I'm going to go to the next room. I'm going to go to the next room. I'm going to go to the next room. I'm going to go to the next room. I'm going to go to the next room. I'm going to go to the next room. I'm going to go to the Good evening, everyone. This is I'm called to order the meeting of the Board of Commissioners for March 4, 2024. First item on our agenda, of course, is the Pledge of Allegiance. We do have a special guest for Justice A. Unique. I'm Mrs. Cindy Cobb. Would you lead us in the Pledge of Allegiance? Pledge of Allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands one nation under God, indivisible with liberty and justice for all. Thank you, bye. Commissioner Nick Sattelman, agenda is the agenda approval. This is the will of the board. Motion approved. Second. Thank you, Commissioner. I have a motion to second. Any discussion? Any other questions? No, my favorite is your right hand. Any opposed? Likewise, the agenda has been approved. Thank you. Commissioner Nick's item is public comments. This is where citizens have a wish to speak. Registers and comes up to speak for three minutes. And we do have a speaker tonight. If you would serve, please come up for your three minutes. And my name is Fernando Corretto. It's a little Gourney. Gourney. All right. From 4 City, North Carolina. Yeah. Okay. You live within the borders of 4 city or in the county? County, I live in Henry, Edda. Okay. Thank you. That's all I was saying, his. Oh. Three minutes. Okay. I just wanted to come and ask you guys to lower the tax rate. As you guys are working on the budgets, as everyone's working on the budgets, I know a lot of people are here to see that their projects are going to be going through. Asking you guys as a citizen to lower the tax rate. I know we had a revow, you knowow that took place last year. Everyone's taxes went up. Mine went up 72% with no improvements to my land. And I shouldn't have to, I talked to Alan, talked to me after the last time I spoke here. And said I should have argued my valuation. I don't think I should have to come and say, oh my land is worthless. I shouldn't have to say, you know, you take away my value. Building value in your property is part of the American dream. The tax rate should have been lowered to the point that my taxes, my cash outlay was the same. I call that revenue neutral. Actually confirm that. I went down to Raleigh and talked with the state budget office about that. That's revenue neutral, right? Your tax outlay, what your pan is saying. And so I'm asking that as you guys are working on the budget, getting ready for June, May and June, that you start considering lowering the tax rate so that our cash outlay is equal to what it was in 2022. I can't understand if you have to have a small increase. I mean, there's been inflation. Totally understand that. But 72% might cash outlay doubling in taxes, it's just wrong. Just wrong. So I'm asking you, citizen of Rutherford County, the lower the, thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you, Eric. Appreciate it. And there are no other public comments for the evening. Commissioners, the next item is the consent agenda. And is there not any commissioners like to add or remove from the consent agenda? Motion to approve the consent agenda. Sorry. I think I've got a motion in a second. Any discussion? Hearing none, I call the question. No favor, raise your right hand. Any opposed, light wise. So I was a thermal community college month and equal 20 if that's the paint community blue day. This time I could recognize the president of the college. Margaret. And I would try to say your last name, but it's still haven't got. Good evening. Thank you all for allowing me to join you this evening. I'd like to start by thanking you for the support that you demonstrate for the college and the opportunity to partner together to serve this community. I think that's the way we get things done. It's coming together and really collaborating to make things happen. And I'm grateful for that opportunity here in this community. I come to you to ask for a resolution that identifies April 2024 as an Icedothermal Community College month. This is aligned with a proclamation made back in 1985 by President Ronald Reagan, recognizing April each year's Community College Month. And so in continuing that great tradition, I would ask that you consider a resolution to do the same for Isothermal Community College. But this year it's a little different in that we are excited to offer our, what we are calling on campus is paint the campus blue day, which is an opportunity. It's a kind of a play on paint the town red. It's about coming together in good fun and good fellowship with members of our community, simply to be a neighbor in our community and to welcome families, individuals throughout the county to get to know isothermal community college and the opportunities that we can provide for our citizens across the county. Also, of course, expanding on that is the request that you would adopt April 20th as paint the community isothermal community college blue. So we'll see how much blue actually shows up there, but we promise if you come join us, you'll not feel blue that day. So I'm happy to read this, but I think all of you have this in your packet. So to spare you that, just want to again ask for your support for this event, for the Community College Month, and again, in gratitude for all that you do to support us as we support workforce preparation for residents across our community. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
