Beautification Advisory Board Minutes May 19, 2025 STATE OF TEXAS S COUNTY OF TARRANT CITY OF BEDFORD S The Bedford Beautification Advisory Board met in regular session on April 21, 2025, with the following members present: Andrew Woolen = Chairperson Tycom Wright Karen Jacobsen Rob Wisson Sheila Kudray Constituting a quorum. City Council/Staff Representatives: Don Henderson = Parks Superintendent Mark Long = Parks & Recreation Director Nichelle Dawkins - Council Representative CALL TO ORDER Andrew Woolen, chairperson, called the Board meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. APPROVAL OF MINUTES 1. Consider approval of the following Beautification Advisory Board minutes: April 21, 2025 regular meeting. Tycom Wright moved that the minutes be approved as is; Rob Wisson seconded. The motion carried. 2. Council & Staff updates. Don Henderon updated the board on the Beautification Awards. Noemarie has received 3 nominations SO far. Don and staff working on closing out some irrigation projects. Green ribbon project for Harwood and 121 paperwork submitted to Austin. Bids should be received in 30 days for improvements. NEW BUSINESS 3. Discussion and possible action on the Senior Activity Center project. The Board toured the Bedford Senior Activity Center. Discussed raised beds and designed work around them. Waiting to see what Eagle Scout comes up with for his project. Would like to invite the Eagle Scout to our meeting to discuss his ideas for the raised beds. The Board discussed the idea of building walkways in areas where raised beds will be located. The board would build additional raised beds, also. OLD BUSINESS 4. Discussion and possible action on Beautification Award Program. Beautification award nominations are due by May 31, 2025. The board was encouraged to submit nominations. Noemarie will take photos of all nominations. A PowerPoint presentation will be shown at the next meeting and voting will take place. 5. Discussion and possible action on the Monarch Way Station. The board is considering giving a Certificate of Appreciation to the business that didn't win the bid on the Monarch Waystation. Native Gardeners won the bid to do the Monarch Waystation at Old Bedford School. They plan to get an early June start up on the project. We will need to add a bubbler on the irrigation system to ensure yaupon gets sufficient water. Our workday may be in conjunction with the Monarch Waystation. If not, we will decide where to do a workday or if we need a workday. NEXT MEETING 6. The next scheduled workday is Saturday, June 21, 2025. 7. The next scheduled meeting of the Beautification Advisory Board will be June 16, 2025. ADJOURNMENT There being no additional business, Tycom Wright made a motion for adjournment of the meeting; Karen Jacobsen seconded the motion.
