Putnam County Board of Tax Assessors Minutes April 29, 2025 Members Present: Shelby Storey, Shona Bales, Virginia Daley, John Richter Members Absent: Evan Reese Also Present: Paula Spivey, Chuck Anglin The Putnam County Board of Tax Assessors held a special-called meeting on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, in the Tax Assessors office. Chairman Shelby Storey called the meeting to order at 3:08pm. The board began reviewing 2025 CUVA and FLPA applications. In a motion made by Bales and seconded by Daley, the board approved a total of one-hundred ninety-four (194) CUVA applications and twenty-three (23) FLPA applications, along with their corresponding covenants. One CUVA application (parcel #035-001) was not approved, pending receipt of more information regarding this LLC. Copy of letter sent to taxpayer requesting more information attached in minutes. Spreadsheet displaying all two-hundred eighteen (218) applications, along with Chief Appraiser Anglin's 4-page handout attached in minutes. In reviewing homestead exemptions, the board approved the removal of four (4) homesteads for 2025 in a motion made by Daley, seconded by Richter (1-page list citing reasons for removals attached in minutes). Mr. Anglin presented four (4) applications submitted by veterans to the board. In a motion made by Richter and seconded by Bales, the board unanimously approved S5 exemption for parcel #096-012-006, and F5 exemption for parcel #126A-084. In a motion made by Daley and seconded by Richter, the board unanimously approved regular homestead exemption (L1) for parcels #086C-149 (60% disabled) and parcel #126C-049 (80% disabled). Copies of letters sent to taxpayers attached in minutes. The board then reviewed a list of 2025 homestead applications to be denied for various reasons. In a motion made by Richter and seconded by Daley, the board unanimously denied thirty-four (34) homestead applications (1-page list printed front & back citing reasons for denials attached in minutes). In a motion made by Richter and seconded by Bales, the board unanimously approved over five-hundred additional homestead applications (16 pages attached in minutes). Items 4 & 5 on the agenda were tabled until our next meeting. Mr. Anglin presented a Freeport application received for PP Acct #77441. In a motion made by Bales and seconded by Daley, the board unanimously approved this application. Items 7 & 8 on the agenda were tabled until our next meeting. Mr. Anglin advised the board that the tentative mailing date for our 2025 Notices of Assessment is Friday, May 16, 2025. Item #10 was also tabled until our next meeting. Next regular business meeting scheduled for Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at 3:00pm. There being no other business, meeting adjourned at 4:40pm in a motion by Richter, seconded by Bales.
