MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL SARASOTA COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY MEETING OF JULY 16, 2018 PRESENT: Vice Chair Jen Ahearn-Koch, Members Hagen Brody, Shelli Freeland Eddie, and Willie Charles Shaw, Executive Director Thomas Barwin, Attorney Robert Fournier, and Secretary Pamela Nadalini ABSENT: Chair Liz Alpert The meeting of the Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) was called to order by' Vice Chair Ahearn-Koch at 3:05 p.m. 1. APPROVAL RE: MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL SARASOTA COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY MEETING OF JUNE 18, 2018 (AGENDA ITEM CRA-1) Vice Chair Ahearn-Koch stated that the minutes of the Special Sarasota Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) Meeting of June 18, 2018, should be corrected under CRA No. 2, Presentation and Discussion Re: Recommendation for approval for Budget Amendment for North Palm Avenue Streetscape Project No. 001687 due a scrivener's error, which was already provided to the Office of the City Auditor and Clerk. A motion was made by Member Freeland Eddie, seconded by Member Shaw and carried by a 4-0 vote to approve the minutes of the June 18, 2018, Special Sarasota Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) Meeting with the noted correction. 2. APPOINTMENT RE: NEWTOWN COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY ADVISORY BOARD (CRAAB) (AGENDA ITEM CRA-2) CRA Secretary Nadalini stated that a vacancy exists on the Newtown Community Redevelopment Agency Advisory (Newtown CRAAB) Board due to the resignation of Sophee Payne, who held the seat designated for an individual involved in planning or design; that the Office of the City Auditor and Clerk received applications from Philip DiMaria and Hytham Bakr, which are included in the Agenda backup material for CRA Board review and consideration; however, Mr. Bakr is not a City resident but owns a business within City Limits. Secretary Nadalini called for nominations. Member Brody nominated Philip DiMaria for the Newtown CRAAB. Member Shaw nominated Hytham Bakr for the Newtown CRAAB. Member Freeland Eddie nominated Hytham Bakr for the Newtown CRAAB. Member Brody stated that he met with Mr. DiMaria who is a nice young man and professional in the community and the belief is he is either a planner or architect. Secretary Nadalini stated that the seat to be filled involves planning or design. Member Brody stated that Mr. DiMaria has a very impressive resume and is currently employed with Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc. Member Shaw stated that Mr. Bakr owns property in the Newtown area on Noble Avenue and would be an asset to the Newtown CRAAB. Book 3 Page 31876 07/16/18 2:30 P.M. Hytham Bakr received three votes: Member Freeland Eddie, yes; Vice Mayor Ahearn-Koch, yes; and Member Shaw, yes. Vice Chair Ahearn-Koch congratulated Mr. Bakr on his appointment to the Newtown Community Redevelopment Agency Advisory (Newtown CRAAB) Board. 3.
