Minutes of Cresson City Council Meeting April 8, 2025 The City Council reserves the right to adjourn into Executive Session during the course ofthe meeting to seek legal advice from its attorney regarding any item on the posted agenda as authorized by Section 551.071 ofthe Texas Government Code. Mayor Becker called the City Council Meeting of Cresson, Texas to order at 7:00 P.M. on April 8, 2025, in the City Council Chambers. Attendance as follows: Mayor Ron Becker Lisa Clement Jeff Keeney Kevin Olivarez Gary Robertson (absent) Corey Barker City Attorney Rachel Raggio Pastor Ryan Long ofthe Cresson community Seventh-day Adventist Church gave the invocation and Councilperson Clement led us in the Pledge of Allegiance and the Texas Pledge. The meeting is open to the public. Citizen's Comments Pastor Long, 114 S. Crook St, invited everyone attend the National Day of Prayer on Thursday, May 1, 2025, Prayer Breakfast from 6:30 A.M. to 8:30 A.M. being held at the Diana Jones Training Center. Mayor's Comments A. Public Works Director Victor Petty lost his mom on 4/7/2025. There are no services. B. City Secretary Katy Froyd's S dad is hospitalized with many health challenges. C. Look in the Hood County and Cleburne newspapers for Fire Department recognition articles. D. March sales tax collected is the best ever in Cresson. It is up 16% over the former highest month. Items for Future Agendas None Deliberation Agenda A. Consider and possibly act on the installation of a streetlight at the intersection of Bluebonnet Court and Bluebonnet Drive. All council members have driven the area both day and night. Councilperson Keeney makes a motion to approve putting up a reflective directional sign rather that a streetlight. Councilperson Olivarez seconds the motion. 4 ayes and 0 nays. The motion is passed unanimously. B. Consider and act on the approval of the minutes of the city council meeting held on 3/11/2025. Councilperson Keeney makes a motion to approve the minutes as written. Councilperson Clement seconds the motion. 4 ayes and 0 nays. The motion is passed unanimously. Executive Session A. Pursuant to Section 551.071, Texas Government Code, Consultation with Attorney, to consult with the City Attorney and to receive legal advice on the following matter(s): 1. Agreement for street repairs, improvements, and/or expansion. Council adjourns into Executive Session at 7:17 P.M. Reconvene into Regular Session The council reconvenes at 7:21 P.M. A. Any necessary action on executive session items. Councilperson Clement makes a motion to authorize the mayor to negotiate an agreement for street repairs, improvements, and expansion with Peter Malim up to a city contribution of $100,000.
