May 1, 2025 The Gorman City Commission met on the above date with the following present: Mayor Pro Tem Robert Ervin, Commissioners Bill Miears, April James, and Luis Ramirez. Absent was Mayor David Perry. Others in attendance were City Clerk Joni Ettinger, Kolten Preston, Margaret Hetrick, Mary Jo Dugan, and EDC Director Trinity Davis. Commissioner Miears led the opening prayer followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and the Texas Pledge. Mayor Pro Tem Ervin called the meeting to order @ 5:30 p.m. Commissioner Miears made the motion to approve the minutes of the previous meeting with a second from Commissioner James. Motion carried 3-0. Commissioner Ramirez made the motion to approve the bills for payment with a second from Commissioner Miears. Motion carried 3-0. Mary Jo reported attendance of the food bank for the month of April. EDC Director Trinity Davis gave a report followed by the Sheriff's Deputy report for the month of April. PWD Jeff Young and Tacy submitted reports. Commissioner Miears gave a brief summary of the prices he found for the "your speed radars", Before the City makes any purchase Luis will be visiting with Sheriff Weger. Commissioner Miears and Commissioner Ervin will get with PWD and set a plan to repair the drainage ditch which runs behind Prosperity Bank. The sidewalk has already caved in and Ross Street is about to. Commissioner Miears motioned to approve the purchase of another streetlamp to be set on the corner of Ross and Kent St. replacing the currently small broken one. Commissioner Ramirez made a second. Motion carried 4-0. Commissioner. James motioned to approve the 1st reading of Ordinance 06-05-2025 an Ordinance adopting a budget for the fiscal year 2025-2026 for the City of Gorman. Commissioner James made a second. Motion carried 3-0. Commissioner James made the motion to approve sharing the cost to survey City Park with the Gorman EDC., not exceeding $2000.00. Commissioner Miears made a second. Motion carried 3-0. At this time no applications have been turned into the City for Pool Operator and Lifeguards. Commissioner Ervin reminded the commission something had to be done on Ector Street from State Hwy 6 to the cemetery entrance, as well as Houston Street He is going to get with construction foreman and see if we can maybe get some assistance. Tacy will contact Brad Campbell again regarding the Community Center roof still leaking in one place. There being no further agenda items for consideration, Commissioner Ramirez motioned to adjourn with a second from Commissioner Miears. Motion carried 3-0, time was 6:50 p.m.
