I'm going to go to the next room. I'm going to go to the next room. I'm going to go to the next room. I'm going to go to the next room. I'm going to go to the next room. I'm going to go to the next room. I'm going to go to the next room. I'm going to go to the next room. I'm going to go to the next room. I'm going to go to the next room. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. Thank you. Chair pertain, Councillor Simulia, the lead is in the pledge of allegiance. Chair. Thank you. Please, I'll place your hand over your heart and begin with me. I pledge allegiance to the flag of United States of America and to the Republic, which is One Nation, under God, indivisible with liberty and justice for all. Thank you. and to the recovery which is in one nation under God indivisible with liberty and justice for all. Thank you. Okay. Director Plantin, I believe we have a special presentation before we go into the roll call first. Roll call. Yes, let's do the Katrina. Can you do roll call please? Here. Chair, go bit of here. Here. Here. Here. Here. Here. Thank you. Helps when I have my glasses on. So now director Glanton, it looks like we have a special presentation. We do. Thank you chairperson. We have a presentation by one of our full of awesome staff members who's here tonight to tell you about a new program that we're starting later in June that's benefiting the senior center. So I would I'd like to invite to the podium my bestie, Ceci Torres. Wonderful introduction, bestie. So before I get started I do have a couple of things to pass out to you guys. Thank you. Oh, thank you. Oh, thank you. And then also as an incentive you guys to join us for the Go Night. Oh, oh. Oh, oh. Oh, oh. Wow, look at that. You go sweat. Yes. I guess we have to go now. I'm going to trade you. I trade you. Thank you. Stay sweet. Where are these? We were in the duration of the meeting. I vote you were them, but you don't need to carry on. I wanted to wear them while presenting, but I thought the lights and the barriers wouldn't be a good idea for presenting. Welcome, C.C. But anyways, I just wanted to take the time. Thank you guys for having me to share an upcoming event that we have on Friday, June 27th. It's going to be our party bingo night. And as you can see, it's going to be full of fun. So you guys all have a hard copy of this flyer, but this has already been circulating at our facilities. We have quite a few social media posts and you know things that we have planned out as well, banners that we're going to be posting as well just to make sure we get the word out. I am happy to say that we have sold almost over half of our capacity so far and we still have a little over a month of time to do more sales. So that's exciting. Most of the timeline is already on there, but I wanted to share that the sales portion for Bingo Night will be from 6 to 7 pm. Cocktails will be from 6 to 8 and the gameplay will be from 7 to 15 to roughly 9.30. During that time we also are going to be seeking the help of volunteers to just kind of be like drink runners and servers because we acknowledge the fact that You know while this is gonna be more of like a party bingo where you know you don't have to play Maybe you want to be outside and join some food with friends and then kind of come in and out as you'd like Some people might want to play but also want some drinks and they don't want to lose their spots So we're gonna have volunteers that are gonna assist with that and go to tables and orders. But aside from that too, just to count for hopefully it being a sold out night and parking an overflow, we also do have the school district parking lot next door reserved to accommodate that. Okay. Regarding food and appetizers and all of that good stuff for that day, we're going to be bringing inel's catering. They are a regular provider for our lunchens and other events that we have. It's definitely a fan favorite and Abel's great to work with. We're gonna have an array of soft drinks and waters. Beer and wine will also be served by volunteers. And regarding the food that will be available, it's gonna be chicken sliders, Cuban sliders and chicken empanadas with brownies and cookies. I'm personally a big fan of the brownies. They're very soft and yummy. The ticket is going to be $35 per person, and that's just the list of everything that is included with that ticket. So we did want to make sure that we made it enticing, and you know, a lot of items that are in there. In addition to that though there will be that portion of sales where people can purchase dobers those were not included because we want to get special glow themed dobers if our providers able to get them. Just to kind of we think that that'll be like a popular thing that people want to have so we're hoping that that's a big sale for the night as well. We're going to have extra raffle tickets available, one for three dollars, two for five, and then sheet games, pool tabs, and the other late bird games will also be available for sale that night. For the entertainment that evening, we're also going to have Randy Medina there, known as DJ Get Down. He's at many of our events. He's also wonderful and great to work with. He's going to be playing a variety of family-friendly but fun music. It'll be a range from pop music, rock, and all these, but it'll be fun and we're also going to have him do a fun themed sound anytime someone yells out bingo because they won. But that is the end of my presentation. I don't know if you guys have any questions that you would like me to answer. Well first I want to say thank you for the amazing presentation and this looks like so much fun and I love it does look like it's full of fun. The flyers is wonderful as well and the food and the DJ so it looks like some fun event I can't wait to go. Any comments from the... Oh yes, through the chair. Well you have your get have volunteers help you out you're saying. Would that include us commissioners or... We would love to have your help if you're available and willing to. Yes. Well, I'm sure we'll be getting a invite out to the commissioners and provide opportunities or what the opportunities are for volunteering. Thank you. Through the chair, Sissy, you mentioned Raffle. Can you maybe mention one of your Raffle prices? Yes, so we do have assigned angels autograph that will be raffling off as well as two seeker strum tickets for a show of your choice. In addition to that, we are hoping to have a variety of on-brand items. So we're gonna have fun glow themed baskets and we're thinking of doing like a movie night package like a date night type of thing and a wide array of things. During our regular weekly bingo we do have raffle baskets during themed holidays and those are always really popular so we're hoping to do a couple of those baskets as well. I have a question. Thank you again for that presentation. This looks extremely exciting. Thank you. For the admission, do you pay at the door or do you pre-pay? So it's pre-sale tickets are available online. The goal with doing the pre-sales we're going to have a will call at the sales table where people can purchase additional items. But because we do have a hard cap at the 120 in that room, we do feel the need to do the pre-sale because what we want to avoid is someone telling their friend which we want. But then they bring five or seven more people with them and we're already sold out or we can accommodate it. So we're hoping to do sell you know, sell out in advance, which I'm pretty confident that we will. And we'll go from there. I think that it's since it's the first one, it's definitely going to be a learn as you go to a degree. So if we get any feedback where people want tickets to be available day of, maybe we'll think in advance of, you know, maybe capping at a certain amount, so we have some available day of. Thank you. Through you, Chair. Are the funds, are they going to go towards a special project, project for the senior center, or are they your mark for something, or just go into the general funds? I don't think that the funds that we generate are specifically going to be going to a specific project at the moment. But all of the funds that we do generate from in-kind donations or Casino Knight from previous years, they go back to our lunchens and being able to get those raffle baskets for Bingo or other exciting items like that too. And another popular thing that we've recently been doing, especially because now it's getting warmer. We've been having OC ice cream come out and interact with our seniors and you know giving them an ice cream on the house on our tap and they've really been enjoying it so having those funds makes that possible as well. Fun treats like that. Through to Chair. Sissy thank you so much for doing all the work for the bingo and I know it's It's going to be awesome bingo night thanks to you and I hope all of you can attend. Thank you Cissy. Planning on being there. Yes, absolutely. Thank you so much Cissy. Chair if I could please first of all CCC well done thank you very much for that presentation. If you were as she mentioned it but if you're all recall we did have to cancel our casino night this past year based on the gambling rules. And this was already in the work somewhat, if I'm not mistaken, a quarterly bingo night idea as a substitute fundraiser for the senior advisory or say this senior fund. And to your question, Chair Pro Tem Henderson, yeah, there's nothing necessarily that the money for this bingo, globe bingo night goes to directly. But one thing that was recently approved by the senior fund board was a purchase of a new front desk, that front desk, and creating a front desk space that's a little more secure for the volunteers and with some sides to it so it's not as open. And then past projects, this project