Commissioners' Meeting: April 15, 2025 The Bacon County Board of Commissioners held their monthly meeting on April 15, 2025, at! 5pm. Present: Chairman Shane Taylor, Commissioners Lee Hagans, Lonann Sweat, Corey Tyre, Rusty Sears and Sammy Boatright. Others Present: Noel and Beth Fowler, Cabe Cartledge, Andy Batten, Danny Turner, Keith Morris-County Attorney, Michael Todd, Gail Fiveash and Tristara Diaz - The Alma Times. Call to Order: Chairman Taylor Prayer: Commissioner Tyre Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag: Chairman Taylor Approve Minutes - March 18, 2025: Commissioner Hagans made the motion to approve the minutes, seconded by Commissioner Sweat. Motion carried. Silicone Ranch Variance: They requested two exceptions on the Solar Ordinance. They do not want to be required to install a chain link fence. They want to use Knot Game Fencing. Commissioner Tyre made the motion to table, seconded by Commissioner Sweat. Motion carried. Also, they requested that the vegetation be 24 inches instead of 18 inches. Commissioner Tyre made the motion to approve, seconded by Commissioner Hagans. Motion carried. H.B. 92: The Board agreed for a committee to study the floating homestead exempt. Commissioner Tyre made the motion to approve the committee to have 5 people on board. 2 from the City, 2 from the County and the Chief Appraiser. Commissioner Sweat seconded. Motion carried. Roof at Rec. Department - Pitching Machine Building: Two quotes were submitted. Josh Landis $8320.00 and Steve Johns $6600.00. Commissioner Sears made the motion to approve the bid from Steve Johns for $6600.00. Commissioner Boatright seconded. Motion carried. Public Safety Complex - Grant for Generator: Bacon County will have to pay up front and get reimbursed after it is set up. The cost will be $132,160.00 to be paid from SPLOST 2024-Public Buildings. Commissioner Sweat made the motion to approve, seconded by Commissioner Hagans. Motion carried. Road Closure - Mt. Pleasant Road: All the necessary requirements were met. A public Hearing was held on April 14, 2025, with no opposition. Commissioner Tyre made the motion to close the road, seconded by Commissioner Boatright. Motion carried. FYI: Day of the Child- April 26, 2025. City and County will split the cost. With no further business to discuss, Commissioner Boatright made the motion to adjourn, seconded by Commissioner Tyre.
