Amended June 3, 2025 PUBLIC COMMENT - Pat Lampe announced she will be stepping down as Shippingport's Emergency Management Coordinator and encourages anyone interested in the role to step forward. The position is crucial in handling various emergencies and accidents that may affect the town. Volunteers are also always welcome to assist. Those interested in applying or volunteering can contact the borough secretary. COMMITTEE REPORTS A. POLICE (MAYOR AND CHIEF) - Monthly police report was submitted. B. ROADS AND BRIDGES - None C. MOTOR VEHICLESAND EQUIPMENT -None D. BUILDING AND GROUNDS - Cindy Mortimer submitted a list of potential projects for the borough to consider, primarily focusing on repairs to the buildings and park. She and the borough secretary will gather quotes for the council to review but wanted to highlight the maintenance needs. E. PARKS AND RECREATION - None F. WATER AND SEWER = None VEOLIA WATER REPORT - Dennis Ottaviani reported that a recent water sample showed TTHM levels were above the limit but still within compliance. He thanked the council for allowing Veolia and the DEP to use the borough building for a water quality meeting. The meeting revealed Midland's water is unstable, and while the issue originates there, Shippingport must ensure a compliant water supply for its residents. Dennis outlined possible actions: resolution through the contractual issues that Solicitor Urick is addressing, switching suppliers, creating a local water authority, or using an activated carbon filter. He also noted that DEP studies are identifying emerging contaminants (TCA & PFAS) that could become an issue in the future. Dennis presented a quote to replace a stainless-steel valve at the wastewater treatment plant and noted a possible quote for a circuit breaker. He suggested working with Veolia to compile a list of repair items for budget review, rather than bringing individual quotes to each meeting. Amended June 3, 2025 PRESENTATION BY REPRESENTATIVES FROM SHIPPINGPORT INDUSTRIAL PARK - None. SOLICITOR REPORT -The solicitor reported that Shippingport Industrial Park had submitted a letter of notification, logging application, and logging plan to the borough in compliance to the pending Ordinance 238 - Timber Harvesting. The solicitor gave a brief overview of the logging plan presented and legal aspects of the ordinance and application process. MOTIONTO ADOPT ORDINANCE NO. 238 - AN ORDINANCE OF THE BOROUGH OF SHIPPINGPORI, BEAVER COUNTY, COMMONWEALTH OF PENNSYIVANIA, ADOPTING ORDINANCE NO. 238 REGULATING AND ESTABLISHING TIMBER HARVESTING PRACTICES TO ALLOW FOR AND ENCOURAGE PROPER FOREST MANAGEMENT WITHIN SHIPPINGPORT BOROUGH - Motion by Joe Hawthorne and seconded by James Wilkinson to adopt the ordinance .motion passed unanimously.
