MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL SARASOTA COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY MEETING OF FEBRUARY 18, 2014 PRESENT: Chair Shannon Snyder, presiding, Vice Chair Willie Shaw, Members Suzanne Atwell, Paul Caragiulo, and Susan Chapman, Executive Director Thomas Barwin, City Attorney Robert Fournier, and Secretary Pamela Nadalini ABSENT: None The Special Sarasota Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) meeting was called to order by Chair Snyder at: 2:45 p.m. 1. APPROVAL RE: APPROVAL RE: MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL SARASOTA COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY MEETING OF DECEMBER 2, 2013 (AGENDA ITEM CRA-1) Chair Snyder noted CRA consensus to approve the minutes of the December 2, 2013, Special Sarasota Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) meeting. 2. APPOINTMENT RE: NEWTOWN COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY ADVISORY BOARD (AGENDA ITEM CRA-2) Secretary Nadalini stated that at the January 6, 2014, Regular Sarasota City Commission meeting, the Commission adopted Resolution No. 14R-2400, which amended the previously adopted Resolution No. 08R-2002, concerning the Newtown Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) Advisory Board; that Resolution No. 14R-2400 provides the composition oft the Newtown CRA Advisory Board be increased from seven to nine members with specified seat requirements; that one seat is designated for a citizen-at-large who shall be a City resident, and the other seat is designated for an individual who is a commercial real estate developer; that the Office of the City Auditor and Clerk received two applications which have been included in the Agenda backup material. Vice Chair Shaw nominated Mary Colleen McGue to be appointed to the seat designated for a citizen-at-large. Ms. McGue received five votes: Atwell, yes; Caragiulo, yes; Chapman, yes; Shaw, yes; Snyder, yes. Member Atwell nominated Joe Hembree to be appointed to the seat designated for an individual who is a commercial real estate developer. Mr. Hembree received five votes: Atwell, yes; Caragiulo yes; Chapman, yes; Shaw, yes; Snyder, yes. Chair Snyder announced and congratulated Mary Colleen McGue and Joe Hembree on their appointments to the Newtown CRA Advisory Board. Member Atwell stated that the two ndividual selected are highly qualified to serve on the Newtown CRA Advisory Board.