hasn't happened yet but it's been approved from previous years new flooring in the Good Portia of the Senior Center. The luxury vinyl tile that looks like wood instead of the industrial carpet. So things like that, that's what's up money desk money goes to. So it doesn't go directly to or specifically to things as much as things that have been approved by the board ice cream is another thing in the birthday program in this and the kitchen and the dining room as well. So a lot of different things that the senior fund provides money for that this will go towards. But this will be this first one will be a learning process, a tricky one, just so the commission knows, and especially if you volunteer, the, and commission and akamato kind of tested this and CC Torres kind of commit and so can Vanessa Osborne, who's former supervisor at the senior center, that it's a bingo on Wednesdays can be a stressful, tense, competitive environment. And you don't dare make extra noise or if you're a caller, you better be enunciating those numbers. And this is not meant to be that. This is party bingo. I mean, we're going to be selling alcohol, having food. They will be talking going on. There will also be some people there probably who will not be happy because they won't be able to hear or they won't. And it is, you know, people want to win. That's part of the thing is why it's competitive. People want to win. That's why people do bingo. They want to win. And there's payouts and that will happen. but there will be a learning process for, especially those who are regulars in the Bingo program, but it'll be a learning process for, especially those who are regulars in the Bingo program. But it will be a challenge for staff to be able to make sure it's a fun, full of awesome environment, as opposed to a stressful, angry environment, which, unfortunately, it can be sometimes. And that's not just our senior center, Bingo Program. That's just Bingo Program. It's daytime Bingo Program. So whatever any of the commissioners can be there and add to the full of awesome vibe, that's what we're looking for. We want to have a positive, fun, engaging vibe for this event, which normally it's never going to be a problem for us, but this event, because it's going to need for this evening bingo thing. It's going to need transition. It's going to We're going to need all the positive vibes we can at that point. So thank you for your work and putting this together CC you do a great job Thank you Thank you. Thank you for having me first At this time Members of the public may submit comments and writing to address the community services commission on matters which are not on this evening's agenda. Provided the matters within the subject matter jurisdiction of the commission. Dranger, we have any. We do not. Okay. Thank you. Moving on to the consent calendar. normally combine those one and two. So we'd like a recommendation, sorry, motion to receive and file the consent calendar. I'll make a motion to receive the consent calendar for item one and two. I second the motion. Second came from Commissioner Nakamoto. Thank you. Thank you. Okay, so that motion carries. Next regular business. First up, a special event review is the Easter celebration and egg hunt and also the Viva Tustin celebration. Director Flannert, can I ask a question? I don't see the sunset market with that fall in that. We're gonna hold off on Commissioner input on sunset market till we do the whole series. Okay, great. So, if you wanted, if any commission is wanna make a comment, we would accept those comments, but we're not agendizing it until after the series is done. Perfect. Okay, so event review, Easter Celebration and AConn and Viva Testin. Any comments on those two events for the people that attended? I, can I start? Yeah, comments? Yeah. First of all, it was an amazing vote. We'll start with the Easter Celebration and AConn. It was an amazing event while start with the Easter celebration and egg hunt it was an amazing event it just seems to grow bigger and bigger every year there were a lot of activities really appreciated that I do have some feedback that I wrote down from the public and so I don't know if we if has been, I'm sure it's been addressed, but there was a lot of comments about the lines particularly for the, I would say the Bounce House, all the different activities for the children that the lines were really long, especially for parents that had children multiples, right? And it's such a big event. The only thing I could think of is maybe staggering times by age groups. So that's a suggestion. And then also having the maps with possibly a QR code, so that people would know where to go through it. Now that is such a large event, it just to kind of direct them to where all the activities are not a handout map, but a map on a frame. Yes, there were a couple, there was some, there was a map to where the, where our The the test in Parks and Rex booth was there was a couple of signs and one had a sign with that was the Order of events and then the other sign was When you could take pictures with the bunny Yeah, the map was further back in and so I'm recommending that we have multiple map signs and then a QR code to help people know what's available. Also the schedule, I think the schedule as well. So people can easily access it on their phones versus having to try and go back and forth to look at the sign multiple times. And I know people take pictures as well. So, but other than that, I mean, it was great. I love that we had so much candy. And I also love that we've included or stayed with the having extra bags available. This year they actually had pre-made bags, which I thought was fabulous as well for those children who got their late, right? So they still got their eggs. There was one other thing, but I think Commissioner Nakamoto might bring it up. So, those are all my comments, any other comments? On the Easter egg celebration and I got through the chair. To add about your maps, I was just wondering if we could have more signage with directional arrows saying age 0 to 5 this way. You know, point have the arrows pointing to the direction where the age group is. So, to show your specifically, uh, referring to the egg hunt areas. Yeah. And maybe from the front. As soon as you walk in, you have signs lined up saying, age zero to five on your right side, zero, I mean, seven to six directly behind the gate on your left side or something. I don't know how the grounds are, but maybe we can have a map saying that that the right side, the left side straight ahead or you know with arrows pointing to that area. I'll go ahead and speak. I was there. That was my as as a commissioner, that was my first time enjoying this Easter celebration. I'm so impressed with the maximum use of space within the whole testing exports park. So I did a little walk about, sorry, I'm just doing my voice. I did a little walk about and just, I didn't realize that all the activities were that expansive using the whole park so it was very impressive and I enjoyed that I did also enjoy the din that we had within our booth for you know the ones who didn't make it on time and it just put a big smile on everyone's face and it was just really nice to see. Some people, they had some recommendations like a parent was talking to Director Chad and I happened to listen in. I think they were saying the same thing about the signage, having better signage and I think Amy, Commissioner Nakamoto's suggesting with would be great, and that would kind of fit in with a directory as well. So both are those really good suggestions. I had one more suggestion from someone in the toddler Easter egg hunt group, and they were saying that maybe expand that circle a bit larger because with all the little kids, there's parents and grandparents who were clinging with that one child so it got very impacted and some of the little children are a little more aggressive and older so they were kind of you know running over the younger ones who are slower so that was just a nice suggestion I thought to expand that circle wider. Well, go. That was my first event as well. Thank you. I thought to say through the chair. You're right. Okay. Through the chair. That's a great picture. The vibe that the city group brings, the employees and the is great Everybody's happy everybody's participating everybody is very willing and connected to the people at the event Which is great. I've been to events before where there the staff is kind of disjointed where the city staff is engaged So props to your whole team It was great. That was just standing back observing, well done on their part. The event was, it flowed very nice. I agree with the signs because I walked in. One, let's go that way. I bumped into you. So yes, for sure the signs as the slow person to looking around. There's so many things to see. And like Laurie said, Commissioner Laurie said, I walked the area as well. And it was a great walk. The pinkie breakfast was a hoppin' on morning. And that was great. People walking by stacks of pinkies. That looks good. Fire track was a great add on. The kids loved having the fire track. I saw them. They went on a call and then they came right back. They came right back, like nothing happened and started passing out hats again. So that was good and they do, yeah, the candy and the booth where we were in handy to pre-pack brilliant. It was just an easy handout and then the team was filling bags when we ran out. So it went really well just from the first time I was pointing at you and it was a really, really successful event, I would say. Having no previous comparison but just walking as a first-timer, that was really well done on everyone's part. I have a question to the director. I guess. So did everyone claim who received the golden