Minutes oft the New Market 2 Town Council Meeting 3 Monday, April 215t, 2025 4 6:30 pm 5 6 The New Market Town Council met in the Council Chambers of Arthur L. 7 Hildreth, Jr. Municipal Building on Monday, March 17th, 2025, with the following 8 members present: Mayor Peter Hughes, Bob King, Daryl Watkins, Janice Hannah, and 9 Scott Wymer. Council member Larry Bompiani was absent. 10 11 Mayor Hughes called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. and established a quorum 12 with 6 members present. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited in unison. Mayor Hughes 13 welcomed all visitors and guests. 14 15 Approval of the Agenda:- 16 17 Mr. King moved to approve the agenda as presented, and Mr. Watkins 18 seconded the motion. Congress St., wanted to publicly thank Janice Hannah 48 and Peter Hughes, and staff that attended the meeting with citizens to hear concerns and 49 answer questions about the proposed potential development on the south end ofthe town. 99 She stated that there were zoning permits for four new houses at 110, 112, 113, and 115 100 Courtyard Terrace, and a home occupation permit at 9293 Travellers Ct. A copy ofthe 101 presentation is on file with the minutes. 102 103 3. Public Safety Monthly Report - Chief Chris Rinker 104 Chief Rinker gave a Power Point presentation. He reported there were 388 calls 105 for the month, and a total of952 calls for the year, 193 extra patrols, and 3-foot patrols. 106 He noted that Officer Hess attended and completed the DCJS General Instructor Couse at 107 the Regional Police Academy. A copy ofthe presentation is on file with the minutes. 108 109 4. Events & Marketing Monthly Report - Ms. Savannah Frazier 110 Ms. Savannah Frazier presented a power point presentation. She talked about the 111 marketing material that was distributed. She attended the Quarterly Young Professionals 112 Network that was hosted at Jackson's Coner Café, joined in on Fresh Brewed Focus 113 Friday with John Fogle, and was present for the pinwheels for prevention with Response 114 at Manor Memorial. She noted that the Easter Egg Hunt was successful and thanked the 115 New Market Rotary and the Stonewall Interact Club for all their help. She gave an update 116 on things to come which included RevUp ShenCo. on May 5th, the Travel the Towns 117 Passport a tri-town partnership initiative and Jammin' Foods Fest and movie night. A 118 copy ofthe presentation is on file with the minutes. 119 120 121 122 Action Items: 123 124 The only action item on the agenda was the discussion and consideration of the proposed 125 pool rates starting in 2025. Mr. Garrison explained that the proposed rates are to help 126 cover costs due to an increase in the minimum wage. 127 128 Mrs. Hannah made a motion to approve the proposed pool rates for 2025, and Mrs. 129 Harkness seconded the motion. A representative was not in attendance, sO a copy ofthe signed proclamation will 141 be sent to the representative. 142 143 He then read a proclamation establishing National Police Week 2025 from May 11th-May 144 17th, 2025. The Mayor and the council thanked the police department for all that they do. 145 146 The Mayor explained that he and Mr. Garrison were working with a group of! health 147 providers interested in bringing together a cooperative program that provides health 197 Adjournment: 198 199 With no further business to discuss, at 8:49 p.m. Mrs. Harkness made a 200 motion to adjourn the meeting.
