And where is it? It's more than 602,000 urban, suburban, and rural youth participants ranging in age from 8 to 19, health and diverse ethnic socioeconomic backgrounds, and truly represent a cross-section of the state. And whereas the program undoubtedly could not have achieved the success it has today, we're at not for the service of more than 30,000 volunteers, they'll give them generously of their time, talents, energies, and resources to the youth of Texas. And whereas throughout its proud history, the 4-H program has developed positive role models for countless Texas. And through its innovative and inspiring programs, continues to build character and to instill the values that have made our state strong and great. Now therefore, it may resolve the Den Conning Commission's court hereby designates October 2nd through the 8th, 2016 as National 4-H Week in Texas. This is a resolution honoring the Villa Nueva family and the Ramirez family of Denton counties, oldest Hispanic families. The Denton County Commissioner's Court meeting in a regular session on Tuesday, October 4th, 2016, considered the following resolution. Whereas in celebration of the 2016 National Hispanic Heritage Month, Denton County recognizes the Villanova family and the Ramirez family as two of the oldest Hispanic families in Denton County. And whereas Antonio Vill Nueva came to Texas from Mexico arriving in Denton in 1903 as a widower with a young daughter Ramona shortly after there after he married Marguerita Vila and they had eight children. Antonio Vila, Trina, Margaret, Sam, Ben Dolores, and Josephine. And, whereas, three of the sons Ben, Sam, and Braylor, and one of the daughter's Margaret served in the military during World War II, and whereas Antonio, known as Tony, was the business owner who operated a restaurant and sold tam Mollies on the square. And whereas Lamente Ramirez was born in Monterey, Mexico, in 1902, he married Pearl Garza in 1927 in Ellis County and had six children. John Gavita, Tony, Amelia, Nonna Smalley, Rosita and Victoria. And whereas Clemente, Nonna's Mike, was a rancher in Hunt County until he moved to Tilego where he worked for the Texas and Pacific Railroad. In 1957 the family moved to Denton County where Clemente retired from the railroad after 35 years. Now therefore it resolved the Denton County Commission's Court. Denton County, Texas, is hereby honor the Villain-Wave family and the the Ramirez family for the contribution to Hispanic Heritage in Denton County. Whereas Sammy Bishop Baylor has been a low-member, low-employee of the Denton County Sheriff's Office since March 2001, we're with tire on September 30th, 2016, after a 15-year career with the Denver County Sheriff's Department. Whereas Sammy achieved the levels of master jailer, master peace officer, mental health officer, and court security specialist during his career with the Sheriff's Office, as well as received several letters of commendation. And whereas during his time with the Denton County Sheriff's Office, he worked as a deputy sheriff in transport and mental health and as Baylif where he is respected for his ability to control his courtroom, as well as his outstanding performance and professionalism. And whereas during all of his time with the Sheriff's Office, Sammy has faithfully, and diligently discharged to duties and obligations of the office's entrusted to him, worked well with his co-workers and implemented the policies of the Sheriff's Office in an honorable and responsible manner with vigilance for the safety and security of the families and citizens of Denton County. And, whereas the citizens of Denton County are grateful to Sammy for answering the call to service for his commitment to duty and for the service he has rendered during his law enforcement career in tenure with Denton County. Now therefore it really resolved Denton County Commissioner's Court, Denton County, Texas. Does hereby extend to Sammy Bishop our sincere and grateful appreciation for his dedicated service to Dentvin County. And whereas Theresa initiated the creation and implementation of an online application for print mail request to assist all departments and whereas Teresa through innovative and research identified an opportunity to institute mail pre-sort services which has saved in County a substantial amount of money in less than one year. And whereas Theresa personifies professional excellence and sets example for others to follow by being an outstanding leader and ensuring the print now department runs smoothly. Whereas Larry has been in charge of several large projects to help the courts better serve the citizens of Ditton County, include the implementation of the new audio-visual systems in the district and county courts, launching the district courts paperless notice system and establishing the Veterans Court and Mental Health Court program for felony offenders. And whereas every day Larry comes in wearing a smile, bringing enough encouragement for everyone and giving his all. Whereas Larry continuously goes above and beyond by stepping up and helping even when his outside his normal job duties. He is always willing to drop whatever he is working on to help diagnose or fix a problem so that a hearing or trial can continue on smoothly. As a finalist for her commitment to excellence and dedication to the people of Denton County, and whereas Katherine has worked for Denton County for over 16 years in the Sheriff's Department, and whereas Katherine continuously helps in all facets of operating heartful middle school by providing security for the school as well as teaching the students and staff about safety and security in today's society. And whereas Cathern assists the staff in whatever they may need to ensure all students have the best opportunity to learn. And whereas Cathern initiated a memorial for Veterans Day so that the students would have a better understanding of the sacrifices made by those who have served our nation. And whereas Catherine consistently interacts with the students in such a positive way, even when trying to navigate through difficult situations that sometimes require her to stay late and show up early. And whereas these individuals work full time, raise their family and somehow find time to also work the 350 hours of sweat equity required to qualify to purchase their own home. It was the society that pink hammer strong women build strong habitats. We're not only raised funds to help build these homes, but we'll also provide extra mentoring for these homeowners in the areas of careers, child development, financial education, and others provided by volunteers. Was this initiative, while highlight, to other single mothers how they too can have their family living in a safe environment. Whereas this initiative will also provide life changing opportunities for these families to become great citizens and break the cycle of living in substandard housing.
