Increase industry and education. Increase equality among races and genders by your light. They you spread throughout Denton County. Show us mercy, Lord, as we show mercy to others for it, as you say. Mercy triumphs over judgment. Almighty God asks that you show yourself strong in our county, bless our fellow citizens in wisdom, knowledge, and sanctification. We're grateful to live in the greatest county and the greatest state and the greatest nation under your watch. Well, blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord. May that be true of us here today. Good morning. Good morning. Good morning. All right. So Friday was the last day for, or the deadline for filing new bills. There were over 7,000 bills filed between the House and the Senate. That's about a 9% increase from two years ago. Also, HB 3716 was filed by Representative Parker, and that was the establishment of the Medical Examiner Office in certain counties to increase the population from 1 million to 2 million in order for the creation of a medical examiner office. And HB 3714, which was also filed by Representative Parker, and that related to the establishment of the street lights along county roads. Both of those were filed on March 7th. HB3, the school funding bill, Senator Nelson put forward and past the Senate. It has now gone to the House. There is a lot of conversation about that. It will put about $9 million into public education. And the debate continues because of the property tax compression of four cents at the same time as the increase is happening. So it's more money in the classrooms, it's reducing Robinhood and it really is taking up a lot of people's time and energy as they look to negotiate that one. There's also a lot of behind the scenes negotiations happening on SB2 or an SB2 relative to the property tax caps. It's the House Appropriations Committee is going through their riders this week. And so that is happening with the budget. And that's really it. Right now I have two additional policy statements that will be drafted for next week. We wanna do them when all five members are here. I'm working on the HB749 and SB21 that relates to the sale of the tobacco and e-cigarettes to increase that age to 21 and HB705 which is relating to the county sales tax. That's it. Any questions? You're welcome. Thank you. Thank you so much. We'll continue this process all the way through the end of the session. And we'll be looking to take some action next week. Members, I'd like to go to community updates, which is number 17. Members, do you have any updates that you would like to mention regarding to upcoming events or anything particular in your precinct you want to mention? Anyone? Okay, well I have one. Danny Brumley. Danny. Grab Danny. I want to make a little announcement here. I want to brag. Come on in, Danny Brumley. I'd like to brag on our facilities director for just a moment. Members, you may have, you may receive these in your office. our facilities director for just a moment. Members, you may receive these in your office. This is the Texas Historic Commission Courthouse Cornerstones. It's a publication from our partners down to the THC. And this was a 2019 Texas Historic Courthouse Preservation Program update. And our very own Danny Brumley was quoted in the publication and he's done such a great job all these years being a guardian and custodian in so many capacities of our 1896 courthouse that were so blessed to have here and I want to read his quote that he was quoted. I believe the Courthouse Restoration was the key of the revitalization of Denton. It was huge for us because we created a show place that triggered businesses wanting to come to Denton and open up downtown. So anyway, I just wanted to give a shout out to Danny and thank him publicly for all his efforts. So thank you so much. Danny, I'll tell you, Danny is a leader in the industry as far as courthouses here in Texas. I was pleased a couple years ago. Peggy and Danny had some of Danny's counterparts across the state here to the courthouse and I got an opportunity to speak to him and brag on Danny to his colleagues and peers across the state. But it was wonderful to have the team from the Texas Historic Commission come up and look at our courthouse and see how we do it right. And it's really a shining example. The partnership between the commissioners, courthouse allocating funds and sharing the vision of preserving this wonderful building and landmark. And Danny, we've got to speak to him and right here in this very room, and I came from all across the state. So anyway, we're not the only ones who are a big fan of all the things that you do. So thank you you sir. I don't know what Lynn said but whatever it is I agree. I learned that long time ago. All right. Members I'd like to go to item 16A. This is our executive session. This is under Texas Local Government Code 551072. This is deliberation regarding real property. The closed meeting to deliberate the purchase or value of real property located in. Didn't kind of commission a precinct for when deliberation and open meeting would be a detrimental effect on the position of the governmental body and negotiations with the third person in the appropriate action. So we will recess into executive session. I'm going to take it off session or be right back. Second session will be no action on item 16A and we are adjourned.