egg? Did everyone claim their prize? I do not think so. I don't remember for sure. Well I do kind of remember for sure because there was one basket that we gave to somebody who did some extra volunteering for us who did not find a golden egg. In fact, he was like a middle school student. And I think we have more, I think we purposely have more golden egg prizes than we had golden eggs just in case. So it's hard to gauge. I don't know how many were, golden eggs were not redeemed, because that's the other piece too. Usually we ask for the golden egg back from the person. I know you guys asked for the tickets back. The tickets back from the golden egg, absolutely. So they can reuse it again. So they don't pass it over to somebody else and get another basket even though, you know. but, but the ticket as well that we hope that addresses it. But I don't know for sure. Maybe another suggestion would be to number that actual ticket to the A or just number it. So you have like an inventory of how many were received. You okay? Yeah. That's good. I work with numbers all day. No, that's good. If I could, the chair, I just want to give a shout out to Jessica Castro, our Christian coordinator who did this event. This was her first large-scale event, and she and her team did, and Jessica is in charge of the Columbus Test and Recreation Center. She works out at that facility, and they did they did a great job. Very happy with what she was able to put together in her first large event. That was great. The other thing I had written down was the different times of the hunt so that people that had the little, little kids could do that one and then also the other one that they had older kids. I thought that item, I wasn't sure if they did that last year. You know, we've never done that because it's so fast. It would involve needing, well, we've, yeah, we haven't done that where we've, like, had them at different times. No, I was saying they did. They did have them at different times. They had for, oh, the little kids. Yes. Yes. Yes. You're right. Sorry. Yes. For the toddlers. Yes. Yes. We did do that. Okay. That was really, and some people came up and said thank you for doing that. The last thing, I mean, maybe you remember Amy is, was the, in speaking of the raffle baskets, I'm sorry, of the baskets for the golden eggs, they had them in the middle of the booth and then they had the kids come in and walk around to see which one they wanted to get, but it wasn't just the kids, sometimes they were bringing their whole families or you know, and it was, I don't want to say chaotic because it wasn't chaotic, but it was confined. And so now you had kids, you know, kind of walking around trying to choose their baskets and they didn't, you know, their kids, so they wanted to choose the best basket and they wanted to see what was going on in there. I'm wondering if we can move that. And I know we have it there, so it's contained. So that's secure, right? If there's room, just do another pop easy up with a table and have another, you know, kind of, with the commissioners maybe or at that table and that booth for the people that want to separate that from general information or anything else. or the kids who relate, separate it out. Okay. Right. That makes sense. Yeah. A canopy or a table just for the golden eggs, winners, and then the information booth stands alone with personality, the extra candies. Just one for that. Right it did get a little crowded in there. And because they wanted to take pictures with their baskets and things like that. I think in the past we kind of handed out the baskets to them. I didn't love shoes like that. And it seemed to be more organized. If you just handed to them. your past, we haven't always had much of a difference between the baskets. For this year, there was definitely a difference between the baskets. Right. There was larger. Yeah. In the past, they've been similar to each other. I think H. Roy's two summer more fur-cared for more younger kids. You get exactly, yeah. Through the chair, a great event. Congratulations, staff. It's like controlled chaos that day. Guys do a great job. I thought it went really smooth. It was nice this year in the booth, giving candy to everybody went smooth. We didn't have any problems with it. In the past, we've had problems with the golden egg and there was another golden egg that's similar to it We had none of that this year. So that was nice. I think in the past that the Easter egg heaven we had like Healing and balloons with the numbers. I said like like two to four something like that So you can be across the way and you can see see the Numbers We may have in years past and lightly. We've had, it's just, it doesn't say the numbers on it, it's just a balloon. It's the color of the balloon, which is fine because they identified as a space but you don't know, okay, it's a pink balloon. What does that tell me? That doesn't tell me that it's for ages seven and nine. That just tells me that's an Agon area. So doing a better job with a signage at a higher level is another thing that we've identified as in the middle, somehow in the middle of each area so that it's not just a balloon that goes up 20 feet or it's actually one big balloon a few smaller balloons but again it's a whatever color. But that doesn't really tell you what ages they are. They need to be some of the higher that tells what ages. And especially if it's in the center, that would be helpful. That'd be up off the ground at least 10 feet, to be able to be able to see from the outside. So as you are far away and you could see each of the areas, if it was 10 to 15 feet up, feet in the high, you'd be able to see oh it says seven and nine right there okay let's go right there right well through the chair maybe on the signage, you can also put the color up balloons like purple is. We did do that. So we do have signs that are, but they were on a frames. So we have the size of 79. We have an a frame with but in the chaos of this event Do you really see I do this all the time? I miss signs and they're right in front of me I think it's not up higher than I can see it and not had enough and yeah and so we would do that coordination of the color But I don't think people pick up on that So I think we do a better about identify or getting that information up higher so people could see it better. And then as well as the directional signs. Yeah. So it's the direction. that. So I think we do better about identifying or getting that information up higher so people can see it better. And then as well as the directional signs. So if the directional signs on your way out that it, you know, I could picture something that said like arrows seven and nine this way, you know, whatever the other ages are, four to six this way. And you know, zero to three, straight, something like that. That's it. I mean, I'm just okay. The next event is a Viva Tustin, which was on Friday, May 2. I also attended that event as well. I loved everything. I think there was an Erkigenings rate.icka Jennings, yes. Just the colors and the kind of this really cool spring vibe, the entertainment. Just front-air park is a really nice place to have it. I thought it was great event, and it was fun. I did have a question about the food trucks. I think there were all of the resucibi. I think when we initially talked about it at the meeting, there were going to be some different ones. And then I think there was only maybe one or two. I or someone council at least one or two Which is always part of the challenge with food trucks a little bit if they have a better offer You know they'll take it Business so I don't know I don't remember the tale of I think one was a no show That was gonna be a new one another one said can't make it. It was a really fun well put together event. And I really enjoyed it. Any comments, commissioners? Yeah, through the chair, that was a great event. Beautiful day. Yeah, well, the decorations around the park were amazing. You knew there was an event happen there. So it felt like the Viva Tustin. Those kids, the Mariahatchy kids. I turned around and I thought those were adults. I turned around and they thought those are kids, no way. So the entertainment, X, testing. Those kids, the mariachi kids, I turned around, I thought those were adults, I turned around, they thought those are kids, no way. So the entertainment, echoing commissioners, chairs, it was incredible, it was really good. High quality, it was a good event. Like the people started to put their chairs out in front of it, it was like a concert style. I think that's when you got a really good event, is when people are parking chairs and hanging out. It creates a really nice event. So well done by the staff again. Again, very engaging. They're all engaged doing something with somebody, which is I think what's making these last two events really good from my perspective engagement. Through the chair. Great event again. It's improving every year. It seems like it can get bigger and bigger. I enjoyed it, the colors and all that. The food was pretty good. Who's doing the nachos that we were really good those nachos we were having? Those were staff and volunteers. Those were great. Lucia Alvarado, who works from Desk at the Tussent Family Youth Center. She was, I feel the lead in the little cafe. I had some of those nachos myself. I didn't enjoy them. Yeah, maybe advertise those a little bit more. Other than that, I don't know what you can do about it, but if we didn't have VIP parking, I probably couldn't have found a parking place there. I drove around and there's just no place to park, but I don't know what you can do about that. You know that part of the thing with that program and where it is is it's one bringing an event to Southwest Tussum, which is predominantly