BOARD OF SUPERVISORS BUDGET WORK SESSION April 22, 2025 1. Meeting Called to Order - Chairman Turman called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. or soon thereafter. 2. Opening Prayer - The Opening Prayer was led by Supervisor Bechtold. 3. Pledge of Allegiance - Paul Kitchen, Chair of the Electoral Board, led the Pledge of Allegiance. 4. Quorum - Dr. Linda Millsaps called roll, and a quorum was determined. PRESENT: Joe D. Turman, Chairman; Jerry W. Boothe, Vice Chairman; Kalinda Bechtold, Linda DeVito Kuchenbuch, and attending remotely in a secure location, Levi Cox, Board Members; Dr. Linda S. Millsaps, County Administrator, and Kim Chiddo, Deputy County Administrator/CFO. 5. Budget Workshop Discussion. Deputy County Administrator/CFO Kim Chiddo reviewed with the Board ofs Supervisors the County's Health Care Plan, noting Open Enrollment begins May 1, 2025, through May 15, 2025: A discussion ensued regarding the options oft the Board of Supervisors' percentage ofthe employer participation in each plan. The Board requested to see the following, which included the current fiscal year 2025, and what the financial implications would be ift the percentage participation remained the same. Noting that the Single plan is to remain at 85%. Deputy County Administrator Chiddo broke down all the requests from 31.50%, 46%, 50%, and 60%, and the employer scenarios of costs for each on a monthly and annual basis. Also discussed were the possible opportunities for funding for the Healthcare % change within the current proposed budget. Suggested departments to review were the Parks and Recreation Department, Contingency and the Floyd County School Budget. On a motion by Supervisor Cox, seconded by Supervisor Bechtold, and unanimously carried to approve the Employer Contribution of the Health Benefits of Single 85%, Dual, and Family, both 60%. Supervisor Bechtold noted that this is an important part of retention and building a stronger package to attract employees. Supervisor Boothe stated that he is glad to bring the health care package to this point and hopes someday in the future to improve upon the employer contribution. Supervisor Kuchenbuch shared that this is such a wonderful moment for the board to be able to contribute to this fashion. Supervisor Turman noted that he is glad to get to this point and has wanted to see this for several years and stated that he agreed with each of the Board members' comments. 6. Adjournment.
