Done in Open Court this 16th day on my motion. Thank you. We have a motion by Commissioner Margin. Seconded by Commissioner Coleman all in favor please say aye aye I Just I just have a few brief words and I know brevity is important these sessions so I want to thank the court for the funding that they gave me, gave me, excuse me gave the county and in times of need for the mental health unit. We started out at $153,000 in our budget when we came in on our when we came in on our emergency detention fund that you send over to help us with our IDD and mentally ill patients. You increased that to $285,000. My first year was there and I really appreciate that. That gave us an opportunity to serve even more. And because of your insight, I know that when Pam Dutier is and the new sheriff come in, that when there needs for the mental health clients for Denton County come in, I know that you will be as supportive to them as you were to us. And I want to thank you and Sheriff Parkie and the rest of the citizens for the opportunity to serve. We certainly wish you great retirement. I know you'll enjoy it. I don't have to say enjoy your retirement. Of course you can enjoy it. But we will miss you. You've done a great job for Ditton County. We appreciate you very much. You'll be glad to know that this 1115 waiver that Dr. Burton and I have been working on, it's going to facilitate some more funding for AMHMR and hopefully that will help relieve the pressure in our sheriff's department and we have great hopes of that. So I think that's a good thing to be looking forward to in the future. But happy retirement and thank you for being here this morning. Thank you so much. I don't know if y'all know Gil. I had the pleasure of serving with Gil and he is a super, super good guy. But y'all, he was really, really well suited for a, being a mental health, though, but he is not very exciting. It is a tough, tough job. But he was also a registered nurse and was very well equipped for a handling of job. And in my opinion, did a and I've been a good job and I've been a good job and I've been a good job and I've been a good job and I've been a good job and I've been a good job and I've been a good job and I've been a good job and I've been a good job and I've been a good job and I've been a good job and I've been a good job and I've been a good job and I've been a good job and I've been a good job and I've been a good job and I've been a good job and I've been a good job and Yes, we're going to go to item 3a on the agenda, which is approval of a resolution honoring Mike Cochran for his years preserving Denton County history. And first we're going to call, I don't, okay, Peggy, you want to speak or do we want to do the resolution first? Say a few words first. Okay. Well, I just want to let everyone know how excited we are about this new exhibit and about our rekindled friendship with Mike Cochran and Linda Lavender. I met them over 30 years ago when Linda did a wonderful exhibit and book for the UNT Museum called Mudcats and Dog Trots. And anyway, they have just been so gracious to me since I moved to Denton and have just enriched my life so much with their friends as well as our, Mike and I could talk for hours and hours about Denton County history and all the wonderful things he has collected through the years. So we're just so pleased that he wanted to share his photographs of neon signs from the 1970s and hope that this will be the first many collaborations we do over the years. Thank you, Mike. I don't want to. Okay. I'd like to do this proclamation now if that's okay. Alright, whereas Mike Cochran saw the importance of documenting and lost art and advertising that was prevalent in the United States beginning with the expansion of highways across America between 1920 and the 1960s. And whereas as a result, Mike began documenting neon signs throughout the United States in a broad in the early 1970s. And whereas Mike is a noted local historian whose other interests include history of John B. Denton, architect O'Neill Ford, Denton County pottery and historic postcards. And whereas Mike is the editor of the Denton County History page at www.dentonhistory.net. And an avid collector of Denton County history. And whereas as a result of that collecting, Mike has saved several Denton County related signs from the neon gray guards. And whereas Mike and his wife Linda Lavender are active in various civic and educational organizations in Denton. Now therefore, the result of Denton County Commissioner's Court hereby does recognize Mike Cochran for his contribution to the preservation of the history of Denton County and his grateful to Mike Cochran and Linda Lavender for sharing their wonderful collection of neon signs now on exhibit at the courthouse on the square museum the chair was a moon seconded by commissioner Eid Salen favor please say aye. Aye opposed the name motion does carry in the same. If I may be permitted to say I am gratified and completely surprised by this praise being undeserved praise being heaped them on me. But I, it's gratifying to see these old slides out because when I was taking them years and years ago, not that many people thought it was a good idea. And that's putting it, putting it mildly. But if you wait long enough, you come around. But I'd also like to say that I really appreciate the new direction of the museum and I think that we've got some exciting things