Library Board Minutes April 16, 2025 APPROVED STATE OF TEXAS S COUNTY OF TARRANT S CITY OF BEDFORD S The Library Board of the City of Bedford, Texas, met at 7:00 p.m. in the Library, 2424 Forest Ridge Drive on the 19th day of March 2025 to review items on the regular agenda and to hear staff reports, with the following members present, constituting a quorum: Present: Deborah Chaney Teri Clifford Susan Hampton Janet Key Tammy McDonald Shonda Patterson Amanda Stephens Also Present: Maria Redburn, Director of Library Barbara Johnson, Library Manager (The following items were considered in accordance with the official agenda posted on the 10th day of April 2025.) CALL TO ORDER Board Chair, Janet Key, called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. ROLL CALLINTRODUCTIONS Barbara Johson, Library Manager, was introduced to the group. PUBLIC COMMENTS No public comments were given. APPROVAL OF MINUTES 1. Consider approval of the following Library Board minutes: March 19, 2025, regular meeting Board Member Hampton made a motion to approve the minutes. Motion was seconded by Board Member Stephens. Motion passed unanimously. OLD BUSINESS 2. Report and discussion on Library Giving Day. 1 Library Board Minutes April 16, 2025 APPROVED The Friends of the Bedford Public Library raised approximately $3,000. The On the Border and Texas Roadhouse restaurant fundraisers were well attended. This was the first time the Friends of the Bedford Public Library have participated in this event. NEW BUSINESS 3. Report and discussion on Metabase dashboard. Barbara Johnson, Library Manager, gave an overview of the new open-source data analytics tool that turns data from Koha, the library's integrated library system, into graphs and visual reports. Data from other sources, such as eBook usage, library visits, computer wireless usage, interlibrary loans, program attendance, volunteers, and more, can also be tracked and visualized. The public dashboard is on the library website sO the community can see how much the library is being used. The public can view the public dashboard at htps/bedford.metabasebyatersolulions.com/dashboard/-public-siatistatistics-dashboard Using Metabase allows staff to: make data-driven decisions with confidence and show off visualizations of its data communicate the library's value to stakeholders such as the City, Library Advisory Board, patrons and support groups create monthly and annual reports for internal usage as well as facilitate completion of the Texas state report implement an easy and efficient method for entering and reporting on data automate delivery of monthly data 4. Discussion on upcoming HEB Reads! Kickoff Party on Saturday, May 17. Redburn reported that the HEB Reads! Kickoff Party will be held on Saturday, May 17 at Pennington Field. In-N-Out Burgers will have three food trucks giving away free meals to attendees. Children attending will receive a free book. Bedford Library staff will be giving children temporary airbrush tattoos. REPORTS 7. Discussion and distribution of Library Director's Report. Director's Report was distributed and is attached to the minutes. NEXT MEETING 8. The next meeting of the Library Advisory Board is Wednesday, May 21, 2025. ADJOURNMENT Motion to adjourn was made by Board Member Chaney and seconded by Board Member Stephens.
