Park and Events Board Meeting Minutes, April 24, 2025 5. REPORTS, PRESENTATIONS, AND UPDATES: A. Receive reports on community events and the status of city park projects, including City Park grant and City Park Bathroom. Presented by Katherin Reading, City Manager. Easter Event Review: Easter event had a strong turnout. Only 10 eggs were left unstuffed due to a candy shortage. Recommendations; for next year: Purchase more candy in advance. Tape eggs shut to prevent themfrom opening. Expand the egg hunt area for better crowd control. City Park Projects: PIP surfacing EWF is complete with improved drainage. The playground is ADA compliant, and new benches and tables are being installed. Track on PIP is for younger kids. Ribbon Cutting. for the Park Bathroom will be held at the park. Poop stations. Signage under considerationfor: Prohibiting dogs. Managing bike usage. Handicap Parking. Special Note: Kids are riding their bikes down the handicap ramp onto the playground. City Infrastructure: Discussion on whether to announce when there is a boil water notice, considering the impact on school operations and public expectations. We have 3 - 4 more water shut off's coming upfor the Red Brick Project. Social media post to announce bikes on the ramp and dogs are prohibited. Park Grant Deadline April 30, 2025. Park Improvements: Update on park improvements, re-stripping courts for pickleball, planning the grand opening event once the bathroom has been completed. Splash Pad DIY's. Lights are not out at the tennis court yet. Artisan Market: Artisan Market was a success with some vendors selling out. Park and Events Board Meeting Minutes, April 24, 2025 May 9, 2025, is the next market. Ceremony, for Park Bathroom: To be held. May 31, 2025, at 6:30 PM., including potential involvement OfFBC for hot dog cook out with the Chamber's participation. The event will feature a splash pad opening and possibly a park dedication ceremony. The bronze plaque will not be ready in time for the event. City to buy hot dogs. Chrisna to email Lisa about Chamber and Opening ofthe Park and Bathroom, for a potential partnership. Red Brick Project: TXDOT should Let the project at the end ofthe year: Utility clearance is a priority. Grants: Katherine will applyfor another Grant next week. 6. ACTION ITEMS: A. Consider approval of minutes from the Park and Events meeting held on February 27, 2025, as presented. Board Member Maxfield moved to approve the minutes. Board Member Kettler seconded the motion.
