Nace E - RESOLUTION NUMBER 30 FOR 2004 ESTABLISHING A PUBLIC COMMENT POLICY FOR UNION COUNTY WHEREAS, the Union County Commissioners respect and appreciate responsible input from the public on all matters in Union County; and WHEREAS, the policy of the Union County Board of Commissioners to accept public comment in an orderly and constructive manner during weekly meetings. WHEREAS, Act 93 - The Sunshine Law - requires that public comment be allowed before official action is taken at any public meeting. NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Union County Board of Commissioners and it is hereby resolved by authority of the same that it shall be subject to the following guidelines: Advance verbal, written or electronic requests for public comment time are requested prior to the meeting. The request should include the type of issue and any other pertinent details. Individuals wishing to comment must identify themselves, state their address, and indicate the topic to which they wish to address. nappropriate behavior such as outbursts, disorderly, disrespectful, or boisterous conduct will not be tolerated during the meeting. The Chairman will issue one (1) warning to any individual(s) responsible for the inappropriate behavior. Any further incidents will result in the Chairman dismissing the responsible person(s) from the meeting. Each individual presenting comments is limited to five (5) minutes. For any organizations wishing to comment, we ask that you choose a representative to speak on behalf of the group. There will be a maximum of thirty (30) minutes allowed for public comment. The Chairman reserves the right to waive or change these limits, according to allowable time. We reserve the right to limit redundant comments. Presentations must be concise, constructive and respectful Representatives from the press are welcome but will remain in an unobtrusive or designated area of the meeting room and will respect any requests of the Chair to keep themselves or their equipment from interfering with the Board's activities or the audience's participation.
