Stewart County Board of Commissioners Regular Meeting Minutes April 08, 2025 The Stewart County Board of Commissioners held a Regular Meeting on April 08, 2025. The meeting convened at 04:30 PM at the Stewart County Courthouse with Chairwoman Arcola Scott presiding. Pledge of Allegiance- -In unison Toll Call Commissioners in attendance: Chairwoman Arcola Scott Commissioner Joe Lee Williams Commissioner Tyrone Williams Commissioner MaQuonzie Thomas Vice-Chair: Thomas Mayo arrived at 4:31 PM. Other Staffin Attendance: Mac Moye, County Manager Bin Minter, County Attorney Mary Rushin, Assistant County Clerk Reading and Approval of Minutes - Chairwoman Scott moved to approve the minutes from March 11, 2025, with the corrections of names and any other necessary corrections, seconded by Vice-Chair Thomas Mayo. All voted in favor, and motion carried. Public Appearance: Cindy Trojak and Edwina Turner gave updates on the Wims Center, including all the improvements and plans for the center's future. Reports: A. Financial Report- Commissioner Joe Lee Williams moved to accept the March 2025 financial reports; seconded by Vice-Chair Thomas Mayo. All voted in favor, and motion carried. B. Road Superintendent- Covered with County Manager Report C.C County Manager Mac Moye: Singer Pond Project, Zero Turn Mowers, Septic System for EMS, and Roofing for the cafetorium at the Wims Center will be discussed in the work session of May 6, 2025. Bids for the Backhoe will go in the paper. D. Assistant Director Wesley Adam Griggs gave the Public Safety Report. E. County Attorney Binford Minter Report included the name change of Camp Road to Haynes Road or Eugene Haynes Road, which will not require approval from the State. RVRC will just need to notify the landowners on that road, and they will be allowed to voice their opinion. Advertisements will have to be included in the paper. Update on the Street Scape project will be presented to the Board in May. Old Business: Dumpsters- Commissioner Tyrone Nelson motioned that Mr. Charles Tarver return to picking up the excess trash around the dumpster, seconded by Vice-Chair Thomas Mayo. Commissioner Tyrone Nelson voted in favor, Commissioner MaQuonzie Thomas voted in favor, Vice Chair Thomas Mayo voted in favor, Commissioner Joe Lee Williams voted in favor, Chairwoman Arcola Scott voted opposed. Motion was carried. Nicklaus Watford from 121 Disposal Company explained his company and the type of Disposal service they could offer the county. He was asked to gather some figures to discuss at the next workshop.
