Palm Ave., Howey-in-the-Hills, FL 34737 MINUTES CALLTO ORDER AND ROLL CALL Board Chair Joshua Husemann called the Parks and Recreation Board Meeting to order at 06:00 p.m. BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT: Joshua Husemann, Board Chair Mary Arnold, Board Secretary - Staci Mauro, Board Member Meredith Bright, Board Member Teresa Pileggi, Board Member STAFF PRESENT: Morgan Cates, Public Services Director Brianna Pino, Public Services Administrative Assistant APPROVAL OF MINUTES 1. Consideration and Approval of the March 13th, 2024, Parks & Recreation Advisory Board Meeting Minutes. Motion made by Board Secretary Arnold to approve ofthe 03/13/2025 Parks and Recreation Meeting; seconded by Board Member Pileggi. Motion approved unanimously by voice vote. Voting Yea: Board Chair Husemann, Board Secretary Arnold, Board Member Mauro, Board Member Bright, Board Member Pileggi Nay: None OLD BUSINESS 2. Discussion: Parks Assessment Board Member Mauro advised that there was some debris near the front of the cemetery. Board Secretary Arnold noted that Central Park looked to be in good condition. Board Chair Husemann stated that Blevins Park was in good condition with the exception of an exposed irrigation pipe along Cypress Avenue. 1IPage Board Member Pileggi reported that Griffin Park was in good condition. She noted that there was a hole in the ground by the boat ramp. Board Member Bright advised that there were plants growing through the Sara Maude Mason boardwalk. 3. Discussion: Staff Parks Update Public Services Director Morgan Cates advised that emergency repairs had been completed on the boat ramp. Mr. Cates advised that the Town would receive a proposal for the repair of the broken equipment at Griffin Park. NEW BUSINESS 4. Discussion: Parks & Recreation Strategic Planning The board members discussed prioritizing the downtown Central Avenue area, with a particular focus on the Central Avenue sewer hookup. 5. Discussion: Lakeside Improvements The board members and the Public Services Director discussed plans to secure grants to enhance the boat ramp and Griffin Park. There was discussion regarding the permitting process for sidewalk installations to the Finger Piers. Motion was approved unanimously by voice vote.
