BGVA 2S - Economic and Tourism Development Update April Plummer reported that Casey Sweitzer is representing destinations in Queen Anne's County at the Pennsylvania Bus' Association's Marketplace for Group Leaders. KNDF provided information to distribute at the event. Consultants from Team Maryland oft the Md Sports Commission came to begin the assessment of the potential for the County to host sporting events. A hotel roundtable will be established to focus on area hotels. The Office is putting together a booth for Queen Anne's County for the boat show. The KNDF will assist in the booth and Kent Narrows info will be supplied in the booth. KNDF Board members are invited to assist. Parking will be at the Old Outlets and a shuttle to the Boat Show will run between the show entrance and the outlets. There was discussion on whether a circulator shuttle will be needed to transport people to the local businesses. That may not be possible this year. The idea will be revisited as the shuttle grows. The board asked Gigi to locate providers and obtain prices on a circulator shuttle to minimize some of the impacts on the roadways. Chris Ampoia, Queen Anne's County Office of the Sheriff endorsed the idea of a circulator shuttle which will help to alleviate illegal parking along the roadsides and enhance pedestrian safety. Shelia Grant was supportive of the idea. There will be electronic signs on Rt 301/50 to direct people to the parking areas. Parks and Public Landings The Connector Trail (by the Holiday Inn Express) is currently open. The Phrag that is closest to the trail has been mowed. The Parks Division anticipates some on and off closures this season to replace the piling that was damaged. - RESOLUTION Joe. Pomerantz made a motion for the KNDF to investigate options to hire a circulator shuttle. The options and costs associated with the shuttle to the KNDF Board for further action. Pat Worns seconded. The Board agreed. Director's Report (Gigi Windley) - S Kent Narrows Special Taxing District Maintenance An invitation to bid was developed for the moving and landscaping contracts. This is posted on the KNDF's website. Iti is likely that the current contractor will not bid on the contract next year, SO other vendors are being sought. Proposals are due on April 25. - SHA Tickets Submitted Request to Restore Chesapeake Heritage and Visitor Center TAC Signs on Rt. 50 (waiting) (since 1/25) 3 Blog Post A blog post was written and designed to draw attention to the eateries and entertainment venues at Kent Narrows. This was promoted through social media and though e-mail blasts under the heading Visitors to Kent Narrows will find Unparalleled Waterfront Dining as the 2025 Boating Season Approaches! The headquarters is in Chestertown. A new storefront is being opened in Kent Island. Talkie has been building out their services in Kent County, Maryland and are progressing to Queen Anne's County. They are 100% fiber optic Internet. Talkie installs 100% fiber up to 10 gigabits per second, which is extremely fast. Talkie is the fastest Internet provider in the state ofMaryland. Properties in HOA's managed developments require permission from the development. Talkie offers a three-year rate guarantee and customers are not locked into a long-term contract. The company offers fiber optic Internet, television, cellular and TV and home security. Scott Ballard is the director of construction and can work with the KNDF to ensure that digging doesn't disrupt the large events that are planned for the area. If the construction causes disturbance to grass or the landscaping it is corrected immediately. KNDF will send a schedule oft the larger scale events to Talkie SO they can coordinate construction to avoid disruption. Round Robin Business Reports Jake Boulay reported that Cedar Point Marina Earned its Clean Marina Certification. Jeff Smith reported that the Kent Island Yacht Club has a new manager who starts on the first of April. NEW BUSINESS Motorcoach Parking With the increase in Motorcoach Traffic in the WVC a suggestion was made for the Foundation to work with the County and Business owners to designate specific areas for loading and unloading and coach parking. EXECUTIVE SESSION RESOLUTION Pat Worns made a motion for the board to convene an executive session the meeting. The Board agreed and went into the Executive Session. The regular meeting reconvened.