Latino community. And getting it to the community where they can walk if need be is very important. Not everybody has multiple cars in the family or family members working and not able to come so the other members of the family can come. So we found that the, yes, people come from outside the area and drive there. That does for sure happen. But a lot of the community does walk. And so having it within the community is more important than moving it to a larger location with more parking. Because it's more likely that tenants will be there even if they have to walk. And then driving somewhere that maybe they're not as comfortable with. The community isn't comfortable with. You really, for one, and again, like you mentioned, a chairperson, Erica Jennings, rebranded our, our Synchro-Mio event to make it, and that'll be Viva Tusson moving forward. We won't have to worry about that it's on 5th May or not, but it'll grow in terms of the celebration of the Hispanic culture and incorporating those kind of elements. And at some point, if it gets so big, and we need to move someplace else, we would consider that. And we're close to that now. I don't think we're there yet, but I think we're close to it. But I think it'll be important to keep it an accessible location, which is what Frontier does for us at this point. And maybe you can bus people from CT. That's it. Shaddling people could be on the head. That's a good idea. That's a good idea. Through the chair, I thought it was a very colorful and relaxing event compared to the Easter acre. That's very relaxing. Thank you. Any other commissioner comments? Yeah, I was unable to attend, but how do I know they were going to be not chose? It made more effort. It was good. Now you know. Is this an expensive file or do I need to make a motion for? It's a, I think we need to, you mean to make up the music, the emotion to, yes, to receive commissioner input on those events, to incorporate for future years. Okay. I'd like to make a motion to receive the commissioner comments on this event, on the, for the Easter A celebration, ACon and Viva Teston. So, second. So, somebody has to make a motion. Oh, I make a motion. Second. Second. Okay. Okay, motion carries. Okay, next up is a summary event participation. Community Services Commission's strategic priorities include increase in the presence of the commission and the community. Furtherance of this priority, the commission is invited to participate in contres in the park. Moves in the park and Fourth of July celebration. I can cover this one. I can take this one a little bit. Okay. So I'll talk more later about summer events, but there are three events historically. Well, the first two that we actually have, the commissioners, help out with, and that is the summer concerts in the park, and movies in the park. The first two are on here. You see the dates for both are on here. The concert's going July 11th through July 30th. So, June 11th to July 30th. And the movies, rotating parks, and we're running June 27th through August 1st. And as you see in the staff report, at both these events, the tradition is for the commissioners to wear their commissioner shirts and to be involved in our information booth, to be interacting with the public, as well as distributing, we do swag every summer. This year will be the full of awesome theme. So passing that out, just being there to represent the department and the city, maybe gathering input from the public, maybe just enjoying the community event. And so we do invite the commissioners to attend. We'd love to know in advance which commissioners will be there because we don't expect commissioners to be at every single concert and every single movie. You do have personal lives and that's okay. We're okay with that. We're not looking to rule your your downtime. But if the commissioners are able to take or to attend some of them, we we definitely would take that RSVP tonight or you can follow up with an email to Katrina on that. But whatever you can help out with on those two events. And then the third event for summer-wise that we invite you to participate in is the 4th of July. This one, there's a VIP area for those who have attended before. We have a VIP area that's kind of front row for the fireworks. This is one of the few, we have a few events where there is, this is the true VIP area that you actually have better seating than the general public. You have a better seating plus we have chairs there, we have food there, we have desserts there, we have little games for the kids. It's a lot of city, powers that be, you know, mayor council members, commissioners like yourselves, volunteers, friends of the department, past pass mayors all different sorts of people and people bring their families and To enjoy that event so we do invite you to that as well That one we we again appreciate an RSVP we'd like to know how many people are coming so we can plan on it But yeah, that's our summer events that we want to have you guys be a part of and Again, if you can RSVP or let us know tonight you're gonna be there But if you can't commit tonight and you want to check your schedule get back to us that is acceptable Thank you, chair, please Motion as well or receiveers on the commissioners on the commissioners I'd like to first if you could open it up to the other commissioners on anybody if we can get any commitment tonight then Katrina will take note of that. Okay. Anyone know if they'll be able to tonight about their summer purchases? There's a chair on the Katrina know which vents I'll be able to attend. There's a lot of them there. Also, we'll let you know. Again, RSVP for the 4th of July for sure. That one, there'll be a separate invitation. There'll go out for that one. It hasn't gone out yet. Any other commissioners? I know I could, I will attend all but one concert in the park due to vacation. It's the one in June. So I'll be at all of them except for June. June, you need to date right? 18th. Okay. I'll have to check schedule for myself. Oh Katrina I I'm sorry through the chair Katrina for sure I cannot make the June 18th. Yeah we're going to be. It must be Hawaii because that's where commission not gonna come out always goes why so I'm going to click up which is uh you go to the last good oh I'm going to call up the question. I'm going to call up the question. I'm going to call up the question. I'm going to call up the question. I'm going to call up the question. I'm going to call up the question. I'm going to call up the question. I'm going to call up the question. I'm going to call up the question. I'm going to call up the question. I'm going to call up the question. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. So, are there any other comments? So, we're going to make a motion to accept the commission participation in the summer events. I'll make a motion to accept the summer events participation in three events we mentioned. I'll second. All right, motion carries. Next is oh my favorite recognition of no recognition recognition of July as parks make life better month and Director Clanton. Yeah, I know it well. I was, I know in the past, this has been something that we've done. And we've highlighted at our events. So I was just going to ask you if you want to share a little more about that. Yeah, yeah. So July is a Park to Make Life Better Month. And you said, just be that July was Parks and Recreation Month, but then ever since the California Parks and Recreation society created the Parks Mike Life better branding. Now it's Park, nationwide July as Parks and Recreation Month. California, because of the PMLB for those who are, if you know, you know, for the PMLB branding, it's July as Parks make life better month. And so historically, we've had the commissioners, last couple of years that we've done this way, we've had the commissioners make an announcement to that effect at one of the first two concerts and then one of the first two movies. And that announcement is just getting up in front of the crowd and staff supply or we provide the talking points about what the benefits of parks and recreation, the benefits of activities, the benefits of getting outside, spending time with your family. So we give you the content, we actually get the content from the California Parks and Recreation Society and just letting people know about that. So and then usually we have a few items that are specific to Parks, Make, Like, Better. We always do themed swag every summer. Some of it is Parks, Make, Like, Better. This summer, other swag will be the full of awesome theme or brand. And so that's what we've done in the last few years. And that would be options on the bullets for under discussion. The second, third and fourth bullets is what we've done historically. Now, the first bullet is that's something that we haven't done for a few years. But every year there is a proclamation, which was attached to a recent proclamation was attached. You see it's 2022, and it's a city council does proclamations at their meetings on a pretty, really, really, a lot of different proclamations. We actually did a proclamation for Donna Marsh- when she was leaving the commission because of her years of service from the proclamation for her. So at the beginning of the city council meeting, we'll do a city council will do proclamations. And so we can get on their calendar to have a proclamation declaring July as Park's Maclight better month. It would just require the commissioner, commissioners, a commissioner to come and again say a few talking points that the staff can provide at the City Council meeting. If that's something that and then have a proclamation made and they frame it up, it looks all nice and stuff. So that's an option if the commission were to want to do that. I mean, it's, it looks all nice