Mifflintown Borough May 5, 2025 The borough council met on this date in the municipal building at 100 Cross Street, Mifflintown PA. The meeting was called to order at 7:00p by President Samuel Klinger. The following were in attendance: Richard Zimmerman Jr, Vice President; Mayor Roxann McGinnis; Mark Turns Jr; Karen Haas; Brian Baker; Mark Aurand, maintenance; Zina Klinger, meters; Robin Saner, Secretary/Ireasurer, and Randy Zimmerman, Solicitor. At 7:02p Solicitor Zimmerman called for an executive session. Motion was made 1st by Zimmerman Jr. and 2nd by Baker to approve that request. The session ended at 7:20p with a motion made by Klinger 1st and Zimmerman Jr 2nd. The solicitor asked for approval to continue moving forward with the garbage contract process. A motion was made by Baker 1st and 2nd by Klinger. Zina reported on monies collected from tickets and meters. She wrote out 51 tickets for $929.14 and meter money was $ 1228.25 for a total of $2157.39. Aurand gave a run down of all the projects he's been working on including cleaning drains and sweeping; fixing the signs at the walking bridge; cold patched different areas; he took the tubes off the trees at the tree farm and staked them to the ground; he planted 2 trees at the park; put the bracket out on the BBQ pit; and various other items. He reported that Fermanagh Twp fixed the signs they knocked down plowing and Kyle Kint cut down the tree in the Meadows. He asked borough about purchasing paint. He'd like to get 3 gallons between white and yellow. Approval was granted with a motion made by Baker 1st and Turns Jr. 2nd At the end ofhis report Aurand submitted his resignation with the last day being May 23, 2025. The minutes from the previous meeting were approved with a motion made 1st by Zimmerman Jr. and 2nd by Baker. The Treasurer's Report was also approved. Zimmerman Jr made the 1st motion with a 2nd by Haas. Mayor McGinnis talked to different landlords about cleaning up their properties in the borough. She is also going to talk to residents whose properties need cleaned up. We have a homeless gentleman in the borough. There isn'ta anything the state police can do and since we do not have a Code Enforcement Officer there is little we can do. Mayor McGinnis is going to see about helping him. The ad for the Code Enforcement Officer to run the week ofMay 12th. The bill to paid were approved by council with a motion 1st made by Zimmerman Jr. and 2nd by Turns Jr. Meeting adjourned at 8:00p with Zimmerman Jr making the 1st motion to adjourn followed by Haas who 2nd the motion.