before us in the county and your leadership and Peggy's leadership is making that happen. And so I'm grateful for that. Thank you very much. We're grateful for your exhibit today and Andy did you want to say something? I just want to say thank you for your collaboration as Peggy said. Peggy and I went over and spent the evening over at Mike's house and we were wanting to pick pocket that house and the garage of all the artifacts. And I think Linda we're going to help. We're going to help clear out the garage. I know. So he's got he's been a great collector over the years and has willing to partner with us on some future exhibits and everything. We're really appreciative of that because as I just said yesterday someone called me and had some antique furniture from one of our pioneer families and they called me and literally dropped it off at our house. My house in Flower Mound, we brought it up here this morning. And it's folks such as yourself and the people who called yesterday and anyone who's watching, it's your own individual collections, your own individual artifacts that people are willing to donate or loan to the county is what really makes our museums and our artifacts, our collections, what they are today. So thank you so much for y'all's willingness. Make it easy to do. So. Okay. Paging. I believe now we're going to go downstairs and have a few refreshments and y'all get to preview the exhibit. Okay, we're going to take a little bit of a break. So, Commissioner's Court is in recess and you're all invited downstairs to see. I'm going to go to the next room. I'm going to go to the next room. Okay, Commissioner Marche, did you? I think this, can these agreements with the local hospital also commit them to have a bed that might hold for psychiatric patients. A bird on a emergency basis. We're gonna delay 21a, the workshop to discuss County Civil Service Commission rules. Amy has had a little health issue this morning, so we'll just postpone that for one week. So we have taken care of our business. I'm going to go back to item number one, which is public comment. I let you know that I husband and I had a fun experience last Friday. I took the day off and we went over and got on the A-Train, DCTA A-Train and wrote it down to Fair Park and I'm telling you if you haven't done it, you need to do it. Take your family and go do it. It works great. Drops you off right at the front door of the fair. There's actually two stops at the fairground. One is labeled as Fair Park Stop, another one I believe is called M.O.K., which is the very in-stop. I would also would like to recommend to you that if you go to the fair, stay in the evening and see the light show and water show and everything at 8 o'clock, if you're familiar with where the fountains are and the fairgrounds, there's not a bad seat. Don't worry about where you're sitting with your family. You know, are we going to be able to see it here? You can see it all over if anywhere close to the fountains. But besides water and lights, they have laser. It's great music. There's a round bill right in the middle that is enormous, probably the size of this room that they have projected great pictures. It's really fun, it's great music, it's fireworks, there's even flames shooting out from the very middle of the fountains. Your family would really enjoy it if you go to the fair. Don't wear everybody out. Make them stick around at 8 o'clock for the light show at 8 o'clock. It goes on for about 20, 20, 30 minutes, something like that. And it's fun. Everybody really enjoys it. You know, when the fair is not even open, there's a really cool autumn museum and natural ice cream museum. So we always do that in the summer. We took the DCTA to the Dart to Fair Park during the summer. And it was neat because my parents had just moved to Dallas and we were able to go up to the stop near Presbyter Village and then get them and then get them on the train and go all the way down. I would, I would stop and then you stopped. Yeah, we stopped. We stopped at Trinity Mills, you changed trains, but when we stopped there, the other train was sitting there waiting. We didn't have to run or anything. We went over there and still waited, you know, five minutes or so and then not long and it took off. I would recommend that if you do it and you're taking little kids, I told Commissioner Ease this morning, after the water and light show and fireworks and everything at eight o'clock. We went out to get on the train. We were at the very front entrance to the fair, but since that train starts at the MLK station by the time the train got to us, there were already a lot of people on it. We got on, okay, but we had to stand up and hang on. So if you've got little kids that might be a problem, I would suggest you that you go to MLK train station and get on at the very first stop. But it was a lot of fun. It took about an hour and a half to get down there, but an hour and a half to get back. But then you're not parking and paying for parking and it's very convenient. How many corny dogs? I just ate one corny dog. I just said, yeah, but I didn't quit there. I had some other, no, I didn't do the final cake. We had some other good stuff though. But anyway, I just wanted to pass that on. It was a fun experience. We had a good day. Okay, with that, we are adjourned everybody have a good, adjourned everybody have a good, with that, we are adjourned.
