CITY OF SARASOA City of Sarasota Board of Adjustment Minutes November 18, 2020 The following are the motion minutes of the Board of Adjustment meeting held in the City Commission Chambers at City Hall, 1565 1st Street, on Wednesday, November 18, 2020. The meeting came to order at 1:36 p.m. Chair Israelson reminded everyone in attendance to silence their phones. Roll call was taken. PRESENT: Chair; Paul Israelson, Vice Chair, Philip DiMaria; BOA members, Olga Hanlon, Matthew Ruch, and Edward D'Agostino; Gretchen M. Schneider, General Manager, Development Services and Secretary to the Board; Angela McLeod Wilkins, Administrative Assistant, Development Services ABSENT: None LEGAL COUNSEL: John Shamsey, Assistant City Attorney Ms. Hanlon made a motion to approve the October 28, 2020 meeting minutes. Mr. Ruch seconded the motion. The minutes were unanimously approved as submitted. Mr. Shamsey explained the quasi-judicial procedures and stated that an application for Affected Person status has been received. Mr. Shamsey called on citizen Thomas Dowdy who had submitted a request for Affected Person Status. Mr. Thomas was not in attendance and was not granted Affected Person status. Ex-parte communications and site visits were announced. Ms. Schneider recited the Pledge of Conduct and everyone intending to speak was swomn in. Time Limits were announced. NEW BUSINESS Variance Petition No. 2020-VAR-06, Marina View Condominium Association, owner, requesting three variances to construct a boat dock and boat lift at 660 Golden Gate Point. The variances would be to allow the dock to be at a water depth of-2.8 mean low water, a reduction in the required side yard setback, and to increase the width of the finger. Address: 660 Golden Gate Point. Zoning Code: Section VI-1302 (1) and (1)(a) and (10). Legal description on file in the Development Service Department City of Sarasota. Zone district: RMF-5 Residential Multiple Family. Kristina V. Tignor, P.E., agent for owner. The public hearing was opened. Ms. Schneider provided an overview oft the requested variances. Kristina Tignor, agent for owner, approached the Board with Doug Olson, Marina View Condominium Association Board Member. Ms. Tignor presented the variance petition to the Board. The Board members questioned Ms. Tignor. Chair Israelson noted that Vice Chair DiMaria had arrived. The public hearing was closed. The Board discussed the variance request. Vice Chair DiMaria made a motion to approve the request for three variances. The motion was seconded by Mr. Ruch. The motion passed 5-0 to approve the variance. (Israelson yes; DiMaria yes; D'Agostino yes; Hanlon - yes; Ruch - yes) ADMINISTRATIVE MATTERS Ms. Schneider stated that there would not be a December meeting. She noted that two applications were received and explained that both applications are required to have signoff by the Development Review Committee prior to presenting to the Board of Adjustment. The Board of Adjustment briefly discussed and approved a letter regarding wall heights that Ms. Schneider drafted on their behalf for presentation to the City Commission.
