CITY OF SANCTUARY P. O. BOX 125, Azle Texas 76098 817-221-6016 MINUTES FOR THE SCHEDULED CITY COUNCIL MEETING HELD ON NOVEMBER 12, 2024, 6:30 pm, AT SANCTUARY CITY HALL, 1920 BERKELEY DRIVE, AZLE TEXAS, 76020 I. Call to Order: Mayor Sommers called the meeting to order at 6:30 PM. II. Roll Call: The Mayor and all Aldermen were present, except Alderwoman Nancy Cozad, who was an excused absence. III. Pledge of Allegiance IV. Approval of Last Meeting's Minutes: Motion to accept as written was made by Alderman Gunter, Motion seconded by Alderman Scallan; Motion carried. V. Public Discussion: None. VI. Regular Items: Discussion and/or Vote A. Alderwoman Fohl presented a proposed Resolution for handling audits. After discussions on the rough draft for a resolution on auditing practices for the City of Sanctuary and making the suggested changes, a Motion to approve a Resolution on Auditing Practices for the City of Sanctuary was made by Alderman Scallan, Motion was seconded by Alderman Gunter: Motion carried. B. Mayor Sommers went over the city zoning map and discussed changes still to be made. He is working closely with the company to get it finalized. C. Mayor Sommers discussed whether the City should be involved in any clean up work or inspection of Ash Creek. However, the creek only runs through private lots in Sanctuary. At this time, it is not clear what, if anything the city could be involved in. D. Mayor Sommers discussed the issue of some residents having concerns over a few of the building permits being issued. Parker County Appraisal District's web page is not always up to date and should anyone have concerns as to if a person has the right to be building on any given lot(s) they may call the office and ask the Mayor, who signs all building permits on behalf oft the city. E. Mayor Sommers informed the City Council that the gas line along Ash Creek West had a break or leak in it, however, Atmos was on the site immediately upon it being reported and did all needed repairs. F. Mayor Sommers went over the filing dates for the upcoming May elections. At this time, all three Aldermen do intend to run to keep their seats. G. Mayor Sommers polled the Council to see if there was a need to hold a December meeting. As of now, there was not sO A Motion was made to cancel the December meeting by Alderman Gunter; Motion was seconded by Alderwoman Fohl; Motion carried. VII. Council Concerns. None VIII. City Secretary Report: City Sales Tax collected for the month ofOctober. 2024 was not available, the city secretary printed the wrong month. . The P&L for October 2024 was presented; there were no questions. IX. Executive Session: None X. Adjournment: Alderman Scallan made a Motion to adjourn; Alderwoman Fohl seconded the Motion: the Motion carried. Mayor Sommers adjourned the meeting at 7:38 pm. K.
