CALL THE MEETING TO ORDER 8 Chairman Adam Persky called the Eastern Carolina Aviation Heritage Foundation (ECAHF) 9 Development Committee meeting to order at 3:30 pm on April 1, 2025, at the Havelock Tourist & 10 Event Center, Havelock, NC with a quorum present. 11 12 B. APPROVAL OF MINUTES 13 Chairman Adam Persky presented the minutes to the committee for their review and approval. 14 Jimmie Green made a motion to approve the March 4. 2025, Development Committee Minutes 15 with no corrections. The motion carried unanimously. 16 17 C. OLD BUSINESS 18 1. Summer Camp, July 21-25, 2025 19 Chairman Adam Persky updated the Committee the number of Summer Camp 20 applications received to date along with the statistics for gender, grade, returning and 21 scholarships. The Committee discussed the acceptance process based on students' packet 22 and review by teachers. 23 It was noted by Chairman Adam Persky that there are currently eight applications 24 requesting needs-based scholarships and inquired how those would be addressed. Tom 25 Braaten stated they willl be paid for by ECAHF through donations, individual donations, 26 and other funds. Additionally, some may be paid for through the Craven County AIG 27 program. AIG currently has twenty-three applications. Chairman Adam Persky asked 28 how many of those will be accepted. Tom Braaten replied the number would vary based 29 on the application packets. The Student Selection Meeting with Teachers is scheduled 30 for May 1, 2025, at 3:45pm. 31 Chairman Adam Persky stated the application for the NASA downlink had been 32 submitted. Tom Braaten reported it is not likely to be approved due to the specific dates 33 and times during Summer Camp. ECAHF Development Committee Meeting 04/01/2025 Page 1 34 The Morehead Planetarium Outreach has not yet been approved but is anticipated. 35 2. STEM East Industry. in Schools Event Discussion 36 STEM: East Industry in Schools Event is scheduled for Monday, April 7, 2025, from 9am 37 to 1lam at the Havelock Tourist & Event Center. Jimmie Green inquired if anything 38 was needed for the event. The schedule, Passport Door Prize Entry Form and floorplan 39 were discussed by the Committee. 40 Guy Nelson has organized presenters for the booths. 41 To date the anticipated attendance willl be approximately 130 students with Guy Nelson 42 leading the event and Jenna Lanfor and other volunteers committed to attend. ECAHF 43 will provide snacks for the students. 44 All volunteers should coordinate with Pam Holder for assignments during the event. It 45 was also noted that Jordan, who is an intern at the Havelock Chamber would be 46 assisting. 47 D. NEW BUSINESS 48 1. Fly-InAugust 15, 2025, 5:00pm to 7:00pm 49 Chairman Adam Persky reported the Fly-In is scheduled for August 15, 2025, and 50 discussed the previous list of participants. The Committee agreed to move forward with 51 the list from the previous year. 52 Chairman Adam Persky asked what was needed from the Committee. Dianna 53 Vaccarella reported that marketing was already underway and previous participants will 54 need to be contacted for commitments for this year. 55 Flyers for the Fly-In will be distributed with the snacks at the STEM event. 56 2. Data on Donations for 2021-2025 (Heritage Society) 57 Chairman Adam Persky presented the list of donations for the Heritage Society. He 58 inquired if credit was given for labor. Tom Braaten stated in-kind donations are not 59 applied. 60 Discussions led to ECAHF not being classified as a 501(c)(3) and the number of grants 61 that are not available. Tom Braaten mentioned he would discuss it with the City 62 Manager. 63 64 E. ITEMS FROM THE CHAIR AND/OR COMMITTEE 65 Jimmie Green reported that he is a board member of the Crystal Coast Republican Men's 66 Club and discusses ECAHF at the meetings. He stated he has been disappointed there has 67 not been more participation from them in ECAHF events. Tom Braaten stated Carteret 68 County has a different agenda than Craven. Chairman Adam Persky stated he has an 69 acquaintance who serves on the Carteret County School Board and he feels would assist if 70 ECAHF wanted to host an event. Tom Braaten reminded the Committee of Erin Knight 71 who has been a supporter. 72 73 F. ADIOURNMENT / RECESS 74 With no further business to discuss, Tom Braaten made a motion to adjourn at 4:20pm. The motion 75 carried unanimously.
