Cumberland County Board of Elections Board Meeting March 18, 2025 Board Members in attendance were Chair Grimes, Member Edmonds, Member King, Member Baker, Member Devore. Staff in attendance are Director Amaro, Deputy Director Hilburn The invocation was offered by Member King The meeting was called to order by the Chair at 4:58 pm. Action: Member Baker moves to approve the agenda. (second by Member King). Vote is unanimous in favor. No public comment. Director Amaro presents minutes for approval: November 21, 2024; November 26,2024 and February 21, 2025. Action: Member Devore moves to approve the minutes from November 21, 2024, November 26, 2024, and February 21, 2025. (second by Member King). Vote is unanimous in favor. Directors Report: a. Cost for live streaming board meetings. County Webex system is $17,531.00. b. Mailed 2,773 National Change of Address (NCOA) cards. C. List maintenance completed in January 2025, mailed 19,885 cards. Removed 19,304 for not voting in 2 federal elections. d. Cape Fear Valley will be working on 2nd floor. Power will be off on entire building. No date as today. e. Director Amaro and staff member Hill were deposed by Democracy NC fori total of 4 hours. The counties deposed were Cumberland, New Hanover and Forsyth Counties. f. Director Amaro and staff member Roberts have taken and passed the NC State Board certification test. g. Bill Helms job has been posted and approval to post his job prior to Bill leaving for training new person in the position. Action: Member Devore moves to pay. staff emergency pay, provisions for the day they must be absent from the building for maintenance. (second by Chair Grimes) Vote is unanimous in favor. Action: Member King moves to adjourn meeting. (second by Member Edmonds). Vote is unanimous in favor. Meeting was adjourned at 5:19 pm.
