BOARD OF DIRECTORS COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT Regular Board Meeting May 15, 2025 - MINUTES STATE OF TEXAS - COUNTY. OF MONTAGUE CITY OF BOWIE On this 15th day of May, 2025 the Community Development Board of Directors convened for a regular board meeting. Presiding: Jamie Rodden Members: Debbie Halbrook, Mildred McCraw, Renee Hart, Marty Elmore Executive Director: Cindy Roller City Liaison: Mayor Gaylynn Burris Guest: Janis Crawley Absent: Donna Ballew, Vickie Howard, Sylvia Henning, Matt Hunt Meeting was called to order by Board President Jamie Rodden at 5:17 p.m. OLD Business 1. Previous meeting minutes presented from April 10, 2025. Renee Hart motioned and Mildred McCraw seconded with no objections; the minutes were approved as presented. 2, Mom's Night Out winners included giveaway winners Missy Hudson with Texas Rangers tickets, Monica Mayfield with big basket of store items, Peggy Rogers with Wise Street Mercantile basket, and Tami Boudreaux with Thrift Angels Thrift Store basket. Emails and phone contacts were collected to send future announcements. Mom's Night attendance with nearly 700 giveaway entries was much better than the previous St Patty's Sip and last year's Mom's Night out. We had fun at several locations including horse drawn carriage rides, live music, flower bars, photo booths, pop up vendors, and many other activities. 3. Cindy Roller updated on the Travel & Tourism week update. The Bowie Knife is ready for visitors with landscaping, lights, and American Flags. The proclamation was made at City Council for NTTW. Mildred McCraw is donating her Jim Bowie Days rodeo box seats for a tourism promotion in the name of Bowie Community Development. The Bowie Knife was also recently featured on Jeopardy gameshow. 4. Janis Crawley reported on the Bowie Business Boost breakfast. She thanked our volunteers for their help with preparations, clean up, and support She encouraged us tol bring suggestions forfuture topics. Both breakfast events were 45-50 in attendance, which was the goal for AI Made Simple by Steve ROI Brown. NEW Business 1. Several façade grants are still in construction. Wheats' Mercantile is nearing completion. Thus far we have dispersed grant funds to Lone Star Backhoe & Construction along with purchasing light pole banners using $11,410.65. We currently have three grants in progress to the amount of $8,316.14. Along with two more potential grants in the amount of$1,205. Putting the façade grant amount at $20,931.00 of the $35,000 budget. 2. July Jam will include Piston Heads Poker Run in the morning starting at Brookshire's parking lot again. It was agreed to do the two silent auction items and two baked goods. Once the food is decided, help will be needed to disperse July Jam flyers. Shirts and a new design and colors were discussed. Tickets for 2024 were $15 each. Director's Report The Bowie Alliance for Education and the. Arts will also be meeting on the evening of April 16 with upcoming Murder Mystery A Family Reunion to Die for coming up on Memorial Day weekend at Freedom Life Church in Bowie. Roller reported getting to meet the new Walmart manager Jerry. He is excited about being in the community and having his staffassist with volunteer activities. Roller reported the Amon!
