ORDINANCE # 006-25 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF DE LEON, TEXAS, CANVASSING THE RESULTS OF A RUN OFF SPECIAL ELECTION FOR PLACE FOUR COUNCIL MEMBER WHEREAS, a election was held in the City of De Leon, Texas on June 7, 2025 for the purpose of the Run off Special Election of Place Four Council member. WHEREAS, the City Council has reviewed and investigated all matters pertaining to this election, including the ordering, notices, election officers, holding and returns thereof; and WHEREAS, the City Council hereby canvasses the returns ofthis election, at which there was submitted to all resident, qualified electors ofthe City of De Leon for their action thereupon, the Run off Special Election of Place Four Council member. WHEREAS, the City ofDe Leon has diligently inquired into the poll lists and the official election returns which were duly and lawfully made to this Board by the judges and clerks holding and conducting the election; the poll lists and the official election returns showing separately the votes cast in the election; and WHEREAS, from these returns, this City Council hereby finds that voters who were residents, qualified electors of the City of De Leon cast the following votes in the election; and WHEREAS, each of the candidates in said elections received the following votes: Candidate Number of Votes Run off Special Election for Place Four Council member Place Four Michelle Ackermann 39* Diana Klepac 50* THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DE LEON, TEXAS, SECTION 1. The City Council officially finds, determines, and declares that the election was duly and properly ordered, that proper legal notice of such election was duly given in the English language and the Spanish language, that proper election officers were duly appointed prior to the election, that the election was duly and legally held, that all resident, qualified electors ofthe City of De Leon were permitted to vote at the election, and due returns of the results of the election had been made and delivered, and that the City of De Leon has duly canvassed such returns, all in accordance with the laws of the State of Texas and of the United States of America and the resolution calling the election. SECTION5. Pursuant to Article VII, Section 10, ofthe Charter ofthe City of De Leon, the requirement for the reading the Ordinance at two (2) meetings of the City Council is waived.
