CITY COUNCIL MINUTES June 4, 2025 City Council of the City of Ephrata, Grant County Washington met in regular session on June 4, 2025. The meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. by Mayor Bruce Reim. Chief for a Day: June 12, 2025 Community Development Presentation: Process and Timelines Director Sell presented an overview of the process and timeline for the Comprehensive Plan update, while City Administrator Towry emphasized the critical role of council input in shaping the plan's foundation and guiding its long-term goals. Resolution 25-040 Sage N Sun 3on3 Sponsorships The 3v3 basketball tournament, once part of the Basin Summer Sounds Festival, is making a comeback under the Sage-N-Sun Festival after several years. Parks and Recreation eagerly took the lead in planning the event, with strong support from local businesses through Gold and Silver Sponsorship Tiers. Sponsors will receive various benefits, including social media recognition, logo placement on merchandise, and, for Gold Tier sponsors, prominent banner displays at the event. AWC Annual Conference City Administrator Towry reminded the council about the upcoming AWC Annual Conference and noted that details were shared via email on May 29, 2025. Council members interested in attending should contact Towry to make necessary arrangements. Leadership Institute of NCW The Community Foundation of NCW is launching the Leadership Institute of NCW, a free, bilingual (Spanish & English) 20-session training program designed to empower adults to become effective community advocates and leaders. Based on the nationally recognized Parent Leadership Training Institute (PLTI) model, the program teaches participants how government works, how to engage in public policy, and how to drive positive change. Open to anyone 18+, the course includes leadership development, civics education, and a hands-on community project. Classes run weekly from September 2025 to January 2026 in Ephrata, with childcare and meals provided. The City of Ephrata is hosting this at City Hall. Workshop with Port of Ephrata The joint workshop with the Port of Ephrata is scheduled for June 28th from 9:00 a.m. to noon.
