat to some of the other opportunities that Tarrant County, Denton County, Johnson County and other places kind of Fort Worth West are going through with their growth. We talked about focused North Texas and some of the growth that we see in North Texas. So with that, I will probably be letting you guys know about other opportunities for not just the focused North Texas or the elected and appointed officials workshop, which I know I met some of you at last year. I'll probably be continuing that for the next three years at least. But there are going to be other opportunities through the Midwest section for you guys to be a part of. I want to make sure and share with you for instance on March 21st with the City of Lewisville. They'll be touring Old Town, Louisville, as part of a kind of morning lotes and leadership workshop. So kind of an opportunity to get out of Mansfield, look at what other communities are doing with their old towns because I know we have our own downtown Mansfield that we're really cherished. But what are some other cities doing with their old towns and revitalizing them, programming them, and making them awesome spaces? That's all I have. I just wanted to introduce myself and look forward to having many more meetings with you all, many more presentations as the days go on. So thank you very much, appreciate it. Well, welcome again, so we're certainly glad to have you and we've heard nothing but great things about you. So we feel privileged to have you in the city of Mansfield And I'll just finish up staff announcements circling back on a conversation we had last month We will not have a meeting on March 17th. So everybody please enjoy spring break But our next meeting is scheduled for Monday, April 7th. Great. Anyone have questions for staff? Okay, we'll move to agenda item number 12. Motion to adjourn. Motion to adjourn by commission of Bennett. Second by commission of Moses. Please cast your votes. Motion to adjourn by Commissioner Bennett second by Commissioner Moses Please cash evokes That agenda item carries six zero we are adjourned at 617 p.m. Photo time.
