Library Board Minutes March 19, 2025 APPROVED STATE OF TEXAS S COUNTY OF TARRANT S CITY OF BEDFORD $ The Library Board of the City of Bedford, Texas, met at 7:00 p.m. in the Library, 2424 Forest Ridge Drive on the 19th day ofMarch 2025 to review items on the regular agenda and to hear staff reports, with the following members present, constituting a quorum: Present: Deborah Chaney Teri Clifford Susan Hampton Joshua Hawks Janet Key Tammy McDonald Shonda Patterson Amanda Stephens Also Present: Joy Donvan Brandon, Council Liaison Maria Redburn, Director of Library Cynthia Reid, Library Supervisor (The following items were considered in accordance with the official agenda posted on the 13th day of March 2025.) CALL TO ORDER Board Chair, Janet Key, called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. ROLL CALLINIRODUCIONS PUBLIC COMMENTS No public comments were given. APPROVAL OF MINUTES 1. Consider approval of the following Library Board minutes: February 19, 2025, regular meeting Board Member Hampton made a motion to approve the minutes. Motion was seconded by Board Member Stephens. Motion passed unanimously. NEW BUSINESS 2. Discussion and Report on Library Volunteer Program. Cynthia Reid, Library Supervisor, presented information on the Bedford Public Library Volunteer Program. To keep volunteers engaged, Cynthia hosts a variety of social and lunch events. With 1 Library Board Minutes March 19, 2025 APPROVED 65 adult volunteers, Bedford has more than double the number of other libraries. Presentation is attached to the minutes. 3. Review and discussion about the Volunteer of the Year application and evaluation process. The Library Advisory Board reviewed 24 nominations for Volunteer of the Year. After much deliberation, they voted Teen #1 (Bennet Galich) and Adult #6 (Linda Christy) as the Volunteers of the Year. The Library Advisory Board uses a matrix which considers years of service, total number of nominations an individual receives, lifetime volunteer hours, and total impact of the volunteer on the Library. The names are removed from the nominations before being given to the Library Advisory Board. Winners will be announced in April. NEW BUSINESS 4. Update on the Library Business Plan. The City Council approved the Library Business Plan at the March 11 meeting. 5. Report and discussion on Library Flash Vote Results. Redburn reviewed Flash Vote results with the Library Advisory Board. A suggestion was made to add an email address should a survey respondent want to provide more context to their comment. Key takeaways were distributed and attached to the minutes. 6. Report and discussion on Library Giving Day. Chair Key reported on upcoming activities for Library Giving Day which include a Dine to Donate event on Tuesday, April 1 at Texas Roadhouse. Texas Roadhouse will donate 10% of all food sales to the Friends of the Bedford Public Library. In addition, On The Border will be donating 20% of all food sales back to the Friends of the Library on Wednesday, April 2. Members were encouraged to sign out yard signs to help promote the event. REPORTS 7. Discussion and distribution of Library Director's Report. Director's Report was distributed and is attached to the minutes. NEXT MEETING 8. The next meeting of the Library Advisory Board is Wednesday, March 19, 2024. ADJOURNMENT Motion to adjourn was made by Board Member Chaney and seconded by Board Member Hampton.