and stuff. So that's an option if the commission will order, I wanna do that. I mean, it's obviously, it's more significant if all of the commissioners can be there or if the majority of the commissioners can be there. The difference from what's in the SAP report to what I'll add today is I did get a wind of the fact that it's looking like there will not be a July 1st City Council meeting, the City Council is looking at their schedule, and it's likely that that meeting will be Council so there will only be a July 15th meeting. So really this if the Commission want to go with that first bullet option as something this month, Commission may not. Commission may want to do what you've done in previous years. Staff would just recommend that you do something to recognize July is parks make life better month, not just to say no thanks, nothing. We would prefer to do something, but if you do that first bullet, it would be the July 15th meeting. There wouldn't be one on July 1st. Yeah, I think that's the extent of it. I would just turn it back over to you, Chairperson, to discuss with your commission. Okay. Well, I would like, I wanna open this up for discussion. I like the idea of attending the City Council meeting and to do the proclamation. I remember doing that before. I thought that was really nice. I think also, really nice. I think that's really nice. I think that's really nice. I think that's really nice. I think that's really nice. I think that's really nice. I think that's really nice. I think that's really nice. I think that's really nice. I think that's really nice. I think that's really nice. I think that's really nice. I think the idea through the chair, also city council meeting, probably the council refers, so probably the 15th. And then we should do something at one of the concerts in the park, so I would say July the 9th, just because July 2nd is so close to the the fourth, and people will be on vacation and stuff. And then the movies in the pocket, I think we did movies in the park last few years. Yeah, you did, I think so. So that would be a good idea to do that. And then just have the brand giveaways at all the events other than the council meeting, I guess. So it would be the Frisbees and things like that. I the first or the would the first per be preferable but if if well the first probably are good canceling it can't get cancelled. Okay. So would every would the 15th of be good. Would all of the commissioners be able to make the July 15th? Yeah. Almost. Yes, council meeting 6 PM. OK. Council meeting starts at 6 PM and that portion will be done by 6 15 6 20. It's it's early in the meeting. And then for you were saying for concerts in the park July 9th and then for movies in the park Me usually does the movies in the park right? Park as well. Yeah, so maybe what you guys I think I did the one I do think I did movies in the park last year last couple of years and that was at Which park was that? I can't remember we could do side on the dates later just maybe a couple of events, right? As long as they're in July. Yeah, long as they're in July. Okay. Do you need the date tonight for the movies or would you like for us to? We should probably commit so we can let the person who's in charge of the event know. Okay, well then, looking- What's our date for the movies? Well June 27th is the same as the bingo and I, is that correct? It is, yes, that there is a conflict between those two events, yes. Okay, wait, this is for the lies, am I saying? Okay, so for June, July, do we want to do it the same week as we do the concerts in the park? So that would be July 11th at Peppertree. Which might be kind of fun. I would break it up a little bit. Oh, okay. It's up to you guys. Make it easier for everybody to attend, you just spread it out a little bit. Oh, Cedar Grove was when I did that last year. I met a Cedar Grove. Yeah, and that, so maybe that one is on July 25th. And then Commissioner Nakamoto, will you be back in town? Yeah. Okay. In July? Yeah. So July 25th maybe? Yeah, that'd be good. Yeah. I have that's what the commission wants to do. We're going to put the slide movies. Movies. So not July 11, but July 20. No, we're looking at July 25th for the movies in the park. This is it's the splire right here. Okay. It's up on we put it up on the screen now. Look at the bullet where it said. It's a good movie. First up. Yeah, staff is recommending earlier in July just because you know, that's usually when you want to do it. But that doesn't have to be. I mean, we're gonna do the 18th. Are you out of town on the 18th? Amy, what? You out of town on the 18th? Oh, what July? No. Okay July 18th. What about? That's it front to your park. Uh-huh. Sure. Okay. July 18th. What about? That's at frontier park. Uh-huh. Sure. Okay. That's what the commission. So chooses. If you want it earlier, I could do July 9th or July 11. I think we're saying it's so close to the it's the same week as. Concerts in the park. So. It is the same location I feel like some of the attendees might be it's not the same attendees Yeah, you definitely even though it's the same park. You're getting different attendees for sure So having it the same week doesn't really matter. Yeah I guess it's just a matter of how many commissioners you want to attend the event. Right. I mean it only takes one to do up in front of the crowd and make the announcements so doesn't need to be. I think staff's preference would be if all the five commissions were to attend something you would be that city council meeting. That would be more important for all five to go. For these for the concerts and for the movies's can be whoever you just got to be able to be comfortable on a microphone in front of a crowd There are more people there's a lot more people at concerts than there are at the movies You know concerts in the park is could be upwards of a thousand movies in the park, you know 250 maybe right Well, if we have much for July 11, that could attend for sure. Then initially when I said July 11, I was thinking, you know, Peppertree Park, it's, it's a good location. It's, I mean, it is at the same spot as a concert, but, um, That's a good point. You know, there might be something to be said for going down a frontier park. Uh-huh. To not do it at the same location. It's a different crowd, but still. Spread... That's why we move movies around is that we don't put movies all at the same place to spread around the, be, you know, more impactful. So... And it is a different... having been to Frontier Park movies in the park as well and just all of them it is a different, um, having been to Frontier Park for movies in the park as well. And just all of them it is a different crowd. It is for sure. It's a neighborhood event like people don't necessarily go to all five. Right. We don't know the one at their neighborhood a lot of times. And there's who there's there's usually pretty big crowd at Frontier Park. I think so. as well as Cedar Grove and Pepper Trees. So what are we split between the 11th and the 18th? Or we can just open it up and commissioners can go to anyone they want to go to. Because there's five of them and we'd have more coverage at the different events. That's a great point. Chair pro-tem because yeah we'll have the talking points available. It's not like we're only going to bring them on. We can have available for any so we could you could do something in every movie if there was a commission or there. I like that idea. Thank you. I like that idea also. You're welcome. Well done, sir. Well done. Okay. I got to leave. Okay. Okay. Well then, I'm going to make a motion that we recognize July as parks make life better month. I'll go ahead and second that. Well, but you got to give us the details on which of the things you talk through it all, but we'll need to list the items that you're putting. The patient motion that we recognize July as parks makes life better month and that the commissioners will attend the July 15th City Council, Tussin City Council meeting to further proclamation and also attend the July 9th concert in the park and then a movies in the park in the month of July at the commissioners discretion. Or the commissioners will try to cover all the movies in the park. I'm going to cancel that. Can I cancel that motion and then start over? Yeah. Okay. I'm going to make a motion that we recognize Recogn recognize July as parks makes likes better month and that we attend events as commissioners. Can I make that motion? You want to add the, we want to add the, we're going to go to the council meeting on the 15th. Add that in there. Recend the previous motion and make another. I think you were the first room. Okay. You were right. It's July, it's July 15th City Council meeting with the Proclamation, the July 9th Conference in the Park and Peppertree Park. Right. Yep. And then all of the three of the movies in the park during the month of July Which whichever Is able to attend five Only three in July Chirpour Tim's since, because I had the original and it was fine. And he said something. He's very off. Yeah. Sorry to interrupt you up. I apologize for being out of order at the commissioner meeting. I'm going to make a motion that the commissioners recognize July as parks make life better month and attend the July 15th City Council meeting to recognize through proclamation and also the July 9th concert in the parks and then the three movies in the parks at least one commissioner attend this. Second. Yeah. All in favor? Hi. Hi. Emotion carries. Thank you for your patience, Director Clanton and commissioners. Next up, the Commissioner Park visit assignments. Commissioner Park visit assignments will select different purposes of providing input on the conditions, activities of test and parks to the community services commission staff, Director