Minutes of Guthrie Memorial Library Board of Governors April 17, 2025 Chairperson Fissel convened the regularly scheduled meeting of the Guthrie Memorial Library Board of Governors at 12:15 PM on Thursday, April 17, 2025, in the Bare Center of the Library, 2 Library Place, Hanover, PA as advertised. In attendance were BOG members: Nat Fissel, Eric Klansek, Steve Sherman, Andy Smith, Darlene Funk, Lizzy Baldwin, Barb Hentz, Amy Adler, Matt Purkins, and Scott Roland (12:27) Approval of March 2025 Minutes: Approved with a motion by Andy Smith, and a second by Steve Sherman. Public Comment #1: None Committee Reports: Nominating: None Honorsl Aristotle: None Public Relations: No meeting was scheduled. Library Fiscal Strategy Committee: Nat reported that there was a meeting in late March and there will be an update at the next BOG meeting. Report of the Director: There will be a traditional Arbor Day program on April 22. April 23rd is the annual volunteer recognition breakfast. The breakfast is scheduled 8:30-10:00 in the Bare Center. The BOG is invited to this event. Public internet will not be available on May 17 and 19 due to reconfiguring. There are currently three positions that are being advertised to fill open jobs. The teen library will begin relocating May 12th. This section will be closed May 12-22. Fundraising/ Development Report: The figures that Curtis presented earlier in the year were slightly off. The calendar year totals for 2024 were: Annual giving is $189,271. Bequests are $72,316. Memorials was $3,200 and tributes were $5,426. Borough Manager Report: The ribbon cutting ceremony is scheduled for April 23,2025. HPLA Investment Report: This information was included in the packet. Steve shared that the quarterly meeting is scheduled for May 6, 2025. Friends of the Library: Barb shared that the Friends Book sale (April) raised $7318. Barb also said that there is working being done for the August (8th and 9th) book sale. If there are any books left over, Life Path Ministries came in and took the books. YCL Report: Lizzy shared that the state report has been submitted. Public Comment #2: Sandy Moul asked when the library closed 2 hours early on April 14 was it a maintenance issue. Matt shared that there was a leak into a light fixture and the building was closed due to a safety issue. The meeting was adjourned at 12:34 PM. The next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, May 8, 2025, at the Bare Center.
