Applicant's Agent Phone: 941-907-6900 A community workshop will be held to discuss a proposed G-Zone Waiver Application for the Ted Sperling Park located at South Lido Beach (Ted Sperling Nature Park). Ted Sperling Park is a Sarasota County Government-owned beach and water access park and includes such amenities as: birding opportunities, canoe and kayak launch, shelter and pavilions, public restrooms, wildlife viewing, fishing, and picnicking. Proposed improvements to the park require a G-Zone Waiver application to the City of Sarasota. A proposed Multi-Use Recreational Trail (MURT) will provide connection from the southern end of the park near the parking lot to the northern end of the park. Portions of the MURT will Cross existing wetlands and will be raised in these sections. In some locations, these raised sections of the MURT will encroach into the required 30-foot setback. Because oft these proposed encroachments into the required setback area, a G-Zone Waiver is needed. The Zoning Code (2002 Ed.) of the City of Sarasota requires that all applicants hold a Community Workshop prior to filing a formal application with the City of Sarasota if requesting one or more of thei following applications: Conditional Use; Rezone; Street/ROW Vacation; "G" Zone Waiver, Amendment to the Future Land Use Map Illustration LU-6ofthe! Sarasota City Plan; Amendments to the text ofthe Sarasota City Plan that affecta a specific and limiteda area ofthe City (as determined by the Director oft the Department ofNeighborhood and Development: Services); day care facilities with more than ten children in certain: zone districts; utilization of Golden Gate Point alternative standards, and/or certain development projects within the Laurel Park Overlay District (LPOD) and North Trail Overlay District (NTOD). The meeting is to inform neighboring property owners, residents, and business owners oft the nature of the proposed development, explain the: site plan, ifany, solicit suggestions and identify concerns; prior to the filing ofa formal development application. This meeting will bec conductedb by the applicant or theiri representative; however, al member ofthe City of Sarasota' ss staff willl be in attendance to address administrative questions. An additional Community Workshop shall be required if: an increase is proposed to the height, density or intensity of an application occurs following the previous Community Workshop; an amendment is requested that requires action by thel Planning Board or City Commission; and/or an application is not: filed within 12 months followingt the previous Community Workshop. Once a formal application is filed with the City of Sarasota, property owners and registered neighborhood associations within 500 feet oft the subject site will be notified ofa any public hearingsl helda ast the application proceeds throught the Development Review Process.