Clanton, at this time, do we want to talk about the assignments or do we want to do the selection to select and approve the park visit assignments for the 2025, 2026 fiscal years? Is this the time that we're gonna do that? This time we're gonna do that. So if you look at the screen, we needed that. Katrina has put this together and has identified, this is our map of the city parks. Now, there's more parks up there than you're going to be dividing up. But each commissioner will need to choose three to four parks. And the, because based on the number of parks available, so how you do that, chairperson is up to you if you want to have the commissioners do a draft, where you start with one in and do a draft and pick a park and then go back and forth, you can do that, or you could let each commissioner, you know, choose their top two, three, four parks. However you wanna do it, but in the end of the day, we would want most of our parks chosen now. On here, you'll notice a couple things on the list of parks. Number three is bark barracks. That would be lumped in with Tess and Augusty Park. So we wouldn't want someone to have Bark Barracks and someone else to have Tess and Augusty Park. They would just take Tess and Augusty Park, which would include the Bark Barracks. And that would need to be someone who's dog friendly. Then the other thing I will say is Ron Full Park, number 21. That is in Greenwood neighborhood. Neighborhood, that is a public park, but it's maintained by a private, by the association. So we wouldn't, you wouldn't go to that. We wouldn't choose that park. Same for Montgomery Square Park and Columbus Teston Park. No, not Columbus Teston. Montgomery Square, there Cumbus, not Cumbus, not Cumbus, not Cumbus, not Cumbus, not Cumbus, not Cumbus, not Cumbus, not Cumbus, not Cumbus, not Cumbus, not Cumbus, not Cumbus, not Cumbus, not Cumbus, not Cumbus, not Cumbus, There's one more. Columbus Grove. So number nine and 17, you will also not choose. Because the same thing, those are public parks, but they are operated by the association. So we don't need to visit those. The others are all public parks that we want to divide up. So that said, I'll just throw that back to you, Chairperson, to lead the discussion of plugging, getting everybody again, it'll be most of you will have four parks, but I think a couple of how I have three. I think it would be helpful to just review the current. So right now I have Camino Rial, Centennial and Testines Bords Park, Chair, Pro Tem, Henderson, Citrus Ranch, Laura Glenn, Magnolia Tree, McFadden, Pasadena, Commissioner Nakamoto,, the Alibaba, the Alibaba, the Alibaba, the Alibaba, the Alibaba, the Alibaba, the Alibaba, the Alibaba, the Alibaba, the Alibaba, the Alibaba, the Alibaba, the Alibaba, the Alibaba, that way. Yeah. And then frontier veterans, sports park, and victory park. Also vacant Cedar Grove Heritage and Pioneer Road. So I'll open it up for the commissioners. I'm going to just go ahead and start with Commissioner Nakamoto. I have Columbus testing pepper tree andertree and Pine Tree. Is it possible that I can keep my three parks? That's where you guys stop. Figure out, that's where you guys stop. It's okay with me. It's fine with me. I don't know if it's fine with me. Okay, okay. So, Katrina, Commissioner Nakamoto is going to have Columbus Testin, Peppertree and Pine Tree. Thank you. I also would like to keep Camino Real Centennial Testin Sports, but I also like to, or swap with Testin Sports Park with Veteran Sports Park. That's not one that I've get a vote for the other members. I'm not sure if I can get a vote for the other members. I'm not sure if I can get a vote for the other members. I'm not sure if I can get a vote for the other members. I'm not sure if I can get a vote for the other members. I'm not sure if I can get a vote for the other members. I'm not sure if I can get a to I'm not sure if I can do it. I'm not sure if I can do it. I'm not sure if I can do it. I'm not sure if I can do it. I'm not sure if I can do it. I'm not sure if I can do it. I'm not sure if I can do it. I'm not sure if I can do it. I'm not sure if I can do it. to keep citrus ranch and lural glim, but I like to drop a Magnolia tree and make fat and Pasadena as possible. I'm gonna add it one more, maybe. I can add another park after people have chosen parks. I'll just start off withacks at Legacy, Test and Legacy. Did someone already... It's like Pepetry, yes. So many choices. How about Cedar Grove? Was that one taken? No, that one's vacant. Okay, so Cedar Grove is the second one and then there. That's me. Centennial Park. Is there El Camino? I can make sure she's more... Wait, is there can see the room. I can see the room. I can see the room. I can see the room. I can see the room. I can see the room. I can see the room. I can see the room. I can seein Sports Park. That one is the one that you're OK. I'll test and sports. Yeah, OK. I'll pick that one up. Is that four? Three. We have your barks, bear, exceeded a group of in Tustin Sports. Heritage is taken. No. Heritage. I just fake it. Heritage. Heritage. Here. Here. Here. Here. Here. Here. Here. Here. Here. Here. Here. Here. Here. Here. Here. Here. Here. Here. Here. Here. Here.ier you said was open. Frontier is yes. Okay I'll take that. According to my circles and the checks here is veterans to somebody pick up veterans. I was asking you to do with the sports park. Okay. Take that one. I'm showing Frontier Victory Alley Grove and then Commissioner Henderson, you gave back a couple. Yeah, McFadden is a very small park with McFadden Pasadena and Magnolietri. I can probably pick up McFadden Pasadena. That's it. Yeah. He said McDolly trees open. That's an easy one for you. I'll pick that up. That's only two. What else is open, Miss Cigini? Looks like Ali Groves. Ali Groves taken. Oh, Ali Groves taken. He took it already. Oh, did he take it already? I took it. Oh, Ali Verstake. You took it already. Conveneery out, it's free. Okay, you know what? I would say convenery out. It's close to me, so it's all that. All right. All right. You can see the view is taken. You can see the interest branch. It's pine tree? Yeah, pine tree, okay. So we have alley growth. We have our barnal centers out. Frontier veterans. pioneer road Yeah, that's what I have left this pioneer road If Amy Amy did, if Commissioner Nakamoto doesn't want that, I could take that part. To him? Pioneer. Oh, no, you can have that. Mm-hmm. There's a very popular part of the couple. Do you think, as you did that, does that look like it's seen? There were going to be three of you with four and two of you with three. So that checks. Okay. 22. 22 parts. There one missing. So it's okay. Yeah, I think that's right. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Anyone want to trade? We good? Good. Is anyone ticked to the communal real park? Yeah. Okay. That's a good idea. Communion real. And you'll Katrina you'll send these out. Right. I might I have just scratches all over the building. Yeah, they'll be. Mm-hmm. Uh-huh. Well, as well. Okay. It's a motion. Consulate make a motion to approve the Commissioner assignments for 2025 Commissioner Park assignments for 2025-2026? I motion to approve the parks for 2526. I second. All in favor? All right. All right. Next up are the Community Services Commission liaison assignments. So this one we take a look at the liaison assignments and discuss and approve our assignments for the 2526. Currently, you can see the liaison assignments as Commissioner Wes and Chairperson, myself in speaking about myself and third party. Third person is crazy. It's crazy. Test and Community Foundation, which I have resigned from the Test and Community Foundation. So that one, that liaison assignment is open. Pro Tem Henderson is currently liaison for the economic development. Commissioner Nakamoto, senior advisory board. Vacant are community outreach and special events. If I would like to. looking at it, I can get the leaves on it, I was looking at it. I think I feel like he's on. I forgot. Which one is the one that works with Carl Halele? Special events. Special events. Okay, so I am fine with either community outreach or special events now that I'm no longer on the testing community foundation. Board but we will need someone to lease with the testing community foundation. So with that, I'll open it up for preferences for the liaison assignments. The chair if I could just as a just point of clarification for the new commissioners that this the liaison assignment doesn't necessarily mean that you have to attend all meetings of whoever the group is your liaisoning with, but being able to have a point of connection to whoever you don't, for instance, the Tess and Community Foundation. They have a lot of different meetings, a lot of different committees, a lot of different moving parts. However, if you can make a, we would broker this, if need be, a connection with Aaron Neelson, there's a lot of information information flow from her and that would be what you can then report at this meeting. So again, it's not attending all the meetings per se, same thing with public, the special events committees, both tiller days and the street fair and chilly cookoff, they have planning meetings leading up to the events, but those planning meetings are usually like at four o'clock on Wednesdays or Thursdays. You may or may and you're not able to tend all those. If you can attend a couple great, but if you can then have a connection with either Garrison for... those plumbing meetings are usually like at four o'clock on Wednesdays or Thursdays. You may or may not be able to attend all those. If you can attend a couple great, but if you can then have a connection with either Garrison for chili cookoff and Carl for Chiller Days, to give you an update on what