Absent: Mayor Mallett read a proclamation for Martin Luther King Jr. Alderman Jackson made a motion to accept the proclamation; seconded Holiday. Motion by Alderman Rush. passes unanimously. APPROVE MINUTES of regular meeting on December 9, 2024. A motion was made to approve regular meeting minutes for December by Alderman Jackson; seconded by Alderman Smith. NEW BUSINESS 1. Department Briefs Utility Clerk - Qua'Asia Becton Public Works - Michael Lowder Finance Director - Ashley McFarland Fire Chief - Shawn McBride Each department head went before Mayor Mallett and the board with summary of what has been going on in each department. Fire Chief a introduced the town's first full town captain, Jeremy Scott. McBride the board made comments and asked questions to each Mayor Mallett and department head.. 2. Merger Regionalization Feasibility (MRF) Grant Shannon Moore of WithersRavanel conducted a Merger and study as part of the grant award from the North Carolina General Regionalization The study is intended to guide the Town on future capital Assembly. the potential of merging our system with Salisbury Rowan Utilities. improvements and 3. Manager Comments Mr. Douglas gave an update on: the audit, MLK Events, Code changes and the bid process. Enforcement 4. Council Comments Alderman Rush gave an update about Centralina and upcoming fees Alderwoman High gave an update on the EDC Alderman Smith had a few questions about the upcoming board retreat Mayor Mallett gave a few updates on upcoming events ADJOURNMENT A motion was made to adjourn by Alderman Jackson; seconded Smith.
