RESOLUTION NO. 2024-10  AI  A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY  EVERGLADES    OF  CITY, FLORIDA,  APPROVING THESUBMISSION OF A GRANT APPLICATIONTONTOTHESTATE OF FLORIDA DEPARIMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION FOR $1,200,000.00 FOR A WATER QUALITY IMPLEMENTATION GRANT; AND WHEREAS, the City of Everglades City's grant policies and procedures require City WHEREAS, Florida Department of Environmental Protection Water Quality Implementation grants help communities address wastewater, stormwater, agricultural, and other projects to reduce nutrients in waterbodies to protect and restore Florida's water resources; WHEREAS, the Mayor has authorized the presentation of a grant application for $1,200,000.00 for the construction of a new deep well to inject effluent into the groundwater  PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.  Council approval of all grants authorized by the Mayor;  aquifer (the "Grant");  WHEREAS, the purpose of obtaining the Grant funding is to: reduce the utilization oft the existing rapid infiltration basins for effluent disposal and allow the city to utilize the full capacity ofthe treatment facility, increase system reliability, and allow for ai future expansion ofthe facility,  as discussed in the City's Wastewater System Master Plan; Water Quality Implementation grant program;  WHEREAS, the source ofthe Grant funding is al Department of Environmental Protection  WHEREAS, matching funds are: not required;  WHEREAS, whether the Grant funds must be spent within a specific period is pending WHEREAS, this grant is ai reimbursement grant, and full disclosure of additional Grant- WHEREAS, the City Council desires to approve application for this Grant.