the latest is, that's what you then would bring back to the commission, to let the commission, why do commission know what's going on? The community outreach is the one that is the one about, you kind of, it's what you make of it, because it's about more outreach at that point. So just for clarification again. Thank you. Thank you, Director Cohn. Well, through to Chair, I want my economic development unless somebody else wants it. I would give it up but no one else wants to keep it. Okay. Okay. Thank you. Well, and to the chair, we're doing a primary and a Secondary. Oh, secondary. I wouldn't mind being secondary for that. Okay. Unless anybody else wants to thank you for the thank you for the thank you for the thank you for the thank you for the thank you for the you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. And the alternate would be maybe the testing community center. So thank you. Thank you. Through the chair, I want my senior advisory board to the second jury. Okay. Thank you. Tissue you don't show up. I'll be there. Effectively resigned from the Tusson Community Foundation. Was your number one special events? It was. Okay. No special events. I wonder which I should spell my name. You didn't put her name in yet. There you go. Then would you be able to second? Okay. Okay. Are we okay with this? Okay. Would someone like to make a motion to approve the 2025-2026 liaison assignments? I'll make a motion to accept the commission liaison assignments for 2025 the way they're agreed on. All in favor? Aye. Okay. That motion carries. And now we are at the director's report. So director, Planton? Yes. Take it away. Oh, I have so much for you tonight. Okay. Let me. Thank you. So I'm going to start with summer events, which starts actually with the event that was last week. We actually did kick off as several of you were there for the sunset market. Started last Thursday, May 15th. That will be running for the next five week or next four weeks now. Great start of the event and Vanessa Osborne is in charge of it. Marilyn Bussier is the one who started it, but for the sake of everyone's knowledge, this is an event created to follow through on councils, wishes to be able to have more Old Town Street closure events. And so this is one of the ways we've done that. There was also someone, it just happened to be that someone also came to counsel to ask for an evening farmers market. This was over a year ago now. And so it kind of, it's like, hey, that could be two birds, one stone, a street closure event, and add a farmer's market. So we team with the Orange County Farm Bureau. You can see there on the flyer and a few other partners, including Dreamers Market, they bring several vendors in and then testing Community Foundation, Orange County and the libraries is there. And yeah, it's it's started strong it's a great event we've got a great chill vibe as the kids say actually the kids don't say that but I do it was a you guys for those of you who are there either last year or this one last week it's just a good community feeling on that so very happy way with the way that one started. And then next Monday, or this coming Monday, Memorial Day, the flyer in the packet may say 11 a.m., that's incorrect, it's 9 a.m. And this is Memorial Day is a more somber event. And it's a ceremony, it's some speakers. It's some speakers. We actually have two of the commissioners, Commissioner Lefoevar and Chairperson Wesson rereading some names of Tustin residents who gave their lives in service of our country, as well as names of new pavers added to the Veterans Memorial area. And so that one should be just an hour on Memorial Day morning. So, but if you're in attendance, we will recognize you to wave and say how to people. But that's an event that's over, quick in the day. And look at this, June 1st, it's already almost there. Street Feran cook off. This is coming up in Old Town Tustin, one of our signature events in Tustin. So I know that invite went out, so let us know if you're going to attend. There is a VIP area behind the stage. This is the other event where there is a legitimate VIP area for commissioners and elected officials and so forth behind the stage. At Peppetry Park, there's beer wine. There's what's the chicken? What's the chicken? Cain's. There's canes. That's there. Also, usually, Deputy Director of Buccher and I are usually in the VIP area. And we usually have beer and chili tickets. If you want to bring your families, bring your friends to enjoy the chili and beer at the event. Also, a lot of times after the judging is done, the chili then comes over to the VIP area. So there's chili available to taste. But yeah, you're welcome to attend. We'd love to see out there for that. Concert to Park, we talked about this. We've already said that it's flyer, but the date's Stephanie Finn is in charge of this event. She does a great job with her concerts. The June 11th concert, there will actually be at the beginning of it. There will be the American Legion will be there. And they will be doing a recognition of this being the 250th anniversary of the United States military, especially the Army, I believe. And so they'll be doing a quick little presentation on that at the beginning of that concert. Two weeks or a week and a half, I guess. We have Tessence Talent Show, Stephanie Fendez, this event as well. In fact, the winner of this Tessence Talent Show actually will have the opportunity to sing at an intermission of one of the concerts and assuming they're a singer. But anyway, this is a youth talent show. It's about a dozen acts, mostly individuals who sing, usually it's singer dance, but usually saying, and we at the Tuscan Community Center at the Marketplace, where there's a theater, and we do have ticket sales for this, and there are refreshments, but it's all like movie theater type refreshments, and if you can make it, it's usually, I feel like Commissioner Nakamoto has attended a time or two for this event. But we get some talented kids. Pretty impressive. Bingo Knight, we talked about this with CC Torres. She gave you a good loadout on this event. So we'd love to see at this event either attending and playing Bingo, which if that's the case, be nice, or volunteering and helping us make sure we're not so nice. Fourth of July, it's again a legitimate VIP area where you're actually close to the action, watching the fireworks show, food, and so again, let us know if you're interested in this. We'll get it in about out soon, and then you'll be able to RSVP, and and then again, move in the park. So this is our time. This is our year. You know, this is when we're our year. This is when we're we it's hard to keep track of everything we have going on. And with all these events that you just saw, there's a lot and you add to that. The next item, which is going to be right in the middle of the the summer two, the ground opening for a centennial park. So this is finally being completed. It's been a year about that it's been under construction. I have a few slides. I have a couple photos that we're taking today or yesterday. And but we're excited to open this park. And it's the neighborhood, Tess and Meadows can't wait for it to be open. We do a little ceremony, we cut a ribbon. We've done a few of these over the last few years and I think we'll get good attendance at this one. I think people definitely want to see this one. The way it works, if you've been by this park, there's fencing all the way around it and this park has the different arms and it's It's a lot too, and it's not just a square box and it's easy to put a fence around. It's been difficult to secure this park. The neighbors get into the park a lot. They have, we get calls on, oh, you left open the fence. It's rare that we leave or our contact will leave the fence open. The neighbors are all sneaking into the park to see it. It's just so, it's so many different entry points and you can't put fencing around it to where you were to make to eliminate all the chances of getting in So people do sneak in it is what it is But so and I take it in a positive way like they just want to see their part They just want to experience it. They haven't had it for close to a year So let's you know, we want to get them in there. So that's coming up soon. The fences will all come down actually that morning. So we'll do an event that evening, June 30th at 6 p.m. But people will already be in the park. So I don't want to miss conceptions. It won't be like a horde of people and we're cutting a ribbon and then people's rushing in. People have already been the park. It's a ceremony of going through and cutting the ribbon. So that will be doing it at that event. But again, we'd love to have you there. I recognize you as our commissioners. This commission did choose the playground equipment in the middle of the park. And you actually, we're going to have a new, the next playground remodel coming up soon that the commission will have a similar. And that'll be coming in a real park. That's coming soon. But anyway, this is the opening for Centennial. And speaking of Centennial, here's some photos that were taken yesterday. That concrete turtle in the upper middle, that was a significant save there that we were able to save that turtle. That is a 50 year old turtle. That's original to the park. We are keeping it within a landscaped area because it's no longer suitable as a playground piece. It is not playground safety compliant because it's too tall. If you fell from it, even though you can tell, if somebody fell from that, they probably would be fine, but because of the height and the closeness to the perimeter of the concrete area around it, technically that's not playground safety compliant. So this is not a playground. I'm just saying that right now, there's not a playground. It