CITY OF DENTON CITY COUNCIL MINUTES May 13, 2025 After determining that a quorum was present, the City Council of the City of Denton, Texas convened in a Special Called meeting on Tuesday, May 13, 2025 at 2:03 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 215 E. McKinney Street, Denton, Texas. PRESENT: Mayor Gerard Hudspeth, Mayor Pro Tem Paul Meltzer and Council Members Brian Beck, Vicki Byrd, Joe Holland, Jill Jester, and Brandon Chase McGee ABSENT: None Also present were City Manager Sara Hensley and City Attorney Mack Reinwand. ID 25-445 Consider adoption of an ordinance ofthe City ofl Denton canvassing the returns and declaring the results of the General Municipal Election to elect City Council Members to Districts 1,2, 3, and 4, and the Special Municipal Election for the purpose of submitting proposed Charter amendments to the registered voters ofthe City of Denton, held on May 3, 2025; Declaring that no candidate received the majority ofvotes cast for District3 in the General Municipal Election and that a Runoff Election is ordered to be held on Saturday, June 7, 2025; Authorizing Runoff Election Day polling locations; and providing an effective date. ASSIGNED ORDINANCE NO. 25-445 There were no online registrations or call-ins on the item. The item was presented, and discussion followed. Following discussion, Mayor Hudspeth moved to adopt the item as presented. Motion seconded by Mayor Pro Tem Meltzer. Motion carried. The Texas Statement of Officer, Texas State Oath of Office and City of Denton Oath ofOffice were administered to Council Member Vicki Byrd - District 1, Council Member Brian Beck - District 2, and Council Member Joe Holland - District 4 by City Secretary, Lauren Thoden. No action was taken as the item was for presentation purposes only. 3. CONCLUDING ITEMS Mayor Hudspeth expressed items ofinterest.