is a landscape piece is what it is now. Well, kids jump around on it? Yes Yes. Well kids sit on it? Yes. We know that will happen, but it is not a playground. Because if it's a playground then it's non-compliant. But again it's not a playground. So I don't I please I don't want to see any of the commissioners jumping around it. I promise. But where I started open this park in the photo on the left you see in the background that's the mural that was painted on the Hanball wall that was done through a community design process. And then also you see a bunch of picnic tables in that photo, those have been moved from the picnic area, they're gonna move back, but we're reconfiguring the picnic area. Also, they are all sitting currently on a basketball court. The basketball court will be resurfaced. That's still to be done. But all the grass is in. You see some dry spots in some of the grass, and the beautiful green grass, but then you see some yellow spots. Anywhere that is yellow, if the contractor can't bring that green back, they will be required to take out that green spot and put sod into replace it. So they're on the hook for that. We're in what's called establishment period. So for 90 days after they plant the grass, the contractors on the hook for making sure the plants and grass thrive that they take root and they grow. So if they don't, the contractor then has to replace them as part of their contract. So that's Layus on Centennial Park, CIP, Test and Sports Park, Ball Field 3. This is a removing replace of the turf and irrigation on Field 3. You see identified there at Test and Sports Park. We've had some issues with the plans, but we think we're past this now. Deputy Director of Research is working hard on getting this one. It is out to bid right now. We've had to extend the bid deadline a little bit, but we're looking to close bids probably in June to be able to then get the award of bid for this project in July. And then the work idea on the work is the work would take place in the fall to then make sure this would be our window to make sure that we have we are we have good growth and and we're able to close off a field to use sports. That's our window is fall to winter and so that's why we want to make sure that we wouldn't want to do this project in the summer is because the need for ball fields for and spring or summer because of softball baseball on those in those seasons. And then I think I mentioned this in the past, we had to remove, this is Columbus Tustin, this is the south side of the building facing the playground area. And so we had to room in a photo on the left. You can see there used to be a wood trellis that went from the building on the left to the columns and the header on the right. So that had to be removed because there was a lot of dry rot and termite damage. So for the summer we are putting a temporary, because this is where our day camp is, or summer day camp for the summer, we're putting a temporary tent there, like a long canvas white tent there. So we have shade for the kids. Long term, what you see there on the right, this is a, these are their preliminary plans through icon. icon is the same company that the shelter, the picnic shelter at this location. It's an icon picnic shelter. So this will be similar in, in a look, will be a metal roof that will go from again from the building on the left in the photo to the to the columns on the right Using the existing columns and existing building. So really it'll be the actual shade piece Before what was there was wood and it was more of a trellis and that was it wasn't solid now we'll have a solid roof in this area so it's an upgrade it's an upgrade that was necessitated by an unsafe condition with the dry rot that was in the wood that was there before but we won't have that problem now because it won't be wood anymore but that one that project will start after the summer ends so that we didn't want to disrupt the day camp program so we were going to push that off till the fall. And this was tonight we invited so we had that mural at the temporary shelter down off of Branca and Tess and Unified School District students designed and painted a mural on the lockers that are out the shelter, where the residents of the shelter kept keep their personal items. And so we did at the Public Art Commission meeting prior to this one. This is why that meeting took longer. Is we recognize the kids who were involved in the process, who designed and painted the mural, as well as their teacher. Her name is Isabel Gray, and she was phenomenal in getting this project together and the design. She took designs from students, and then that were approved by the Public Art Commission, and put them together in one sort of unified whole that span various banks of lockers around the perimeter of the inside of the shelter. So again, Isabelle Gray, she is a love or title. She is a Vapa Tosa. Vapa is visual and performing arts. Tosa is a teacher on special assignment. So she's specific to the arts program. I think she also teaches ceramics. But she's phenomenal, very creative, very collaborative, very friendly, just great partner. And so partnering with her at the testing-and-fired school district, as well as the, I'm sorry, who runs the shelter? The rescue mission. The rescue mission is the partner because they run that shelter. They operate that shelter. So they also were part of the partnership of getting this project done. Then I think, oh yeah. And then this is the latest public art project for the new commissioners. So the public art commission, they are independent of this commission. but we let this commission know about what they have going on, any upcoming projects, anything they've either have coming up soon or have finished. In this case, they have purchased a sculpture by artist Seth Johnson to install at one of the side entries at the Centennial Park near a playground area. And so that will be installed with, think at this point, it'll be installed prior to the opening. So there will be not only that wall, that handball wall with a mural on it, but then this sculpture, which you can kind of indicate the image on the far right, it's like wings kind of, it's tall, and you see what color is, and this general scope and size based on the fact that it's in the back of the truck. But that's the newest, and that's the C's, the Public Art Commission's in the city's first sculpture that we purchased. So we'll own this sculpture, and it'll be on display at the Centennial Park. And that's it. That concludes my directory report. I told you there was a lot. Well, thank you. You're welcome. Director Clanton. I have a couple before we take Commissioner comments and under the medium of a couple of things on sunset market because they came from the public. Okay. There was, so I was at the booth. There was a request for more trash cans and additional seating if possible throughout. And also, again, going back to having the QR codes that link to the city website so that they can get a list of all of all of the events. And they're they were asking and so I have this a question for you. Are we selling t-shirts like we did last year? No. Okay. Okay. So no selling t-shirts. Okay. Okay. Thank you for the other information. We'll pass along to Vanessa Osborne. Okay. Commissioner comments? Oh, I'm sorry. Just looking forward to awesome, fun, feel, summer. Full of awesome. Full of awesome. Full of awesome. Yes. Oh, now I understand what you're saying. Okay. Good. And then also, if you're free to volunteer at Bingo, Bingo Night, we can still use some volunteers. Sign me up. Okay, good. You sure? Yes. I'll sign you up. Thank you. Interesting. I'm sorry to believe that summer's right around the corner. It's amazing how fast this year's going. It's already here. It's here. But I love the summer events we have. So I'm looking forward to doing all that and having a lot of fun with everybody and working hard. The sunset market that I attended last week was it was so nice. I went with my husband and we walked around. We ran into some friends and they didn't even know about it. So they just happened to be walking through. Oh, really? It was like, oh, what's going on here? And it was a good surprise for them. And I said, it's going to be every Thursday for quite a while. Well, third Thursday. You didn't tell them every Thursday, did you? No, once a month. Yeah, okay, good. Cause I don't want them showing up tomorrow. That's the thing. It's going, no one's not sincere. I'm there waiting. Thank you, sir. So yeah. Very good. Excited to be part of all these events. seen him in the past, but to immerse and get into all of them and be part of them very exciting. And again, your team is amazing. So I always looking forward to. I decided to be part of all these events. I've seen them in the past, but to immerse and get into all of them and be part of them, very exciting. And again, your team is amazing. So I was looking forward to seeing them, getting to know them better at these. And then of course our esteemed group up here. So looking forward to a great summer. Yeah, same. I'm looking forward to a full of awesome summer. I also want to say congratulations to Deputy Director Boucher and our absence and just everyone who worked on the cent meeting. So, I'm going to say a little bit about the next meeting. I'm going to say a little bit about the next meeting. I'm going to say a little bit about the next meeting. I'm going to say a little bit about the next meeting. I'm going to say a little bit about the next meeting. I'm going to say a little bit about the next meeting. I'm going to the presentation this evening. It was a great meeting. And so with that, if there are any more comments, going to adjourn the meeting. Thank you, everyone. Good job. I'm sorry. Thank you.
